2641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saylor steps down as Microstrategy CEO on: September 01, 2022, 10:22:54 AM
Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, although the media will now crucify Saylor

Well said. Is it me or somebody is trying to revive the "bitcoin is illicit money" narrative, although it's probably vastly unrelated to bitcoin.
He and the company are clearly not poor, so I don't really feel sorry for them. Justice will have the final word, I guess.

Going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. Settle it? Fight it out in court? Something else?

I have a feeling they may try - especially at first - to drag/stall it by fighting in court... at least until Bitcoin price returns on uptrend and MicroStrategy funds start looking good again.
2642  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Going 3x this month for swing trading worth it? on: September 01, 2022, 10:15:59 AM
Can bitcoin dip down below $14000?

It's hard to tell and the answer is not a definitive "no". The bear market may not be over yet, you may have to wait 1-2 months for that. Maybe even 3.
But you said it yourself: "Future trading is extremely risky".
2643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Projects and social initiatives accepting donations in bitcoin on: September 01, 2022, 09:42:34 AM
The Hodlonaut trial may also worth mentioning. It doesn't help local communities, it helps bitcoin itself. The website www.defendingbtc.com gives details and also donations page is linked.
If you have missed the context, the topic We are all Hodlonaut is a good entry point.
2644  Other / Archival / Re: Fake trading volumes still thrive among exchanges on: September 01, 2022, 09:36:38 AM
Regarding the fake volume, no surprises there as that's the industry standard - everything that can be faked is faked.

I agree on this, although... I start to also think that somebody may want to force independent audit for (all?) exchanges from financial institutions, actually targeting the traders who "forget" to declare their profits in full.
2645  Economy / Economics / Re: BITCOIN IS NOT A STORE OF VALUE on: September 01, 2022, 09:06:21 AM
I've seen yesterday a nice tweet, although old.

Bitcoin's primary function is not "store of value" - that's a result of its primary function.
Bitcoin is "fuck you money."

For example:
You want to seize my accounts? Fuck you.
You don't want me to buy ______? Fuck you.
You want to steal my wealth via inflation? Fuck you.

I will add that, as Jameson Lopp also wrote, the store of value part comes from the primary functionality.
And while the so much claimed gold and such are not as rare as some choose to believe, Bitcoin scarcity is programmed and 100% clear.

I will also add something directly to OP, more specifically to this:

Keeping in mind the most important factor, without gold and silver, all electronic equipment wouldn't exist = bitcoin would not exist. Computers, phones, tv's, etc ALL require silver and gold to be manufactured.

Based on your logic, copper, quartz/sand (SiO2) and plastic are also a store of value. Be my guest in storing your funds in that.
2646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need help with signature on: September 01, 2022, 07:08:39 AM
Hello everyone. Some accounts have cool signatures, so I thought about how can I make one for myself. Maybe there is some service to create a signature? Or is it making in some other way? I couldn't find anything suitable on the forum yet.

As already said, since you're newbie, you cannot wear a signature yet. Even more, the higher your rank will be, the richer the signature can be (also meaning the the first ones you'll wear may be rather dull/simple).
However, since you've asked about services for creating signatures, I'll also add here a link you may want to look up when the time will come: Overview of Bitcointalk Designers(Signature,Avatar, etc)

In afara premiului extra in BTC, se pare ca icopress incearca sa aduca doua noi premii, unul pentru castigator si unul pe care sa il castige unul dintre participanti. Premiile constau in doua portofele hardware personalizate, sigilate, marca Betnomi.

2648  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - days since last all time high on: September 01, 2022, 06:46:05 AM
As per the 4 year cycle disciples believers, it takes almost exactly 1 year from the peak of the bull market in order to form a bear market low, so that's something to consider here rather than arbitrary numbers.

Let's look a bit more to that rule:
First it took more than a year (November to January).
Then it took one year (December to December).
Some may say that this time it will take less than a year. Still, November to July feels a bit short, hence either the rule is incorrect, either we are pretty close to a new leg down.

