2681  Other / Meta / Re: LETTER OF APPEAL FOR PERMANENT BAN LIFT on: November 01, 2021, 02:57:43 PM
Have you sent an email to the address provided in the ban message? That's one of the quickest ways to alert the mods to your case along with an appeal thread like this one.

I've noticed you around the forum and while you post with a lot of copy pasted works, you didn't seem to  do it with malicious intent and was not on a signature, IIRC. It's up to the mods to decide whether to unban you account.
2682  Other / Meta / Re: Cheaters Hunters vs Spam Busters on: November 01, 2021, 05:23:53 AM
So far I've noticed that there are quite a number of forum users interested in becoming a cheater hunter as opposed to a spam buster.
As you said, a spam buster mostly works behind the scenes reporting posts to the mods for them to take action, while in cheating they would need to publicly post for the campaign manager to become aware; So you cannot notice which members of the forum are more involved in.

    • Be a cheater hunter, you will get more merit, have the opportunity to become a DT and you get the trust of many forum users and you will get your rank faster.
    • Be a spam buster, even though you work behind the scenes but your contribution is really needed by the forum to keep it clean. You will find it difficult to get many merit if you do not want to expose your work in public. You still need to be a quality poster to get merit and rank up. You have to put in a lot of effort to earn the trust of this community. It will be less likely to be appointed as a DT.
    • I do not think anyone would get merits simply cause of the work they do in the forum, Sure you can get a couple but as a strategy to rank up, you would still need to be a decent poster.
    • That's why theymos suggested the reporter badges and posted the top reporters over the last year; to recognize those who work to keep the forum clean, they also have the opportunity to be appointed as moderators.
2683  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coins that are more expensive than gold on: October 31, 2021, 09:56:46 PM
Gold is less volatile that cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and the latter would likely get more popularity and interest, considering how many people have gotten rich through it further rasing the price

If we are going to make a comparison then it makes more sense to compare the market caps of the market of gold and the market cap of this market as that give us a more realistic view of the interest of investors in this market compared to the interest they have in the market of gold.
Market cap is a metric that can be easily manipulated and is not really a better way to compare different currencies. Market cap is based on the price (most recent sell price) and the supply.
    • A project developer can buy their currency for an inlfated amount after pumping out a massive supply, which would significantly affect the market cap and draw investors, even there is no interest from investors.
2684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin not a seek and hide for fraudulency on: October 31, 2021, 08:51:43 PM
is Cryptocurrency going to be an abode for scammer and financial looters who has gone outrageous against the law and find crypto as a "home of no query" as to where a huge amount of Bitcoin stated above could just landed in without a background check (investigation) of the person involved with such huge amount source.
Fiat is already an abode for scammers, with banks also being indicted in huge scam attempts, so should they really be relied on for full transparency? Bitcoin doesn't create a problem, there is already an existing one with scams.

    My Questions
    1. Is there a limit to certain amount of bitcoin per transaction each type of wallet can accommodate?

    2. How can the menace of scammers, fund looters and embazzler using Cryptocurrency as a covering to hide and safeguard their looted currency end, knowing fully that going to the banks they will be apprehended?
    1. If your asking whether Bitcoin has a transaction limit to reduce money laundering attempts, No, there is none. It's decentralized and operates without a third party, nodes only need to verify that you own the bitcoins you are sending.

    2. How were scammers hiding their loot 13 or so years ago before Bitcoin? As I said earlier, Bitcoin does not create a problem, scam has operated for several years on fiat currencies.
2685  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willy Woo: Bitcoin ‘Almost Certainly’ Reaching Six-Figures in H1 2022 on: October 31, 2021, 06:29:54 AM
    These two are also contradictory.
You can't call it a bull market if there is only 50% rise in 8 months (6% per month!!!). 50% rises in a bitcoin bull market happen in 1 month tops.
But wouldn't it still be a bull market period if the price is progressively going upwards over a long period of time with only intermittent drops here and there, followed by quick recoveries?

A lot of people would say we've been in a bull market since late 2020 when the price first stated rising up till this point; That's the same way a bear market would be an extended period of downward prices or little price movements, just as we had from 2018-2020, even though there were intermittent upward spikes, followed by dips.
2686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Willy Woo: Bitcoin ‘Almost Certainly’ Reaching Six-Figures in H1 2022 on: October 30, 2021, 08:16:28 PM
6 figures is about a 55% increase from the current price, which is very possible with the next 6 months to a year. Over the past six months the price has grown over 100% after the dip from $60k, making 50% very realistic.

