200+ sat is expensive for 1 billion coins

Are you aware Bitshares is traded around 4k sat and it has 2 billion coins?

NXT is traded around 4-5k and it has almost 1 bilion coins

So, 200 sat is very cheap compare to what this coin will offer to the world. If you're smart you'll buy it, store in your wallet and forget about it. Come back after 1+ year and boom! one coin is now $.50-$1 and you're rich. Grin

Everyone needs to calm down. ICO ended 2 days ago it'll take time before it hits other exchanges. Why do you want it to hit Trex so badly?

Just transfer it to your wallet and stake if you don't like bter and wait till hits trex.

I presume anyone who wants it on trex is just looking to run away with profit. If you're in for long term you should already know that sooner or later it'll be listed on all exchanges...so why make it a big deal?

There are other things that are listed in roadmap that needs to be done and they're WAY more important than running after exchanges to get bitbay listed. May be we should put more focus on working with roadmap rather than getting all tossed up about bay being on trex or other exchanges.

Absolutely!
Being eager to catch the next pump and dump is NOT something good for the community or the coin.

To support the project we need to focus on what really matters.

First, we need to achieve the technical milestones. I don't worry at all about that, ICO money will see to that.

But even more important is to see those features being put to actual use.
I want to see Alibaba suppliers using the smart contract technology to actually deliver products.
I want to see an increasing number of customers / end users actually using the escrow features in BAY to actually buy and sell things.

The technical features are NOT a monopoly of BAY. There are many coin projects (SuperNet, VIA, DC, Counterparty, Maidsafe) that compete for real life adoption.

If there is anything that the community must push for is getting this technology into actual use.

That is the only way we can see valuations of $0.1 or even $1 in the long run.

Getting to bitrex to sell at 600 Satoshi because devs will achieve MilestoneX is OK but we've seen this movie a hundred times already and it doesn't end well....

I for one want to listen and discuss with BitBay team ideas and plans above the technical milestones: how to market the new features, how to get people actually use them!

x1000

Everyone should put more emphasis on making this coin work in real world and that's where all the efforts need to be put. Getting it on exchanges should be last thing in our list and I hope bay team understand this and don't get distracted by these people who're just waiting for another pump as soon as hits trex.

This is still an investment at the end of the day but it's a long term one, probably the best long term one in Crypto actually. It has value cause it links with the real world or trade, when coins dont have this they are purely based on hoped for imagined value and use but this actually has a clear cut usage plan. People if they get the significance of this project would be buying hand over fist. The only reason I'm not is I already did. People are going to feel stupid that they sold this coin at these prices...I guarantee it.

Yes, sooner it hits trex or other exchanges more harmful it'll be for long term investors who believe in this project. It'll become more volatile as soon as hit trex or cryptsy.

Personally, I could careless if hits trex today, this week or even this year. My coins are stored in wallet and I'm not planning to sell them until everything is implemented (that's where majority of the profit lies)

Bay team is working on wallet/marketplace and someone comes out of nowhere starts telling them to put on trex...what happens next? They get distracted from the real work and now everything is delayed because some people don't know how to look at long term value of this coin.

Need some help importing .dat backup file from usb into a new wallet? If you have the time a small guide would be awesome so other noobs have somewhere to get the answer also.

Many thanks in advance this has been emotional  Cheesy Huh.

On the  computer, just go here:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Roaming\BitBay
...and replace the wallet.dat file with your backup .dat (rename it back to "wallet" if you saved it under a different name).

You will then have the original wallet's addresses and transaction data. You will also have to use the same password so remember it. If anything, you may need to re-sync with the blockchain to get current but that is understandable.

Just picked up another 17,000 BAY, I cannot believe what people are selling thier coins for. Why would anyone want to let their coins go at or below what try paid at ICO? Or is this just buy/sell support to stabilize the price till the market picks up and figures out what an extraordinary potential this coin/community this is!

