2661  Other / Meta / Re: Am I allowed to throw a small giveaway? on: September 09, 2022, 09:35:11 AM
If you're OK with accepting entries via PM or off-site (e.g. via Google Forms) as opposed to posting them in one or more threads (which isn't allowed), yeah, you are. Post it in Bounties (Altcoins).

I've just looked it up and from what I see:
* In Bounties (Altcoins) one of the pinned posts tells "Giveaway threads are not allowed"
* OP has tried to start a giveaway, but
** somebody has ignored OP request (for PM) and answered with address
** the whole topic got removed (found topic 5412920 in modlog)

While I understand that the rules are there to avoid mindless spam, I also feel for users like OP and maybe we can do something about it.
I mean, look at the sheer number of (nice!) raffles in collectible section. Maybe we should somehow find a solution for this?

So i feel generous and i would like to give someone 25 bucks in litecoin am I allowed to do that? No rules nothing to do

Giveaway with no rules means some may create 100s of new accounts to participate. Maybe you want to do better  Wink
2662  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] DefiDive – A lightweight crypto price, news and information terminal on: September 09, 2022, 08:44:00 AM
You asked for a way to keep news filters between sessions. We delivered this into production this morning.

While the filters are remembered as long as I navigate defidive, if I close the tab and open it again, that's lost.
I am telling this just as "debug info" in case you need it, since for me you've handled the problem gracefully with this other approach:

Filters are now added to the URL so you can bookmark a selection of filtered news that you want to see.

So yes, I've made the correct bookmark and I'm good. Thank you.
Even more, I see you have at least one more news source, very nice, keep'em coming!  Smiley

LE: can you please add (sometime in the future, no rush) also Monero to the list of coins for news/filters?
2663  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in-$200 FreeBTC⭐Win Lambo🔥0.2BTC DailyJackpot🏆$32,500 Wager Contest on: September 09, 2022, 07:46:45 AM
as it is not longer "Ferrari are the fastest on straight tracks, RB on corners". And about home track - of course you may feel better "at home", but also there are bigger expectations (and pressure).

Max said (ironically) not long ago something like his car is the fastest on the straits, and on the corners too  Smiley
The thing is that after the last two races he looks like the most solid option for the winner, but F1 tends to offer suprises.

If we're lucky and Ferrari stops sabotaging himself, maybe we get a better chance to see some good racing either between RBR and Ferrari, either between Ferrari and Mercedes.
2664  Economy / Reputation / Re: User DigitalMonk - suspicious behavior! on: September 09, 2022, 07:41:27 AM
In the end, the highest punishment would be the thread locked or messages deleted.

Actually the highest punishments go until temporary or permanent ban. Just look for game-protect, who has taken trolling and scam to a completely new level.

Could it be that trolls are handled case by case?

Clearly.

But in the case of the alleged monk, it could be that the mods figured out that his posts are full of frivolities and hence dismissed and marked them unharmful. In the case that Monk want to involve in business, he already got neg tags and a flag in his profile. I believe he should be very much harmless now.

I can't say what the mods think; I've done my part, although now I feel the (neutral) tag I've given him was almost too soft.
I see now he's playing the victim card: he has a new topic asking why is he hated by the leaders of the forum (heh).
2665  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why I have been hated by the Bitcoin Forum leaders? on: September 09, 2022, 07:33:32 AM
Some people think I could be troll.

Let me see:
  • you have announced you've made a bitcoin service, but your questions show you have not even the basic knowledge about Bitcoin
--> This means that you put people's money at risk, hence you can easily be tagged as scammer

  • you have asked people to help you build a block explorer which you don't even know if it's meant to be block explorer, DEX or OTC exchange
--> This means that you are trolling and have no respect for people's work/effort

  • you have announced some strange ambassador program you implied you're offering (big) money, but you've never shown any proof of money (nor promised at least to escrow it)
--> This is somewhere trolling and scam

People don't care about your name. People don't hate you per se; people hate to be taken for fools and this is what your actions are implying, hence the response you've got.

So maybe instead of asking why the community is doing this, you should start asking what you have been doing wrong.
2666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 09, 2022, 07:22:56 AM
In a country where everyone is trying to enrich their generation, where an average person called leaders been corrupt but ones giving a slight opportunity they do worse, where do you think the hope lies?

My country is not far from that either. But, 25 years ago for example, it was much worse.

It takes years to get things right

Yep, many years.

