1981  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by user stephthe76er on: August 05, 2021, 06:46:47 PM
First off, sorry for your loss.

Username: stephthe76er

That user name doesn't exist on this forum, nor does that skype name appear in search results on this forum.  There is, however a post by that user name offering AWS accounts on a scammer's forum.  Maybe you've got us confused with the scam site?

Skype: stevenm_media
Purchased: AWS Account

Selling AWS accounts is no longer not allowed here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5173486.msg52093309#msg52093309

I hope the admins will check out his thread and posts. And I also hope that a valid and reasonable judgment will be served as this user is also reported by other peoples in his thread.

There have been many scam accusations against those selling accounts, which is (in part) why the activity is no longer allowed, but scams aren't moderated here.  In this case there's nothing the mods or admin can do, nor is it likely that others will report scams by a non-existent username.
1982  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Loan Advice on: August 05, 2021, 02:25:55 PM
Most financial advisors would advise against taking loans to make investments.  Real estate would be the sole exception, due to it's usability or potential to provide income while also having the potential to grow in value.  I'm a bitcoin maximalist, but I think this would be a bad idea.  Not because I think bitcoin will drop in value, but that's it, I don't think it will.  There's no way for me to know that for a fact.  It's far too risky, in my opinion.

Like others have suggested, you should buy bitcoin with your surplus income and save by not having to pay interest.  From you parents perspective; I think their $10k could also earn them more interest than the loan your offering would pay if they were to invest it something else, like bitcoin for example.

Just to add to what Rath_ said, if your wallet is protected by a password you'll have to decrypt it (remove password protection) before you can edit it.

@ Rath_: nice catch, eagle eyes.  How could that have happened?  Was there an automatic RBF when he opened the channel?

Self escrow scam?
He ran 2 separate companies anonymously at the same time.. Never took anyone’s money..

Check you out channeling Tom Sawyer, it almost sounds reasonable.

Conflict of interest at worst, paramount to MURDER!!

Conflict of interest, yes.  In a community where anonymity and trust are our strengths.  He lost the community's trust, but I don't recall anyone accusing him of murder.

But the 10th world championship he has lost himself a few years ago when he lost his temper and kicked Marquez out.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2DiV26-jqs

I remember that as if was yesterday.  I don't think it was a deliberate kick by Rossi.  To me it looked like his foot got brushed off the foot peg when Marques brushed up against him.  Regardless, that was the race where Rossi accused Marques of interfering with him to help Lorenzo, who is Marques' countryman.  If you watch some of the previous races from that season it definitely looks like Marques was harassing Rossi regularly.  IIRC Marques had a couple DNFs earlier that season which put him out of contention for the championship, so he had nothing to lose.

Marques is an amazing rider, but that drama and his aggressive style are among the reasons I've never been a fan of his, and likely never will be.
1986  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod is a liar. Get him out of DT! on: August 04, 2021, 04:05:36 PM
At least it’s obvious who is blinded by hate when reporting harassment is met with such animosity.

I don't have any animosity towards you, but I do doubt your honesty and integrity.

I’ve never lied

Not even a little white lie?  Not even misrepresenting the returns from NastyFans by calculating them in different currencies?  I find that hard to believe, and thus much of what you say will be taken with equal skepticism.

The only unbelievable thing is that there are people here who continue to pretend that Vod’s behavior is ok and I’m in the wrong for making others aware of it.

I haven't seen anyone excuse Vod's behavior, but given his health issues and the subsequent mental state he's more likely to receive our empathy.  Many here have replied to him about his use of the trust system and specifically about this drama between you two, often expressing how damaging it is to the forum and also to his own health.

But once again you choose to convolute reality to paint yourself as the victim, a relatively unsympathetic one in my opinion.  As Nutilah said, you've been given the opportunity to let this drama die, but for the last four months that Vod was gone you continuously bumped this thread just to twist the knife.  Kind of pathetic when it's all put into perspective.
1987  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod is a liar. Get him out of DT! on: August 04, 2021, 12:52:50 AM

I don't doubt that Vod sent you a PM today, but nothing else about this episode is believable.  Especially not the supposed quotes of supposed PMs.  Sorry dude, but you strike me as a bold-faced liar.  You've done this to yourself with your constant attempts to deform reality.
1988  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: August 03, 2021, 09:56:27 PM
This weekend finally again MotoGP in Austria and 2 weeks in a row.