I do think that there's a good chance for the 4-year cycle get repeated, but imho this only tells that in the winter the bear market will end and we cannot be that precise about when the market low happens.
2649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: F1 Formula Sports Racing - Sportsbet.io promotions & discussion thread on: September 01, 2022, 06:19:32 AM
Perez is no longer happy. It was visible when he was on the podium. It's always possible that Redbull will be P1 P2... but that P1 will never be Perez's unless it's a mishap, fine, or malfunction. Unfortunately, Perez's fate is similar to Bottas, Webber and Barichello's fate. If you become a teammate with a great talent, you have to accept to be the 2nd finish. I don't think he is a pilot who will ever be the 1st pilot of a top team. There are 2 things that pilots like Sainz, perez and bottas can do;
1- Being the 1st pilot of the middle rank teams and making surprise podiums
2- Being in the first 3 teams and being the 2nd pilot
I think the first one is better than the other.

While he is very talented, we should still not forget that not long ago he was extremely close to leave Formula1, maybe for good.
Yes, it's frustrating when you don't get any chance to win the races, still, he has a very good car (lately may be the very best car in F1) and, if you compare the chances between Max not ending the race and a place 4+ team winning the race... the odds are pretty much similar.
So if he only focuses to his team mate, yes, it's disappointing. If he compares to all the pilots, hey, he's the second pilot in F1 2022, which is not too shabby.

And since you've mentioned Bottas and Co, I don't know if you guys have noticed the games of the fate: the two DNF cars were the old team mates - Lewis and Valtteri...
2650  Economy / Speculation / Re: All Eyes On Bitcoin’s Monthly Close on: August 31, 2022, 06:02:36 PM
You've made two topics today on monthly close? I start to think that this monthly close didn't get the attention you've been expecting and try to do more.

Well, we're in bear market. And the bear market will end. Maybe it did, or maybe it ends today, or in a couple days, weeks or months. Learn to have more patience and enjoy the ride. And yeah, HODL.

later it will be produced on site by means of electrolysis and regeneratively generated electricity

Oh, thanks, I've missed that bit.

They say they will produce hydrogen "regeneratively" which appears to imply energy scavenging of some type. Regenerative braking?

It could be a world's first. I don't know of anyone who opted for on site hydrogen fuel generation. It will be interesting to see what they came up with.

It is indeed interesting. Regenerative braking and other means of scavenging energy as electricity would do better in a similar way as hybrid cars do, i.e. having also an electrical engine that can run now and then. Transporting that and transforming it back into H2 is pretty much a waste imho. But really I don't know what they have in mind, I'm out of ideas/scenarios.
2652  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Busan Agrees To Create Digital Asset Exchange With FTX on: August 31, 2022, 05:49:41 PM

So 5 years and a lot of money ($55M ?) for... basically a subsidiary of FTX in Busan?!
It looks to me more a "business" of leeching money than doing something productive...
2653  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] DefiDive – A lightweight crypto price, news and information terminal on: August 31, 2022, 02:03:06 PM
The news area could need more newspaper sources, not only CoinTelegraph Wink (I don't know, btctimes and others, although I know that if they're too many you'll end up with duplications)
Also I would suggest you keep the (news) filter between sessions (cookie?)
2654  Economy / Speculation / Re: why does BTC price appear to follow the performance of US equities markets? on: August 31, 2022, 01:22:29 PM
If bitcoin is genuinely global, why does its price appear to follow the performance of US equities markets?

Bitcoin is an asset type that is unrelated to US stocks. This indicates that it is sometimes neutral, sometimes negatively correlated, and sometimes favourably correlated. Those who argue different are just cherry-picking statistics from bitcoin's price history.

