2601  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Will Kill The Income Tax on: January 18, 2017, 12:28:18 PM

They really want to control us, good job for Coinbase for protecting the privacy of their clients. We are here for for privacy but if the government will enforce their laws to get our information then it will just defeat the purpose. They could make different method to let the traders who are making an income to pay the appropriate taxes but not all the users who are transacting online. Even banks has a bank secrecy law, what happen to IRS?

to me this news sounds more like a publicity stunt and it seems like they are trying so hard to keep their users and don't lose their share of the bitcoin exchange market they currently have stablished, otherwise their headquarters is located in US and they have to follow the laws of US and that will require them to cooperate with IRS eventually if they have not been doing it all along.
2602  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If LTC is faster than BTC, Why Don't We Use It? on: January 16, 2017, 01:33:11 PM
If you are taking consideration of only transaction getting faster confirmation then, when everyone start to use LTC then their transaction will also get delay.
this part doesn't make any sense. i assume the delay you are referring to comes from bitcoin and the fact that low fee transactions are taking too long to confirm, if so it is because blocks are full and this can happen to any coin that has limit on the size of the blocks, and can be fixed by removing that restriction. (although as you can see reaching consensus is tough!)

Quote
LTC is good coin but still it is run by a developer and it is controlled by them.

how can a developer control price of the coin, specially an altcoin such as LTC, what you said is only true about coins that have a large amount of pre mine.
2603  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wallets without fees and stupid people on: January 16, 2017, 01:24:50 PM
well i don't know what that user means or why he is so mad but let me explain what is going on:

when you are using a bitcoin wallet you have to pay the fees because that is how bitcoin works, you need to pay a specific amount of fee per byte for every transaction you want to send. you can send with 0 fees but miners can also decide not to include your tx in a  block.

but when you are using a third party service instead of a wallet, such as xapo or i think coinbase too, they offer special features such as no fee to attract more users. but in fact they are paying the transaction fee from their own pocket and it is just a promotion.
also when you use these services you give up control over private keys and your money to them.
2604  Economy / Economics / Re: Smart Passive Income on: January 16, 2017, 01:17:39 PM
What will be the best way to convert it to some passive income?
Advertising? Affiliates? VIP registration?
How much should I expect to earn from it?

i can see why you don't say anything about the idea itself but we can't be specific without knowing what the idea is. but the easiest way to monetize your website is to put up banner advertisement mostly CPM ads because getting clicks is not that easy.
and the two others that you asked about need clicks which as i said is not easy these days. unless you are advertising something related to your own content.

how much you can earn only depends on how successful you are in developing the website, it can be from negative income to 1000s of dollars.
2605  Economy / Speculation / Re: How the Chinese rumours benefit other countries. on: January 16, 2017, 01:11:23 PM
So it should be clear by now, what the simple solution to that must be. BUY MORE COINS.

very true.
in fact a while back i read some interesting comment around here that said when whales start dumping to create panic it is a good time to take their coins out of their hands and turn their trick against them. this way they will end up losing their money and we will end up with a better distribution of coins.
2606  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin bank account? on: January 16, 2017, 01:04:20 PM
Are there banks accepting bitcoins? We can open Dollar and Euro accounts in the banks. Can we open it on Bitcoin's account? Are there banks supporting this?

the banks that we know of are not doing it yet but you can see some of the services online such as coinbase as a bank because of how they are performing and have control over bitcoins that are kept on their website.
banks may not have any problem with you buying or selling bitcoin using your account there but they are not directly justifying it.
2607  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency Exchange without a trusted third party on: January 15, 2017, 02:09:14 PM
why are you making things extremely complicated for no reason and with a big ass wall of text?!!!

first of all the notion of exchanging private keys is ridiculous. because as long as the on chain sending is available there is no need to exchange private keys. it is like giving someone your bank account instead of writing him a check (cheque?)!!

there is a simple solution instead of this strange method that nobody understands or at least not easily, and the solution is using a multi signature address.

