281  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: So was Monarch development the cause for BFL being so slow ordering 65nm parts? on: September 22, 2013, 01:33:34 PM
It doesn't matter what the real reason was/is.

What does matter is that the company's behavior was completely out of line with ethical and just about all regulatory statutes that you can think of.

And, they're still doing it with the Monarch.

Why anybody would still literally GIVE money to BFL is beyond me.

Full disclosure: Yes, I was a nOOb a while back, and gave money to BFL, and I'm still waiting for my Jalepeno order.

Not anymore.

I sent an e-mail and submitted the refund form Sept 11th.

So far, no confirmation, no reply e-mail, nothing. Looks like he's running about 2 weeks behind the refund date, which is really not that surprising.

Pics or youtube video of it hashing, or it's vaporware, and you're pissing money into the wind.

As far as I'm concerned, at least KnC hosted a meet and greet and demoed stuff.

BFL....and Avalon.....? riiiiight.... Roll Eyes

As for the rest, time will tell.

Well, this latest update certainly makes things "interesting", in a most inconvenient way, from a personal perspective.

I have chip orders in batches 1,2, 3, 4 & 5. (fascinating, isn't it?)

I've also paid for assembly for those miners....this does get better.

So...if batches 1 and 2 are shipping, but I've requested a refund (6 days ago)...how exactly is this going to be handled? I've received no e-mail or confirmation...

Personally, I've completely lost faith in the whole Klondike thing. I thought would stick it out, but I'm not optismistic, hence I've requested a refund.

I'm assuming that there aren't enough refunds for batches 1 and 2??

Does this mean I'm going to get "somewhat functional" miners from batches 1 and 2 and a refund from batches 3, 4 and 5? What about my assembly costs??

What a complete clusterfuck.

286  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: WARNING: Only buy 1+ Terahash or more Bitcoin miners hardware on: September 17, 2013, 11:01:26 PM
Well, if the difficulty goes that high, it means coins will be incredibly hard to get.

Which means that the demand will outstrip the supply.

Which means that the price of BTC will skyrocket.

The network is supposed to be self-stabilizing. Time for a real test, I guess.
287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 17, 2013, 09:40:59 PM
I'm not really worried about the order the refunds are processed.  We're talking about a few days max here for that.  Fight over that as you will.  But today is day 6 after an update that promised more frequent updates.  If there isn't an update tomorrow that's a full week of radio silence, after an update that took 9 days and promised more updates.  Come on.  Are there any other talks with Yifu?  What is to be done about the inevitable partial batch?  Gen2 preparation?  I'd like to see some updates.

That is not a bad idea.

288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 16, 2013, 10:49:13 PM
Steamboat, I have emailed you TWICE with no response in 5 days. This is a joke.

You are currently holding thousands of my dollars and I would like a fucking response.

Ditto. Without the f****ing. The wife would get mad....

289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Open-air case for Bitfury miners (pics and link to FS thread in OP): NEW Version on: September 15, 2013, 09:44:58 PM
That looks really nice, especially with the fans. What size fans are those? 140mm?
290  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 15, 2013, 07:09:17 PM
"I promise I'll update more, its unacceptable the amount of communication I've been providing as of late".

Continues to log into bitcointalk and remain silent, ignoring valid questions and does not provide status updates, let alone email replies citing if your refund was accepted or not.

Well, I'm sure that there is quite a number of refunds to process, so I'm not ready to hit the panic button just yet. Clearly, refunds are being processed, with what looks like a 3-4 day lag.

But, it is kind of strange to notice that, as I searched my e-mail outbox for payment details to the various Steamboat group buys, and also looked at the replies, I noticed when looking at the time stamps that when I sent money in, the response was often within 24 hours, and often within 12 hours.

Strange that the reverse isn't true. Or maybe, not so strange...

Food for thought.
291  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitburner Fury - now for sale on: September 15, 2013, 05:01:43 PM
What mining program actually supports these? CGminer?
292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Poll] Burnins BitFury miner on: September 15, 2013, 05:00:40 PM
So does this work with CGminer?

Or is there some custom miner that you have to use?

Thinking about ordering a couple.

If they actually ship when promised, it may even be a first...

295  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs 30 day countdown to the end of September on: September 14, 2013, 06:11:14 PM

16 days and hundreds of days of orders to go.

They now have to ship 20+ days of orders every day. By the end of Next week they will have to ship a month and a half of orders every day.

Getting out from the deep end is a bitch once you've dug yourself a hole.

Seriously this is comical, up to a point. They are just lying sacks of bantha poo at this point.
296  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 14, 2013, 05:25:52 PM

Terrahash said that they were making contact with Steamboat to get information on the 12C daisy chain firmware problem. I am not aware if LD has been able to iron out all bugs, but the update they sent a few days ago alludes to progress on the boards. It's possible that Terrahash and Steamboat could put their heads together and share notes. TH share their info on gettings 16 chips hashing, and Steamboat sharing a fix for the I2C bug. No one is sure what specifically is going on and what time frame it will happen in. Side note, I don't trust Yifu and I think his company is straddling criminal territory. If you put in for a refund, I wouldn't fret about it. Steamboat seems to be a solid guy and he has been fulfilling refund requests as we speak.

