2621  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Need help with cgminer-api on: August 17, 2022, 09:56:38 PM
What is the exact unit model of your machine?
How do you send these API commands?
Note that all bitmain units are API restricted or it has limited function. So if the commands that you want to make it work but do not work you can try access SSH and send that command there.
2622  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Failed to create BlockDataMap on: August 16, 2022, 11:42:14 PM
So, again I was not running Bitcoin CORE before I did this and it is out of date by 3 weeks.  Can you clarify for me if I should ALWAYS run Bitcoin Core BEFORE starting Armory ?   It seems like Bitcoin Core has to be up to date and online in order for any transactions to happen or at least complete ?

Yes, you must run Bitcoin core because it always needs up-to-date block data and it must be fully synced.

Armory does not work properly if your Bitcoin is not fully synced you need to wait for Bitcoin core to be fully synced and pull the latest data on Mainnet before you can use Armory wallet.
Unless you want to use Armory wallet offline you don't need your Bitcoin core to be fully synced and you can make a raw transaction with Armory offline.

What actually do you achieve here? Are you trying to recover your old wallet or do you just want to use Armory? As I already said above your MacOS is pretty old this might be the culprit why it doesn't work properly I'm using armory on my Windows 10 PC I haven't experienced those issues.

If you just want to recover something on the Armory wallet I think it would be better if you dump or backup the private key and switch to other wallets that supports your current version of MacOS.
2623  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Need help with cgminer-api on: August 16, 2022, 11:35:15 PM
Based on what I heard that cgminer api pools command it is a known issue that these commands you mention above do not work but try to read this one on how to use it

Why not try other OS like Braiins OS to try those API commands available on Braiins OS you can read this https://docs.braiins.com/os/plus-en/Development/1_api.html

You can also try HiveOS they do have more options on their web interface and I think you can achieve what you want to achieve in your ASIC unit.
2624  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Troubleshooting and repair guide for AvalonMiner models 721, 741, 761, 821 & 841 on: August 16, 2022, 10:59:42 PM
we try install firmware for avalon 920p on raspberry pi 3 model B+ but not work good . must on model B only .
i hope found firmware support model B+
If you already check the download.canaan-creative.com and no for model b+ it means they don't support this raspberry model I suggest look to someone who has raspberry pi 3 model b and make a deal to swap yours to his Raspi or buy rpi 2 model b which is a bit cheaper rasp3 model b.
2625  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 not logging into btc pool on: August 16, 2022, 02:02:18 PM
Actually, nicehash is not a pool and not good as a pool if I were you better switch to other pools.

You can try the ViaBTC pool here's the right link https://viabtc.net/ you can also use their .com domain.
Alternatively use this list https://miningpoolstats.stream/bitcoin
2626  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Moving to a new laptop on: August 15, 2022, 11:28:15 PM
This requires Kleopatra, if I recall, correct? Is there any link to a step by step process?

The step by step guide posted by hosseinimr93 above works before but in my case with windows 10 the latest version of Electrum some other process do not work you need to do this below to be able to verify the latest version of Electrum.

If you have a problem with the lookup server when trying to search the fingerprint from the link above you can try this guide below

- Open Command prompt as administrator
- then send this command
Code:
gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6
- Open Kleopatra and paste this below on the notepad
- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/spesmilo/electrum/master/pubkeys/ThomasV.asc
- Then you can now start verifying the downloaded electrum 4.3.0

If this still does not work read more from this below for other alternatives

2627  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Hotbit exchange suspends deposits, withdrawals and trading on: August 15, 2022, 10:59:52 PM
I'm using hotbit exchange before but I stop using them when I heard many users were stuck on withdrawal and most of the shitcoins are listed there.
I think what we see here is just likely the same as other shady exchanges where most of the coins are useless and exchanges end up scams.

