2721  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bounties and Airdrops on: June 25, 2022, 06:08:47 AM
Yes, it is but there is still genuine bounty though. I believe the problem is from the bounty manager and participant because they didn't do the needed research about the project before working for them.
Yes, we advise about DYOR (Do Your Own Research) but I don't think that's enough too because research for the sake of it without looking in the right direction hasn't done much. Knowing where to look is the key to research. We've had reputable managers here who run Bitcoin paying signature campaigns dabble into bounty campaigns and also fell to scam projects. The research thing isn't 100% that one won't still get scammed. Crypto is a complicated field. We should give it up for users here who make it a duty to check for scam projects in the Scam Accusation thread. They're doing a fantastic job at it.
2722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China warns Bitcoin is heading to zero on: June 24, 2022, 06:40:09 PM
Thank you China for that vital information 🙄. Now, get lost! I ain't sure anyone wants to hear that from a country that hasn't hidden its hatred for Bitcoin. Whatever the main reason China fights Bitcoin is yet to be revealed. It has finally dawned on her that all its efforts to cripple Bitcoin through numerous bans haven't stalled it a bit, now it's to FUD on it. This too won't work. It's going to fall flat on its face like other propaganda of hers.
2723  Other / Meta / Re: Spamming way of creating threads on: June 24, 2022, 04:15:47 PM
Well, I don't see how too much knowledge (so to say) can kill anyone. If the OP feels he has a truckload of topics to download from their medulla oblongata, so be it. We are all here to learn. I checked, briefly though, some of the topics by the user. They aren't that bad for discussion. It's just that users don't find them interesting to engage them for the time being. My initial worry was if the user in question was a plagiarist. However, that's not the case as articles used are properly referenced by the user. Yes, I agree that some of the topics are quite abstract but that doesn't qualify them as spamming. Perhaps, the user should have delayed in pushing out those topics almost same time. They should've spaced them weekly.
2724  Other / Meta / Re: [SUGGESTION] A Confirmation POP-UP Message Before Publishing A Post on: June 24, 2022, 11:28:41 AM
Confirmation pop up for new topic: Enable l Disable
Confirmation pop up for new post (reply): Enable l disable

Because if there is anything like that without it having settings, it will be both for OP (topic) and posts under OP and it will be very annoying.
Yes, I think it would be best to have options with everything in life; otherwise it becomes monotonous. However, the feature OP is asking for can be seen to have already been covered with "Preview". I know many don't even know or use the "Preview" tab. It's just below this box while typing, close to the "Post" tab. It wasn't until recently I discovered that treasure and it has tremendously been helping me edit my posts before sending out. Just click on preview and the post appears like it will when delivered. With that, one can do necessary corrections and adjustments before posting. Even after previewing a post without posting it, it stays there as saved up.
2725  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is the crash in bitcoin price a threat to forum existence? on: June 24, 2022, 08:40:17 AM
Have seen threads like this in prior dumps too, this forum did fine when Bitcoin was close to worthless, it will do just fine.
Bless you for that! Exactly my perspective too. Bitcoin suffered heavily after its ATH in 2017 yet this forum remained. I mean, it hasn't taken the type of beating it took at that time when it plummeted from $19k to below $3,200. For me, the only thing that can make this forum fizzle out will be the death of Bitcoin. Even though Bitcoin isn't the only thing discussed here, it's death will cause many members to exit in disappointment.

Now, i have to leave. Wife needs some support, because her grandma died last night in hospital. No big loss, as she was a salty, toxic narcissist bitch. THe world (and herself) is better off without her
Congratulations, then!

