Vai, dar de când urlu pe toate canalele ca începătorii să nu mai ia de bun tot ce scrie toată lumea pe rețele de socializare sau prin ziare. Ceea ce zice lumea nu este neapărat ce crede sau face lumea.
Nu e cel mai bun exemplu, dar totuși e dinainte de social media: "fă ce zice popa, nu ce face popa". De ce oare?

Nu sunt de acord. Cred că principalul motiv este ca turma să aibă iluzia de libertate. Altfel unii vor țipa ca din gură de șarpe că li-s încălcate drepturi. Și se ajunge la o revoluție, adică acei politicieni își pierd din drepturi (posibil doar temporar), iar alții vor ieși în față (unii fiind interpuși ai primilor, dar astea-s detalii).
Dar da, și politicienii au de ascuns - și bani/bunuri/valori, și informație.


Nu cred că e chiar așa. Monero e copil mic. Bitcoin, aurul și arta cred că ramân de bază. Monero a scăzut mai mult decât a crescut, cel puțin comparativ cu Bitcoin. Pui 100 Bitcoin in 200 de adrese și nu pari bogat. Nu văd de ce și-ar complica politicienii (prin definiție atehnici!!) viața cu Monero.
Partea cu iluzia de libertate e mai bună ca explicație. Hai să nu fim prea paranoici, OK?


Mulți nu înțeleg că un server asociat unui client SPV poate colecta o grămadă de informații, mulți își mixează bitcoinii și apoi îi trimit înapoi în Electrum legându-i la loc cu restul tranzacțiilor personale. Iar dacă una a trecut printr-un CEX, e clară treaba.
Și cred că și cu LN se va ajunge repede la ceva asemănător (dar nu știu încă suficient de bine cum funcționează intern).


Depinde dacă doar își ține ușile încuiate, sau se și afișează în fundul gol la geam (parafrazându-ți oarecum propoziția de la început).


Poate că sunt eu bătut în cap, dar cred că exagerezi.

A strong password, also maybe 2FA added on top of that, all do help. (But make sure the 2FA device is different than the one your browser or Exchange app is.)
I use a password manager (Bitwarden) and it has a great password generator too. Since I started using this my passwords are longer (all 15+, usually even 20+) and with bigger set of characters too; and more random too. Just look how nice the Generator is and how beautiful the resulted password



In this context I will add something more: don't keep too much money on exchanges; the hackers may be from outside or from inside; in some cases (bankruptcy or exit scam) even a strong password or 2FA won't help.

1. As already said, relying on your memory for passwords is a bad and risky practice.
2. If the password is strong, USB sticks can be handy, but don't rely only on them; USB sticks can break rather easily too. But I would store there the seed (too), maybe archived with the same very strong password. If by odd chance the electrum wallet format changes by a lot until "next time", the seed may become handy.
3. I would also consider handling the seed completely offline (maybe on a live system), let's not expose it in the attempt to make backup.
4. I would consider using a hardware wallet and backup that one's seed (and only the seed). I expect the only relevant extra the wallet file could hold is labels.

zeroconf is still optional for now and default is off. Afaik it's version 25 that will probably make full RBF 100% live.
The merchants will have to adapt their logic. They probably were expecting until now too that a small % of users may try to cheat even without the RBF flag on. Now the things get clearer (and easier too for the cheaters). So all the merchants will need to wait for at least one confirmation. Those relying on zero confirmation may have had an unfair advantage over the rest. Now, everybody who wants fast transactions, ... the only proper choice is LN (and this may be seen as political).

Pot să confirm oarecum. Eu am avut 1000 de merite direct când s-a intrat pe acest sistem. Primele 500 (1000-1500) le-am primit relativ ușor. Apoi, până la 2000 - cel mai greu. Apoi iar au început să vină parcă din ce în ce mai ușor.
Dar, uitându-mă în urmă, pot să zic și că am alternat perioade mai "bune" cu perioade mai "seci". Deci regulă prea clară tot nu există, cred.

