Litecoin went from 10 cents to 2.75$ now. I wish I would have invested
Don't you mean 0 cents to $2.75?
2782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of ASICs on Bitcoin security on: July 03, 2013, 04:29:15 PM
Yes, ASICs have unfortunately ruined Bitcoin.  If you're looking for security, use Litecoin.
Litecoin is not ASIC proof.

In technicality is is not.  In reality it is.  ASICs would be a poor way to attack any scrypt coin as they would be more expensive then just buying off the shelf GPU's to carry out the same attack and useless after.

As I see it, until the ASICs are more evenly held in the market, it is harder to do a 51% on LTC then on BTC.  My hope is that ASICs will become more evenly distributed to the mining community.  Right now they are in too few hands.

This is nonsense.  What keeps litecoin from attracting ASICs is that litecoin is pointless, not some magic in scrypt.  If litecoin ever gets to the point that people are actually using it for commerce, then ASICs will follow quickly.

Cost is holding back ASICs for now. Problem is once they are developed and released, Litecoin loses it's biggest selling point.
2783  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why people holding their coins when the price is going down for sure... on: July 03, 2013, 01:52:43 PM
Im just curious all of you who holding coins knowig that tommorow price will be a X% smaller or even XX% smaller. This is madness...
Problem is putting them on any exchange is a risk in itself. They may suddenly go missing.
2784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of ASICs on Bitcoin security on: July 03, 2013, 01:48:50 PM
I think they should do away with the difficulty increase. Then everyone with a computer could hash some coins.  People with a faster computer would get more coins but even Joe Shmoe with his 5 year old laptop can make some money then.

Is this some form of bizarre sick joke?
2785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Impact of ASICs on Bitcoin security on: July 02, 2013, 09:01:36 PM
While the market cap of Bitcoin might be around $1 billion, it would be difficult to create a double spend and "cash-out" $7.5 million to recoup costs.

Anyone attacking the network in this manner is probably only looking to destroy the network at this point.

Yes, ASICs have unfortunately ruined Bitcoin.  If you're looking for security, use Litecoin.

Explain why you think ASICs have ruined Bitcoin. I think its actually good for it.

The network is being secured by fewer entities.  The whole principle of Bitcoin's security is that the hashing power be massively distributed.
I bet most people mine on a small handful of centralized pools in Litecoin. The hashing power is in the hands a few also.

They should be using decentralized pools like p2pool to migrate this risk.

2788  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a guide on how to double or even triple your bitcoins in 3-5 days on: July 02, 2013, 03:48:14 PM
Unless... it's not so guaranteed as he hopes others believe.
Which means he loses the bet immediately.

Prepare yourself for some major backpeddling.
2789  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a guide on how to double or even triple your bitcoins in 3-5 days on: July 02, 2013, 03:30:12 PM
i'll accept your bet..... as long as the guide does not say "buy low, sell high and repeat"
He can't use that method because he cannot guarantee you would be able to sell or buy the Bitcoins.

What this bet is really about is the guarantee part of the deal not the doubling of Bitcoins.

Think about it, there are only a few ways to acquire coins:

1) Buy them. - Can't use that because there is no way of guaranteeing someone will sell them to you. That includes exchanges, because there is no guarantee they will be open.
2) Mine them solo or pooled. - Can't use that. Nothing in mining is guaranteed.
3) Steal them. - Can't use that. The exploit may be plugged. Not guaranteed.
4) Given them by someone else. - Can't use that. No guarantee that person will not change their mind.
5) Sell something in exhange. - Can't use that, no guarantee of a buyer.

