I had the screenshot, but I didn't get the trade off and I'm feeling a little shitty about that now. Nothing big, just minor profit taking and a minor portfolio rebalancing. Nonetheless, it hurts because it was due to a bad decision. I tried to get a little too cute and the market went fast and got away and I didn't sell and wasn't willing to sell at a lower price. If I had left my original offer in place, I would have been filled.  Angry  No big deal if you're trading with the trend as you'll usually be forgiven - I expect LTC to move to much higher highs. So the only thing I have to show for it is the opportunity to show you I'm just a normal guy and another lesson about how important it is to follow your rules.

If I were looking to buy back, which I'm obviously not, these would be the levels.

Looks like your analysis went down in the present time..  this thread can be help a lot to learn more about trading strategy and how to make a large profit.. since you directly trading crypto to crypto its possible to make your profit double..  because you are directly  bitcoin to litecoin..
We are just following your progress and hope that you can get the good result..

Yeah, when you look at it from a USD perspective, LTC isn't looking bad at all. Still above the upper Boll and the MACD still climbing!

My first post so please be kind!  A good friend of mine at work mentioned he was in this trading market so I decided to "jump in" with an initial investment of $10K (with $1K already in GMT/LSK; $3K in LTC and the rest in BTC that I want to use to purchase shares of "A", "B" and "C" to build a long-term portfolio).

He bought into ETH when it was at $11 so he is very happy with his investment.

Given my initial investment is equal to this thread subject, I wanted to post and ask where is the best places to learn what/where is best to place money into?  If there are some links, advice, etc..., I would greatly appreciate any feedback as I am not naive and realize my $10K may never increase and may indeed decrease to zero but I'm all in for the mid-to-long term.

Thank you!!!!

There are no real good places to link to for that. This is the most dog-eat-dog world you'll ever see, and good information of that sort is hard to come by. There is no Standard and Poor's for crypto. Everyone promotes their own crypto though, even the hucksters. Wink So your best bet is to always start by looking for what's wrong with whatever you're looking at, and when you can't find that, start asking how much you want to invest. Smiley

Lots of reading and research, patience, resolve and collaboration. Don't get in a hurry. This bull market will last for years.

But nothing goes up in a straight line.

Edit: It looks like profit taking across the board selling ALTs and buying fiat. It doesn't look like BTC is affected. That's the good news. BTC is our best salesperson. Smiley

Getting a little long in the tooth here?

Litecoin's role as a primary carrier role make this one of the most important coins out there.

I like that "primary carrier" phrase. I'm going to start using it!

And I also agree 100% with your postulation!
267  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Turn $10,000 into 1 Million on: June 16, 2017, 09:32:32 AM
Thank you for sharing your strategy! I'm curious how this plays out and I wish you best of luck.

I was wondering aren't you worried that Litecoin will just decrease in value in long term? Looking at the zoomed out chart doesn't look great:
https://www.tradingview.com/x/BWhLd8Ra/

I have the same long term concern about LTC. Two things pointing towards a possible trend change though are the massive increase in volume on the most recent rally, and the RSI holding above 40 on this last sell-off. And with things turning higher again we're getting some breathing room to see what happens next. I want to see at least a rally up to .02000000. Let's see if we get that and what the market tells us.

It's a good time to be buying, again. Wink

Because most coins went down?
You stick to your current portfolio, or invest more?

I like your attempt and analytic view in this thread. Will keep reading Smiley

Same portfolio. No changes. Will always update here if and when.

If I had more dry powder to invest here, I certainly would have bought more. These kinds of sell-offs are gifts to those who still haven't positioned.

Cheers,

By showing graphics that were already happened, you can claim to multiply your money by x100 but this is meaningless unless you can achieve it in current market by yourself.

So all of these saying does not mean anything to me. Like getting millionaire.

I'm doing both, one for you and another (the real one) for me.  Grin

The charts show real time prices that can be validated by the time stamps of the posts.

Just sold 2/3 NXT position.

https://i.imgur.com/8nqcdK0.jpg

Rolled part of the proceeds directly back into BTS to bring it back to 2/3 size of the original position (now 2x overweight).

https://i.imgur.com/z1qOl01.jpg

And the rest into LTC again leaving it underweight at 84% of its 50% overall position target. (We'll see how the BTS trade goes, if I get stopped, that will go into LTC for now as well.)

bitshares was the only major crypto that was stable during the down tend today Cool

There were others like NXT, SYS, GRS, NLG that were also up, with Nxt being one of the few actually up against the USD. Neverthelss, a very nice downdraft it was/is, but I think alts in general held up better than they did a couple of weeks ago, with some like these doing very well. A good place to find winners is looking for strength in weakness.

Those BTS targets I talked about before are back on the table. The 61.8 has held for now and the hourly technicals have gone bullish with the underlying daily very bullish. I might even add back to my remaining position if I get a clear chance.

This thing looks like a monster.

Now my slightly related unrelated $1,000,000 question: will we finally get a sideways pause in BTC's meteroric rise? At least a few days?

Add: STEEM and ETC didn't fare badly either.

272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Steemit.com: Blogging is the new Mining on: June 12, 2017, 08:20:09 PM
Any idea as to why there were no other documentation updates to this regard? No updated white paper. Nothing updated at https://steem.io/ at all to reflect this change. Nothing here on BCT either (until now). And the blog you posted isn't even noted here on the OP or on the website.   Shocked

There is a project ongoing by Steemit to update/replace the white paper. They have been working on various fronts to scale up their resources as the coin and platform has become more popular, but there are many different demands. I don't know when there will be an updated white paper.

Thanks for that response. Being who you are, an intelligent, reliable, and very generous contributor, I'd like to pick your brain a bit more if possible.