According to Woo, the previous generation of Bitcoin holders were replaced in the fourth quarter last year with “high-net-worth purchasers” that drove the price higher with accumulation.
I wouldn't necessarily say they were replaced, they were rather joined by higher net worth individuals and companies looking to get exposure into Bitcoin. Early birds drove the price from nothing to as high as $20k before it became a serious topic at board meetings
2687  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Avoid. on: October 30, 2021, 05:10:00 AM
Do not rely on centralized third parties to mediate transactions
Some are more legitimate than others, but they all can lock up your funds and require you to prove to then why it should be returned. Doxxing yourself on so many websites also eliminates your privacy and pseudo anonymity. Most traders sign up to multiple platforms and undergo KYC, and they sometimes even forget where their private documents could be.
There's also the risk of hacks where you can lose your funds or your details gets stolen and used for illegal activities.

The money is just in my wallet in their exchange but I can't withdraw it.
Most probably is not, what you see on the exchange would be just a written balance, not your actual funds
    2688  Other / Off-topic / Re: Facebook is now Meta on: October 29, 2021, 09:12:48 PM
Beside changing the name of this popular social media are there other changes in the overall ui that uses should be expecting in the near future!
The video posted above by coupable contains lots of relevant information on what updates should be expected besides the change of the brand name.

It feel a bit strange for Facebook to move from its original name to being called Meta' many users will be confused about this new development and wonder what is happening (especially the non crypto users).
The change affects the brand name and not the individual companies under the brand. Facebook.ink includes WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and these would stay the same, while the brand name of all of them is what changes.
2689  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ENaira launch. on: October 26, 2021, 01:03:44 AM
If I recall correctly, didn't your Government ban Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency transactions a few months ago?
What's the point of the new digital currency, then?
Yes, the country banned banks from engaging in Bitcoin transactions and thinks that by creating an alternative, users would drop the other and use theirs or it could be a justification that the citizens were given an alternative, regardless of the exact reason it is not one which is of any benefit to the country as it functions no different from our actual fiat currency.

Personally, If I was from Nigeria, I wouldn't be excited about the new development at all. It's no different from the fiat you have been trying to avoid. There are reasons people specifically want to use cryptocurrencies. One of them is privacy.
Most Nigerians aren't excited about using them.
2690  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Kyc is deceitful if ignorant of the bad side on: October 25, 2021, 07:27:57 PM
The problem of KYC stems from providing your personal information to a third-party website that has full control over your records. In the event that such website takes advantage of your personal data, you are at the constant risk of having identity theft or information fraud in the black market.
Identity theft is just one of the problems. The government agencies having full access to your transactions takes away pseudo anonymity, which is one of the qualities of Bitcoin.

On the other hand, KYC also protects the establishment in providing security to their database. Though many have argued against the usage of such, there must be a line drawn on how KYC could be balanced that will be advantageous to both parties.
How does KYC provide security to a database or protect an establishment? It just benefits the government who impose the regulations on centralized agencies. There are Dexes which function without the need for personal information of its users without security issues.
A perfect balance would be to use KYC for regulated currencies and none for cryptocurrencies.
    2691  Other / Meta / Re: Moderator merging non-consecutive posts on: October 25, 2021, 07:06:30 PM
I think it should have been obvious, considering the timestamps of the quotes.
Mods handle a lot of reports and cases, so they may understandably miss a bit of info or two in the process of carrying out their duty.
When you also consider that quotes doesn't have to be fron the same thread the reply is made, it's much easier to merge them and very little harm is done.
2692  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks either adapt or face death on: October 25, 2021, 06:56:59 PM
Banks will need to adapt or they face certain death.
There is nothing to suggest now that cryptocurrency would be the end of banks or fiat currencies, it is yet a novel currency which cannot sustain an economy on its own as the staple means of transaction and it cannot be used under the current system of government run by most all countries, except it can fully regulate it.

Luckily, things are changing rapidly and mainstream adoption may come sooner than we think. Do you guys think, this will happen within this decade or not?
Mainstream adoption is definitely possible within this decade or the next, but the cost of it could potentially change the way most people view cryptocurrencies.
When banks adopt then, it cannot fully function as a decentralized network and users would need to submit KYC and AML documents to the central bank, basically making the network centralized.
2693  Other / Meta / Re: Promoting Website- allowed? on: October 24, 2021, 08:09:12 PM
If the posts are just excerpts from the article, then the posts are in the wrong section and should have rather been in the Press board, although it could still be spam there as it's only for notable press hits. Spamming the forum for engagements doesn't contribute to the community.

