Why so slow? Everything bitcoin related is blowing up at the moment.
Somebody hit me with some bear, please! Not enough bears around here -- this makes me worry.  Ok a tiny bit of bear. Isn't all the good news priced in already? No. If you go out into the real world the vast majority of people still really haven't heard of bitcoin, let alone own any. The more big news there is it'll push that many more people towards actually owning bitcoin and participating in the economy. I don't think anyone here besides the trolliest of bears thinks that bitcoin has reached full market saturation. |

Going from 1$ to 100$ isn't even questioned
Man, you really weren't around back then, were you? Going from $5-$10 was questioned by the bears just as loudly as $100-200. A few bears even had "Single digits in April 2013" as a mantra. It's psychology. Do you see how epic 100$ to 200$ seems to a bear? It's a mere double up. 1$ to 10$ is a 900% increase. And I meant we hear nothing now, not then. Ah, gotcha. I agree with you  After a few years of this, you WOULD think bears would get used to the possibility of bitcoin just shooting up obscene percentage points, but they don't. |

On Gox a million USD dump would still only go down just under $200. This would be a normal dump and most likely recovered in an hour or so.

Bitstamp broke 200 USD! When does 300 USD broke? With 10% daily growth it takes 5 days.

The headline should be: Some sucker paid Butterfly Labs money. A million dollars worth of Bitcoin money. Bitcoins they will never see again (if not for shady BFL, for the impossible ROI).

Now just need the real exchanges to break 200.
China doesn't count then? I have never seen any evidence that proves China exists. Have you seen evidence that proves Bitcoin exists? My forum rage is all the evidence I need brotha. I have many feels that is will be the last time we are sub $200 for any significant amount of time. |

It doesn't mean anything as it's not actually approved yet. But when it does get approved, it means institutional investors and firms will have an easy way to throw funds at BTC without actually holding BTC. (Not sure why they'd want that, but hey.)
Of course as more shares are bought, Winklevii will have to purchase additional BTC to be represented, and of course as shares are sold they'd liquidate. Not sure *exactly* how it works, but I think that's the general gist. In the end, purchases of this ETF will (not-quite-directly) contribute to increased demand, and also the opposite.
I'd be curious to get a precise answer on this for my own curiosity. I've heard that the fund won't buy more coins, but just make profit and payout on the increased value of the 100k coins. I've also heard that they will buy more coins as they get more investors. And now with someone else in this thread, apparently they might sell coins? Does anyone actually know? Does this EFT or whatever force them to buy/sell/hold/eat/hump coins or can they do whatever they want with them? |

Absolutely! These people either work in a bank or are FBI shills. Unfortunately, when people don't understand something or if it goes against their "normal" lifestyle - they reject it completely, start foaming at the mouth & then go into a spiralling meltdown while typing expletives on replies to such articles.......  That's actually just as narrow minded a comment as the ones I was mentioning. |

Lost a lot of money by holding, but this crash feels great.....
Man,can't believe 200 is considered a crash nowadays lol. +1 next year $500 will be considered a crash. And the bears will be bragging about how right they are and bitcoin is dead. |
