281  Economy / Economics / Re: What are your plans for the next 5 years in Finance? on: July 11, 2018, 05:58:30 AM
I want to have "Passive Income"
I will raise capital to build a business that can provide me with passive income, so in my old age I do not need to work to earn money, how about you?
do you have an idea to build a business that can provide passive income with minimal capital?
My plan for the next five years is to have a financial freedom and have savings regularly. I do not savings for now since I have many kids to support with and my parents are with me. I want to support first the education of my kids so maybe after five years I can have financial freedom and I want also to have a stable business that can cope also the other needs of my family.

It may be none of my business, but you should really save up. Especially since you have kids. Don't wait for 5 years before you become financially free. In fact, you're already supposed to be financially free. Financial freedom means not having to rely or depend on someone for your daily expenses i.e. relying on the money/allowance given by your parents. This does not mean that you don't have any expenses or financial obligations (like the education of your kids), which I highly doubt will happen within the next 5 years. So unless you still rely on your parents despite already having kids of your own, then you should be financially free.
282  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/10]London School of Economics Launches Course related to Cryptocurrency on: July 11, 2018, 05:22:30 AM
Would accomplishing this course allow you to have some expertise over Cryptocurrency Investments? Is it going to be applicable in business or financial sectors? Most people nowadays consider first before getting a course whether it may be applied in real life or if its good for getting a job. Not everyone has the luxury to simply take a course out of pure interest. What are the job opportunities for getting this course?

In my country, fintech startup companies has been starting to rise and there's no specific area of study required for you to work at such companies but coming from IT would give you an edge. Perhaps such course would aid to areas like these since these businesses revolve around the said course.
283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Successful ICO projects on: July 11, 2018, 05:16:44 AM
What has made you say that this particular project/ICO will become successful? You have not even described what the project is about. If this is your way of subtly advertising them, then I think that you're failing badly because investors won't be attracted by what you have said. You may have mentioned that they have a hardworking team but even with a hardworking team, this would not guarantee the success of an ICO/project. Do they have knowledgeable mentors? You should check first its goals, whitepaper and road map whether it's feasible.
284  Economy / Economics / Re: Mistakes That Make You Poor Poor In Cryptocurrency on: July 11, 2018, 04:08:10 AM
With cryptocurrency, you have to be careful with any fraud and theft. and usually many people who are caught in the losses in the world of crypto is:
1. Not Backup Key
2. Electricity Billing Mining More
3. Lunes In Phishing Sites
4. Buy Coin With Rumors
5. Create a weak password
6. Steal With Stealth ICO

With cryptocurrency, no bank or other institution or regulation will protect you in the event of a loss.

Good List but you missed the main one, it is GREED! That is one factor which makes us poor while investing in cryptos. I know a lot of people who had bought bitcoin during late 2017 and proudly announced that move in facebook with a lot of hashtags. All of them are in loss today. SOme of them even used their credit card to purchase bitcoin hoping to make astronomical profit to cover the credit card interest fees and enjoy with the rest of the money.

GREED is one factor that drives us towards unrealistic profit making businesses. If greed is the factor that drives your instinct, you are pretty much doomed before you even start.

Greed can be said to be a main root cause since this in effect results to the different ways one may lose as cited by OP. Because of greed, people resort to extreme measures or become clumsy. Those who are hungry for money fail to see the red flags and overlook possible schemes and scams out of their desperation to gain money. If you are greedy, it’s also possible that you would invest even without researching first since you are so determined to profit and as a result, fall for scams or failed investments.
285  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tell about Bitcoin gambling site and your opinion & experience on: July 10, 2018, 04:58:14 PM
My first ever memory of gambling was with satoshidice. This is not just gambling on crypto or gambling online, this was my first time gambling EVER. Anyway at the time blockchain.info had this thing where you can gamble on satoshidice from their website. I had the money on blockchain.info and decided to send it over to satoshidice since it was really small.

