301  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: SECRET OF TRADING on: July 04, 2018, 11:41:25 PM
In my opinion, the newcomers should trade famous coins and get a little profit. At the first time, the knowledge is better money. You should not focus too much on profit. You should get experience and knowledge as much as possible
why limit yourself? why trade only with top coins?
you need to try different directions and observe the risk management.
Most successful crypto-currency traders have no education. They just kept a part of the coins and made a profit.
Becuase trading is very risky.

However, the top coins does not mean that it is the best coin to be treaded. Checking whether a coin is among one of the top coins would be good for investing. The thing with trading is it would depend on the performance or behaviour in a trade. Even if the coin you are trading is one of the top coins, it would not mean that you would profit nor would it not guarantee that you won’t lose any money.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Philippines as the first country in asia to regulate and accept cryptocurrency.. on: July 04, 2018, 10:14:32 PM
I’m guessing that with these regulations, the amount that one would be able to cash in and cash out would be limited plus there will be taxes for that. Due to AML policies, those illegal practitioners are now caught in some trouble. However, for those who just profit exponentially (I know some Filipinos who are just traders yet are able to gain thousandfold thus making them millionares in a legitimate way but would be suspicious to the AMLC) will now have a hard time. Citizens may find a way around this.
303  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sheldon Adelson - The Gambling emperor featured in Forbes billionaire's list on: July 04, 2018, 10:08:32 PM
This just goes to show how profitable gambling is in the US. Unlike in other countries were bans are a hindrance and religion and morals are in the way, it can be said that the US is a good place to put up a casino. Should this news encourage gamblers who have lost hope from continuously losing their money from playing? Business is business and for Mr. Adelson it looks like he’s more than just winning some games. Gotta admire someone who has sustained a business which has been colored bad and associated to money laundering.
304  Economy / Economics / Re: Investors continue to invest in crypto-currency on: July 04, 2018, 10:01:18 PM
Yes they know the fact about the cryptocurrency, if there is no growth they never turned to the crypto side. Because they know the real fact behind the crypto market. First the price starts to decrease after a long time it starts to increase. Thats only happening now in the market. Long time there is no growth in the market, today the market starts to increase, hope this will continue in future also, so if you have funds just invest right now.
They keep embracing cryptocurrency and investing in it because they know how big profit they may get into this if they invest, there are some other's that saw the success of investing in bitcoin and other cryptos and they continue until now. Yeah, the market is highly volatile and that makes people ride on that situation to make more profit (IMO).

I guess that many have become interested because it’s new and there are many success stories. It’s not surprising to hear that the number of investors for crypto has been increasing since there is plenty of potential in it.

It’s a shame that many have shunned it at first and called it a scam. I guess now they must be regretting so much and are envious of those who were able to invest and have been able to enjoy plenty of profit. Contrary to those who didn’t believe in bitcoin at first, the crypto industry is now booming!
305  Other / Meta / Re: Application For Merit Source [Philippines Local Board] on: July 04, 2018, 09:16:41 PM
Unless all our post at our local section will be at English(since this was our second language) to make it a fair in distributing the merit. By the end of the day we should be able to improve English to be able to communicate not in our local board but in every section in the forum for us to contribute from it.

I don't think it's fair for the distribution of merits that the posts in local section is in English. It's possible that there posts in local that are not in english yet worthy to be merited.

Nasa kamay na ni theymos yan lahat kahit mag disagree pa ung mga DT members. As long as makita nya naman na kailangan talaga ng merit source sa mga local thread (not only in the ph), iga-grant nya yang request.

306  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/02]Over 1,000 ICOs Have Failed in 2018, New Report Claims on: July 04, 2018, 09:16:31 PM
Well, many icos are created by people who only make false promises, when I say false promises I am referring to the fact that those people who create ICO only have ideas and have no concept of practice, you can have idea of creating a production company of bananas, but if you have never made bananas, then you will have a great chance of failing ... and this has happened in the world of ICO. People who have ideas, have no idea of the reality of the real world and after collecting investor money and putting the idea into practice, are faced with the harsh reality of the real world and with that the project fails.

then there are cases of scammers, this ICO market has become the gold mine of many scammers and with the constant loss of money investors are losing, and allied to the fact that governments intervene with very strict regulations, it will be even more difficult for any Ico achieve success.
These cycle cant really be stopped if investors do continue do fill out their bags with their money and repeat the process all over again.Nothing to be surprised of that most of projects in the market do have an unrealistic goals or plans. Some might be achievable but would really require too much work or funding and most of them do still fail even on the early phase. This is why its important to see on how dedicated the team behind on the project you are investing and whitepaper or roadmap should really be realistic.

