PBA really making a huge noise a lot of drama to gather attentions maybe they are trying anything to gain those interests from the viewers. They are following the saying that even negative publicity is still a publicity, hahaha Grin Roll Eyes kidding aside, My personal take on that note is very possible, PBA is controlled by SMC and MVP they can simply request for that schedule to see how the visiting team play and scout them to make sure that they are well prepared before they met.

If this issue will be proven, surely the interest of those possible additional visiting teams will be lesser. They might not take that effort to join with the league that fully manipulated.

It has been for a very long time. Comm. Marcial has been a puppet to these 2 big companies that this league has been focusing on them only. Unbalanced trades, only SMC and MVP teams are the ones we are seeing competing with each other. Independent teams becoming farming teams of these 2 companies. Our commissioner has been a puppet for a very long time.

Negative publicity is still publicity yes, but we are starting the negative impact of it now. People aren't interested anymore in watching the game live, PH players playing outside PH because of how PBA is right now and there are some who are just opting to play in their respective places. In the future, we might see some players hanging their jersey in the PBA to play in the MPBL where there are more audiences.

For sure this will not be proven but it's pretty obvious already that they are manipulating the league. I'm also thinking, what if we will change the commissioner? Will something change to how PBA is right now?
2722  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Education seems to have failed in some developing country on: September 27, 2022, 07:31:08 AM
CONCLUSION
School gives certificate but doesn't guarantee a job. Education never fails, it's gives knowledge and skills. This knowledge and skills acquired through it brings breakthrough on the long run. Therefore, graduate should think beyond getting a job after schooling but plan on how to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired through their education to create jobs for themselves and others.
Regarding the "School gives certificate but doesn't guarantee a job." part, it depends. There are some rare instances where people are picking a student by a company and then put him/her into a high standard school and then after graduation, they will hire the graduated student to their company. In that scenario, the job already is guaranteed but it is a rare scenario and I know some of the graduates where they don't have a job especially during pandemic.

Education never fails. It's just that, teachers are giving information and knowledge that will not shape the student in the future. I mean there are some schools who are teaching their students some knowledge but, in the end, they will not use these knowledges when they will apply for a job. We are living near the school, and I often see what these teachers are teaching and TBH, it's the basic ones that they don't need in the future. The current education curriculum in our school is already outdated and it must be updated to a point where a student increases its chance of getting a job after getting graduated. Well, it's their plan at first place that's why they added 2 school years in the Secondary level, but it failed miserably.

Utilizing skills really is the key in getting a job. Finding your passion and making it use it to earn money is a big thing after graduation. I know some people who really is knowledgeable, but they don't have the skills that will help them find a job and I've seen some of my classmates as well who aren't that intelligent but skillful and they are the ones who has a stable job right now.
2723  Local / Altcoins (Pilipinas) / Re: Axie Infinity Philippine Thread on: September 27, 2022, 04:00:43 AM

Be interesting to hear who is for and against micro cap altcoins?

If you own any what is your plan with them and if not why do you not believe in them?
I tried once and didn't do it again.
It was SAFEMOON where I put only $20 to buy it. At first it went pretty well and I'm having some good profits just by holding it but after few days, it went down and down until my initial money lost a huge percentage of it. In the end, my $20 initial capital at that time went to $3 and I will never, ever invest into low marketcap coins again.

Plans with them? When I invested, I have no plans but to sell it when it will pump because that's what investor's reason is that's why they are investing into low marketcap coins. They are hoping that one day, it will pump 10-20x then they will sell but this only happens a few times and you don't know which coins will pump. Investing in low marketcap coins is like gambling to me where there is a high chance that you will lose your money.

For me, I'd rather focus on the top 20 coins base on market cap but if you really want to invest into low marketcap coins then you can but don't expect too much because most of the time, you will lose money investing to these altcoins.

Aside from that award-related issues regarding guest teams, there are speculations that PBA intentionally modified the schedule of the Bay Area Dragons to face first those teams that are not on the top tier. In that way, top-tier teams like SMB, Ginebra, or TNT can scout first the skills and talents of this guest team to fully prepare once they will now faced-off against the Dragons.

What's your take on that speculation guys? It does make sense or not? Smiley
Well, it might be true, or it might be not because if you will look at the schedule of the Dragons, their first 4 games really are against those independent teams.

