I'm guessing the BBB (BeagleBoneBlack) could be a bottleneck.
...

@ 'Orama/KnC: Could sales of a Jupiter with controllerboard minus BBB be an option ?

if the beaglebone was the bottleneck I'm sure he would of said just that...
There's more (or less) to it they're not revealing.  This seems a bit smelly also.

You might want to fix your tag line.. I haven't seen an 3000HG/s (HigaGash?) ASIC miner before! Wink

amazing you're the first to see the typo.  and now that you spelled it out as HigaGash it sounds like XXX porn name  Shocked  Grin
thanks anyway

Neptunes are still very much in the preliminary design phase.

a bit smelly to get this information just one day after the last batch sold out..

I hope they don't go for to much perfection with the Neptunes...  This still is an arms race and difficulty rising exponentially is still a big part of mining.  no..?

bottleneck with controller boards Huh that's the simplest component of the whole miner.  Could you please explain Orama..?  I'm not sure I'm believing this unless you/KNC can explain with more detail.  KNC have pulled miracles in the past with bigger volumes and now there's a bottleneck.  I'm sure another PCB manufacturers that can make it happen if existing manufacturer is busy.

Also. didn't KNC tell us to keep BTC handy for these Jupiters.  What's changed..?  Fear of Neptune refunds..?  by the way they sold out this shouldn't be the case.

Come on, we're all men here.. spill the beans even if some will get upset I'm sure we'll get over it.
285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: January 17, 2014, 08:08:02 AM
And the latest batch is sold out!
Shocked shit that was quicker than people were speculating here.  Shocked Now hopefully we will get an update on production.  fingers crossed...

287  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [IN STOCK!] {CHRISTMAS SALE !} on: January 16, 2014, 07:13:30 PM
Bought a new USB 2.0 hub with a 3.5 amp ac adapter.

Updatede the firmware on both, via this guide http://c-scape.nl/bi-fury/  chose the 90 degree version.

Kind of the same problem on windows. Except this time, one of them is unknown device. They both work fine alone, with a higher speed then before 5gh/s+, but it will still only run one.

And the problem hasnt changede at all in linux, dosnt find any of them, no matter what hub, or how i hotplug them.

Also noticed that the LED's on the pens behave different now. Before the green led was always on, when the device was plugged in. Now when you start it, the red led turns on, then off. And when the pen is in use the green led flashes.

have you tried this method....  (I'm using Windows 7)

First plug the Bi-Fury into a USB port and look in 'Devices & Printers' in the control panel to see if Bi-Fury is there.  If not download 'zadig.exe', run it and select in 'Options' menu to 'show all devices', then select the Bi-Fury in the drop down list and select 'WinUSB' driver and click install.

Then re-check 'Devices & Printers' in the control panel to see if the Bi-Fury has come up, if not reboot PC and check again.  When the Bi-Fury is visible in the 'Devices & Printers' in the control panel then unplug it from USB port and run 'cgminer' with you pool settings and replug (hot plug) the Bi-Fury's one by one (not to quick, let it start hashing and then plug another).

Yeh sorry about not mentioning it earlier, did the zadig thing yesterday, after reading through some forums for a solution.

Used zadig_v2.0.1.162.exe and added winusb driver to them.

After my last post, i got them both to run on Windows 7, without my keyboard being rejected. So either the bigger AC adapter, or firmware helped.

The next problem is to get it running on my Raspberry Pi, since the computer i use for Bi*Fury, as of now, is also my scrypt mining rig. And it has some restarts....

Also, see how it still says No devices detected!

I think it's just a line that sticks on the top of cgminer for some reason.
I've had similar with other lines just staying permanently on top line.
Maybe ckolivas may know more why these lines are sticking on the top.  not that it's any big problem, sometimes happens and sometimes doesn't.

try hitting 'd' for [D]isplay options and then 'z' for [Z]ero statistics to see if clears it.
288  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [IN STOCK!] {CHRISTMAS SALE !} on: January 16, 2014, 06:49:14 PM
some wanted to see how I wired up power supply with 10 port USB 2.0 hubs