I didn't put the transaction fee into calculation and what I needed to send to satoshidice didn't registered because it lacked the transaction fee. They did returned the money to me like in 2-3 days time but until than I reaaaally made a scene on bitcointalk and said how they were scammers and how they are pieces of something, it was like less than a dime Cheesy.

Having to deal with transaction fees is a hassle but having your deposit not registered into your account because of the lack of the tx fee is just unfair. I have not encountered such problems with using gambling sites, thankfully. I think it would be more of a problem if we encounter a hard time claiming our winnings, which happens with other gambling sites.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Awareness is the biggest influence. on: July 10, 2018, 04:50:03 PM
So we all know BTC drops when people sell their coins... but the peaking is purely because of investments...

The mall in S.Korea that started accepting BTC as of this month played a massive roll in BTC's growth. Obviously this is because BTC's awareness is growing!

Surely there are ways to bring the awareness of cryto to the population.

Are there any other 'blow ups' of crypto that you have heard of? Similar to the mall...
What are you doing to spread the awareness? Smiley
Bitcoin is known to almost every citizen around the world but still there are many people who are completely unaware of bitcoin and specially the people in remote areas where ithere is no accessibility of internet because internet is the prime need for operating bitcoin and we have to create awareness among these people and need to aware them about the bitcoin because in the end our future is going to end with bitcoin only therefore we have to aware every person about bitcoin.

I wouldn’t say every citizen. If I came up to someone today, I’m pretty sure that person does not fully understand bitcoin. It’s even possible that they have not heard about bitcoin at all. Awareness about bitcoin is not enough. There are many who have been aware because of the hype over it last December 2017 but do not know its function and uses other than having high value.
287  Economy / Economics / Re: stupidity is so close to poverty on: July 10, 2018, 04:42:32 PM
The poor lack the resources to attain an education so it’s not surprising that most of them are uneducated. One’s economic status does not determine a person’s intelligence so poor =/= stupid. In fact, there are rich people who are otherwise stupid despite going to school and having the resources. While at the otherhand, there are even some cases where there are extremely intelligent people however are poor and lack the money to go to higher schooling.
288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who dump coins early; Bounty hunters or ICO investors? on: July 10, 2018, 04:16:35 PM
You may have come up with the right assumption. There are actually whales who buy huge portions of the tokens and come the token end of the ICO, they dump their coins in order to gather profits. Once the token gets listed at an exchange, these whales sell all their tokens. Because of this, the price of the token goes down.

This is not the case all the time, however, as it is possible that the ICO has not been as successful.
289  Economy / Economics / Re: List of useful materials on economics on: July 10, 2018, 03:36:29 PM
-snip-

Yes, but I think we need to learn everything from the beginning, because when we study history at school, we are taught it not from the year when we were born, but the whole story from the beginning to our days. Unfortunately, I do not have an economic education, so I'll try to understand it here, and I'll probably help newbie. Smiley Smiley Smiley

Your analogy, I think is not quite correct. Learning the history and economy is different, they have different subjects to discuss and different methods to learn. I appreciate your spirit and willingness to learn economy, and I don't think learning about the traditional economy is still bad, 'cause the principal still stays the same. Currencies/cryptocurrencies are just a small portion of the economic spaces.

In fact, there are many economic principles which can be put to use and applied with cryptocurrencies. Whether traditional or historical, an economy will continously have the same principles regardless of time. This is why it’s best to study about the economy even if you think that cryptocurrencies are totally different. History is an entirely different concept, but its worthy to study the history of economics otherwise.
290  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Legalize Blockhcain - Legal Conference on: July 10, 2018, 02:35:00 PM
I don't see any point in attending such conferences. In my understanding, the conference is a meeting of enthusiasts who have a common goal. How can you sell tickets for such events? Lol. The topic is also very strange. They still did not understand that the legalization of bitcoin will destroy it?