It's their league so they can do what they want to do because after all, we have a puppet commissioner. A puppet to these 2 big companies so he will follow what these 2 companies will say just to have advantage over the other team.

It will make sense for these top tier teams but for me as a watcher, it doesn't make any sense. I mean they can prepare but the other team can still prepare to them as well because for sure, they watched some of their games and know how to adjust to their playstyle. The thing is that Powell who is dominating the league offensively will not play against these 2 big companies, and this might the chemistry of the Dragons because he will only play in the first 4 games and that is against those independent teams.
2726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 27, 2022, 03:19:59 AM
....

That makes the three of them inside the same team an injury prone namely Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and John Wall.
One of my favorite memes when I see injury-prone players come together is that Warriors have the splash brothers while this team have the glass brothers.

The coach probably needs to balance these guy's game time to help prevent their body from breaking. This will be tricky to implement early in the regular season but Tyronn Lue can make it work....hopefully.
Load management is the key I guess so that these guys will be less prone to injuries. They already gave it to Kawhi in his last season but unfortunately got injured against the Jazz.

Glass brothers sounds funny TBH but it's the truth. All 3 of them are injury prone. Well, let's just hope for the best to this team and if they will be healthy all throughout the eliminations and with the amount of good role players that they have right now, I'm guessing that the lowest that they can get is Western Conference Semi-Finals.
2727  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Price Prediction. Will LUNC price hit $0.001 in 2022? on: September 26, 2022, 08:08:21 AM
I remember people predicting this coin up to $500 before the crash and almost everyone used to say that, this is a very strong project. Hold it for the long term and it will make you rich. Then many people believed in it and invested their hard-earned in buying it.

Then one day its stablecoin ( ust) was depegged and to save that stablecoin the Luna team minted this coin to an astonishing extent. And the price started to look like it is a meme token.

Now its predictions have started again, again it is being shown as a strong project I am afraid people will fall for this deception again.
Don't worry, it happens with different coins as well.
People will predict a specific price to be reached by a particular coin because of it's popularity.

With regards to Terra Luna, I still remember that this coin was one of the most popular project and became a top 10 coin out of nowhere. The 20% annual profit really is attractive. Unfortunately because of arrogance of Do Kwon, hackers targeted their project and saw a loophole in their system that caused the project to fall miserably and let those who are holding Terra Luna tokens to lose massively.

I will make a prediction but not with this project. A project that made people lose most of their money investing into this. A project who until now is scamming people by creating another project again. A project who is still deceiving and attracting people to invest into their project where in fact, they already failed in their first one.
2728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 26, 2022, 07:15:53 AM
I’m looking forward to seeing how Ben Simmons fits in with Kyrie and KD.

Everyone is so excited about Simmons, Kyrie and KD.
Last season I expected Ben Simmons to play, but he didn't play in any games.
Let's see how it will be this season for the Brooklyn Nets.  I hope they will be champions this year.

Also, Kahwi has started training and his form is very good, and I am very hopeful of him this year.

Aside from the KD-Simmons-Kyrie trio, the Kawhi-Wall-PG13 too is the trio that NBA fans want to watch and curious on how they will play with each other.

In Brooklyn, KD is a very good sniper no doubt to that. Kyrie is a good ball handler and a good shooter as well. Simmons is a pass first player and a very good defender so his offensive skills might not be needed like KD and Kyrie but it's good still to learn to shoot especially those threes Cheesy.

In Clippers, Kawhi and PG is an all-around player. Both of them can shoot and defend. Wall on the other hand is a good ball handler as well. I'm more curious about how these 3 will fit to each other and help the team reach the first-ever NBA Finals if ever they will reach it.

The similarities between these 6 players is that, they are very prone to injuries like all of them got injured in the last 2-3 years.
2729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 26, 2022, 07:01:26 AM

Northport is supposed to be on the big news now if they were able to upset the heavy favorites Bay Area Dragons. That was almost a win!

Pre-game betting, NorthPort has a @10 odds to win the game. Aside from that, a tempting handicap was given to them that generalizes how long the distance is between them and the Dragons.

Bay Area Dragons will meet the other 2 teams first before facing an SMC team. I'm waiting for it.
If only the shot of Myles Powell didn't went in, people will see NorthPort differently after that game. I think that this game boosted the morale of other teams and they believe that if NorthPort can then so they are.
I remember the post here where the odds are heavily favoring Dragons to the point that the odds of both teams is 1.01 for the Dragons and around 12 for the NorthPort.