Reporting their posts with a note to the mods to have a look at their post history is the best action imo.
2694  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: NEW PROJECT REVIEW. DO YOU HAVE THE TIME? on: October 24, 2021, 04:48:18 PM
With the rate New projects keeps pumping out. it is difficult to evaluate all these projects.
You do not have to evaluate all the projects. That's a mistake investors make; trying to get their hands on everything cause they feel anyone could be the one. Knowing what a project could turn out to be retrospectively is almost impossible, but evaluating how an existing one has been run over the years is more realistic.

There are multiple projects that have been around for a number of years, out of these you can look for the features you expect or wish for in a cryptocurrency and buy that one. I'll give you a hint: BTC
    2695  Other / Meta / Re: Reports Bad&Unhandled on: October 24, 2021, 04:34:58 PM
Not sure but it sometimes seems that when more people report a same post/topic and moderator act on that report, only one get the report as good. As I said, I'm not 100% sure but in my case, I find my unhandled reports increased even when my reported post was deleted.
Can't find the replies now, but mods have said that multiple reports are all marked good if one of them is marked good. More often than not, more than one user would report a particular error, and it would make sense to mark all as good if it's a good report.

In the case of a report being marked bad, while the reply was deleted;.
It could be different mods acting on different reports or the post was removed (by a mod who saw it on the thread or the user themselves) before your report was seen, or that you made a duplicate report.
2696  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Out of desperation, I was scammed by an exchange called autoscoin.com on: October 23, 2021, 07:25:38 PM
I invested in this stock market to earn the money for the surgery, but this site turned out to be a scam, this site took my money hostage and does not even give my earnings right now.
    You could probably view this as a learning situation or other newbies can learn from it;
Investment is not a way to grow cash quickly, especially if the amount you're investing is not spare cash. You only imvest a percentage of your earnings after taking off the parts you use and save.
Joining a shady platform desperately, to earn money is a surefire way to get scammed.

If your story is true, then it's a tight situation you're in, you can try to get the attention of donation organizations in your country that can verify the facts. Expecting help from random strangers should not be expected, as they would not want to get scammed either.
2697  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin, the only currency of people with unity on: October 23, 2021, 07:10:45 PM
Bitcoin is a currency built on a novel or even a futuristic technology, which has lots of utilities and features that makes it stand out, beyond these however, it doesn't do much.
Bitcoin is what the holder deems it to be, either a speculative asset, hedge fund etc, it could also build investment skills and connect investors, but we should not generalize this as a feature.

    1. Zero Tribalism:

    2. Built courage among others:

    3. Bitcoin has unite different cultural Background:

    4. Bitcoin, the legendary poverty elevator:
    • I do not see the correlation between Bitcoin and tribalism
    • Bitcoin has surely added some qualities to holders who survive bear markets on investments, but this does not mean it builds courage,
    • Not nearly as much as the internet or social media
    • A lot of investors have panicked sold and lost amounts they put in.
    2698  Other / Meta / Re: Is bumping a thread every 24h allowed? on: October 22, 2021, 08:37:12 PM
although I wrote "bump" everytime I was also adding something to the discussion.
If you want to add a new information to a thread, it doesn't have to include the word 'bump', you could use update, alert or any other phrase to indicate it's an important information. Not every new reply should be a bump, this way you do not have to delete your previous replies when making a new one. This is one of the reasons users reserve a few replies after the OP to add new information.

Also, bumps are limited to every 24 hours, but you do not have to cut it clean, ideally only bump when necessary, or it could seem like you're trying to force engagements.
2699  Other / Meta / Re: Hai mate, i need some advice regarding reporting spammers to moderators on: October 21, 2021, 10:36:38 PM
Those 5717 Posts with 100% accuracy? that's insane but how's that possible? After that "100% accuracy" it's saying (60 unhandled) then how's it 100% accurate.
Does it mean that that 60 unhandled are in progress and in review?
Most likely that. The unhandled reports does not yet count on either side and doesn't affect the overall percentage until the mods take an action. If you do remove those figures, the good and bad reports would be at s ratio of 99.12/0.88$, without rounding up that would result in percentage of 100%.
2700  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk Sees Bitcoin Price Reaching $69,000 on: October 21, 2021, 11:49:50 AM
A meme tweet which was most likely copied from some other user or platform shouldn't really matter enough to deserve a thread here in the forum or 20+ replies on it.
Bitcoin does not care what Elon does, it's the holders that do and gives the influence they appear to have on the price. When everyone stops caring about top personalities' opinion, the market would have entered a different phase.