2728  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My First Investments on: June 21, 2022, 05:41:00 PM
I am a newbie and would like to invest $1000 to start. I have read that I should put 40 percent into bitcoin and diversify the other 60 percent. I need opinions, advice, and anything from those with experience of positive value. Smiley
I've come to realize in investment that your first win always strengthens your confidence level and propels you to invest more. On that note, I think you won't be getting it wrong investing more percentage in Bitcoin than in alts. You should've done a 60% to 80% in Bitcoin and then do the remaining in alts that you would've researched thoroughly. Bitcoin investment is safer than investment in alts. Hey! Come to think of it, Bitcoin is at a good entry level at the moment; whether it goes down further or not. Just invest and close your app and act semi forgetfully about it till end of this year before checking what ROI it has earned you.
2729  Other / Meta / Re: [INFO]Gambling Board Spams; Concerns, Solutions & Suggestions on: June 21, 2022, 04:28:04 PM
Self moderation doesn't always have to mean that you're censoring users. You could just be removing off topic, and unsubstantial posts, rather than relying on the forum moderators. That's a perfectly legitimate reason to open one up. You don't have to delete posts you don't agree with.
In the real sense of that expression, your first sentence as quoted should be enough reason to diffuse any doubt around having a self-moderated thread. Sadly, your last sentence is often why most users self moderate. It hurts when one finds one's post(s) deleted for differing to OP's opinion. It suppresses healthy cross-fertilization of ideas when that happens. My observation is that despite the spam in the gambling board, moderators are hesitant in deleting posts there unlike their swift deletion when it comes to other boards. Do we take it to mean that moderators don't patrol that board often like they do others?

My suggestion for controlling spam on that board will be for moderators to lock any thread exceeding 50 pages, no matter how interesting anyone thinks the discussions going on there is. Secondly, campaigns should reduce their weekly post count requirement on that board to just five posts instead of 10. That way, participants won't hastily populate those threads with unconstructive posts and make them redundant.
2730  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC is being too nice. Most people don't deserve the chance to buy it so cheap. on: June 21, 2022, 11:53:55 AM
most people don't deserve another chance after they had thousands of chances to buy it cheap and did nothing.
Well, one might've the opportunity to buy Bitcoin cheap or "another chance" as you put it and not do it because of other exegeses at hand. It doesn't mean one is foot dragging when that happens. It will simply mean investing in Bitcoin isn't the goal at the time. Trust me, opportunities to buy Bitcoin will always present themselves from time to time. That said, I think a better opportunity is even likely to come upon us soon as many speculators have projected a further crash in days to come before the bull resumes. Besides,  there could be those who bought Bitcoin when it debuted a decade ago but who don't have any or much now while there are those who bought a few years ago and have continued to accumulate till date.
2731  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Taking Loans - Is it ideal? on: June 21, 2022, 09:26:38 AM
I responded to a similar thread to this yesterday. The bottom line (no pun intended) of my response to this situation is to alert whoever wants to take out a loan to purchase Bitcoin or any other cryptos to make sure they've assets/cash for repayment by the side in case of loss. Bitcoin bull and bear are always in a circle. One comes as the other dies down. This circle has kept repeating itself over the years. I don't know why people tend to be in a rush whenever there's a repeat. Can't people just set up capital by the side in preparation for the bear season? We know it MUST surely come after the bull. It's like the expected sunshine after the rains. It must happen. Now, the trick is this – if you miss this bear season, wait for the next.

BTW, those rushing to buy Bitcoin now should bear (no pun, again) in mind that crypto investment isn't a get rich quick scheme. It's so they don't get burnt to the point of suicide.
2732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Was 17600$ was the bottom ? on: June 21, 2022, 09:05:50 AM
Maybe 17600$ was the bottom or do you think there is more dump in the coming days/weeks?
I still feel we aren't done with correction yet. My reason being that there isn't anywhere to find a major support again after it broke the $21,000+ line a few days ago. That's where it's at currently in rebound. On the weekly close, the bears aren't done. Though at Daily and D4hr TFs, there are signs of reversal, I still want to go with my earlier projection that the bears aren't done yet. It seems a bull trap for me. While I believe $12k could be possible, I don't think we can FUD Bitcoin to $6k.
2733  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin special? on: June 20, 2022, 09:03:05 PM
Can you of a truth say you haven't encountered Bitcoin transaction delays that lasted more than 24hrs? I have. In fact, I've experienced one that lingered more than 72hrs (I've read of people who complained of longer time too).
I understood mempool congestion could be frustrating at times.
Not at times, all the time. It's highly frustrating whenever that happens.
2734  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why your alt didn't dump as much on: June 20, 2022, 08:42:18 PM
I don't know if I'm the only one who is lost here, following OP as they didn't list the alt they're hodling which didn't dump. From what I've seen on crypto sites and my portfolio, alts dumped seriously. Except OP is referring to stablecoins, otherwise alts dumped. They're likely to dump even more in days to come as I believe Bitcoin isn't yet done with its correction. We know whenever Bitcoin goes down, it drags alts with it.
2735  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: crippling losses on: June 20, 2022, 07:40:02 PM
1. Practice with virtual portfolios first for a while
2. Use smaller allocations per trade so you have more runway even if you get consecutive losses
3. Think about your trades really well first before pulling the trigger
4. Don't trade