They just showed that the Dragons are still beatable and they really is even though they have a star-studded looking team. Unfortunately, Powell will only play the first 4 games and that 4 games are against those independent teams and Andrew Nicholson will play the rest of the games. I really want to see Powell playing against SMC and MVP teams but it looks like not it will happen.

On the other hand, it looks like Tolentino going to the NorthPort is really a good move because he and Bollick are the top scorers of team right now. If he will continue, Tolentino will be the one who help Bollick offensively and after a few years, SMC and MVP will try to get him "again". Ooops!! Tongue.
2730  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 24, 2022, 09:29:44 AM
Can you believe this?

If it's SMB vs Northport, I'm pretty sure the spread will not be that high, so what will this spread imply?
I mean, are we seeing this guess team as the NBA team playing against a PBA team? This is so disrespectful, there's no more competition here.  Sad
Competition? It isn't applicable in PBA anymore for the last 5-6 years or even more.
Look at the teams right now. It's only MVP and SMC that are battling for years. Look at the standings and you will see that the top 6 teams is composed of MVP and SMC. Do you think that competition still exists in the PBA? Hell no for a long time already.

Kinda disrespectful to see the odds yes but they based on how they dominated the Bossing, I think the Dragons will really get that odds. The guest team really is strong and there is no doubt on that just by looking on how the team dominated those PBA teams in their scrimmages.

As for competition, I don't see competition anymore in the PBA. I watched the games in the last 2 game days and you will see that the number of audiences watching is very few to the point that you might count them. It's because the competitiveness of the league is long gone already. You will not see any independent teams dominating the league but only MVP and SMC teams and because of this, there are some PBA fans that might opt to watch other leagues like MPBL because the competitiveness on that league is higher than the PBA therefore, it is more entertaining to watch.
2731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How mentally prepared are you? on: September 23, 2022, 03:36:23 AM
How prepared are you mentally as a newbie when the market is on uptrend or down trending?
I started my crypto journey September of 2017 and a few months after that, I already saw the 2018 bear market where all of the coins are free falling. Prices going down, investors slowly losing their money, newbies who invested at the peak are already panicking and I don't know but maybe there are some who feel depressed and regretted their own decisions.

As for me, I'm not mentally prepared when I was a newbie but luckily, I didn't invest at that time, and I focused on learning the basics. Newbies aren't ready mentally for sure but as the days pass by and they continue to learn, they will see how the market moves and how to be calm when people are already panicking etc.

How mentally prepared are you to be able to survive the market situation by holding onto your coins and not selling them at a loss? Being patient is key since, no matter the market situation, 1 BTC is still 1 BTC.
I don't know if I'm mentally prepared already but now that we are in a bear market, I'm patient and calm enough to not make unnecessary decisions that might make me lose money. I'm just holding all of my coins and some of them are already staking but at the same time, I'm accumulating more coins for the incoming bull run.

Also, please do not borrow money to invest in Bitcoin, and only invest what you can afford to lose.
Most of the users here might agree with this one but it depends on the situation.

This is based on my experience. I made a challenge to myself where I will borrow a specific amount of money to invest into Bitcoin. Of course, I have an income source so that I can still pay the debt. To cut the story short, I already paid the whole money that I borrowed including the interest and it turns out that I also got profit from the Bitcoins that I bought thru that money that I borrowed. Overall, I got some profits although it isn't that much but still profit is profit and it's a bit risky.
2732  Economy / Reputation / Re: Choice of Username and people's perception on: September 23, 2022, 03:25:00 AM
I don't know why people are very judgmental nowadays.
People are basing one's attitudes on their usernames and in my case where most of the time I'm playing online games, there are some players that I saw where they are basing other players' attitude on their IGN which is unacceptable. I said unacceptable because I didn't ever do this.

Usernames are only usernames for me, and it doesn't represent the true identity of the person who is using it. I've seen weirder more dangerous IGN's than you OP and I didn't try to judge them because I don't know them personally.

Just look at my username LogitechMouse. Can people judge me based on my username Cheesy.

I'm sorry for spoiling the Wolves discussion but are users here aware that Ime Udoka has been suspended for the upcoming 2022-2023 NBA season. Just this time, they already given his sanction and that is to suspend him for the whole season.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/sports/celtics-coach-ime-udoka-suspended-2022-23-season-rcna49079
Quote
The Boston Celtics have suspended coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season, effective immediately, and with no guarantee he will be back with the franchise in the future.