The thing is that when you do a google search for "steem scam" the entire first page of results that comes back is all scam related, from BCT, to the Stack Exchange, to Steemit itself! The accusations run the gamut, and while my concern was the business model, I mention this in an effort to set the stage regarding some of the overall challenges those responsible for Steem are facing - more than a few and not exactly of minor import - and to give some background in the hopes of validating to a certain degree my next question.

That's a bit unfair. If you do a google search for just about anything followed by the word scam you will get similar results. (Which does not necessarily invalidate the many scam accusations that have been made against Steem. Make up your own mind about those.)

Are those who are responsible for the day to day functioning of Steem volunteers or salary employees?

1. There are some people, including the main developers, who work as employees for Steemit Inc. They are presumably getting salaries (but their salaries aren't public so I have no idea).

2. There are some people who are voted in by stake/coin holders as witnesses who run servers that validate the chain, sign blocks, and act as trusted oracles and policy makers to support the SBD peg. These include 20 primary witnesses and an unlimited number of backup witnesses (literally anyone with any vested STEEM can vote themselves in as a backup witness). They are paid directly by the blockchain.

3. As with any open source coin project, a lot is done by unpaid community members.

The fact that a major overhaul of the business model was kept under raps on a blog that is neither posted on Steem.io, or any other social media where Steem is represented is troublesome. That blog post was from 7 months ago, and nobody's had time to update anything? Just put a link to the blog post right underneath the white paper on the Steem.io website? We're talking about a major overhaul of the business model! As I said, it's troublesome, especially from a competence point of view. Wouldn't you agree that at minimum we can say that it doesn't project a very professional image? As I said, this is by way of providing some justification for what some might consider a trolling type of question. (Some confuse good business and common sense with other things . . . and I can't say that I am not empathetic to their misgivings and misunderstanding having seen what I've seen here over the years.)

Those are fair criticisms. I will pass them along.

Quote
I'm trying to wrap my head around how a change of this magnintude for an organization of the size and scale of Steem could have be relegated to a somewhat obscure blog post whose hyperlink is nowhere to be found on the official website nor any other social media where Steem is represented.

My opinion and speaking for no one, I think people can easily get caught in a bubble. They spend all day paying attention to Steem and don't realize that others don't, even those who may have some interest in Steem. As such, they then feel that posting on Steem itself is good enough.

Fair enough.

Thanks again.

Charlie Lee is back into Litecoin and he said by himself that LTC is the moon now as he will concentrate on its development to make it big again. Litecoin is next to be pumped hard whenever it will be to take it higher and higher. I am bullish at Litecoin since I see him coming back to it.

Very good news.  Grin

https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/873343321296429056

And timely!

"Since the Litecoin ecosystem is yearning for growth and the ability to be more competitive with other cryptocurrencies, Lee’s entrance back onto the scene is an extraordinary event. It is perfect timing. This is especially true since Segwit use is currently being tested." - https://news.bitcoin.com/charlie-lee-resigns-from-coinbase-to-focus-on-litecoin/

For those speculating just what this might mean for Litecoin, an executive summary of his time at Coinbase might give us a very good idea.

"During his career at Coinbase, Lee led the Coinbase development team to innovate and improve the efficiency, flexibility and functionality of the wallet platform and digital currency exchange. The efforts of Lee and his team at Coinbase allowed Coinbase to secure 7.7 million customers, which officially made Coinbase the second largest bitcoin wallet platform behind Blockchain.

Over the past few years, Coinbase has processed over $6 billion worth of digital currency trades across 32 countries it supports. Most recently, Coinbase became the first company within the cryptocurrency market to reach a billion dollar valuation.

The good news is that BTS is rising as we hoped for. The even better news is that the technicals are indicating the current rise is not being powered by an emotional public, but by professionals. The current uptrend beginning this last Thursday as seen on the hourly chart is still intact. We are inside a series of extensions all using the same anchor that is targeting ~.00026000. While clearly working off excesses and correcting down to the 50% retrace of the extension and the rising 50sma that also meets with good horizontal price and Bollinger support, the volumetric studies suggest continued strong demand in what looks like accumulation. All this suggests that this is not exactly the best place to be taking profits. Let your profits run, and wait for a breakdown in the trend before selling. Smiley

Great post and thankyou for your valueble input.
Made me realise I need to learn chart analysis!

Since that post we have a confirmed 1-2-3 trend reversal on the hourly, a broken head and shoulder pattern, along with a bearish aligning of the 20 and 50sma’s currently at the headline of the broken pattern, on falling volume (both upside and downside). There’s still a bull Fibonacci support level that’s held till now, but if that goes down I'd have no reason left to continue to suggest a reasonable possibility of getting to those levels in the immediate future.

I took profits on 2/3 of my position. We’ll see if I get to buy back cheaper, or get left behind. Wink

2/3 BTS position sold.

https://i.imgur.com/v1yQS1s.jpg

Edit: BTS had reached very overbought on the daily chart and was breaking down on the hourly. It had also reached >30% of the the portfolio.

LTC had fallen to a 28% portfolio weighting, so a small percentage goes to bring it up to 30%, and the remaining to stay in BTC to establish 2 more 10% positions with 2 new cryptos the rest in LTC (what I'm interested in has got to come down quite a bit in price first . . .) which brings it back to 50%.

We have made several great connections with several people at Citi, MasterCard, PwC and Microsoft. As well as some government authorities. We have several meetings setup.
Hello everyone! So a great company with advanced facial recognition was selected today. However we are still in the running for over 30 awards in July presented in Washing DC.
They will continue to introduce us to new clients and future partners. All the main major global awards have not been announced yet. These will be announced in July.

would be good if Jared made a post or a tweet about it, might slow down the crazy dumpers lol.

It's Jared who's dumping.  Cheesy