This is why I don't stay holding coins on any shady exchanges I withdraw them right away after I exchange some shitcoin from their exchange.
2628  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A1246's Firmware and Openwrt OS on: August 15, 2022, 10:30:10 PM
Before they have firmware on their download page of this unit but they remove it last year I don't know why but I noticed the difference between their stock firmware and the firmware from their download page.

Anyway, have you tried to use their new tool called "Avalon Miner Upgrading Tool #Beta" it can automatically detect your unit and able to upgrade automatically the the latest version.

About sending commands, use the FMS app/tool that you can download at https://canaan.io/service/447
You can send API commands under diagnose.
2629  Other / Meta / Re: How to get 1 merit? on: August 15, 2022, 10:13:21 PM
I would like to post some threads with my thread designs on them, I need 1 merit however to post my images, how do i get this?

You are a newbie you won't be able to post any image but only the URL of the image. The above is optional if you want to instantly be able to post image you need to pay for copper membership.

Getting merit is not easy you need to be constructive or helpful and reply some useful response to every thread/post if someone found your post helpful I'm sure you will earn not just 1 merit but more than 1 merit.
2630  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Preev.com appears to be down again! on: August 14, 2022, 11:54:23 PM
There are a lot of options but Preev has established its reputation over the years, the good thing about this converter is they did not monetize their site, they did it out of love and service to the community, if they monetize it the money can be used to pay for the domain and hosting service but the developer opted not to place annoying ads, few webmasters do this.

Actually they do monetize their site before but they remove due to many complaints before about cloud mining ads and other ads that could affect their users because most of the ads companies like google are collecting data like location, IP, and PC information. Since many people complain about this and due to the new policy GDPR before they remove the ads.

If the ads is your problem in other alternatives why not host a Bitcoin converter on your own you can use something like this one https://github.com/wp-plugins/bitcoin-calculator-widget
It's outdated but you can edit the blockchain.info ticker into .com.
2631  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Trying to avoid a possible mess on: August 14, 2022, 04:01:29 PM
It can cool down your miner a bit but without exhausting the heat from your room it will just be mixing both cool and heat and it will still end up overheating.

You need to exhaust heat outside to make sure it won't mix or you can try to separate a room the other side is where your air conditioner is installed and the other side is for hot air where your miner exhaust is pointing on that side.

This is what I'm talking about below posted by philipma1957.

2632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mycelium Imported Private Key Backup on: August 13, 2022, 11:48:10 PM
You can backup it again if you know the password of that wallet.
If it's a mobile version then to backup the wallet just go to the accounts tab and select or tap the wallet you want to backup after you tap it then tap the 3 dots upper-right corner and then export accounts keys and then slide it from public key to private key to the right. Now hold the or long-press the screen and it should show the private key that you want to backup with the QR code.

Be careful with someone who PM you or avoid them at any cost because there are lots of scammers out there pretending to help you but in the end scammer.
2633  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum New UX/UI. on: August 13, 2022, 10:45:03 PM
I'm not suggesting making the app less secure or functional.
I'm just offering to make the mobile version more beautiful. Although I would also like to add an encryption/decryption function for message in mobile version.

I'm always using the mobile version of Electrum and never had any issues except on other features that I want from the desktop version like importing psbt transaction and like you said sign message function but it seems they don't have a plan to add such features. The design of the mobile version stays at Kivy GUI it seems they don't have yet a developer that knows more about designing Android apps that can't affect security functions.

If you have knowledge about designing an Android app like the above said you can join in Electrum Github page and develop a design of your own why not play the Kivy GUI design here below?

2634  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can mining be relied on for financial stability? on: August 12, 2022, 11:24:04 PM
It depends on your current condition where you live and if you have a very cheap or free electricity source.
Financial freedom can be achieved if you know how to keep holding them and only sell them at the right time.