In case some don't know, Udoka had "an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff."  that's why he got suspended and he apologized for it. I don't know if this is a big news but I'm pretty sure that the Celtics franchise is heavily affected by this one. He has been a very good coach in his first season, and he led the Celtics to NBA Finals. Their assistant coach, Joe Mazzulla will be their interim head coach.

Any thoughts with this one? How will the Celtics be affected by this?
2734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 Philippine Basketball Association betting discussion on: September 23, 2022, 02:54:59 AM

He is Liu Chuanxing, 7 foot 5 inches in height and he is there to make the life of June Mar miserable. Cheesy

I do not think June Mar can totally stop this guy alone if he decides to impose his dominance in the paint. June mar will need help from his teammates to be able to stop this guy. Luckily, basketball is a team sport so June Mar will not have to do it alone.

I'm not going to buy the possibility that Fajardo will take the challenge or coach Leo will assign him I think it will be the import that will take this big center, SMB will not risk Fajardo he's not getting any younger maybe he will be assign to guard him but investment wise SMB will think for more years that Fajardo will be healthier instead of giving him that hard task.

That big man is not an ordinary big but he also have that fundamentals that will really be a pain in the ass whoever will take him, don't get me wrong but I'm all with the business so my personal take is for the future of SMB.
Their import is 6 foot 10 inches, and I don't know if he can defend that big alone so I guess Coach Leo will do the strategy that he already did against the TNT in the PH Cup.

I think he will play Robinson, Fajardo and Tautuaa more often. 2 of them will play at the same time if this Liu Chuanxing will play. Just basing on his stats in the first game, this big isn't their starting one and I guess he isn't that athletic but his presence in the paint will surely be a big factor.

June Mar alone can't stop him but with 2 guys and a good rotation, I think they can at least lessen his efficiency. With regards to Liu's defense, June Mar can shoot perimeter shots as well so I guess we will see JMF shooting more on the perimeter than in close range. Overall, it will be hard for SMB, but I think they can defeat the Dragons. Let's see in the future.
2735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobel prize for Satoshi. on: September 22, 2022, 07:32:39 AM
Satoshi really deserves the Nobel Prize for what he/she/they invented, and it is indeed the greatest invention of the 21st century.
The problem is who will receive the award? Craig Wright? Ohhh hell No!!! Just don't nominate Satoshi if Faketoshi-t will be the one to receives it if Satoshi will be the winner.

Although UCLA Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry chose to nominate the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, for the Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences, it appears The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will not consider the nomination unless the legendary Nakamoto were to reveal his identity.

I think it's safe to say that Satoshi will forever remain anonymous.
Identity over security.
If I were Satoshi, I'd rather keep myself anonymous rather than showing myself in public just to get the award. In the end, Satoshi will be popular because of Satoshi being anonymous the whole time.
2736  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How I feel about play to earn games on: September 22, 2022, 07:25:04 AM
At the end of it all no play to earn games can gives player the satisfying reward they deserve, there is no unlimited reward in play to earn games, the only thing that matters is how fun the game can get, people needs to feel like ' well I am ok with the fun more than the payout' its not how much people are going to be earning its how much fun people will have. The game needs to be addicting enough. Am I wrong?
Players will never get satisfied because they will "never" get satisfied.
People has a nature that whenever they received a reward, they will find ways to find more, and they don't see the satisfied with the rewards that they're getting.

It's not only in Play to Earn games but all games in general, fun and enjoyment while playing the game matters. There are problems both with the Play to Earn games themselves and the users themselves as well. Play to earn games focuses more on the rewards than the fun. You will see that most of the play to earn games are boring. I still remember Pegaxy where you can just click a few times and then you will just watch you Pega run and run until you win. I mean it's very boring, but people are only playing just because of the rewards. Surprisingly, the project is still developing until now and there has been some updates on it.

On the other hand, users are focusing more on the amount of money that they can get and if they see that they can't get money anymore, they will just quit. I mean people are playing for the rewards and not for the fun. Both the games and the users are focused more on the reward part more than the fun part that's why users are quitting. Overall, there is no 100% working formula right now with play to earn games and we've seen many games who are just doing a rug pull because they see that it isn't sustainable in the long term.
2737  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 22, 2022, 06:27:20 AM
So, before Dennis got an offer from them with a huge contract and he declined it? And now, he's got a contract with them but it's no longer great as before.

