2721  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Sportsbet.io (Withholding funds) on: July 26, 2020, 02:13:42 AM
The amount they offered him (which he has until now refused) is the sum of his deposits minus his withdrawals.  In effect he would be getting a full refund, and they would go about their business, quite literally.  Somehow it's not ringing the "scam alarm" to me.
This is not my understanding. The OP placed bets with his deposit, that Sportsbet appeared to have accepted that turned out to be winning bets. The net winnings are excluded from what is being offered to the OP.

I understand that philosophy, but we don't know the whole story, and Sportsbet.io isn't obligated to disclose it.  In fact, considering what it would take to prove their suspicions to us, they are very likely obligated NOT to disclose it.

What if the OP is from the US, or another probated location?  Do you suggest they should break the law, and pay the winnings?  We don't know what evidence they have, and I'm not trusting a bitter newbie over an established business.
2722  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Sportsbet.io (Withholding funds) on: July 26, 2020, 02:06:00 AM
The other thing I have some concerns about is the amount of 0.373 BTC. Does that include the 0.1 BTC (IIRC) that Sportsbet offered to pay out?
0.373 was the balance when sportsbet closed OPs account. Sportsbet offered him 102 mBTC. You may want to read sportsbet response here if you did not- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5263445.msg54840690#msg54840690

I did, thus the question since I couldn't see those amounts put together in a coherent manner to make it clear what we're talking about.

So the flag is basically invalid because the dispute is about 0.271 BTC, not 0.373 BTC as claimed in the OP. I could understand a small discrepancy but I don't think we should be supporting "written contract" flags overstated by 37%. There's probably more reason to oppose the flag than support it based on the amount alone, i.e. the claim is "at least partially false".

That's my understanding as well.  The amount they offered him (which he has until now refused) is the sum of his deposits minus his withdrawals.  In effect he would be getting a full refund, and they would go about their business, quite literally.  Somehow it's not ringing the "scam alarm" to me.
2723  Economy / Reputation / Re: What is the reason behind this silence? May be a find out. on: July 26, 2020, 01:07:54 AM

Lets please put things into perspective and try to remain cool headed.  This is a disagreement about how a business chose to handle a suspected cheater.  Whether they've provided the proper evidence in public, or not is immaterial.  Whether their suspicions are valid or not is immaterial.  Sportsbet has offered to return the accuser's money, and decided to refuse his business.  That's all, nothing more.  You may disagree with their decision, you may find it distasteful, or apply any other adjectives to the subject you choose.  But, in the end the decision is there's to make.

Let's not get to the point where established members are pissing each other off over a disagreement on how a business chose to handle a suspected cheater.
2724  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM] Sportsbet.io (Withholding funds) on: July 25, 2020, 11:41:42 PM
I only just notice this thread and read through it, but I'm going comment just to explain why I'm opposing both flags:

Sportsbet.io is a business, and like all businesses they have the right to refuse service to anyone, without explanation.  They aren't obligated to explain themselves to neymarjr12, or any of us.  They made a business decision, and having taken the time to explain themselves in this thread should have been enough.  They didn't have to do that, and they don't owe anyone any more than that.

2. I don't mind sharing my KYC documents with a small group of trusted users in this thread if it helps to solve my case.

This whole business is really silly.  Who's to say the documents aren't stolen and have been passed around?  How would any one on neymarjr12's list be able to determine that?  @Royse777, would you accept this users documents in lieu of collateral for a loan?  If not, then they shouldn't be enough to condemn a legitimate business.

@neymarjr12, I know you've repeatedly said that you've done nothing wrong, but forgive my skepticism.  I couldn't help but notice your English is fairly good.  Are you sure you didn't violate their TOS?  Lets assume your documents are legit, are you from one of the countries highlighted below?

3.3.       You are aware that the right to access and use the website and any products there offered, may be considered illegal in certain countries. We are not able to verify the legality of service in each and every jurisdiction, consequently, you are responsible in determining whether your accessing and using our website is compliant with the applicable laws in your country and you warrant to us that gambling is not illegal in the territory where you reside.  For various legal or commercial reasons, we do not permit accounts to be opened or used by customers resident in certain jurisdictions, including the United States of America (and her dependencies, military bases and territories), Australia, United Kingdom, Estonia, Netherlands or other restricted jurisdictions ("Restricted Jurisdiction") as communicated by us from time to time. China just recently launched it's second attempted mission to Mars.  The Tianwen-1 mission should reach Mars in early 2021, after a 7-month journey.  Their not alone, the UAE also launched a mission to mission to Mars, the EMM-HOPE.

I haven't heard much about the Emirates' space program, but I've heard of the Chinese's a few times.  So it got me thinking about if they're going to actually make it this time.  And whether the UAE's ship will make it too.  I'm not a gambler, so I'm only wondering out of curiosity.  What do the odds maker's think?