Thanks knightlife999,

This whole thing is really irritating. It was such a nice project. Too bad it did not work out.

Yes, I have put in for a refund a few days ago. I'm sure Steamboat is swamped with refund requests.

Personally, I'd rather have had the miners. I've looked at the firmware code, and while my programming experience was a while back, it appears there is a serious problem with the control function which switches on banks. As in, that function is not there, and there isn't a way to keep track of which bank is hashing the 0 bits, and which one is hashing the 1 bits....Bkkcoins used the the same preloading routine per bank of 8 chips, but it needs some sort of supervisory routine.

My guess is that if you tried to daisy chain K16's, you would need yet another higher level function to supervise the chain also.

At least, that is what I can tell from the code. It needs a higher level control structure, which is certainly beyond my limited expertise to fix.

Sadly, I've requested a refund.

Guess the naysayers won the day. Hope they're happy.
297  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 14, 2013, 03:04:41 AM
Steamboat,
I know you are busy with your own stuff but could you find your way to clear up something?

Please confirm or deny the below to the best of our ability and personal knowledge, allot of people are being left in the dark with TerraHash's lack of communication and you might be able to clear things up, thanks.

Zefir's last batches were ordered in late April, and he obtained refunds for 2 of them. Sebastianju has a similar situation. That means that Terrahash should be receiving their chips VERY soon (should be next in line along with Steamboat).

I spoke with Amir on Thursday and he said that they were contacting Steamboat to work out the final issues with the IC2 firmware problem. Steamboat appears to have worked out some of the kinks on his end. Amir has stated on BKK's thread, other than issues with the IC2 daisy chain, their boards are hashing properly.
<snipped..../>
Amir said that they are working long hours to resolve the present situation, and when it is finished, they will move on to the hosted miner offer. It was a brief and positive conversation. He said that they have not yet received an email from Bitsyncom regarding the chips shipping, but expects to get one any day now. That should happen soon, since all late April orders appear to have been shipped as of yesterday.

Well, due to lack of updates, if I had known the fact that they MAY have worked out the firmware problem, then maybe I would not have requested a refund and effectively EATEN my assembly costs.

I'm going to have to agree with some people around here, who I may have previously disagreed with before.

The lack of timely updates is causing people to make uninformed decisions, in order to potentially protect what little they may have left of their "investment".

Steamboat,

I would personally like an update on the following points:

1) How many 10k chip batches worth of refunds have been requested? (I believe Steamboat said he requested a refund from one of his independent orders?)
2) What is the status of the Fusion 16 firmware?
3) Does it hash with 8 chips ? 16 chips?
4) What is the estimated development time to solve said above said problems?
5) Has there been any chip shipment update from Yifu?
6) Has there been any estimate of when refunds will be issued for any refunded batches from point #1?
7) What is the estimated verification time and response time for a refund request from Steamboat (independent of Yifu)?
8 ) Is there any remote possibility of chip shipment any time in the next week, two, or three weeks?

I've requested a chip refund for my orders spread out in Batches 1 thru 5, sent with tx id's, signed message and all that jazz. I have also requested any assembly refunds, and leftover parts shipment.

Then 2 days later, I find out that they "may" have solved firmware problems, or at least they are working on it in a serious way. This was not really alluded to in the last update.

Geee, do you THINK that might have been an important piece of information??

So, you've previously stated that there will be very little assembly cost refunds. Obviously, if somebody requests assembly costs, and then the miners start working, but you do not refund assembly costs, then the persons eating their assembly costs due to requesting refunds have essentially SUBSIDIZED other people's miner assembly, including Steamboat's.

That's essentially fraud, and pretty much bs.

This is NOT the kind of professionalism I was led to believe would be present on this series of group buys.

You can take this how you want, but I'm calling it for what it is.

Lack of pertinent updates is starting to look like borderline fraud.

LogicalUnit....

Dude.  I'm going to give you one piece of advice to help your future profitability and you can either take it or not.

I know the exciting factor of mining is neat, but profit is always more important than excitement.

Wow, if everybody thought as you did, slavery would still be around.

You are a seriously messed up human being. I'm sorry I'm a member of a species that produced you as a genetic byproduct.

I don't got no stinkin' jallies that I ordered...

Fucking BFL.

From what I have seen so far, marto74 is the ONLY one that has a working K16 with all 16 chips. On top of that it seems that he managed to get 450MHz per chip totalling 7.2 GH/s per K16.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=212031.msg3026801#msg3026801

That's the HEX16 design, not the K16 design, from what I've read on that thread. I'm glad somebody has something working.