Using the mine coins for trading is very risky unless you have knowledge and skills in trading and if you also have free power you don't need to worry about the monthly electricity bill and risk of loss in trading but mining units have a lifespan we do not know how long your mining units can mine. So you must manage them well if you want to achieve financial freedom(Always HODL is the best).
2635  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon miner 1166 pro miner board temperature error on: August 12, 2022, 11:05:13 PM
Hello, I have the same problem. Mine keep staying in idle not go online. It look like i have temp sensor issue. I took it apart, clean everything but still not work. My STA LED is red, PSU blinking green. In the backstage: Overview: Idle (green), Network:idle (in grey), configuration: Idle (green).  Someone iin another forum told me that i have temp sensor problem, i don't know where is the temp sensor located Undecided

Can anyone please help?

There are many reasons why you got these logs it could be a PSU or Fan or it is related to a program issue.

Would you mind to test out the Canaan new upgrading tool you can download it from here https://canaan.io/service/447
Download the Avalon Miner Upgrading Tool then try to upgrade your unit if not try manually flash your unit with the latest firmware.  You can download the firmware here https://download.canaan-creative.com/

Then if upgrading does not work try the aging method you can download the tool on the same link above with the name FMS tool the v2.3.3 version and then run it and look for the aging near diagnose button. To help refresh your unit and test it again.

If still doesn't work then disassemble the unit try to clean them and replug everything make sure there is no short circuit and test it again and like the above said check the fan if it's running fine.
2636  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: south africa has launched a SMS service to send bitcoin without internet on: August 12, 2022, 10:43:50 PM
SMS is not a good option for sending Bitcoin there is a thread recently that talks about SMS 2FA which I think is a bit related and in most of the responses there is SMS hijacking where SMS provider and selected staff can able to check or monitor your text messages or someone who physically have your sim card can able to make a sim clone which is not safe because both of you can able to receive a message or if it's bitcoin then both of you receive the same then the clone one can able to make a transaction send to the hacker's wallet.

It is likely a grin coin but the only difference is that you can't send it through SMS instead you can send a grin coin through a file or HTTP listener without internet.
2637  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How can I get a result less than the network's difficult target ? on: August 12, 2022, 10:35:27 PM
Are you talking about altcoins?
Because I think you can't able to target less or lower network difficulty you can do that before but right now you can't most of the mining units right now are plug and play(Setup pool and account.)

Or are you talking about the network hashrate result on a given difficulty? You might need to read this link below

2638  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for the best bitcoin miner between 2000-4000$ on: August 12, 2022, 10:12:03 PM
s19's are costly. over 4k

Offordscott offers $3.8k s19j pro not brand new but used units he posted it recently on his telegram here https://t.me/asicEasternHemisphere
That's the only option if you want to buy Antminer units a bit cheap compared to buying directly in Bitmain.

And it seems most of the Canaan units are another option if you want cheap and brand new units.
2639  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What are the top ASIC chip manufactures? on: August 12, 2022, 09:56:12 PM
There are many right now who produce ASIC chips but for Antminer I think they develop their own ASIC chips same goes for Canaan or Avalon units.
However, there are produced ASIC chips outside of these manufacturers most of the source is from China.

I don't think you can buy only ASIC chips directly from ASIC miner manufacturers before they do sell them but right now they don't sell them you can only buy them on 3rd parties like on zeusbtc.com.
2640  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 not hashing after power failure on: August 12, 2022, 09:22:53 PM
I don't think if this is the hashboard issue you need to check and verify first if this is actually the hashboard issue.

Look at this logs

Code:
main.c:9183: get PIC voltage=6 on chain[5], value=940
main.c:9183: get PIC voltage=142 on chain[6], value=860
main.c:9183: get PIC voltage=125 on chain[7], value=870

I noticed abnormal power on Chain[5] it might be a PSU issue, not the hashboard since you said earlier that there had been a power failure recently mostly affected are PSU.

What I would like you to do is try to swap PSU cables and ribbon cables of that hashboard then test them one by one to make sure if one hashboard is broken. If you don't know how to test them one by one check this link below.