Africa is facing backwardness in fighting corruption, religious difference, nepotism and Self-interest

It's not something specific to Africa. Same goes on in Eastern Europe too. So you're not telling me anything new. This still happens here too.

and it has killed the political interest in me totally

This is exactly what the bad politicians want: kill the interest in the smart people so the dumb masses keep voting for them. One solution is to disrupt the system with new political parties, with better goals than only getting rich. But that too has more chances for failure than success. As I said from the start, all this goes painfully slow and there are (far too) many disappointments.

---
However, let's get back to the actual topic: banks are private businesses. They have a predatory mentality and will go for their sole interest if they're allowed.
Since politics is slow and tricky solution, Bitcoin remains the proper option, clearly.

And I was just thinking... Africa also has smart people, Africa must also have smart programmers; while people don't tell their nationality in most cases, I have a feeling Africa is under-represented as developers for bitcoin tools. Am I wrong?
2667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 08, 2022, 01:40:35 PM
I have never and will never fabricate story. If because of the pictures you said the story is fake. The images are models to the information.

The most problematic image have shown the queue of people waiting, which may or may not have been happening in your case.
However, I do hope you're telling the truth, at least in the text you wrote.

Next time, you better post your own images (nowadays everybody has a smartphone and it's not hard to make a few pictures if you really want to) or live without them, instead of using others' images which, as you've seen, may easily come with extra troubles (even if you are not lying, this can be seen as plagiarism now).
2668  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Giveaway section on: September 08, 2022, 12:00:19 PM
I want to throw a small giveaway cause Im feeling a bit generous is there a specified section for it? or where I can post it?

Very nice from you!
First of all, this question may need to be moved to Meta.
Second, in order to get an answer, you'll have to tell a bit more, like what you plan to give, since it depends whether it's bitcoin, or altcoin, or goods, for example.
2669  Economy / Economics / Re: 'We don’t have enough' lithium globally to meet EV targets, mining CEO says on: September 08, 2022, 10:43:12 AM
If the Taliban are still in power in that country (and I don't see who would replace them), I don't believe that we will see glamor and wealth there, regardless of what is under their feet. Maybe some individuals will get rich, but ordinary people are far from basic human freedoms in that country and that will not change with the Taliban's crazy laws.

That's like that pretty much everywhere, although indeed in some oil-rich countries newborn children already get some nice funds, in a way or another and this probably won't happen in Afghanistan.
But I've read about human rights ignored even at construction sites in UAE / Dubai, so... I clearly don't expect more in Afghanistan. Still, usually after a certain amount of wealth this is hidden under the carpet.

It seems that these problems will also become a part of the past, at least if the news that appeared these days is to be believed.

This is interesting news, thank you for that.
I will remain somewhat skeptical since they may tell only the good news and some things are hidden, plus the reliability issues many Chinese products have, you know.. so we can have a better image after this gets into heavy commercial use. Still, it's a good step in the good direction.
And this also gives an interesting info: they will probably keep using Lithium...
2670  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] FreeBitco.in Signature Campaign | Sr./Hero/Legendary | on: September 08, 2022, 09:43:43 AM
what a hypocritical thing

Au contraire, I find it hypocritical to do it behind his back, in a PM.
Even more, the damage was already done, see that topic.
But maybe I should not argue, you are entitled to have an opinion...
2671  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] FreeBitco.in Signature Campaign | Sr./Hero/Legendary | on: September 08, 2022, 09:10:21 AM
In my understanding that you are reporting to a wrong authority. I do not need to mention that spams are supposed to be reported to mods and not to the campaign manager.

I've obviously reported that to mods too. I still think that the signature campaign managers, especially as reputed as this one, should know about this kind of things.
(And also the user should be notified that we know; so he can improve)

2673  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] FreeBitco.in Signature Campaign | Sr./Hero/Legendary | on: September 08, 2022, 07:36:38 AM
@Hhampuz: I would like to bring to your attention this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5412825.msg60902004#msg60902004
I've also archived here the entire topic: https://archive.ph/gp3Dl

You will see that the first answer is unrelated to the topic and just some generalities, i.e. the user just rushed to post something, anything.

(I don't like to do this privately/hidden, maybe the user deserves a second chance; that's why I didn't PM. It's up to you what you do with this information).
2674  Economy / Reputation / Re: False Info : Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 08, 2022, 07:29:39 AM
Agbe I know we all dislike banks and what they are putting people through but don't you think it will be better to provide accurate or near accurate info rather than false information to mislead the forum members?
My problem with your post is that you make it look like this happened recently while it has happens since 2020 prior to lock down or so according to the article.

Wow, thank you for noticing this. I've just asked Agbe clear this up, since it's ugly if he indeed did this (and as it seems now he did...)

With Bitcoin. No such fear, no such risk.