Alice and Bob make a multi sig bitcoin address (2 signatures) each holding one key and Bob sends the amount to that address. Alice sends him the altcoin he wants and a transaction for him to sign that spends the bitcoins in that multi sig address. when Bob received the altcoins he signs the transaction which is half signed by Alice and broadcasts it completing the exchange.

easy and understandable while using the protocols already available to everyone!
2608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ☕Which Altcoins should I hold onto for yonks ?☕ on: January 15, 2017, 02:00:20 PM
Which Altcoins should I hold onto for ... a very long time ...

none of them for long time because in long term none of the altcoins we know today are performing well enough to be considered as a good investment.
just do it short term.

But wasn't that when the algorithm wars was out a few years back when Litecoin was 40 bucks each ?

From looking at the charts Litecoin seems the most stable for the last 2 years.... Just saying from my observations that is why I was asking other people's opinion and of course I know to invest into Bitcoin Cheesy

it was 50 dollars and it was in the early days of 2013-2014 and the reason for it was because bitcoin got pumped by Mtgox back then and litecoin followed since it is the copy of bitcoin.

if you want profit then yeah litecoin is now a good investment because it has a pump due and we all know it is going to come. but your question was about "a long term investment" not buying an altcoin pre pump to make profit.
2609  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian, adopt a "wait-and -see approach" on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. on: January 15, 2017, 01:54:26 PM
Russian, "Deputy finance minister, adopted a wait -and -see approach with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies". He said " mining or use of the bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies will no longer be seen as a criminal offence." The news is from Russian largest news agency,TASS.

first of all can you please include the link to this news, preferably this news in Russian because all the English news sources tend to misinterpret any kind of news that is not originating in English speaking countries such as Russia and China.

also i have to say most countries have had this approach that they are not saying bitcoin is illegal nor saying it is legal.
but one thing about Russia that always interests me is that they have had so many big events regarding bitcoin such as conferences in their capital which shows they have never been negative about bitcoin.
2610  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Bubble 3.0 on: January 15, 2017, 01:47:06 PM
i have been saying this from the start and for years. bubbles are not good and they never have been. unfortunately about bitcoin it had a couple of them already which makes it look bad and only a trading tool and drives people away from the currency aspect.
but fortunately for bitcoin these bubbles are becoming more rare and also smaller which shows the market is maturing over time and becoming bigger than just a small number of traders pumping.
in time we will see a market more stable than anything ever seen even better than gold.
2611  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: btc china fake volumes on: January 15, 2017, 01:41:05 PM
I'd love to learn what the real Chinese market volume is.

it certainly is more than western exchange's volume but not by the current amount they are reporting.

it is more only because of a couple of reasons. the most important reason is that they have 0 fee for trades which makes any kind of trade profitable.
also the other reason is that Chinese are known to be traders, and there are lots of them who are trading and that makes a bigger volume.

with that said i say it is only 20% more!
2612  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What exactly can you buy with Bitcoin? on: January 15, 2017, 01:35:53 PM
the thing to always know about bitcoin is that bitcoin is money. so as long as it has value and it is being traded with fiat you can buy anything you want with it, but as long as you can find someone who is willing to accept bitcoin as payment. it is like asking what i can buy with USD, if someone is accepting USD you can buy anything.
2613  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, is it worth spending time collecting it? on: January 14, 2017, 03:18:17 PM
it doesn't matter much what you do to get bitcoin, as long as you become a part of it, you are a winner and the sooner you get in, the bigger winner you will be. and for that you can check the 8 years of history to see how much you have missed out on by not getting involved with bitcoin so far.
2614  Economy / Exchanges / Re: is Bitfinex still trusted? on: January 14, 2017, 03:14:08 PM
I added some btc to Bitfinex but then I heard that it was hacked recently.

