Also, blockchained.com is down? How else am I supposed to easily see the bids/asks in an easy to read chart format?

All the action seems to have come from the Eurozone today -- all movement was during morning hours in Europe and afternoon in Asia.

During US daylight hours, things seem to have slowed down.

Quite a milestone in China, we breached CNY500. That's quite a chunk of change.

Random theory:  A lot of the new money is coming from Asia and Europe while most of the old Bitcoins were mined and held by Americans. As the new money comes in the old, weak, feeble hands of the Americans dump.

But believe it or not, the brains behind the PayPal Hold could have been the same ones to liberate the people of Cyprus. PayPal's original vision was to avert this type of crisis from shocking depositors of local currencies around the globe.

Well, after waking up to see the price at $87 I thought that maybe, maybe we might have to slow down a bit.  This is an incorrect assumption.

Bids are STILL about 9.5mil USD while asks are below 50k BTC.  These indicators have remained unchanged throughout this burst.

The rally is actually incredibly muted, for the reason that there exists an unbelievable flock of sheep-bears, who don't know math, and are willing to sell after every tick up. If they believe it is a great idea to sell <$100, it may take until next week before we see it. Friday is bank holiday in Europe, so the peak for a week should definitely come tomorrow.

I don't disagree.  It really is strange how much people sell in these high slippage/price rising situations.  Some bears will reply "But you NEED bears and sellers!"  That may be, but it doesn't mean those people are any less dumb.

Oh hey, another ATH
968  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 03:08:11 AM
Post-jump report:  Bids took a very small dip and are still hanging around 9.5mil USD while asks fell and no signs of increase at ~43k BC.

Translation:  The jump was nothin'. Expect more to come.

I don't know where he is, but I bet we could all speculate on where he could be.

Silver is a dead technology.

It's just fun to say.

Now come the ceremonial Dance of the Bears Falling on Swords.

I expect to settle somewhere around 81.
972  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy 1 Bitcoin or Not Buy 1 Bitcoin, thoughts? on: March 27, 2013, 02:26:21 AM
Woops, price is now over $81. Hesitation isn't helping you. Silver might be a good investment, but personally I think the upside potential for BTC is much much better, even at current price.

Yup.

Silver is a dead technology.

Someone call a medic! Bitcoinity is about to a'splode
974  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 02:17:42 AM
bitcoinity showing the $80 wall down.  Onward bulls! Onward!

Also, before I forget.  Tis but a formality, but a formality none the less:  in before Proudhon calling "probably top"

$80 by/on Tuesday seems very likely to me.

I wuz wrong  Cry

Still have another 2 hours of Tuesday on the East Coast of the US.

This is probably the best way to get Grandma's around the world to buy BTC
975  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 02:15:04 AM
Clarkmoody is actually holding up better than bitcoinity thus far.

Bids are holding steady about 9.5mil while asks are just plummeting and heading back to 40K
976  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 02:12:05 AM
I hate it when I can't tell if we're experiencing Gox lag or if there really is just nobody doing anything.
977  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 01:55:42 AM
Seriously, are your attention spans measured in milliseconds Tongue
We hit an ATH of 79.98 today and only 1900 BTC is left below 80.  We're going up, despite these little 250 BTC sells.

Over the last few months I've learned that we bitcoiners have a very short attention span and a shorter memory.

$80 by/on Tuesday seems very likely to me.

I wuz wrong  Cry

Still have another 2 hours of Tuesday on the East Coast of the US.

THERE WE GO
978  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy 1 Bitcoin or Not Buy 1 Bitcoin, thoughts? on: March 27, 2013, 01:38:36 AM
Buy.

I literally just bought 1 bitcoin about an hour ago Cheesy
979  Economy / Economics / Re: The problem of a depreciating currency on: March 27, 2013, 01:38:00 AM
You know, it doesn't make any sense to spend a currency that would be worth more tomorrow. Also it doesn't make any sense to buy an xbox or spend $20 at the movie theater or $5 on a cup of coffee when I could could put that into a number of investment vehicles and increase it's value. It REALLY wouldn't make sense to go spend money you don't have yet on something I don't need and lose 15-20%APY in interest...    but that's what we do. We don't want money, we want stuff and we want it now.

Delayed gratification... We're not very good at it.

This is the smartest answer to the question.  If you aren't sure why people would spend a "depreciating" currency, just reread that above post.  If you still aren't sure, read it again.
980  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 01:31:29 AM
I don't get it, why do these idiots think, "Oh it's going over $80, better sell at $78.8!"

:bearlogic:

I have been asking that same thing since, like, $7.

Oh well, the weak and feeble hands of bears pass on to stronger ones.

$80 by/on Tuesday seems very likely to me.

I wuz wrong  Cry

Don't take it too hard.  It's hard to predict the stupidity of the dumpers.  They fought a lot more of the $77 line than I think anyone would have guessed.