You can broadcast your transaction to the network, nodes and miners will confirm transactions with priority on highest fee rates first. If you don't use too low fee rate your transaction will be confirmed sooner. If you use too low fee rate your transaction will be stucked longer. Fortunately you can use Replace  by fee if you use a non custodial wallet and mark your transaction as RBF when you broadcast it initially.

More fortunately, it's your keys, it is your coin. It is only if you use a non custodial wallet with it nobody can freeze your Bitcoin or steal your Bitcoin. It is big different and much better than central banks.

I agree with @Anonylz
This kind of posts need reported both to mods and to the campaign manager (LE: done). I would have been expecting a tad more from a Hero Member..
2675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 08, 2022, 07:25:06 AM

After I've answered honestly believing your story, I find out now that all this is most probably fabricated using images from 2020 and the pandemic??
See: False Info : Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option

What you say about this?
2676  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin, Not for everyone. on: September 08, 2022, 06:43:20 AM
To own 1 bitcoin from now on really not many people can do

I think that $20k is doable in most western countries. The problem is that most of those affording $20k don't trust bitcoin so they invest so much in that.
Somehow we forget that we're still a small community; and we also forget that this is only the beginning, bitcoin is still young.
For western then it would be likely that really that hard but for those who do live on east or 3rd world countries then it would really be close to impossible thats why we cant really say that it would be simple.1 decade on its existence is indeed not that too late for people who do tend to invest. Its not really necessary to get 1 whole coin since you could really get bitcoin on fractions
which means it would really be just basing on what you could really able to afford but of course you should always mind about risk because there's no guarantee that it would really
take off on the future but basing and looking into its potential then there's no doubt about that and Bitcoin is for everybody as long you do know on what it is
even with just the basic understanding then you're good to go no matter what status you do have.

Like in every investment, the same rule is there for Bitcoin too: don't invest what you don't afford to lose. Of course, poor people, people who clearly don't afford investing (into anything at all) will be missed out. The few who can afford to invest will probably have to invest less and lower their expectations (maybe 0.1 BTC?).
After all, while Bitcoin is an interesting investment, it's not a simple "get rich quick" scheme.
2677  Economy / Economics / Re: 'We don’t have enough' lithium globally to meet EV targets, mining CEO says on: September 08, 2022, 06:37:37 AM
Many years ago back in 2014, it was announced that afghanistan might hold more than $1 trillion dollars worth of rare earth minerals as well as large lithium deposits.

This only means that maybe in 10 years Afghanistan may become the new UAE, with the glamor and riches. How fast, it depends on how fast the rulers there figure this out.

But imho this "news" may be more an attempt of PLL to create some panic and rise the prices, than anything else.
Imho the main problem of EVs is not the lithium now, it's the fact the current type of batteries is not suitable for such use (they don't last long enough and charging is also not fast enough). And when the new generation of batteries will emerge, those may or may not use Lithium.
So, again, I think it's more that PLL is trying to protect their business than anything else in that article.

You can always purchase basic necessities using these or purchase items online and resell them.

1. As already said, when crypto is banned, you won't be able to buy these cards for your country.
2. In many countries the offer for these gift cards is very limited. In my case, phone refills (but not for the cheaper operator I use), books and furniture are not really the "basic necessities"... (some of BitRefill's Visa/MC debit cards may be useful though - actually the only useful items, but those are not really gift cards)
2679  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat Banks Conspiracy Against Customers. Bitcoin is the Best Option on: September 08, 2022, 05:16:52 AM
The quick fix is bitcoin. The long term fix that also has to be done is be more careful what you vote for next time.

Have you forgotten Politicians? They can sweet talk and promise heaven on earth but we all know what comes after, it is there in every country.

I haven't. That's the vote I was talking about. Voting more carefully has the potential to get the country on the right track, just it can take many years and many disappointments.
2680  Economy / Economics / Re: Energy FUD!!! on: September 07, 2022, 02:24:57 PM
I can't seem to understand why btc is tagged as the bad guy supposedly consuming all the energy the planet has to offer while about 50,000 TWh is being wasted

Well, this is simple imho.

There's a deep energy related problem because politicians have made some some policies they didn't think them over good enough.
But, as we know, politicians' main goal is to get re-elected. So they have to divert attention and find culprits.
So.. what entity or industry is consuming energy, and they can blame all this on and still make them look good? Bitcoin.
Their banker friends will be happy, older existing energy-hungry industry owners will be happy, bitcoin needs some bashing to "protect" the fiat and the printing machine... it's really the closest to a win-win scenario.

Ah, some geeks will be unhappy about all this? So what?
...or you thought those politicians and media (owned or under contract with politicians) do care about you, or us?!