Let's start with 1 BTC:

Day 5 -  2 BTC
Day 10 - 4 BTC
Day 15 - 8 BTC
Day 20 - 16 BTC
Day 25 - 32 BTC
Day 30 - 64 BTC
Day 35 - 128 BTC
Day 40 - 256 BTC
Day 45 - 512 BTC
Day 50 - 1024 BTC
Day 55 - 2048 BTC
Day 60 - 4096 BTC
Day 65 - 8192 BTC
Day 70 - 16384 BTC
Day 75 - 32768 BTC
Day 80 - 65536 BTC
Day 85 - 131072 BTC
Day 90 - 262144 BTC
Day 95 - 524288 BTC
Day 100 - 1048576 BTC
Day 105 - 2097152 BTC
Day 110 - 4194304 BTC
Day 115 - 8388608 BTC
Day 120 - 16777216 BTC

Hey look, in a matter of 4 months I've got more Bitcoins than exist. AND IT'S GUARANTEED!!!!!!

Pretty much bet in the bag for me I think.

I choose John as escrow https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=31288 I'll let you sort out the details with him.

LOL  Cheesy

2791  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a guide on how to double or even triple your bitcoins in 3-5 days on: July 02, 2013, 08:43:30 AM
Im just trying to share the guide for a cheap cost and people that keep asking for it for free and to review it is not happening just yet.  I will let someone purchase it see what they think.   and .1 btc isn't that low for a guide.  I will bet anyone 1btc that it is a GUARANTEED WAY to double your bitcoins.  If you want to bet me then I will send you the guide and we can have someone trustworthy escrow this bet.
I'll take that bet.

The guaranteed doubled Bitcoins must exist on the main network and be accepted by a third party, such as mtGox.

That goes for the bet coins as well. So no starting your own blockchain.
2792  Economy / Goods / Re: Selling a guide on how to double or even triple your bitcoins in 3-5 days on: July 01, 2013, 09:39:26 PM
I own 11 million Bitcoins. Can your guarantee I can double that?

sorry Buffer_overflow. saw i had taken wrong nick from quote right
after i posted. fixed! Smiley

all im saying is that if you had listened to one off bushstar's radiointerviews
you would have gotten your answer. its not the first time ive heared the question and
its not the first time it would have been answered Roll Eyes
While the starting motivations of the project are questionable and I don't really see any advantage of using Feathercoin over Litecoin, short-term (1 - 2 years) I can see the price rising which I feel would be foolish of me to not take advantage of.

The project motivation is fantastic and as I've said in a previous post, feel many GPU miners will get bored of Litecoin (particularly newer arrivals) soon when the difficulty rises and profits are squeezed tighter and tighter. They will naturally look for another scrypt coin to point their hashing power at, and I think Feathercoin will be the one.

I'm also predicting that PPcoin will be a future riser as older slow ASICs become redundant with no resale value, miners will start pointing them at another SHA256 coin instead of Bitcoin.

Of course, no doubt something else will pop up and derail my plans though. Oh well...

Bushstar would you like to explain why you made no pre-announcement of the launch? (I guarantee we don't get an honest answer to this question).
Bumping this yet unanswered question, so it doesn't get forgotten about.

Its not forgotten, only ignored. And for good reasons.

I understand why bushstar do not bother to answer this question asked by buffer_overflow.

quote:I guarantee we donīt get an honest answer to this question
What kind of childish bullshit line is that. why should he spend time on explaining anything to Buffer_Overflow(aka trolly)... you have allready made up your mind about ftc, and the devs personally.
He has allready answered this type of question over and over again. Do some research before bluntly accusing people of lying, or question their choices.

Also note people, ftc is NOT ltc. why the hell should ftc follow the same formula for launch/envolvement like ltc.

like bushstar said (ps writing from memory so please dont quote me on this):
i watched the coins beeing out there, it stopped beeing fun to mine and be involved in those coins because i felt they had stopped evolving.
Decided to create my own which should be faster (4x) to mine than ltc, and that would be constantly improved/expanded.

Well the "fun"coin got popular, more people started backing it up. If bushstar knew then how far the coin would go he probably would have had higher start diff and tried to limit the starting mining speed.

LOL  Cheesy
If you read the post properly you'll discover I asked no question. Just bumped another members' question.

As a holder of FTC myself, I would like this query answered. Or maybe investors are not allowed to ask anything, just keep our heads down and keep quiet.