I don’t see how legalizing bitcoin would destroy it. Just imagine once bitcoin has been declared in your country, then there would be more people willing to invest and enter in crypto. There are still many skeptical of bitcoin and its use because there’s the possibility that the country will declare a ban then all your effort will be for naught. It really is better to have legalizations for bitcoin and blockchain and perhaps this conference would shed light over it.
291  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-09]Crypto Bounty Hunting Is Offering A Way Out of Poverty on: July 10, 2018, 04:51:20 AM
But in the future it will only get worse, no one will trust ICO's and people who fully relied on them will go back to poverty.

Depends. I can imagine some proper bright sparks arriving via that route and then building something world changing in a crappy internet cafe on a dusty street somewhere. It's not an automatic dead end.

And even if this bounty shit vanishes, and I hope it does, it opens their minds to the fact they can now do business online. It doesn't have to be crypto specific. All they need to figure out is that they can now get paid securely and near instantly from anyone in the world.

Not all of the bounty hunters wil be able to see this opportunity. Even if crypto will give them the means to have secure payments feom all around the world, I don’t think that everyone will be able to utilize this once bounty hunting disappears.  Many have resorted to bounty hunting because it’s very easy to do whil there’s no level of skill and intelligence needed.
292  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Has the Crypto currency market stabilized? on: July 09, 2018, 03:17:17 PM
Maybe it's true because the market now is stable and always showing green and since it started to increases gradually last few days it always jump back after the small fluctuation of price .which is in my opinion  probably soon there will be a good performance again of the market ,
We can’t say for sure because every now and then, the price goes down. I wouldn’t say that it’s stable because the market has been green for the past few days. Even while the fluctuations have been small and less frequent, it’s possible for the price to plummet down or shoot up at almost any moment. What can be seen is that the price proves to be resilient at a range of $5-$7K and averages at about $6K.
293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin Restore it's Place in the Market? on: July 09, 2018, 02:04:56 PM
bitcoin has never lost its place on the market to want to restore it now! it is the same place it has always been... on top as the same scarce decentralized currency that everyone wants to have more of.

as for its "glory", nothing has changed. it is just your views that have changed because price is not constantly rising now. so you are surprised now to wake up each morning and see price is still $6k instead of being $7k, $8k, ... every day!

That’s true, and this has made the others have some doubt over the price of bitcoin. Since the price is not at an upwards trend, people have been scared that bitcoin will no longer attain the former ATH it has reached just last year. Others speculate that by the end of the year it would reach an entirely new and ultimate ATH but no one can really tell. The price trend may be different but there is still glory to it because it’s still way off high.
294  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency or Stock Market? on: July 09, 2018, 01:35:19 PM
Don’t expect to be able to cash out as easily and quickly when you invest in the stock market. Getting returns from your investment in the stock market would take years and it’s usually by the time you retire. This is why most financial advise suggest that you invest at a young age so that you’ll be enjoying your investment from the stock market come retirement (if it does prosper) whereas with bitcoin, you can have some profit even at a short period and cash it out easily.
295  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns [Last update: 13-Jun-2018] on: July 09, 2018, 01:31:00 PM
Please check Varanida i think there is something wrong with it
It looks fine the participants listed on the spreadsheet are still wearing the signatures and avatar. You can join their campaign by going to the link provided in the OP. I guess wapinter locked the thread to avoid spam.

Unfortunately Varanida signature campaign is currently closed for new participants as Wapinter team says on Telegram group, also I asked one of the participants about payments, and he confirmed me that he recieve payments in time.

Varanida is still on going since they’ll be having a week 6 and payments have been being distributed promptly every week. The thread may be locked but it may be because they’re no longer accepting new participants. There’s no word from the campaign manager but it looks like the current particpants are not having any problems for now.
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is the paradise of illegal money laundering on: July 07, 2018, 05:33:19 PM
Drug dealers and people laundering money want fiat. How do you get fiat? Exchanges follow KYC and if you exchange in person your face and identity are seen. It's not as easy as it sounds. Does it happen? yeah of course, but people have money laundered in crazy ways.

