2621  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9k control board on: March 21, 2021, 12:05:48 AM
also can i swap the control boards of the s9 and s9k? will and s9 board work on a s9k?

No, they use different control boards.

If you confirmed that all 3 hash boards are fine but the miner will only work with two then the first thing to suspect would be the PSU, of course this assumes you cross-checked all the data/ribbon cables.
2622  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Solo mining and extranonce handling on: March 20, 2021, 11:55:38 PM
As a real world example: What has higher probability? Winning in a single lotto drawing when buying 30 tickets - or winning in one of 3 lottery drawings when buying 10 tickets for each?

In this example, your chances are exactly the same, I have explained to the folks who do group rentals to solo mine that say 10ph for 24 hours has the exact same chances of 20ph for 12 hours and therefore, but well, this might not be as simple to understand as I think.

So the actual question with solo mining now is, if I start multiple cgminer instances mining with the same btc address, will they do the same work redundantly?

They won't.

I believe that most pools will modify extranonce1 and send a different template to each individual mining instance connected to the pool, the miner itself will need to modify extranonce2 only, so if you mine to a solo pool you shouldn't worry about the extra nonce at all if however you mine directly without a pool then your node will (at least should) pass a different template to each mining instance, in all cases I believe there is no need to use a different bitcoin address.
2623  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: My miner Work only one chain.. on: March 20, 2021, 02:52:40 AM
Please edit your post and use code tags when posting kernel/sys log, like so

Code:
logs go here

It appears that the other hash boards you have are simply dead. Since you mentioned that you have another similar miner, try to swap the PSU and the control board, if nothing changes then dead hash boards confirmed, if they work, we can troubleshoot further.

2625  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Caught in ASIC Chip Maker Bind. Poaching TSMC Tawain. Poll! on: March 20, 2021, 01:10:37 AM
The talent poaching drama is nothing new between China and Taiwan, given that China spends hundreds of billions of dollars to import chips from Taiwan and the fact that China already has plans related to semiconductor manufacturing, I am not surprised to see Bitmain get involved in this, but I doubt this will have a major impact on how things are or were prior to these findings.

I believe buying chips from TMSC isn't something you do daily, I mean it's not like Bitmain send someone one in a minivan to load up those chips and bring them back to Bitmain, so everything that has to do with 2021 at least has probably been finalized, TMSC has always put mining companies at the bottom of their interset list, not because they are from China but because their demand is far from stable, I am pretty sure that in 2018,2019 Bitmain were not really buying any chips of TMSC, and the latter probably knows that in 2022 Bitmain won't have the same demand it has in 2021, and since they can only make so many chips, they rather focus on their major clients who have more of a static and known demand.

Quote
lease post on how 'jammed up Bitmain and others may be in the pipeline for ASIC chips in 2021 and beyond.

I think by Q4 this year, the mania phase will be over, demand on gears will drop significantly, Bitmain will have just enough chips to sustain the low demand on gears in 2022.
2626  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: xinshili q3 problem on: March 19, 2021, 11:30:14 PM
This gear looks like a replica of Innosilicon T2Thm Miner, so I suggest you troubleshoot it as so since you won't really find any resources on a weird brand name like this one, I'd start by flashing the latest firmware from INNO > https://www.innosilicon.com/html/support_en/download.html.
2627  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17e two hash boards not responding out of three. on: March 18, 2021, 10:47:59 PM
I think they are broken and nothing can be done to fix or repair.

Can anyone confirm that?

They are beyond repair by the average person, you will need someone who has the skills as well as the tools to fix them, which isn't something you can easily find, where are you located? there might be a repair shop nearby, the worst-case scenario, you could just sell the hashboard as is to get back some of the money you spent.

As for the firmware, the hardware damage negates the need for testing a different firmware, the chip has fallen off and no firmware on earth will make it work, sorry.
2628  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 257 blocks solved! on: March 18, 2021, 02:11:14 AM

You won't get any rewards mining to cksolo unless you find a block and then you get 6.25 btc + transaction fees - pool fees, but your hashrate shows 50 something GH, which means you will probably not make anything even mining to a PPS pool, what device are you using?
2629  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How many miners can handle this electrical set up? on: March 18, 2021, 12:38:18 AM
That's why I added the disclaimer "by British terminology". There is no error in my calculation, however I doubt it is 480v 280A 3ph (at least not in the way it would mean here in the UK).