Pick one.
Even at that, all you mentioned can't absolve anyone of losses. Losing is a part and parcel of trading. It's a business cousin to winning, so to speak.

Loss is gain in trading. It's just that traders don't actually like learning from losses and invariably fail to see the gain in a loss. Whenever you lose in trades, go back to your trading plan and rejig it to know what must've gone wrong. Don't see loss as failure. See it as learning lesson.
2736  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin special? on: June 20, 2022, 02:12:14 PM
Bitcoin truly has the strongest blockchain. The confirmation time for a transaction can take 10 minutes but it helps the security in some ways.

About fee, bitcoin transaction fee is not high, I did not spend up to or more than $0.06 in the last transactions I made, although, the mempool is not congested, but the mempool is most of the time not congested or getting congested.
You forgot to point out times when the pool is congested and what happens. What we're doing here calls for objective analysis and not nitpick favourable times. Can you of a truth say you haven't encountered Bitcoin transaction delays that lasted more than 24hrs? I have. In fact, I've experienced one that lingered more than 72hrs (I've read of people who complained of longer time too). While Bitcoin is rated safer than others (at least), it still has its own issues such as I mentioned. This isn't to take away anything from it though. Just imagine Bitcoin having half of the attributes of ETH like its smart contract and others in addition to what it already has. Just imagine that 🤔

This topic Merry Christmas to the Forum is similar to the case mentioned above, however, it got about 9 merits from @Cyrus

A Crypto Christmas; Using Bitcoin to help feed the homeless
The example you pointed out from the links you supplied and what the OP reported here aren't the same in any way. If anything, they're poles apart in miles. I believe what OP reported was a mere greetings of sort but what you pointed out isn't just mere greetings. The OP in your report used that season opportunity to showcase some charitable works they've done and the publicity that was involved, both for themselves and the entire forum as we can see the name of this forum there. It was based on that, I believe, users merited them.

BTW, kindly check the links you supplied. Both contained the same thread.
2739  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why is bitcoin special? on: June 20, 2022, 10:19:43 AM
First off, I like to state here that I've shared the same sentiment elsewhere and then I summarily realized that Bitcoin's strength is derived from its community. It has a strong fan base, no doubt. Besides, it's the pathfinder in this game. I've continued to wonder how a crypto without a smart contract or any other utility apart from payment and not even a PoS can still retain the number one spot and doing well in terms of price while Ethereum with all its innovative help to other projects lags a distant second. Maybe there are stuff about Bitcoin that has eluded me on this. We sure can do with experts' input and comments on this puzzle here.
2740  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [Q]To take a loan or not to on: June 20, 2022, 09:29:50 AM
It sounds a great idea to invest into cryptos at a time like this that we're beginning to think we've hit the bottom and that market will rebound any moment from now. Judging from that, I don't think it's such a bad idea taking a loan to finance a credible crypto investment. However, you should make sure that you've something that can help you repay that loan in case your investment fails and you're distressed. Make sure not to take a loan that will be too huge for you to repay, even spread out on your signature earnings in case you don't have elsewhere you can get cash from. For those saying it's a risk, I hope we all know that life itself is a huge risk too and not taking risk they say is the biggest risk in life.