I’m pretty sure that money launderers either find a way around the exchanges or get to avoid having to deal with KYC. It may not be easy but these schemers would be willing to go through the hassle because they will have profit anyways. They would really go through crazy ways just to money launder. Pablo Escobar even had a hard time to the point where he buried some of his money because he already had so many. Let’s not make mistake, however, to think that the crypto market largely comprises of money laundering activities.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: "10 Common Mistakes We make with MONEY" on: July 07, 2018, 01:56:41 PM
Why give someone money at all? It's a bankers ' business. They have lost their money many times and have many ways to claim debts. Individuals do not have such opportunities. It seems to me that point one needs to be replaced by the fact that doing their business in which you have experience and do not go to someone else's territory. You will always be defenseless there. Leave loans to bankers.

Not everyone is capable enough to borrow from a bank. There are a lot of requirements needed to borrow in a bank and those who don’t have collateral are deprived of the opportunity to borrow money. The sad part is that SMEs are sometimes forced to resort to borrowing from loan sharks even when they can’t afford it because they have no choice. I know that it’s a bad idea to lend money because there’s a huge chance that it won’t be returned but you can’t help but have some pity sometimes.
298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Pacquiao vs Matthysse July 15 2018 on: July 06, 2018, 05:25:09 PM
The Dude is done but i guess he can still sell a fight and make good money from his fame even though he might end up loosing so i think so long as he doesn't see anything wrong in tarnishing his reputation by loosing fights then we should leave him to make his money. It's good business dude!
Even if Senator Manny can still fill arenas, that doesn't mean its not the time to hang up the gloves yet. What Manny's camp should look at is his capacity to fight, can he still fight younger boxers and win. Manny is already a Legend and a future hall of famer. I would rather see him hang up the gloves while he is still on very good shape, than retire because someone knocked him out cold.

Exactly, he's already a legend but maybe he still want to have a fight so he can earn more money and make all the Filipinos proud again. This is a real business now, because even if he lose the money will come to him. I hope this fight will be a clean one not like those previous fight which Manny really won but the result is different.

I don’t think it’s for the money anymore. He’s already rich enough to retire and be able to sustain his family until he dies. I think that boxing is really his passion and it’s the only thing that he knows to do and can do. Even while he’s a senator and living comfortably, he still chooses to continue fighting. I think it’s bad for him and that he should already retire since from the previous fights, it looks like he has not been performing as well as before plus he’s already getting old. As we should all know, these fights are usually manipulated and betters may have been wanting to see new fighters and winners.
299  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-07-05] Bitcoin’s Next Big Battle: Restoring its Reputation on: July 06, 2018, 05:14:53 PM
It’s going to be hard to shake away this kind of association and reputation while there is still no mass adoption for it. People will continue to view bitcoin as shady even if only 1% of btc transactions has been involved with illicit activities. Come to think of it, there are many other forms of investment that are involved with illegal and illicit activities yet people use it more because it is accepted by society. We will yet see big investors coming in once bitcoin has been formally recognized, and reputation will have nothing to do with it.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How can we protect ourselves from scam? on: July 04, 2018, 11:44:06 PM
I think the only way we can protect ourselves from scam and scammer is by doing a lot of investigation and studying both of the team and the project in every aspect! I know that this require a lot of time and certain skills but this is the only way we can protect ourselves right now.
We should create a shared database where to register scam ICO, project, scammer and other suspicious things. This would be a nice idea I think.

While I have no knowledge of any shared database, this forum constantly talks about the recent happenings and news about crypto and possibly ICOs. If there are any victims or those who feel suspicious, one may post about it here in the forum in order to have further discussion. This could help you determine whether the ICO which you are investing in is actually a scam — but this is not an actual guarantee.
