1941  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: All dead, all dead, please help me they're all dead :( on: November 14, 2021, 08:42:02 PM
Let's just focus on the S9s, try not to mention the other gears, or else your topic will be moved to the alt section and it's a spam land.

The first thing I would suspect when more than 1 gear start acting weird at the same time would be the network setup, the second thing would be the PSUs, get a cheap multimeter to confirm you are getting 12v on the DC output or use a PC's PSU to test the S9, make sure it's at least 400w and unplug 2 hash boards (keep only 1 hash board).

Usually, the miner itself isn't affected by power-related issues, the PSU will take the hit and die, so hopefully, that will be the case for you.

1942  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 14, 2021, 04:49:18 PM
With cheap power even the S19s haven't managed to push the S9 out of mining yet, it's incredibly hard for me to picture S19j getting close to unprofitable at even at 10 cents and at the same time poeple making a killing with the XP version, the maths simple isn't there, or at least for me it isn't.

With the right power rate, nothing is unprofitable, the majority of my gears run at 85-90w/th and I was always running them at a profit, but mining at a profit alone isn't the only indication of a successful business model, if I have to wait for 1-2 years to breakeven on my BTC or fiat investment while taking the risk of owning a mining gear that could very well just die on me halfway I rather just sit on the BTC I have and watch it grow against fiat without having to worry about it as it sits safe and sound in a cold wallet.

The way I picture us is 2017 all over again, I would argue that the cycle has lengthened by around 6 months or so, so I see it as May-June of 2017, looking back at the chart, difficulty and gear prices back then, you can tell that the best move during those last a few months of the cycle was to stay liquid in BTC and sell your way up because a few months later those who paid 2-5k for an S9 were looking back with bitterness at the decision they made.

Not to say that they weren't able to hit ROI later on, but a few months later those mining gears were sold for a fraction of the price mentioned, do I pay 4k for a used M20s when I can probably get it for $500 when this mania phase is over? or do I buy an S9i for $600 despite the fact that I paid $80 for it last year before this fomo takes over? to me, it doesn't make sense at all, and I am very confident that mining gear prices will come crashing next year, the best and the most effienct gear will take 50% hit.

I rather buy them cheap when everyone is selling them not when everyone is buying them, looking at the major telegram and FB groups people are just looking to buy, the demand on all mining gears is sky high, even from those who don't know how to use an online calculator and asking "how much x gear is going for and how much does it generate" are buying mining gears every day, they can't possibly end up making a profit, no business functions this way.
1943  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 13, 2021, 09:03:05 PM
I am not sure what they will add in the next 10 months but I suspect I will need to order a lot of something .

So what's your plan, just buy the new S19s when they hit the market?

My plan is a bit different, I think buying mining gears in the middle of the bull cycle is really a bad idea when measured against holding bitcoin, in all the previous cycles we saw that most gains come in the last 2-3 months of the cycle and then the next 2-3 months will wipe out all those gains, it has always been the case and I don't see why would it change now.

So the theory is, by holding bitcoin when we go parabolic you can easily and slowly sell your coins, but with mining, it isn't the case, you will enjoy 2-3 months of good rewards and then that's it, 3 months later your rewards and the value of the mining gear will most likely be reduced by half in the best-case scenario, which is why I rather stay as liquid as possible especially since we are already 3 years into this cycle and what's left in it is most likely a LOT shorter than what has passed.

I am interested in other folk's plans in regards to expanding or otherwise existing.

1944  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 12, 2021, 10:27:40 PM
It is a lot to ask 4 straight 4% jumps well one is almost done.

The means we need at least 6.40+6.65+6.92+7.19 EH increase for 4 straight jumps, it's hard to maintain which is why I still think we might not get a new ATH before next year, but again since we still have old gears that can come online at any second, let's just expect the words and say that we finish this year with a new ATH difficulty and a total hashrate of 180E.

we know that every 1EH is roughly 10,000 S19 pro which means by then we will need 72,000 S19 pro or the equivalent every 2 weeks(a bit less) to sustain a 4% increase, I think the maximum we can have will be 20-30k gears every two weeks, it so we likely won't be seeing anything above 2% increase once we pass the ATH, so 30T diff by June-July?
1945  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 Zeroes Missing on Asic Status of Two Hashboards on: November 12, 2021, 03:27:46 AM
Well, in fact, all 3 hash boards are missing zeros, you just couldn't notice the last one because it's missing a single chip.

