2721  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will we start new year in $800+ or remain in $700+ on: December 17, 2016, 08:59:41 AM
Every holiday season price is going up but i think we cant see $800 by the end of this month. Maybe next year would if theres no incident again that would cause the price to fall after the holiday.

I'm not sure about the above quote. I personally feel that we'll start the year from $800 or more. We are getting closer to the expected margin. At times steep increase in price makes it easily achievable. But achieving a $200 and more variation within an very short period to reach $1000 is highly impossible.

With the price crossing $790, it would be very pessimistic to expect to begin the New Year at anything less than $800. Right now, I think $830 is on the cards for Bitcoin. This holiday season is really the time to celebrate.  Smiley

actually it is not pessimistic at all. there is still $11 left to go ($789 right now) and it has always been harder to rise to a new price than rising to a price that existed before.
2722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am sorry to say, Mike Hearn was right. on: December 17, 2016, 08:54:38 AM
Two years ago he threw a bitch fit and said if we don't increase blocksize, the network will die.  Now, Circle is taking their $138 million and leaving along with many, many others.  The congestion has jammed up the network and it is no longer useful.  While we still have our pure values of decentralization, we also have a dysfunctional system that no longer serves many of the original intents.

We should go to 8MB today.  Keep building LN so we don't have to one day go to 16MB.  That way, all involved in making blockchain projects will stay with Bitcoin instead of running away to other FinTech like Jeremy Allaire.

We CAN have it both ways!  8MB is the new 'small block'.

I don`t know who Mike Hearn is and don`t know much about blocksizes,LN and all this stuff.

A major player like Circle left bitcoin and the btc price even increased.

Bitcoin is stronger than before,i guess.

you are a strange guy Cheesy
you have been on this forum and as a bitcoin user you don't know who Mike Hearn is and haven't head the FUD he spread back when price was $450

and on top of that you call circle a big player?
it was just a service on the internet that didn't even have half as many users as other counterparts.
they had to do free money giveaways to get users to start using their service. it was something like $10 or 20 something back then.
2723  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Full Nodes Are Operated By Businesses? on: December 15, 2016, 12:19:49 PM
for instance multibit is free. but the number of users using it is limited so expect maybe 20x less people using a paid for service compared to a free service of similar concept.

since you mentioned multibit, i'd like to add a little bit of history regarding this.

Multibit was free, and some day the developers decided to release a new version and add a little bit of fee to this new version called Multibit HD and that fee was going to the developers. this little feature was called BRIT
this caused lots of resentment and eventually people stopped using Multibit HD and either switched to classic or Electrum and other wallets.

the developers finally gave up on that (IMO stupid) idea and removed it in version 0.3.0 eventually.
2724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ether price? on: December 15, 2016, 12:05:24 PM
I think it will go back to ico prices or lower so < $1.00

i am not denying the fact that ETH is going down and may even die but going back to $1 price will take a long time and lots more dumps by everyone including whales to get there.

and don't forget ETH has always been a manipulated coin and not much has changed in that front.

I also believe Ethereum will lose more and more in value over time.Look at the all time chart.
There is no bottom found yet.The last short pump was just another attempt to get some more dumb money in, so that whales and probably devs can continue cashing out or switching to other coins.

as i said ETH is a manipulated coin and it is hard for its price to go down to zero overnight.

and now that some time has passed from my first comment we can see that more clearly. the price has made a small bounce back and became stable and now it is starting to go down a bit again with the $8 broken and not much support there may be another wave of dumps coming or just another testing the waters. we should wait and see.
2725  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin is a good investment now, because... on: December 15, 2016, 11:59:35 AM
Yes bitcoin is a good to invest now because we know that bitcoin have future. We know that bitcoin have a good profits once the price goes up so bitcoin can give us big profit. So buy now bitcoin and keep it till the price reach your desire price.
Yeah bitcoin have really a great future because we know that bitcoin price is rising very faster day by day and bitcoin is getting too much popularity in the world and adopting is also increasing and i am sure that bitcoin price is much more stronger so we can invest in bitcoin without any worry.
I will add that even if we do not think about future profit and only keep our money in bitcoin to avoid any rob and stealing of our money or to avoid any bank fees and tax then we will not have to worry about our money because now the time has gone when it was thought that bitcoin will crash or any unwanted situation will occur.

