It seems they gave that guy from the economist a lot more time, but jesbus he just sort of stuttered and couldn't make sense of his own thoughts.  Wish they would have given Trace the last say, but I think it was good for what it was.

Bow before your sort of prophet! I have kind of proven my ability to make vague calls that are within a reasonable margin of error!

Here comes the big show?

It's very possible Cheesy
985  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 12:40:30 AM
Everyone poised for a flash crash that may never come? That seems to mean:

1) Any downward moves will be instantly bought back up

2) Continuing upwards will soon trigger massive panic buying

In short, minimal downside risk, giant upside?

That's how I'm choosing to read it.
986  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: March 27, 2013, 12:33:11 AM
Holy crap.

Bids are creeping towards 10mil USD (WHAT?!) while the only action on the ask side are the walls that go up and down.  The pressure here is immense.

Is it that all these people are pouring fiat into Gox and then just biding their time waiting for the price to dip so they can buy in at a "reasonable" price, as they may be used to doing with other assets? If the price instead marches relentlessly upward toward $100, will these same people start panic buying with their 10mil USD as they sense the train leaving the station?

That's the dream!  The flash crash last Saturday also boosted their expectations of getting a "steal".
987  Economy / Speculation / Re: coinbase overbooked on: March 27, 2013, 12:23:23 AM
Wait until you try to get your BTC out of coinbase and it takes 24-72 hours. It's worse than fiat.

I tried and my BTC showed up instantly.

This.

989  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8 hours on: March 26, 2013, 10:30:37 PM
The games begin within the next 30 minutes.

Oh, upping the time table. Nice.

Hehe, I just bought some on my first try!
991  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2013-03-26 Slashdot Poll: Re: Bitcoin, I most strongly agree with the following on: March 26, 2013, 10:23:40 PM
I wonder if they'll do the same for Litecoin if/when it breaks a dollar.

Buw-hahahhahaha. Ha.

Does anyone else see no trades coming through? Clarkmoody and bitcoinity haven't updated for me in for about 5 mins.

EDIT: As soon as I posted I did see a mighty 0.1 buy come up.

Bitcoin has become a new safe haven for investors similar to the way gold has historically been the favorite refuge of panicked investors during a financial crisis. Bitcoin has become so mainstream that worried Spaniards (many of whom see themselves as potentially the next victims in a financial contagion scenario) are downloading Bitcoin apps to their mobile devices at a rapid pace. There’s even a plan to install the first-ever Bitcoin ATM in Cyprus so individual investors can exchange their “real” currency for Bitcoins without the need for suddenly unreliable bank intermediaries.

Sweet, this will be an explosive coming out for Bitcoin. Please tell us what network to watch so we can all catch the news live!

It'll be live from Kazakhstan

Lucky for me, that's the one channel I get in my bunker!
995  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8 hours on: March 26, 2013, 09:35:55 PM
OP must be living in the 1950s if he thinks something as "big" as this would be kept secret until broadcast on TV.

Ask side experiencing wall erectile dysfunction.

Proving what we expected all along: These bear manipulators are really just suffering from defective penile syndrome.

Dude, you are so busted. I found this archive of your post from earlier today.

Finally got my paycheck into Dwolla. Transferring to MtGox.

I can't wait to finally get some Bitcoin. Any chance for a huge crash later today so I can grab a bunch of coins?

Nice try though. Buy at the current price like the rest of us, it will rise on its own. Bitcoin price is cheap right now.

Detective Elwar, troll specialist.

I'd watch that youtube series.

999  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: When is the last day to Withdraw GOX USD with unverified accounts? - April 10th on: March 26, 2013, 08:48:13 PM
so is that it? will they lock my funds in there....perhaps unless I buy more btc and withdraw as btc?

It's almost like having the ability to withdraw and send money online without the need for government verification or interference is a big selling point of BTC or something.
1000  Economy / Speculation / Re: 8 hours on: March 26, 2013, 06:29:37 PM
looks like this one will happen  Cool http://pastebin.com/Cxd64VtV

You know, I hope this is real. What will inevitably happen after a few of these "planned" shake outs work the ring leader will get everyone to dump....only to buy all their coins leaving these dumpers to buy them back at more than they dumped.  The real fools that will be parted with their money are the ones dumping.

Again, that's assuming this is real which I doubt.