It can't be really avoided when these ICO investors and project/ICO developers collaborate just to gain profit. These ICOs are made even when there's no actual intention to implement what has been stated in their whitepaper or road map because there's big money in it. What's sad is when actual ICOs (and are not scams) which have potential and the actual intention to facilitate change for the world fails to raise enough funds. This sometimes happen when the team poorly plans or markets their project.

OP has surprising statistics as I wouldn't think that it would be possible to measure such data. With the great number of ICOs, I didn't figure that a great majority would be scams. 81% is significantly large so that would mean if it so happens that the ICO you invested in is successful and legit then you are some lucky guy who found a diamond among rocks.
307  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price jump - Is this a bullish sign? on: July 04, 2018, 09:06:29 PM
I do not see anything bullish yet and the only time I get to see any bullish sign is to see us pull down the $6800 resistance wall with huge volume. The thing anyone should always be careful about in a bearish market is a fake bounce

Sure a fake bounce but also dont ignore confirmation of a break either, sometimes we retract to check the sellers are wrong and price finds support.  Some bias to the upside seems fair here till proven otherwise.

Theres a reasonable view to draw in a channel here or at least a regular trend upwards to measure strength by.   The blue line is momentum of this move since early April which we are above and is showing the rise

It's possible that the price could reach about $7K or make a curve back down even if it has been going upward. With this bearish trend, the price may still go down before going bullish (which has been expected to happen by the end of the year) The recent rise may not be strong enough to indicate a bullish trend just yet. It's just a matter of resistance and support now, which could probably push down to as low as $4.5K to $5K? The pace is good for now as it's heading towards a slow and steady rise.
308  Other / Meta / Re: Application For Merit Source [Philippines Local Board] on: July 04, 2018, 03:28:24 PM
Hello crwth,
Can you please explain me why you are merited some of reply on your thread ? Because of they support you ?
Did you read the thread about Merit & new rank requirements

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

If you become merit source how we expect you will fairly distribute merit after become merit source ?

I expect appropriate  explanation from you. I think this is not good practice for spend your smerit and it will prevent you from become merit source.

Thank you for bringing this up. I'm fully aware of the requirements that theymos has included and all I did was merit those replies that are really good and made me feel more motivated. I don't regret to merit because for me it was an appreciation, that's why it was only one (1). There are a lot of posts that have received one merit and it just means it increased the value of the thread. I'm not going to merit every reply because some are just repeating what everyone said. I know the responsibility of becoming a merit source. It's a good practice to appreciate someone that has given a value more of the application. That is just my thoughts about it.

I don't see anything wrong with how he gave out merits to the replies on this thread. Other than complimenting OP, they have given some insights on the matter of merit sources within the local board and being a merit source. It may not be high quality but I believe that OP has the capability of being a merit source since he is able to point out which posts are constructive as cited in the OP.
309  Economy / Economics / Re: Banking is Dead… Long live Blockchain Banking! on: July 04, 2018, 01:06:54 PM
The banking industry is not so advanced where I come from, so I’m not surprised that not much has been investing on blockhain technology yet or have made any major steps. I don’t think that it will die soon especially since majority of the population in my country is heavily reliant on banks. Especially since most of the elders are probably used to using banks, the emergence of blockchain technology would not be much of a hindrance to the industry.
310  Economy / Economics / Re: [ASK] why is the year getting rich getting richer? on: July 04, 2018, 04:15:16 AM
You know why? It's simply because of a little thing called capitalism. Capitalism is more like an economic merit system. If you work hard, or smart you are actually rewarded for it. That is the great thing about capitalism. But the down side is, if you have the means and resources it gives you an unfair advantage over others.