Bitcoin is still a risky investment. If it went up for a year now, this is not a proof that it will continue to go up in the next year. We are all hoping for that, but anything could occur. Many unwanted situations can happen as they happened in the past, for instance, the Bitfinex incident. There is no guarantee that something like this won't happen in the future, or something even more dangerous and detrimental. Whatever the circumstances, we should always remain realists.

that is what speculation is all about. you check out things that are contributing to a rise and things that are contributing to a fall.
and so far a rise has a bigger force, and with the addition of adoption that is growing day by day there is no reason for price to go down.

and all those little incidents that you mentioned are bumps on the road. something like bitfinex was mostly fear coupled with manipulation that lead to a temporary drop which also price recovered fast enough. and will do in the future possible cases.
2726  Economy / Economics / Re: Paper bitcoins (bitnotes). Is it worth it? on: December 15, 2016, 11:54:10 AM
i am sure there are people that would like such thing, as they like many other things like gold note or paper gold (or whatever the hell they are called in English) but i would never go near it. because one of the reasons why bitcoin is interesting to me is that it is all digital and without any interference from a third party.
2727  Economy / Speculation / Re: What % of the Total Market Cap of Gold should Bitcoin represent? on: December 15, 2016, 11:48:38 AM
comparing bitcoin and gold is never correct in my opinion because they actually have nothing in common. specially if you are comparing them in market cap!

there are 1.64e+11 gram gold available (approximately 181,881 ton)
1 gram gold costs 36.23 USD
gold has been around for hundreds of years.

there are 2.1e+7 bitcoin or better said 2.1e+15 satoshi available with the smallest amount 1 satoshi worth 0.000007 USD

if bitcoin is around as long as gold and it grows with the speed it is growing right now it will have a ridiculously large market cap and there are enough bitcoin units (satoshi) available to support that.
2728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: USD to Bitcoin Walle6? on: December 14, 2016, 12:47:36 PM
... I've never had to buy bitcoin at an exchange so I'll have to probably learn that. ....
wish an app developer would create one for this purpose. I'd buy it and so would many others.

i don't think there are any APPs for purchasing from any exchange out there, although making one is very easy because they all offer decent APIs and any third party can make one for others open source and easy.

and since you say you want to pay with card, check out Cex.IO i only know them as an exchange that accept cards.
2729  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best website I can buy LTC/BTC with paypal? on: December 14, 2016, 12:41:58 PM
I recommend you holding your BTC in Coinbase wallet if you are not yet technical about others option. Its simple and easy to use online wallet.

using a web wallet is generally never a good suggestion and when that web wallet is coinbase it is absolutely not a good suggestion. you can use it for buying bitcoin if you are a newbie and want an easy way.

but for storing bitcoin it is a bad idea. using a desktop or better yet a cold storage is a lot better. and it is not hard even for a newbie.

Quote
As regarding conversion, try changer4u, jojo.cash, changer.com, etc.
Wait, it would be best if you visit bestchange.com. just choose the direction there, for example- btc to paypal and they will find best exchangers for you.

if you decided to use any of these service or the ones in other comments be extra careful because there are some scammers among some of these (i have never used any of them though but i have seen complains) that have only made a website to scam you.
2730  Economy / Economics / Re: Most Secure Currency to Hold Funds on: December 14, 2016, 12:36:04 PM
if you are looking for general "Security" then the best option is as it has always been, Bitcoin. you can make a cold storage that is the safest way of storing money in the world to this day.

but if you are talking about "price security" or better say "price stability and profit" then nothing is the best.
bitcoin has been good so far. and it is obvious on the charts when you zoom out to 1,2+ years. but it is still volatile although the range of its volatility has also decreased.
everything else is the same too, you have volatility in gold,... you have inflation in fiat.
2731  Economy / Speculation / Re: As bitcoins price holds steady on: December 14, 2016, 12:29:03 PM
its almost ten days the price is not moving into higher price, always down and then up but its not more than $776. if this is stay like this until then its hard to get it more than $800 in the end of this year. but if suddenly china people make a pump, then the price will be reach the higher price.

Why people really wants to achieve their desire target in just one wave? Let the current price build some good support around it. A rush price increase will also create an instant price decrease because of profit taking. If the price will just be slowed down like this then definitely traders will have some brainstorming if they will buy or sell. Since it's slow, expect some few bearish activity and quite increase for a bullish activity which is a good way for price to increase slowly.