Is this exchange still trusted? What are your thoughts?

bitfines is as trusted as any other exchange is trusted and the fact that they got hacked, or even they got hacked and came back doesn't give them any more or less trust than others.

as long as the exchanges are centralized, without license and have no way of guaranteeing you your money they are all unsafe and can run away at any moment.
2615  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: January 14, 2017, 03:04:13 PM
-snip-
earning from these websites is higher but for that you will require a hard struggle to bring huge traffic to your websites for that you will have to work more than what we do for active income and after that we can consider it as passive income when there will be enough traffic that we ourself will not require to promote it further.

it really isn't that hard. this technique is also like any other job and needs experience. the same way you need experience to do any other job successfully.
it comes down to SEO, content, advertising, design and so many other smaller factors but the good news is that things aren't that hard to learn.
2616  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's next (short term) ? on: January 14, 2017, 02:45:11 PM
We're finally back in the high 700s after a bounce to 833$ (Bitstamp).

So what's next?

So far i think we'll have a short congestion phase before a new explosion of volatility.
Likely a move down with a possible target in the 680 - 690$ range, within 2-3 days.

Imho.

Retrace up to $900 region.

So far price is still struggling to break through resistance zone / top of channel ( about 830 to 845 $ ).
Also the move from the last lower low to 751$ to 838$ was done with low and weakening volume.

Unless volume picks up i see few chances to go up,  a resuming of the down move is more likely.
Obviously any strong volatility peak may push the price to any directions.

the volume was actually pretty high from what i have been seeing. and it is because the volatility has been going both ways. it is not just in the dropping part of things but also when price rises.
the same panic that caused the drop is also causing the rise, those weak hands who hasn't gave up yet bought back in the fear of missing out.
2617  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is CHINA CONTROLLING Bitcoin? on: January 14, 2017, 02:40:24 PM
With the level of mining difficulty so high, nobody can control bitcoin. Even at today's price, mining is a losing proposition for any duration under 24 months. We're lucky the miners don't "go on strike" and just refuse to sell. Once that happens BTC will hit $10,000/coin overnight.

sell what? miners are getting 12.5+ bitcoin each block they mine and most of the big names you see have to share that with others because they are pools not farms so they share with those who are connected to their pool
and also there are currently 16 million coins in circulation, miners not selling has and effect but it is not going to be big.
2618  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: which coin to trade base on thier statistics? on: January 13, 2017, 01:46:53 PM
if you are to start trading on altcoins, what sort of consideration should check before buying?

Should you chose Ripple because of their high volume per day yet the price is just cents and the total supply is 33 trillion or should I chose go to trade with low supply like Monero because the price is more than $10?

What are the things you consider before buying a coin, its Market Cap, Price, Available Supply and volume?

the simple answer would be to choose the altcoin that is being pump and dumped. in altcoin market sometimes it doesn't matter if the coin is worth it or not as long as it is being pumped. for example you can find coins with less than 0.01BTC daily volume that have gotten pumped and the volume goes up to 50-70BTC
that is why analysis doesn't work much in this market.
2619  Economy / Economics / Re: whether bitcoin influence on the world economy? on: January 13, 2017, 01:40:07 PM

possible bitcoin prices affect the world economy?
such as the high price of bitcoin again, if the price of the price of basic commodities will go up?

give your opinion?

well no and the reason is too simple. bitcoin is too small to have any influence on world economy. you can check out other commodity markets (not that i agree calling bitcoin commodity) and look at the volume they have and the prices or the market cap.
then you realize bitcoin is too small in this world.
maybe in the future though, when it becomes bigger and more adopted.
2620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin the best cryptocurrency what so ever? on: January 13, 2017, 01:35:11 PM
I wanna know if Bitcoin is the best, the most secure, the speediest and the most precious currency right now, because there are many many currencies available and each offer some promises.

Is it logical to work with one or is it safe to somehow use several? Can anyone help me out?

you can not compare bitcoin, a cryptocurrency, with fiat the regular currency that everybody knows. in that comparison you will have a hard time.

but bitcoin is safe, good, fast, cheap and precious.

if you want to compare it with its counterparts also known as altcoins then bitcoin is the best. although you may find other coins that are faster or have other features but nothing comes without its downside. for example faster transactions means faster block generation and faster blockchain size growth and a ridiculous number of orphaned blocks.