It's been a grueling 5 weeks, I hate the summer break.

According to ServusTV, there are increasing signs that Rossi will also be racing in MotoGP next year. The new main sponsor of his team wants for promotional purposes that Rossi in the VR46 team with his half-brother Marini still drives a season, whether this is a good idea, the Ducati is a completely different bike?

https://www.servustv.com/sport/a/anzeichen-verdichten-sich-rossi-2022-auch-in-der-motogp/139516/

I'm a huge fan Rossi.  I wish he was still competitive, but considering that he's 42 years old, that makes him one of the oldest to race MotoGP in the modern era.  At this point it's unlikely he'll ever be able to compete for the championship, but I hope he gets to stand on the podium several times in the next couple of season.

As for the teams that still want to sign him, they're not crazy.  Rossi is probably the most recognized MotoGP rider in the world today.  His star power can still be instrumental in merchandising and ticket sales.  To this day, I'm still inclined to spend a few bucks more for gear if it's got "VR46" emblazoned on it.
1989  Economy / Reputation / Re: Mycelium Wallet Promoting Scam Bookies 1xbit.com on: August 03, 2021, 06:41:09 PM
I haven't used Mycelium wallet since the first time I played with it a couple of years ago.  The minute I saw that it was pushing ads I dumped it and never looked back.  There are way to many truly free wallets out there, no need to deal advertisements in your wallet app.  Like LoyceV has already mentioned, if they are so hungry for money that they'll advertise a scam site then it seems like only a matter of time before they turn into scammers themselves.  Even it's merely an oversight, it shows that the wallet development team is less inclined to research their advertisers.

Dyor.

Done.  Conclusion: 1xBit is a scam.
1990  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 03, 2021, 02:30:09 PM
I don't know any bookie that did that on ML

It wasn't a ML bet, it was a multiple prop bet along with picking the winner.  I got all the props right in the 90 minutes, except for the end result.  It confused me at first, because this is all somewhat new to me.  I don't gamble a lot.  Usually I only place bets on matches where I'm quite certain of the end results.

Just shows how important it is to at least skim trough TOC when starting to use new bookie. I know several bookies that take forfeits in tennis after match started as regular result. Screwed me few times but then I got back at them in the early rounds of grand slams where you can use such scoring in your favor since there is always a couple of players ranked form 50-100 that just come to take first round check even if they are unfit to actually play. Good money for just showing up, almost 70k$ in Wimbledon this year even after covid forced prize reductions and you can collect even if you play just one game (about 5 minutes on the pitch with warm up) in main draw.

Maybe one of these days I'll learn how tennis is scored, and I'll understand what you just said.

There's no way in hell I'm doing a spreadsheet. Would be far too easy to screw it up or make mistakes and everyone would need to verify others results anyway.

That would be preposterous.  There's no need to do things manually when you have a tool like Superbru.  In fact, when I joined last year I had no idea that such a site existed and was rather impressed by it.  It's not perfect by any means, but it sure beats a spreadsheet.
1991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: August 03, 2021, 03:17:06 AM
@hilariousandco,
Thanks for hosting once again!

@sportsbet.io and Steve, thanks for your generous sponsorship.

Looking forward to the new season and the competition.

I'll be the bitch this time around and say I'm not joining as we'll be doing this on superbru again. I wish you all the best of luck though!

Quite being a bitch and join the cool kids, you know you want to.  [/peerpressure]

I agree that it is very strange to take 120 min result as final score for knockout games. That one bothers me big time since I like playing draws. Fortunately that is not an issue for league predictors.

That's is weird, but superbru weren't the only ones who scored the euro games that way.  I got bit on a bet due to that scoring method, learned my lesson the hard way.  Once you're expecting it it's not such a big deal, but like you said, it's not an issue for the EPL.
1992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽⚽ North American Soccer Discussion Thread - CONCACAF - MLS - Liga MX - CFU ⚽⚽ on: August 02, 2021, 01:00:29 AM
The final is about to start.  As most expected it's down to USA and Mexico.  Canada made a good run and so did the guest country, Qatar.