Just enjoy what we are today. Unexpected events in bitcoin will happen soon.

those who are talking about a big price like prices above $1000 or even $800-900 range are two groups at this point.
- those who are hyping up the price who maybe are hoping or trying for a pump.
- and those that have never looked at a price chart before in their life and don't know how price has been changing lately!.

in any case, we are at $770+ price range and history has proven that price is not going to change that easily without anything big behind it and it goes for both ways (up and down) and currently there is nothing going on.
2732  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Many Bitcoin Full Nodes Are Operated By Businesses? on: December 14, 2016, 12:22:03 PM
developers: sure
individuals interested in bitcoin and contributing to the network: sure
businesses like mining pools, exchanges, gambling sites, mixers: sure
other businesses: No. because all of them tend to use services that come in the middle and make things easier and safer for them.
for example Steam that started accepting bitcoin, they go through bitpay. there are many other big businesses that do the same, so none of them run full nodes.

and also because of the anonymity of bitcoin and Nodes that you only know their IP there is no way anyone can give the right answer to this question. unless you go around finding every single IP address and find out if it is a real IP (not VPN,...) and who owns it which is not possible.
2733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin In insurance on: December 14, 2016, 12:14:55 PM
so far i have only been seeing people who look at bitcoin as an investment and nothing else. and since there aren't already too many people using bitcoin the chances of an insurance company getting a customer who is using bitcoin and then the chances of that person be willing to pay with bitcoin (go into his investment) is so slim and i don't see how the company can be successful with doing this.
2734  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: never invest your hard earned without reading this. on: December 11, 2016, 10:23:14 AM
Experience has shown that: Trading forex is very risky and most times inexperienced traders jump into trade with they hard earned money without thinking of what they going into. Please advice inexperienced trader here.!!!!!

I totally agree with that, although there are platforms like eToro where newbies can copy

the best traders.Forex is very risky,if you don`t have enough knowledge about the market and trading.

"copy the best traders" that is the start of a big fail because first of all you can never find out what others are "really" doing and all the things that you can find online and you may think are golden, they are in fact a hidden scheme by the posters of those things to make themselves richer not help others.

with the price rises that bitcoin is experiencing and also since i expect more follow up rises in the new year i am not so willing to invest in any of the altcoins at the moment, because they are all falling.

but apart from that i always look for investing opportunities in LTC, XMR and sometimes new coins that are still hot and are getting pumped.
2737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Indonesian Largest Bitcoin Exchange Reach 788 USD while Other in 770 USD area on: December 11, 2016, 09:59:08 AM
Price may be slightly higher, but how much volume?
If only one or two Bitcoin sell at this price, its not going to make any difference.
It's going to take more than a few BTC to change the price on other exchanges.
just visit to this link https://vip.bitcoin.co.id/ and then post your opinion at here and not only guessing because just like i said before that this is big exchange in indonesia and for each days volume support for bitcoin approximately 100 btc-500 btc even some times ago volume support in this exchange could reach more than 1000 btc indeed that's not really huge if we compare with bitfinex or huobi but i think those volume is pretty high

it doesn't allow seeing the exchange page like the orderbooks, charts, etc without an account first (it needs registration) and for that it requires phone number something that most people are not willing to give.

also based on their help page, they do not offer USD deposits, so what is the point of this thread i have no idea!

2739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sorry to all who buy Zcash at 1btc + on: December 10, 2016, 02:24:13 PM
There is more time . We have to wait at least a year .

After a year, if the ZCash can prove itself. The price could rise again. It has to be useful to somebody for people to buy it.

people said this for Zcash before, then they said the same thing about ethereum not so long time ago then they said the same thing about another altcoin and another that we don't even remember their names anymore.

it is all the same story, they get pumped and fools buy and then they are forced to sell under priced because the dump happened by the whales.
2740  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: -----SCAM ALERT, 99.9% of coins below this line are scams------ on: December 10, 2016, 02:19:07 PM
Stick to BTC and LTC for this decade until blockchain evolves from infancy.  Everything else is flashy P&D smoke and mirror scam.
Didn't you mean *R&D ?Even the developers know it is a pump and dump trail, helps them make a few bucks which is not so bad since we have lot of idiots to fall for anything. However add Monero to the list of good coins, they aren't flashy enough.

these days nobody is looking for anything more than a quick buck in altcoins. everyone only wants a good pump and dump coin to join in the pump and them make some money out of it.
it is not easiest or cleanest way of making money online but if it works it works and who cares if it is a copy of another altcoin with a different name Cheesy