When you carefully browser through the kernel log you will see the chip count test states the following.

Code:
Chain[J6] has 26 asic
Chain[J7] has 22 asic
Chain[J8] has 62 asic

The complete chip count for all S9 miners (excluding S9k and SE versions) is 63 asic, J8 will work fine with 1 missing chip, actually, even boards showing 54 chips will work fine (the hash board is divided into sub-domains only certain chip failure will pass the test), the other two showings 26 and 22 will most likely not produce any hashrate, the most likely scenario for this issue is physical damage to one or more of the chips.

The problem is usually beyond fixing, but trying different firmware, PSU and all that might fix it.

1947  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); Overt AsicBoost; World First Mining Pool on: November 12, 2021, 01:15:05 AM
damn it I fucked up.  Embarrassed Embarrassed

I was going to withdraw, but I wanted to make sure I have the old PK i used for this account.   After a while I found it, but I started thinking, maybe i should use a new address. I added a new segwit wallet and then they wanted me to verify via my email.  But that old email I used is locked by google. I can't unlock it no matter what i try.  Now I'm fucked. I can't even go back to the old pay out address.   FUUUUCCK

Don't give up just yet, you still have a chance, you might be able to convince Slush to just send you the rewards to the old address, Artemis3 is a team member at BO and a good forum member so he should be first to reach out to.

The second person would be Irina the head of support, Jan Čapek is also a very helpful person (I think he is the founder or something), anyway, you can find all these folks on telegram https://t.me/BraiinsOS, you might want to PM them instead since that channel is more about the firmware than the mining pool itself, you don't want to be spamming the wrong group.

Again, don't feel bad, chances are, you are going to get your money back, keep us updated.
1948  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4+ EH] Slush Pool (slushpool.com); Overt AsicBoost; World First Mining Pool on: November 11, 2021, 08:17:02 PM
Can anyone help me?
I used to mine on slush pool back in 2014 or so.

I only mined for about a year and just today my friend said he is starting to mine. I told him I used to mine on slush and for shits I went to login to see if my account still works. I guess I left some "dust" in there, (just under 0.01) and it used to be like 5 bucks or something and now it's like 600. Is there anyway I can get that out? I don't have a miner anymore so I can't really reach my 0.01 threshodl

Thanks for any help.

The minimum payout threshold on Slushpool is 0.001 BTC which is just about $65, so if you have just under 0.01 then you can withdraw without any extra fees, just set your payout address and wait for their payout, the maximum you have to wait on most pools is 24 hours assuming your timing is really bad.

1949  Economy / Speculation / Re: Getting early 2018 top vibes! on: November 11, 2021, 03:42:45 AM
Not even during the peak 2017 did I run into so many people who are talking about trading. Way too many people are making too much money trading these days. This can’t end well.

"The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.”.

I understand your concern but you need to be bullish in a bullish market like this one, there is only 1 peak and so many tops, every new ATH is more likely NOT the last rather than the opposite, it's really like betting on a ball that's spinning to stop in the next second, a spinning ball is always likely to keep spinning the next second unless you have the measures in place to actually stop it.

With that said, there is nothing wrong with taking some profit if you treat bitcoin as a short to med term investment, DCAing your way in and out of any market will usually be your best move in the long run.

"One of the 1st and Longest running" would be perfectly accurate.

I can vouch for this, but not this >

"Most successful"

Time isn't the only test a mining pool has to go through, someone could argue that being the largest pool is the most successful, honestly this "world-first mining pool" doesn't change anything, history is irrelevant as far as the future is concerned.
1952  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cleaned Antminer S9 (with compressed air) Hashboards not showing up on: November 09, 2021, 11:28:39 PM
Thanks for the reply. I tried testing them all one by one. I have one hash board that seems to not work. I get a red light on the board after the system boots up. Any idea what would cause this after blowing it out? It was working fine before just running hot due to the large amount of accumulated dust.