5V 30A 150W power supply

connections are self explanatory

Silver 10 port USB hub

soldered power wires directly to PCB

close up of solder connction to PCB

Blue (better quality) 10 port USB hub

again soldered power wires directly to PCB

close up again of blue USB hub

cut outs for wires to come through hub case

if you're not comfortable with soldering then you can buy something like this above with screw terminals
below are couple links of these DC power plugs:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CCTV-Camera-5-5mm-x-2-1-mm-DC-Power-Male-Jack-Plug-Connector-Adapter-/360726637870
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/20pcs-2-1-x-5-5mm-DC-Power-Male-Plug-Jack-Adapter-Connector-for-CCTV-System-/161115013698
use wire that's heavy enough to carry power to hub to prevent high voltage drop.  eg. thick figure 8 (speaker) wire with 24 strands minimum, also known as 24/020 wire.
I used 14AWG wire which is probably over kill but I had this type of wire because I use to tinker with battery powered RC helicopters.

cut red power wire in USB cable that connects from USB hub to PC USB port.
this is to prevent PC USB port trying to power anything connected to USB hub (power isn't required as your using power supply for power)

here's a thread where there's good info on USB hub, etc.. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.0

Note. if you're going to do similar with a USB 3.0 hubs they may be powered with 12V instead of 5V, the same applies but 12V power supply required.

just some KNC info...
here in Melbourne Australia we are going through a heat wave..
I'm surprised that all 3 Jupiters haven't missed a beat and are handling the extreme heat very well.
day                     outside      max Jupiter
                      temp Celsius       temp
13th Monday           34                70
14th Tuesday          43                75
15th Wednesday      43                75
16th Thursday         44                76
17th Tomorrow        44               TBA
EDIT.  the max temps reported above are the rear ASIC boards while the front ones are about 10 degrees Celsius lower.
BTW, I moved my Jupiters from inside my office to the garage where my car lives otherwise they would have roasted my family alive.  Tongue
What does 44C ambient (I assume your garage is even hotter than outside from the Jupiters) do to the hashing level?   Have you lost GH/s?

Yes, ambient temps are slightly higher in garage as it's a tin roof, but haven't measured it yet.
When I had them running in my small office and outside temp was 35C, inside office reach as high as 45C

hashing is never changes from day temp max 44C and night temps (min) can be from 23C to 28C.

jup 1 - 560 GH/s HW errors 0.66%  (560W Cooler Master V850 Gold)
jup 2 - 556 GH/s HW errors 2.0%    (570W Cooler Master V1000 Gold)
jup 3 - 557.5 GH/s HW errors 0.7%  (590W Silver Stone ST1500 Silver)

BTW, I'm running firmware version 0.95 just because most efficient in power consumption.
Tried other newer firmwares and seen no advantages, but uses 10-15% more watts.

Is it me or 65$ for shipping to Canada, for only one unit, is totally ridiculous !!!
The thing is 30g ! Come on !

I think that's just minimum UPS price and package for express shipping.

If you bought 10 it would probably be same price.

294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $1000.00 ATMS comming on: January 15, 2014, 05:09:04 PM
this $1000.00 machine and Lamassu machine (https://lamassu.is/) are not ATM's, they are vending machines.  Therefore Licencing shouldn't be required in most countries.
In Australia we have 2 Lamassu bitcoin vending machines already operating.

Now this is an ATM where you can buy and sell bitcoins https://robocoinkiosk.com/ but they're worth $20,000.00 each.

I have 9 of these running in a 10 port hub (el'cheapo off ebay) and running fine
but I have wired the hub to a 5V 30A power supply (also bought off ebay)

Note. I have cut the (red) power wire in the USB cable that connects from the hub to the PC.  just in case it tried to pull power from it if the power supply fails.

Judging from the picture, its this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/volt-power-supply-enclosed-switch/dp/B00CP3SSKE/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1389784665&sr=8-16&keywords=5v+power+supply

right?

yes that seems to be same type and would work fine.
the only difference I can see is my one has a clear terminal cover that clips down after connecting wires.  otherwise it's same thing.
there's a switch to select input to suit AC 220V or 110V AC.  And also a pot right side of terminals to adjust output volts, but the default setting was fine.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5V-30A-150W-AC-DC-Universal-Regulated-Switching-Power-Supply-/121155376331

I will post a pic soon of how I wired it up.

Just in case anyone is interested in calculating their actual power consumption, you should know that the amount listed by bertmod or the new 0.99.2 firmware does not include all factors like fans or PSU inefficiencies. As you can see, my Jupiter shows 1140w on the Advanced page, but my kill-a-watt meter shows 1300w at the wall. I would recommend multiplying the amount you see on the Advanced tab or from bertmod by 1.15 for a realistic estimate.

what kind of Jupiter are you running?

my Jupiters are drawing from 570W to 590W at the wall all with 0.95 firmware.
BTW. 240v power supplies V1000 cooler Master gold