Yes, and unfortunately this continuous system has made it harder for others to get up the ranks because of their lack of resources. Some are born poor or born rich and depending on what status you’re at would determine how easy life would be for you. It seems that the rich gets richer every year because they have a full arsenal of resources and it’s only within a grasp’s reach. Unlike for those who come from poor backgrounds, they would have to work hard just to get by.
311  Other / Meta / Re: Application For Merit Source [Philippines Local Board] on: July 04, 2018, 02:12:06 AM
Kudos to you bro! I hope you get accepted.

Honestly, I have been hoping that there would be more sMerit sources in the Philippine local board. I know that many Filipinos have a hard time speaking/posting in English and this deprives them of the chance of gaining merits. If you take a look at the merit distribution stats, there are many merits that come from the other local boards but I think the Philippines board is being left behind.

These infographics are definitely meritorious and I believe these would help our fellow Filipino citizens who have a hard time with english. This would help them understand more about the btctalk forum, know more about crypto and be knowledgeable of the red flags of a scam.
312  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Motivates you to Invest in Cryptocurrency? on: July 03, 2018, 11:27:45 PM
I don't care about fiat gains anymore, and it doesn't even feel like a gain. The only thing I care about is shorting at the right moments to buy back. Ending up with more Bitcoins, that's what I consider to be a real gain. Converting Bitcoin to fiat feels like converting Gold to Brass, you don't do that shit unless you plan to buy back lower.
I have the same thoughts for all the times when I cashed out my BTC. Many times in the pst, I have cashed out my BTC into fiat due to need and I feel huge regret right now knowing it’s potential. I also once believed in altcoins as well and even planned on hodling the coins that I had. I wish that from my very first btc, I have kept each and every satoshi because that would make a huge marginal difference. I know now that hodling is the way to go.
313  Economy / Speculation / Re: ICOs are the cause of recent bitcoin fall. on: July 03, 2018, 11:17:39 PM
In my opinion I am beginning to believe that all the funds that were suppose to get into bitcoins for it get to a higher price are diverted to purchase ICOs tokens and this might be the cause of bitcoin fall. If I have bitcoins, and I spot an ICO that has a potential to be the next great coin, I will probably sell my bitcoins for it, and this I think is part of the cause of bitcoin fall. What do you think ?
indeed some people choose to buy tokens at ICO which he thinks can make a profit, but I think bitcoin is down because the hackers and crypto market are taken over by irresponsible people, that's what causes bitcoin down.
And I do not think like you. The only reason that bitcoin prices have dropped recently is that of whales. Because the whales can control the bitcoin price. They are reducing bitcoin prices and they will buy more bitcoins at a lower price

ICOs are not the main cause of bitcoin price fall through they contribute partially to it. I think the main reason why cryptocurrency price keep depreciating is that many news countries are accepting cryptocurrency and trying to come in fully by bringing the price down so they can get it cheep and before booming it again.

The news does not contribute so much to the decline of the bitcoin price anymore. There are negative news appearing almost every day and its not so new to hear such news. Unless the news would be about something big such as a ban or something, then it may have nothing do with it. Were at a bear trend at the moment so its not so surprising for bitcoin price to go down. We have experienced a corrrection from the ATH we had last 2017 and the price may still go down any time this year.
314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ? on: July 03, 2018, 05:08:53 PM
yes, your analysis is correct, that today's media show hatred for the crypto world, they make fake news to make crypto market destroyed, they make fake news to create market panic, and they make fake news to make bitcoin difficult to wake up.

but, whatever they do, will not make crypto existence become weak or dead. because now public attention to the world of crypto continues to increase every day.

I don’t see any reason for the media to have hate for cryptocurrency. First off, I think that they are badly misinformed and are unable to interpret what is actually happening. The media oftentimes exaggerate simple facts and even bends the truth just so the news they inform will become a little bit more interesting. This has led them to make negative news even while these are not so.
315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will esports gambling be explosive in the future like sports gambling? on: July 03, 2018, 05:04:58 PM
The explosion of World Cup gambling industry has  shocked me.