What did you use to blow them? what kind of compressed air are you talking about? if the pressure is too strong it could damage some components, especially if you placed the tool very close to the hashboard.

Can anyone tell why this problem happens?

Please start your own topic so we all can focus on one thing at a time, what you doing isn't helping anyone including yourself.
1953  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: T17 not hashing on: November 09, 2021, 09:42:21 PM
Those chip temps on board #2 look pretty high compared to pcb temp and other boards...

It's pretty normal for the chips on the middle dashboard to run slightly hotter than the other two, the difference in that picture is a bit over the average but nothing concerning to me at least, I have seen far greater variance than this, it could also be caused by something blocking the airway in the heatsink around the sensor that reports 82c.

if this was another gear I would advise him to clean it, but since this is a T17, I rather not touch them if they work, I remember a bunch of heatsinks coming off when I used an air blower to clean them, it's like they installed them using saliva instead of solder.
1954  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: hello i have s9 hashboard no hashing on: November 09, 2021, 12:27:43 AM
Does the kernel logs seem not completed and the last part shows vnish so I guess this is a customed firmware?

It is indeed vnish and the kernel log is (without a shadow of doubt) incomplete.

Code:
Checking fans!
1 fan ok

The next line show show

Code:
2 fan ok

or shows any fan-related errors, op you need to post the complete kernel log if you want answers, otherwise, you can only expect people guessing your problem which usually doesn't solve anything.
1955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Hacked block rewards? on: November 08, 2021, 11:17:15 PM
Well, the pool owner can write whatever they want on the status page, but if your miner did not reboot after it found the block, it should show the corresponding share for that block using that you can see if that block was actually accepted by the network, but really, you shouldn't be mining to a pool you have the slightest doubt about its owner.
1956  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer S9 hashboard rattling on: November 08, 2021, 01:11:59 AM
One of the hashboards is rattling like crazy inside the case.

That's the sound of BTC printing. Grin

Jokes aside, if the above isn't the cause, then it's those channels (where you insert the hash board), you need to make them tighter since they are for some reason (likely the heat) expand and fail to hold the hashboard firmly, maybe put some silicone in them? I know exactly what noise you are talking about, however, I never attempted to fix it because it doesn't really affect anything that matters to me, also what do you mean by the edge of the hash board? do you mean the bottom part?
1957  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2021, time for a new general & diff speculation thread... on: November 07, 2021, 09:37:59 PM
So if we are going to see +5% on nov 14 and on nov 27 and on dec 11 and on dec 25

I doubt we can maintain a 5% increase on every epoch, it takes more hashrate to add 5% on the next epoch than it takes to add the same % in this epoch and so on, however, I won't be surprised until all the gears that were once here show up, so all the way to difficulty of 25T anything can happen, from there onward we will hardly get 2-3% assuming we remain in a bull run.

Code:
السلام عليكم

ستحصل على هاش بهدا الشكل

Code:
673864421395a2c41d0cc32169177a1b0bd7d02db8d8a1bfe64dbbe41b1a5400

1960  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Antminer S17 pro fixed Frequency and Voltage default firmware on: November 05, 2021, 06:57:04 PM
Can you point out some good reading about the do's and don't s of setting your frequency and voltage to maximize performance and efficiency.

It depends on your goal, if you want efficiency then you are looking for "underclocking", which means you should set the voltage and frequency to the lowest settings available, and then slowly increase the frequency until the miner is no more stable, if you want to "overclock" the miner then it's a different approach, but it's more complicated than this given that the voltage on these gears is universal and not per hashboard.

However, I found that auto-tuning done by custom firmware to be a lot more effienct, not only does it control the frequency of each hashboard but it controls the frequency for every individual chip on each board, and given that different chips on the same hashboard can perform completely different, by maximizing the performance of all chips individually you get an overall much better result wether you are trying to increase the hashrate or the efficiency of the miner.
