Network info on the new block explorer is showing the following: This looks to be the same version that I received from the Dev, so at least someone out there also has it and is testing it. Perhaps there have been developments. Perhaps there haven't. Interesting indeed. It's a shame dev can't be bothered to keep us in the loop from times to time, he comes across as an asshole. It won't matter if he does deliver. He did actually reply to one of my messages and say things are still in development. About the client version 0.8.1, there are actually just a few copies of 0.8.1 out there for private beta testing or being part the development team.
Over the past month, I am working purely on the development of torrents implementation on CLI and outsourced other time consuming stuff such as minor updates to the core client and GUI to trusted developer that are working with me. (Hope its ok to share that, but it's kinda fair to keep people updated with at least a vague sense of what is going on) Cool. So, looks like its all on track: Dev was indicating that he didn't want to reveal any work in progress to prevent code being copied.
So
* Video of torrent working * $1m market cap * Closed source * Testing * $2m market cap * Testing * Open source * $5m market cap * Download.com * $100m market cap
In all seriousness, if the devs get this out and can build on the first releases, this project can jump in to the top 10, no problem. Please keep in mind that I am merely just a messenger. If VTR tanks or peaks then it just is what it is. I have no personal relationship with the developer and am merely an investor who was lucky enough to receive a beta version. Because I'm a human I fully respected vtr's wish that I do not share the beta. I felt that everyone here deserved an update, hence why I shared it (I've asked him for permission after the fact). I think if you've been watching VTR as long as I have that the dev doesn't want to hype something that still is in development; I think in terms of bullshit levels he could've put out tons of fake stuff by now to try and pump up the price but hasn't done so. All the updates I have seen (based upon my experience of the private beta) have been realistic, although I have never had access to any actual torrent features. In any case, for full due-diligence I own a fairly significant amount of vtorrent so personally hope it succeeds; but I please ask that you use your own due diligence when investing in anything. This isn't a stab against the dev, just that I am one voice in a very large community of something like 3-5000 cryptocurrencies, so please use your own knowledge to guide your decisions.

Keep in mind that block explorer is still syncing. Would probably take 24h to get a realistic picture of what the top wallets are.

"Info about last 577010 block(s), is not ready yet."
There are 855177 blocks, so what you're seeing isn't even a third of all data out there. I was pretty shocked to check the rich list and not find any of my wallets! haha
There is about a year of data missing (its slowly catching up).
multifaucet.tk basically moved here, the premium features are pretty nice.

I've been just as skeptical as others on here.
I very clearly pointed out that all torrent-related features were missing from the client I was provided and that I only found some interesting references to torrent-related things in some of the source code.
The reason I didn't hand out the client to others is simply that I gave my word that I wouldn't give it out to vtorrent, which I'm not going to go against because I'm not a piece of trash.
It probably still runs fine, just that I have to install a Mac OS X VM to get it running as that is how it was compiled.

The buy book is actually stronger than it was before this sell-off. Read into it what you will.
Stronger in what way? In terms of BTC. Before the sell off it was about 0.9 BTC in total, now it is 1.331 BTC. Whatever that counts for.

Wow someone has upped their holdings to 500k as a result of that sell.
Still the price just fell from 600 down to 100.

So is it RIP vtorrent given he hasn't logged in for an entire week again?

Now would be the opportune time for the vTorrent dev to present himself with a progress report.

One of the interesting things about vTorrent is this:
Expandable Consumption.
To a certain point, competition doesn't matter.
If you ask the average torrent users, they'll probably tell you they have more than one torrent app. So they are happy to consume torrent programs from multiple sources - their consumption of torrent software is expandable.
They will also probably tell you that they watch and listen to the same stuff over and over, to a point. So their consumption of torrent files is also expandable.
There are also a lot of torrent users in high bandwidth, low income areas (such as Romania) where providing some income source towards their upstream would be beneficial.

So vtorrent has kindly let me try out the new wallet (minus torrent features); I've been asked to keep the file private but can share screenshots here. So yes, it does exist. It is functional, it is pretty slick and barring the blockchain completely syncing (it is taking some time) it looks quite nice. There is a BitTorrent section, but it has been deactivated on this particular copy of the program (vtorrent stated that it would be without torrent functionality as this is still in private testing) New features: -multiple windows for trading on bittrex -2FA via Google Authenticator -Key management -HD addresses -Block explorer Regarding the lack of any update on torrent functionality this is what vtorrent said on December 31st, 2014: Since Magnetz scam, I prefer to keep all the details about torrent implement from public until we release our first beta client with torrent implemented. As to when to expect torrent release, I have no information. are you still running the test client? any updates on your testing? Negative. I use Windows as my main OS and don't keep an Apple OS running on any other computer, so to get the test client running I had to install a VM. Since then I can't get the VM to run again. If I did use OS X natively then I assume it'd be running fine still. I did recently try to boot the same VM recently but it unfortunately didn't work. While still keeping my pledge to keep the code/copy of this particular release private, I did look through as much of the source code as possible (through notepad/etc) and found several references to torrent related things which I can't comment on further otherwise I would be reneging upon my pledge to the developer by going against what I promised to the developer. Needless to say there were several references to actual torrent related terms/details. I'm not a 'real' programmer or anything, only an enthusiast, so I can't really make any claims to the validity of the project beyond seeing references to torrents beyond what is shown in the current public client and the fact that I'm not a douchebag and don't go against my word regardless of the project. I honestly don't know where I stand on this particular project. My personal investment is well over $3-4000 USD (which is worth a bit less now), but the dev doesn't seem inspired by making a quick buck and seems devoted towards providing an actual solution, no matter how long it takes. I honestly don't think this kind of tech is suited towards the bitcoin blockchain and works much better as a sidechain. As much as you should take what I say with a grain of salt, I could easily sell up all my participation in this project and in turn make the price reduce by a hundred-fold, however I still have faith in the developer and interest in where this project could transition in the long term. I still have the original file/client as provided by the dev for Mac OS X and I could reinstall said OS when I have enough free time.