DireWolfM14, I'm not trying to pour salt in your wounds here, but why didn't you get any collateral from this idiot?  I know you've been around long enough to know that no-collateral crypto loans between complete strangers on the internet are as risky as loans can get.

Believe me, I'm salty enough a little more is hardly noticeable.  I feel like an idiot myself.

2729  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: elmanchez exit scam, loan default on: July 25, 2020, 06:29:42 PM
Sorry to hear that bro! Flag supported and left a negative feedback. This is unacceptable. No one can recover your lose and I hope this is not a big amount for you.

No kids are going to starve, but any loss is painful nonetheless.  Unfortunately my lending activities are at a net negative as a result of one big loss, and now this one just makes it even harder to recover.
2730  Economy / Scam Accusations / elmanchez exit scam, loan default on: July 25, 2020, 06:12:42 PM
What happened::

On June 2, 2020 I gave elmanchez a loan for 0.3 ETH.
On June 3, 2020 I gave him another loan for 0.043 BTC.

On June 20 I received a message from elmanchez through telegram informing me that he will pay back the loans in time.  I have not communicated directly to him since then.  Shortly after that elmanchez deleted the telegram account he used in our communications.

Since then, the user account "elmanchez" has been associated with a banned user, suspected of attempting to use a banned account to feign trust as an established member, and suspected of selling Bitcointalk.org accounts.  After this revelation, on July 20, 2020 I sent elmanchez a personal message here on the forum asking him for clarification about the loans.  To this date I have not received a reply, and yet I believe he has been active using other accounts.

At this point I am of the belief that elmanchez has no intention of paying back the loans.

2731  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you can see the comet! on: July 23, 2020, 07:09:43 PM
I remember looking at the comet Hale–Bopp back in the 1997

I also got to see Hale-Bopp, that was cool.  I took a trip to the top of a local mountain to get a better look at it.  But it wasn't quite as brilliant as I remember Halley's comet, which I got to see in 1986 (yeah, I'm an old fart.)  I was fairly young when Halley's was visible, but remember being so impressed by it.  It was one of the factors that instilled an enthusiasm for astronomy.

I was looking for NEOWISE in the morning skies a couple of weeks ago, but it eluded me.  I got to see it last night for the first time, the skies were finally clear enough in my location.  I might take a trip to the mountain top this weekend to take a photo.

The history of comet visits is also quite fascinating.  Many times they are met with significant social events.  No need to list all the societal peculiarities of this year, as they've been well displayed and discussed.  One of the weirdest things I remember hearing about happened during Hale-Bopp's visit; a group of religious zealots committed mass suicide to hitch a ride on Jesus' space ship, which was hidden in the comet's tail.

This is turn for the worst, I must say...

Now I'd like to know is it elmanchez who was behind the creation of these accounts?  Since some of them date back to 2013, I'm finding that hard to believe.
Did elmanchez try to buy some hero accounts, which turned out banned, essentially falling for yet another scam?
Or, did elmanchez sell his account to this account farmer, who's trying to use it to...  What is he trying to do?

Regardless, I'm concerned since elmanchez owes me 0.043BTC and 0.3ETH.
2736  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Create a new seed in Electrum: any way to replace 2 words and keep seed valid? on: July 19, 2020, 09:48:12 PM
You might be able to replace two words and still have a valid bip39 phrase, but it's highly unlikely.  The odds that you'll stumble upon two words that will meet your standards and satisfy either the bip39 or Electrum checksums is near impossible.

If you want to play around with it, use the Ian Coleman Bip39 tool.  You can also download it and run it off of your hard drive for a more secure setup, and on an air-gapped machine for the ultimately cautious among us.   Grin

And, here's the bip39 word list in various languages:
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/tree/master/bip-0039

I do however want to caution you against relying on memorizing your seed phrase, and taking no other precaution to back it up.  Memory fails us all sooner or later.  It's just a matter of time.  I suggest you write down your seed phrase and secure it in a safe manner, regardless of your desire and ability to memorize it.

I can let you or anyone else with high rep to check this private message in my account and confirm its legit and not fake.

@LoyceV has a practical way of doing this, he might volunteer if he has the time.

I did it now.

Good, maybe @hilariousandco will have access to it, and let us know one way or the other.

If the contents of this screenshot are true, then you should report the PM to admin.  Of course screenshots could easily be faked, so this might be an attempt to discredit elmanchez, which may or may not be happening.  In my opinion the verdict is still out on that.

But again, if this personal message is real, he's essentially admitting to ban evasion.  Have you reported it to admin?

May be they can be called the "Skin Gropers". Cheesy

I was hoping they would start the season without an actual name settled upon, and would have blank grey helmets and uniforms, and the announcers would call them "The Team Formerly Known as the Washington Redskins," and the fans would summarily shorten that to ForeSkins.

It could happen.