For tonight's final there's a sold-out crowd in Allegiant stadium for the first time.  Somewhat surprising since it's the home stadium of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Go USA!

Trying to get it installed, but I keep getting an error.

Is there a video tutorial on how to upgrade?

This isn't the best thread for getting technical help, not to mention it's off-topic.

Create a thread in the Bitcoin Technical Support board, and provide more details about your system, current configuration, intentions, and issues.

I thought this was particularly cool:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7BdqAPSGhI

Women's BMX. It's no X-Games but its still pretty neat. Wish I could do a front-flip. I think it would be fun to just slowly ride around over that course... I'd try to keep my speed controlled like a granny because I hate pain, but reckon it'd still be pretty fun.

That was an awesome run by Charlotte Worthington, the British young lady.  Her 360 back flip was very impressive, and the front flip was flawless.

I agree with you about the Women's beach volleyball participants, they are amazingly beautiful and freakishly tall.  That's been my favorite competition of the Olympics so far.  Kiss
1995  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a loan ASAP on: August 01, 2021, 07:32:08 PM
Long story short I have ran into unforeseeable medical expenses. Looking for someone that can at least loan a $1000. Yes I know its a lot and I am new.
What i have for collateral is what was supposed to be my pop up CBD business.
I have the following inventory:

10x 500mg bottles of CBD oil Retail ($30 a piece)
15x 1000mg bottles of CBD oil Retail ($50 a piece)
15x 20000mg bottles of CBD oil ($75 a piece)
Total retail value is $,2175

Can provide picture proof of the bottles and also willing to ship them to you first before you send me the loan as long as you are trusted user.

If (this is not an offer) I were to lend money based on business inventory I would only lend 80% of the wholesale value, not retail.  Most lenders don't want to get in the business of selling your inventory, and that way you have an incentive to repay the loan.

The thing you are offering cant be a valid collateral for the forum members.

I disagree.  If a lender feels comfortable with physicals goods as collateral and verifies the value, it seems like a perfectly fine offer to me.
1996  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: August 01, 2021, 06:00:03 PM
I like the 8-team league.  It's been several years since I've played FF, and considering how busy I've been lately the smaller league will allow me to remain competitive without having to invest a lot of time.  I agree that more teams can make things more interesting with waivers and trades, I just don't think that's right for me at the moment.  My vote is to keep things the way they are.

(*maybe take the tx fee out of the 2nd place winner's amount... hopefully its not greater than the amount itself by that point).

I had a 0.002 chipmixer chip available so I just sent the whole thing and offered to cover the Tx fees.  Then some anonymous wiseguy sent another 0.4965mBTC, so I think we'll have the Tx fees covered.

i got 300$ worth of amazon store credit.

As others have noted the collateral you've offered isn't valid collateral, but the amazon credit may help you get the cash you need.

Create a thread in the currency exchange board offering to buy something for other members in exchange for bitcoin.  To make your offer appealing, offer a discount.  Using a trusted escrow provider will ensure the safety of both parties.  I doubt you'll get the cash you need in any other way.
1999  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Advice Please - Ledger Live will not accept my password? on: July 31, 2021, 09:27:05 PM
Here the problem was in the Ledger Live application, and the OP was given advice and instructions on how to reset it - I think it is quite clear that this is not a reset of HW. Even more experienced users are sometimes confused that by resetting Ledger Live they will reset their Ledger HW, which of course has nothing to do with each other.

The OP was pretty clear in his opening post and the title of the thread that he was having trouble with the desktop app.  Being a newbie and somewhat concise, people just assume there's more to the story.  More often then not, there is.

Glad to hear that everything worked out without much trouble.

Okay, so the hash-gods are plotting against me?  Typical, after such a difficult childhood.  I've had to deal with adversity all my life.  My mother abandoned me on a daily basis, leaving me to fend for myself among other uneducated derelicts and screaming yard-duties.  These traumatic experiences only strengthened my will, not only to survive, but to also succeed.