To summarize what happened to Dennis Schroder;

- traded from Oklahoma City Thunders to Los Angeles Lakers (2020-21)
- he rejected the 4-year $84 million Lakers contract extension (end of 2021 season) as he is eyeing a much higher deal as a UFA
- he couldn't find his expected long-term deal - in other words, no teams offered what he wants
- no choice but to accept a deal with the Boston Celtics - a 1-year, $5.9 million

He received a BIG LOL from the basketball community because of what happened. And now returning to Lakers with a 1-year, $2.6 million contract, the BIG LOL continues. However, it was reported that Schroder really wants to return to the Lakers, if he says so, then I will buy it. If he plays well this upcoming season, I'm sure the Lakers will offer him a good contract extension.
That's a huge gap from what has been offered to him and yet he still fall back to Los Angeles Lakers that has cared for him. But, not anymore with the high offer that was given to him before.

That 4 year deal was already as a good as what he wants to make. Well, he probably have that proud issue then and thought that many teams would like to get him.

We'll just wait what will the Lakers do once his contract expires.
That's the consequence if you see yourself higher. His ego got higher even though he didn't play very well in the playoffs before the offer was made. He expected to be paid at least $100M because that's what his value is at that time. Now his decisions backfired him and possible that it will be his worst decision in his whole NBA career.

The good thing though is that the Lakers accepted him again but now instead of a 4-year $84M, they offered him 1 year $2.6M. Kinda funny TBH after him seeing himself as a player worth a hundred million and now they are offering him a veteran minimum contract. Of course, he has no choice now but to accept it because no team wants him anymore. Now he is back with the Lakers, maybe it's time for him to redeem himself after what happened to him these past few years. Let's just hope that he will be a good contributor to the team.

The Bay Area Dragons won easily against Black Water. Well, what team can Bossing beat easily?  Cheesy

It's good for me that Bay Area Dragons is not holding back. They should go in full force against any PBA teams. Play at their 100% performance every game.

I want them to even make a championship and that was a big slap for the PBA.

They will surely wake up if that happened.
I'm an SMB fan for quite some time but in this conference, I wish that the Bay Dragons will win the championship.

I watched the first half and 3rd quarter of the first game between Bay Area and the Blackwater and the import of Dragons is really amazing. 41 points in only 29 minutes. Unfortunately, he will only play in their first few games because their original import will be back but he's amazing. Those handles and crossovers. For sure many players will dance with him, and we might see an ankle breaker in the next games.

Our PH players are like dwarves when they are near to their 7'5" player Cheesy. He is the tallest player to ever played in the PBA and for sure, even the likes of Tautuaa, Almazan and even Fajardo will be having a hard time when he is in the paint.

So, you are saying that this person is a good candidate for Satoshi Nakamoto just because he is a good C++ Code and a Computer Scientist.
I'm good at C++, I also have some friends who is also a good C++ coder and I also know some people who are computer programmers. Can you include them in the candidates for Satoshi Nakamoto?

Enough of this thing and let's just forget who Satoshi Nakamoto is.
2740  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does anyone think it will be much harder to buy bitcoin later on down the road? on: September 21, 2022, 03:44:22 AM
Just wanted everyone's thoughts on how easy it is to get bitcoin now, and what getting bitcoin might be like in the future? For example, I can simply go on cashapp and buy btc, send to a wallet I own the keys to. I can also use localbitcoins, paxful, I mean the list is kinda endless. Will that list become...not so endless in the future as the value gets higher?
It will be the opposite that will happen.
Instead of buying Bitcoin getting harder down the road, it will be easier to buy it.

As Bitcoin becomes more popular, more and more crypto exchange platforms will be created and what is the first coin that they will accept? Bitcoin. When crypto becomes more popular, more platforms will try and accept cryptocurrency and what will be the first cryptocurrency that they will accept? Bitcoin. You are saying that Bitcoin will be harder to buy because of its price, isn't it?

Bitcoin's supply is finite but for sure, there will be Bitcoin holders that will continue to sell their holdings and there will be some who will buy it. I myself didn't have any problems buying Bitcoin or I didn't see it hard to buy because there are many platforms out there where you can buy it.