As you said, finding some short-timed correlations doesn't mean anything. Zoom to see the prices for many years in the past - at very least 5-6. They are not correlated.
But... especially lately, there are moments the investors (in many cases same investors in stocks and bitcoin too!) will buy in - both stocks and bitcoin - and sometimes liquidate all (or most of) the investments. This can sometimes give the impression of correlation. While this doesn't happen much yet, I don't rule out this will happen more and more often in the future.
2655  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Which one is your most favorite alternative to Preev.com? on: August 31, 2022, 12:39:28 PM
Sorry if I may be disappointing some people here and there, but right now my favorite is one... that's not yet on your list either: https://preecs.coolstorage.org/  (maybe you can still add it? actually there are many others that could be added to the list, including https://bitcoindata.science/bitcoin-units-converter.html)

Also, as said, some of those from your list do have (at least for now) the exact same software behind, making for some the choice stand in the preference in website name, where preev.net has a good chance for winning.
Plus, since preev.net will most probably change or improve the script, even my favors may be shifting towards it sooner or later.
2656  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can this be the reason some people are afraid to invest in Bitcon? on: August 31, 2022, 12:30:29 PM
The typical human mind initially considers the fictitious drawbacks and rejects the possibility of another type of money. However, a growing number of individuals are visiting exchanges like Binance, Primexbt, Kraken, etc. People are afraid because they were taught to be afraid as child. This is, unfortunately, what the educational system does.

I am also a victim. Wish I had joined this forum earlier.

Your post is somewhat confusing.
First of all, it's normal to be cautious about everything. It's not about being taught as child, it's about evolution. Else we would be still eating mostly poisonous mushrooms.
The problem is that people were taught to trust authority, and authority is (at least sometimes) unreliable or blatantly incorrect.

What's the issue with education system? Simple: in many cases is insufficient and poorly structured, hence not getting enough people to the point they can think for themselves (hence they rely on what the authority tells them to do).
So yes, educational system has issues, but calling it bad is unfair at best. And this is what you imply. And nothing stops us from helping our children get more info than the educational system provides and learn how to use best that info.

You say you're a victim. Victim of what? Of education? Victim of exchanges? (What does some unknown exchange do between known and reputed exchanges?)
2657  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Any one interested to assist me to build a new Bitcoin Explorer ? on: August 31, 2022, 11:03:29 AM
Does anyone think the OP is serious? Just ten days ago he was asking questions like this - and today he wants some kind of magical Bitcoin explorer Roll Eyes What's next? Designing digital good fairies to fly around handing out free Bitcoins to people?

I am still to decide if he's trolling or it's just a completely confused kid who wants to make a crypto business (i.e. earn money) without any correct knowledge about bitcoin whatsoever and without a basic understanding on how to run a business (have a clear idea, discuss with professionals whether it can be done or not, acknowledge that people must be paid for their effort).
2658  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Crypto 2023 expectations? on: August 31, 2022, 10:56:07 AM
What is your plan & expectations?

Since you seem to care and asking solely about price, this would fit better into Speculation really...
I mean, I see nothing overly serious to be said here.

I expect some <5% say that they hope for low price they can buy more, some >90% who hope the price goes to the moon and beyond (although honestly 20k is already moon imho) and never goes downside again so they can become rich and never have to work. And some remaining few % will be trolls with answers that don't worth reading.

My hopes and expectations are that current bear market ends before 2023 starts. As simple as that.
2659  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN SV IS DEAD! on: August 31, 2022, 10:51:07 AM
I've fixed the title for OP.
I have nothing to add. We have a known troll who should be on everybody's ignore list (ideally even for the brand new accounts too).

[~snip~]
It is interesting that they plan to generate hydrogen fuel on site.

I didn't find any reference to generating the H2 in-place, they seem to only store and transfer it.
----

However, it may be a quite normal development in the current days. With so many means of regenerable energy produced, but which is not reliable 24/7, with the lack of solutions to store that energy or use it in grid continuously, I guess that it's not a bad direction to use it used for producing H2 (and that may be what the article was referring to).