Along with the development of esprots game, will the esports (electronic sports like LOL, Dota, Counter Strike, HearthStone, Call of duty and so on) gambling be huge in the future?

Guys, what's your vision about the esports gambling business? I'm planning to devote myself into this field. Any advice or suggestion?

I think you are slightly behind the curve on this one.  Its already massive, has been for a while.   You can tell theres a fair amount of money available just from the possible prizes for these competitions, if that salary is there then you can have players dedicated to the sport.    More regular games come from proper assembled teams, building the possibility for opportunity on gambling stakes to do well.

I think there already is alot of esports gambling possible and some of the main stream firms have picked up an interest in it also.

Not sure if I have already encountered e-sports gambling across the internet so it can’t be said that it is already as popular. If such practice already exists, then it’s quite possible for the e-gambling industry to prosper in the future. IMO, gambling is not so popular for the generation who engages in these e-sports which you have cited like Counter Strike, Call of Duty etc. and the like but businesses can find a market there.
316  Economy / Speculation / Re: HOLIDAY RUSH on: July 03, 2018, 02:08:33 PM
Some have been saying that the price will go down again come -BER months (October - November) because it is usually during these months that price goes down. Of course, we can’t say for sure because bitcoin has no particular pattern. Even if it has been usual that price has been behaving such a way, we can’t say for sure it would happen again every year. Even if bitcoin had an ATH of over $20K last year, the same could or could not happen by December. It’s likely that many will plan to sell by December because it’s the time for spending... err- I mean giving.
317  Economy / Economics / Re: Can Blockchain technology curb corruption in our financial institutions? on: July 03, 2018, 01:47:07 PM
I’m betting that people will still find a way around it despite the transparency which blockchain technology presents. Even in this day and recent times where technology has allowed us to have more opportunities, corruption is still present. As long as there is still greed, then it is likely that corruption will not be eradicated even with the greatest technologies. A greedy mindy will find ways and go through extreme extents if one has bad intentions. I’d like to think the blockchain technology will help lessen corruption but it may still be present.
318  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to turn a 2+ years old nonEnglish cryptonews site self-sustaining? on: July 03, 2018, 05:21:50 AM
Why not offer paid subscriptions? Or offer to have premium accounts with payment where premium content shall be given. I’m pretty sure that among your readers there are those who use your website for businees or investment purposes and it would be a need for them to read articles from your site regularly. You could lock access of some of your best articles which would need having a premium account for you to view.
319  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you find Success in Gambling? on: July 02, 2018, 04:32:37 PM
There's no success in gambling. You just got lucky in a a very short time and then lose afterwards. I have lost alot many times in gambling and until now I still gamble a few times but i dont bet big amount, it's just like gambling for fun, I dont want to be broke just by losing all my money in gambling.

Being lucky itself means to people being successful. Because not every one can be lucky and if you are lucky then mostly success will be near or with you and you can easily achieve money, fame, name etc. In gambling as well you require the luck with you to be successful in making the bet win.

It is true that you need to be luck to be able to be successful in gambling, but also you need to be smart and have self control so you won't lose, if you make a bet and you lose once and twice in a row you don't need to keep going, there is no need to multiply your bet in order to compensate for you loses, just call it a day and leave, because successful people are not just winners they are also the ones that pick their fights and know when to quit.

I have even met some people who are crazily lucky in gambling and other things where chances of luck are needed such as raffles and lottery. Since gambling is just random and there’s no way or strategy for you to win, it’s really just based on luck. Most of the time, these are the ones who find success in gambling. I’m not as lucky as they are so I don’t usually find success in gambling.
320  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018/07/02] Philippines’ Economic Zone Creating Crypto Regulations on: July 02, 2018, 02:41:28 PM
With over 60 applications, I think that the issuance of only 25 licenses would not suffice. Although this is already big step for the Philippines towards the crypto scene. Baby steps first. Perhaps in the near future after seeing the success that crypto exchanges would bring, it may be realized that more licenses should be issued. Philippines has been neutral for long so this regulation they have made would allow investors and many crypto users in the country to have more opportunities. In fact, the fintech industry have been slowly growing. It’s becoming a trend in the PH now, I think.