Few reasons:

Sell on your own buy wall
Panic sellers sell
You buy their coins
Now you have more cheap coins than you previous had
Profit???

That I dislike David is absurd. I said here from the beginning that David is a very knowledgeable professional and he answered here with civility and he was really professional. He seems a great guy. I have nothing but respect for that young man who create a wonderful technology. As you know very well, the discussion is about who is running the show here? That's why the Blackhand group was mentioned, not because anyone is questioning David's integrity. We understand David is not collectiong the money here, he is a developer, and we would just  like to know who is then the collector of the 3000 BTC?

I would become very nervous if BitBay paid 5 BTC to get listed on Trex or any other exchange.

Money should only be used to develop this project.

It'll be listed on its own within few days and the way this coin is going I'm pretty sure exchanges would be begging us to list it on their site soon.  Cool

Bastards buy high and sell low. Until i have all of the coins Grin. Lots of people only want quick profit and don't trust in it longterm. But i do.

Most people are unable to see long term in crypto. If you hold this coin for 2 months your profit will be 20x of what it can be today or tomorrow.
I don't think you can say 2m is a long term.

It's long to the people who can't hold their coins for longer than few hours.  Grin

2 months would still give you better return than you'll get today but the longer you wait more profitable it can turn.

From here on...how long does it take to receive my next stake then next and so on....?
Depends on how many clients are online. The more there are, the longer it takes. At least that is my experience from another PoS coin.

It says 10 connections are online and 19 minutes. Will I receive same amount in each stake?  Embarrassed

I'm wondering what the advantage is for BitBay, with respect to Brawker that just launched a decentralized marketplace.

Brawker is small ..very small compare  to what BitBay is doing.

You can think of Bitbay as Ebay for crypto. All of that will be integrated into a wallet and I think when you want to sell something/hire someone etc you can do it via wallet. Another thing is Brawker is only for bitcoin and majority of people don't use bitcoin because transaction time is extremely slow and that explains why there aren't that many sellers on brawker.

There is no option to import wallet.dat.  Huh

I want to back up my wallet to pen drive and keep it in secure place.

Uninstall software

Import it in January (or later)

Will my coins keep staking eventhough I no longer have software installed and wallet.dat is not stored on my computer?

I don't think I understand the issue.  I saved my wallet.dat to a USB just fine.  The option to back up the wallet is in the same place as every every other QT - Click file and select 'Backup wallet'.

As long as your coins are in your wallet and the wallet is either unlocked or "encrypted + 'Unlocked for staking'" then your coins will stake...

Cool. I wanted to test it but I don't see an option to import wallet.

How would I import it on different computer?

Do I have to wait 8 hrs before I encrypt it?

No.  Encrypt it right away once your coins are in your wallet.

Quote
Does it have to be online for straight 8 hrs before I can stake?

No.  The coins will mature once they are in your wallet.  You just have to open the wallet every so often to download the network information.

Quote
How many coins would I receive in each stake?

It depends on how many coins you have.

Quote
Does it slow down overtime or I would receive same amount of coins?

The stake is one percent per year.

Great. Thanks!

Thanks whetherman; I think it would help simplify the process of explaining to new people.  This way, a link can be provided and any additional questions may actually build upon and create a constructive discourse rather than a hoshposh of posts that I don't really want to read.  I would like to be a constructive part of the community but I am not sure how much patience I have for people who are willfully ignoring previous post history in order to cause a scene.  If we had a closed thread that we could link to in order to save everyone from expending energy re-explaining then we could concentrate upon further ideas.

Of course, this would be in addition to what the BitBay team are already doing but I feel that they should be the ones who author that thread for official purposes.

How long does it take before it starts staking?

8 hours?

Can encrypted wallet receive stake or no?

8 hours is correct.  An encrypted wallet can stake but after it is encrypted you have to 'unlock' it (it will be the bottom option in the left side bar) and make sure that when you input your password that the box is checked for "unlock for staking only".  Give it a few minutes for the staking icon to recognize it...

Thanks. Very nice info.