Din păcate habar n-ai despre ce vorbești. Aceste "improvizații" cum le numești tu, nu au legătură cu diminuarea costurilor, ci au alte două roluri:
* deschid calea către Lightning, tehnologia care are potențialul să facă bitcoin acceptat chiar și la supermarket
* ajută să se "înghesuie" mai multe tranzacții (decât pe vremuri) într-un bloc

Și pe când orice cod nou poate avea probleme, se pare că tu nu știi ce înseamnă double spend. Double spend înseamnă că odată ce tranzacția e confirmată, cineva va "rescrie istoria" și va înlocui blocuri. Păi asta nu s-a schimbat de când cu SegWit și deci nu s-a introdus o vulnerabilitate nouă. Îți trebuie "doar" suficienți mineri "nasoli" să depășească puterea celor "buni" (baftă cu asta!) și se face.
Aaa, că unii nu știu ce fac și cred că dacă o tranzacție nu este confirmată, ea contează, problema lor; alea tot timpul se puteau înlocui dacă îți puneai asta în cap.

Din câte știu, bcash-erii au asemenea povești. Ei zic că Bitcoin nu mai e Bitcoin de... când și-au despărțit ei moneda lor alternativă, pe care încă încearcă să o vândă la fraieri.

Deși zici că te-ai fi străduit să scrii cu picioarele (vezi și recomandarea din celălalt răspuns), m-am străduit să îți înțeleg raționamentul.
Și deși "demonstrația" cred că lasă semnificativ de dorit, plus că la bani nu e vorba doar de "impresia" că cineva te fură, ai ceva dreptate acolo. Prețul și valoarea sunt într-adevăr concepte diferite, iar prețul poate să reflecte sau nu valoarea.


Teoretic, cred că prin hotărâre judecătorească se poate ajunge să poată fi confiscabile cheia privată sau cuvintele pentru recuperarea portofelului, și deci bitcoinii.
Sau, prin confiscarea laptopului sau a telefonului se poate să se ajungă la portmoneu (nu toți își ascund cheia privată ca în filme).
Deci nu este chiar atât de deplasată ideea că, într-adevăr, nu în mod direct, dar bitcoinii se pot considera confiscabili, cam la fel ca orice proprietate.

I don't know though if it records info or not, but (obviously) such pages must be ran offline anyway, which most people don't understand nor do.

Somehow people must learn to handle their money security and, sadly, some will do it on the hard (and expensive) way.

Most probably because they expect some people try to generate wallets for themselves with this software, directly online. And by adding a few lines of code, the clone will also save into the scammers' database all the seeds this page generates. It's the other way around: both 32bit and 64bit CPUs support 32bit OS, just in case of 32bit you have some RAM limitations, and only the 64bit CPUs support 64bit OS.

For this, when an item is scanned, you may mark it "scanned" and link it to the future invoice and when the invoice is paid, all the linked items you mark as "paid". An item is free to leave only if it's paid.
Simple logic. Where would cryptography help? Why do you want to add extra layers of complexity for something that can be done in a simple way?

And you said you want to avoid RFID. If you avoid that, you will want a way to find out a product has left the perimeter, sometimes being concealed between other products? How else could you do this???!? Cameras can partly help, maybe. Cryptography is .. not for this, it's completely useless in the equation.


There are already clothes shops where the RFID is embedded and you may not even find it easily.

It can be a fun project for one who has the time, obviously. Second hand laptop may be a bit more power hungry and nowadays electricity may be expensive in certain areas/countries. And Raspberry Pi devices are overpriced and hard to find (in my country there's only one official shop and it's always out of stock since more than a year ago).
However, I agree, it makes much more sense as a fun project than something to use for long term.

I didn't go into the internals, since I don't have extra smartphone for the job (although I find it sa cool idea since it may consume less than a laptop for the job), however, maybe somebody does a cross-check between the threads.

As the other post said, your only real chance to make a deal is to use an escrow (I think that this is the most recent list). Without that, sorry, but you look more like somebody who wants to scam than somebody who wants to make a deal.

There may be a misunderstanding or something I simply don't know, but aren't all the transfers in banking business involving at least a bank? So no P2P there. It's account from bank1 to account in bank2.
And I've never had to call or fax anyone for my transfers, I've just done them from the bank app on my phone and that's all.

Plus, maybe the older types of bank transfers were worse and needed that kind of checking you're talking about, but nowadays, with SEPA for example, all is faster and automated.


CBDCs can indeed make faster the interaction between fiat and crypto - pretty much like stable coins work. But only that will not make me cheer for them; they're far too powerful weapons against people's privacy and that's not OK.

I expected the payments are handled by the cashier with a software and device provided by a bank or payment processor and you probably integrate with that.
Do you want to handle payments yourself? Are they bitcoin payments? Are they also fiat payments too? What you mean by fake payments?
Do you expect your database (with products, prices, tags/barcodes/QR) be ... public/exposed?