Sorry, your calculation is not wrong, bad wordings (as usual) on my end, excuse my English.

Thanks . It shows on the panel 480V/ 277 so I believe you have a good point.

Then you have 277v*280a * 3 * 0.8, that's roughly 185kw in total, but you have bigger problems to worry about, most mining gears won't work on 277 volts, IIRC someone mention 255v was good on some T17 but not all, I think most folks who have 277v use Microbt gears, of course, not all Microbt gears support 277v but they do have a few options like the models that use p21 PSU, I had this voltage conversation like a year ago, and I am a bit too old and my memory isn't so great, so take the voltage info with a spoon of salt and do more research in that regards.
2630  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer T17e two hash boards not responding out of three. on: March 18, 2021, 12:04:31 AM
Sadly, both BOs and Vnish have not finished the S17e and T17e firmware (they have been saying it's coming soon for a very long time) which probably means it's not coming at all, but thierry4wd has a modded version, you might want to give it a try.
2631  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How many miners can handle this electrical set up? on: March 17, 2021, 10:44:14 PM
[...]

I am not from the U.K nor have I  seen a 480v transformer but I have strong reasons to believe that you made a mistake in your calculations, I am almost certain that you can't have 480v between each phase and neutral, 480V is between phases, and 277v or 240v if it's high leg delta between each phase and a neutral.

This means the math has to change to 240 or 277 * 280 = either 67,200kw or 77,560kw if it's 277v, and since you can't really go past 80% load, I'd guess the transformer will only be happy with at a 20% reduction, which is either 53kw on 240v or 61kw on 277v, that will be a total of 159kw or 183kw.

Now if I am wrong, i.e you really get 480v between each phase and N, then the number of miners you can run on this transformer is exactly ZERO because no miner on planet earth works on 480V.

ِAbonded is for the whole project, it simply means they are no longer maintaining the project, ignore that. but judging from the code on issue #16 I see no reason why it shouldn't work, your code, however, which you posted here > https://imgur.com/v7hu2lm is missing a for loop and doesn't seem to be passing the worked id, is the screenshot outdated or you modified the code?
2633  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Need help for setting btc.com backend on: March 17, 2021, 06:36:05 AM
What error does it through? do you get err-msg?

I think your userlist code is incomplete, the count function in php only returns the elements count of an array and not their assigned values, I am not sure how are you passing the user id in the code you posted the screenshot for, could you paste it here so I can have a better look.?

I believe you need to use a for loop to go through workers, can you just use the exact code that SwimmingTiger posted here > https://github.com/btccom/btcpool-ABANDONED/issues/16d
2634  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S17 Pro Back from Repairs or Disrepair. on: March 16, 2021, 10:35:32 PM
... on the search to find a reliable source for BM1397AD's.

Did you check on zeusbtc.com? I think most suppliers are facing chips shortage, it seems like thousands of gears were sitting on the sideline doing nothing until BTC took off and everyone wanted to fix those gears, I think you can actually extract the chips from one of the boards you have, say you have 10 bad boards, you sacrifice 1 to fix the other 9, makes any senes?

if this works, it will add an extra step or two on the process, but at least you don't have to wait forever to find the chips.
2635  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to run Antminer T17 with detached PSU for liquid cooling on: March 16, 2021, 02:41:04 AM
I really have no personal experience on this but most set-ups I have seen do remove the fans, and then you will need to use a fan emulator to trick the miner into thinking that fans are spinning at the needed RPMs because the miner won't start before the fan-check is passed, or you will use custom firmware like Vnish where you can disable the fan-check test, but of course, you pay 2-3% fees for the firmware.

