Remember, Wikipedia doesn't supply content. Its content comes from a worldwide community of "editors" and as such is as vulnerable as any other social media to personal opinions and other bullshit.

I think they're well past "personal opinions" and far into paid botting and astroturfing. But I agree that it's still useful in places. As is reddit.

See How BTC Burns.
Who said BTC has no Burning system all the users who forgot their wallets keys all the alredy burned especially wallets from 2010 to 2014.

Sounds like a change address?

The bitcoin software would generate change addresses in batches so he would have to have made a lot of intervening transactions to have lost out like that.

you were correct....coming in at 8.5% surprised quite a few..myself included

There's always a bounce-back. Good that it's not continuing to rise but, as you say, still way too high to be optimistic for the near future.

Pretty sure Adam back alone knows more than 99% of this forum, he's the inventor hashcash. Adam was one of the first two people to receive an email from Satoshi and was cited in the Bitcoin whitepaper.

Just a reminder that Back left Satoshi on read when invited to get involved and only showed interest once Bitcoin had been in the gym awhile and was showing gainz. Also, hashcash went nowhere on its own.

I don't understand how they allow these systems to operate when they are literally less safe than a drunk driver and they would not be able to pass a driving test in the first place.

They are not supposed to be operating unsupervised. Which totally ignores how humans behave.

European countries always dominate the top 10 index, better quality of life.

Whenever you look at the questions used to make such determinations, most of them come down to "is this country implementing Marxist policies?" and are not a direct measure at all. Then when you look at who is commissioning these surveys, well... Be wary of such graphs presented as a fait accompli, especially if they support your biases.

My suspicion is that if you honestly look at happiness levels... they're mostly going to be fairly uniform cause that's just the way people work.

You know why Food is free in Most universes?

All universes share a similar timeline. That means.. that Society has grown so much in its time of progress that it produces more than it consumes. Which means that they fixed the supply of food for whole society and started to focus on more important things like, Exploring its unique universes or something that we have no clue about.

Our world reached this pinnacle too but because of weak people who cannot control their greed and lust for power.. our universe still charges for food. It is still a hospitable place no matter the timeline. It has not grown out of its primitive ways and is sinking more and more into the primitiveness of our old times.

That is why food is free in most universes. Other universes leveled up. They moved on with the times , they started acting their AGE, as should we. And we will !!!

Or maybe just because some dweeb who doesn't want to work for their shit* wrote it that way because it's, you-know, fiction.

*I guess you'd identify with that

289  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple Giveaway - Claiming my funds? on: August 05, 2022, 03:43:24 PM
So I just stumbled across my deets I used for the Ripple giveaway from way back when...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=145506.0

Thing is, their wallet link is now 404

https://ripple.com/client

Anyone know how I can get access to these coins or is this just yet another reason to hate on Ripple?

Sucks. I had a small balance on there.

I don't mind Star Trek Generations but they were utter fools to kill Kirk off it has to be said. Could have still been part of the adventures for some years after that I reckon.
Star Trek went completely off the rails since First Contact. Such a shame.

Then again maybe they saved Shatner quite a bit from NOT being part of the awful Star Trek things we have had to endure since the 90s I guess.

I'm sure they could have found a way to bring him back if it was on the cards. He probably had other things to be doing.

Nope THIS should take priority.

I’ll make wolf-whistling and cat calling illegal, says Liz Truss

Oh, what could possibly go wrong?

Not at all, fundamentally BTC should be going up when printer goes Brrrr and go down when they try to restrict the money emission. Speculators that treat BTC as a "risk-on" asset are the ones pushing it up now, and we all know what they'll do once market turns downward again

Nah. It *should* be going up when the printer goes Brrrr but it should also go up when they try to restrict it because both are instances of fucking with the money supply.

When BTC was around 100-200$, I remember someone sharing private keys at a certain time, and if you were quick enough you could transfer fractions of coins to your own key's address.  I think that event was actually announced on Bitcointalk..

Out of fun I got over 0.1BTC of it.  Some nice few thousand bucks today..

At that time, chain analysis tools to search for "tainted" coins from dark markets were still free to use. ...And of course, it turned out the coins given away were all "tainted"   Cheesy

Indeed, way back in time, I posted a private key in the form of a QR code in the WO thread to celebrate something. Not sure how much was in it. Mine was not tainted, of course.
295  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 24, 2022, 06:17:16 PM
who of you made use of this service back then? Wink
this site has somehow passed me by at that time... Tongue

Sadly, what faucets there were still operating were down to small fractions of bitcoin by the time I became aware.

I'd bet most of the wallets receiving those have been lost.

I'm actually glad Elon sold, the less we have to hear about that clown the better and in the long run his selling will look very foolish. Price still holding up well regardless.

Hope everyone is well on here, haven't been on as much as I'd like in the last few weeks
On the long he will definitely wish he never sold except he has intentions on buying when prices starts pumping again. In one of his tweets on twitter he proposed to resume Bitcoin payment if mining is ~50% sustainable an indication to buy back when prices goes high

So how sustainable is the $, Elon?
297  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 21, 2022, 12:09:40 AM
I do not think it is a lame excuse in the slightest.... I think it is a very pertinent question.... the most important question relating to the twitter business model full stop.  Did they ever cough up solid data on it? thought the deal was contingent on that ?

I do think it's fair to say that there's a good chance that Elon went in knowing he was going to turn up some shit which would sour the deal.
298  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 21, 2022, 12:07:33 AM

Wait, What? That looks like an expenditure sheet. What am I looking at? He bought 1000 less Bitcoin in June 2022? So you're saying this is the sign he was going to sell off his Bitcoin?

It's a balance sheet.
299  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2022, 11:47:10 PM
it also opens the door to Tesla being willing to accept BTC again to replenish their stash now that it's been depleted.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Holding "planet destroying" Bitcoin not compatible with Elon selling poorly QCed cars to people who think they are saving the planet.
300  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 20, 2022, 09:36:40 PM
I'm curious *when* they sold it.