I have seen a few videos on youtube before that look solid, the majority are people who do it for the views where they put a miner in a fish tank and stuff like that, but some solid operations do it professionally, just dig a bit deeper and you will find examples.
2636  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Where to fix your Asic miners. on: March 16, 2021, 02:25:07 AM
I would add https://service.myrig.com/ to the list if someone I trust can vouch for them, NFW I do trust your judgment but since you mentioned that you used them "long long ago" things could have changed, and the quoted post below makes me doubt they are still as good as they used to be:

Thank you for the follow up.  I sent them an email over the weekend, but I have yet to hear back.  I tried called the USA number you listed, but it has been disconnected.  I was going to reach out to their user here on Bitcoin Forum, but they do not accept messages from Newbies unfortunately.

Their account was last active on "March 06, 2019, 09:42:34 PM".

Can someone in the U.S reach out to them to the new phone number they have on their website ( a different one from the one posted above which is disconnected) to see if they still offer repairs?

2637  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9I no feedback and error light on: March 16, 2021, 01:12:53 AM
Would a card work better if the chip is at 40°C or rather 80 to 90°C?

The general thought is "the cooler the better", although as one member here tested before, if your miner runs too cool it will increase the voltage to keep the miner warmer and that will increase the power consumption, to me personally, I believe the S9 doesn't give a fudge, I have seen people run them above 100c for a very long time, I believe the 70-80c range is good overall, and anywhere below 90-95c is acceptable, don't worry much about the S9s, when they work, they are rock solid.
2638  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: s9 chains not hashing on: March 16, 2021, 12:29:33 AM
Here is the problem:

Code:
driver-btm-c5.c:13522:bitmain_c5_init: retry Chain[J6] has 61 asic
driver-btm-c5.c:13522:bitmain_c5_init: retry Chain[J7] has 0 asic
driver-btm-c5.c:13494:bitmain_c5_init: Chain[J8] has 63 asic

S9 hashboars have 63 asics on each, if 1 or more is missing then the control board will shut down that hashboard (there are a few expectations as to which domain the asic belongs to but that's nothing to be concerned about for your case).

There isn't much you can do, you need the tools and skills to physically identify the bad chips and replace them, you could try this version (Antminer-S9-all-201711171757-autofreq-user-Update2UBI-NF.tar.gz)as it might bring one of them back to life if you are lucky, if not - then well, too bad you have two dead hashboards.
2639  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How to run Antminer T17 with detached PSU for liquid cooling on: March 16, 2021, 12:05:24 AM
but there are 2 metal bars that screw into the PSU and slide into clips on each hash board. Can anyone tell me what these bars are for?
I would prefer the PSU be outside the liquid and just mount the hash boards into the liquid, but how would I go about doing that with these bars attached?

Since the hashboards on T17 suck a lot of power, they had to use busbars instead of wires, of course also to improve the efficiency, your method will work as long as it's just a theory, but when applied in a real-world, it will probably fail, you see the output of that PSU is DC, and it outputs anywhere from 14.5 to 21 volts, DC connections are meant to stay as short as possible and it's hard to transmit, well the main reason why Edison lost the war of the currents 140 years ago.

If you measure the voltage on the furthest hashboard which is usually chain 2 ( in 0,1,2) you will see that it has slightly less voltage than the other two, by lengthening those busbars you will cause the voltage to drop even further, and since you want the miner to be inside a box and the PSU outside, then we are talking about a quite a bit of distance which could result in a very low voltage output which would indeed cause problems.

Now depending on how smart your design is, and say you won't add much distance, you might get away with it

Quote
I believe the manual says they are copper although they must be plates.

They are plated copper busbar, which is exactly what you have to use, you could use any plated copper bars you find but when you will have to tin/plate them after you make the wholes for the screws.

Honestly speaking, I would ditch the idea altogether, just throw the whole miner inside the liquid.

NotFuzzyWarm and HagssFIN would probably add more info and/or correct me if I made a mistake somewhere since they know about electcity much more than I do.
2640  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Anyone willing to help a newbie? I can't get my S9 working on: March 15, 2021, 09:48:11 PM
Sorry for causing confusion, I tried to be detailed ended up making things a bit hard to understand, but you kind of got it anyways, to put this in even a simpler form, just plug the second PSU into an outlet, take 3*6pin cables and plug them in the 3rd board which now is unplugged.

You could also connect the control board to the second PSU instead of connecting it to the first one since the second PSU will have a lot more room, the control board doesn't consume much but still worth it IMO.
