ETH is not viable, the first definition of a blockchain is immutability otherwise it's just a database.

ETC is not viable because it is supported by thieves for thieves.  Any blockchain that allows the easy theft of it currency is doomed because there are a limited number of victims.

Then why are you so worried about it that you cannot resist coming into this forum and posting all of your trash?

Hey stupid, this is the ETH forum and I am here to keep up with ETH not ETC.  I am in the right place.  You have a forum for ETC, even if its only visited by you and your aliases.  But as long as you are here pushing ETC with your various aliases I feel obligated to warn any newcomers that your nonsense is in support of thieves and villains.  So I say again, ETC i s supported by thieves for thieves.

It is very obvious there are posters on this forum that are hell bent on continuing to put Ethereum down anyway possible. They are not here to simple discuss things related to Ethereum. They can easily go to or create their own thread. These posters are going out of their way on purpose. This shows their malice. The arguments they bring up are so ridiculous, implausible, historical contradictory, and without any kind of credibility that they are not worth the time to bother about replying to. This may very well be the continuous co-ordinated effort by very few to try to keep etc alive in all ways possible. They are trying anything and everything.

The simple consideration that they could be trying to build there own community in there own space getting on with their own thing instead of doing this shows the psychology intent behind them and what they are all about.

The way things have and are historically playing out, continually enforces that the hackers and now any affiliates have alot to lose in this, and their whole world will be to extract as much out of this as possible. They are dealing with life changing amounts of money for themselves. Coupled to some peoples want to destroy Ethereum that will only be allayed by them trying to take control of it.

The posters here continuing to post etc related garbage are showing themselves as the cryptoscum that they are and with every post shows the power that ethereum really is and has been and how much of a threat it has been to them. They have inadvertently highlighted to me and many others that they are running scared with every post.

excuse me? why do you expect this thread to be your inheritage ?
ETH and ETC are both offsprings of former Ethereum.
so every ETC suporter has the right to be here just like every ETH suporter has.

ETC and ETH holders didnt create this situation its the devs that did the fork. now this is the outcome. live with it.

and like bitbob said and asked for . if vitalik closes this thread the problem would be solved.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 21, 2016, 08:47:44 AM
If you are a true bitcoiner and support decentralization, you will support ETC, i have bought a lot of ETC and HODL ing them, because ETC does not make mockery of blockchain like that which ETH did, but stays true to blockchain and its immutability :-)

It is very good for the people to support the ETC. They will also support the ETH indirectly as the Ethereum Foundation has a lot of ETC to sell.
for every seller there  is a buyer and visa versa

selling does not hurt ETC
ETC is strong becouse it has a marketcap and to have one you need buy and sell sweety.

and keep in mind there are 80 millions of ETC held by ETH holders. if those people would have wanted ETC to crash all of them would have sold there ETC but they didnt.
why do you think is that so ?

i guess those are the ones that didnt get a chance to vote befor the fork ?

not selling is a statement.
its up to you to interpret it .

ETC is not viable because it is supported by thieves for thieves.  Any blockchain that allows the easy theft of it currency is doomed because there are a limited number of victims.

How is it supported by thieves? I think you meant ethf is supported by thieves. If code is law, why was it rolled back to save investors asses? It's their fault for putting money in to a contract with flawed code.

Also, how the hell does it allow easy theft? It's an actual blockchain. Not an investor database like ethf.

I will let you know the answers to your questions as soon as I get back the ETC that was stolen from my account - twice.

i guess he talks of replay attacks what a pity he does not understand basic rules of  blockchain technique.
the moment his ETH FORK GOD DEVS  decidet to NOT ADRESS the replay in the fork he was on risk with all his ETH.
and after the fork when ETC didnt die this very DEVs refused to solve the problem and said let the users find a solution.

but dont worry ETC devs are working on a save way to solve it.

for ETC and for ETH we are not  greedy we help others out .

Eth is the definition of ponzi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ponzi_scheme and no longer the definition of blockchain https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockchain_(database)

I've benchmarked the Ethereum Network versus ETC Network.

Using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS

Would you care to enlighten us on how you are mining with Ubuntu 16.04 .... or is that 16.04 system just for your wallet?

FOR INFO:::

16.04 and future releases do not have the propriety FGLRX or FGLRX-UPDATES supported any more.... making GPU mining, well, not possible. Good for a GETH wallet though.

15.04 and 15.10 just fell out of active support - works good for GPU mining but -NO- security and maintenance updates - cybersecurity hazard.

14.04 is getting old but still supported till early 2019 - works good for GPU mining and still is getting security and maintenance support.

12.04 Support ended earlier this year - I hated the 11.04 through 13.10 releases, never tried 12.04 for mining.

You never read the post properly?

I not mining on Ubuntu 16.04LTS

I use it too store all the wallet.qts and blockchains for various cryptos. It' a lot faster than using Windows for a wallet.qt

Equally, you can install wine1.8 and run any crypto-coin's windows-qt.exe via that emulator.

Once installed, configure wine1.8 to run as Windows 7 emulator.

Therefore, everyone should have at least one Ubuntu installation for their crypto-coins wallet-qts.
how much space does wine need ?

lol, maybe bitpoop and a few others should meet this anti-fud team for training, if you really want to avoid fud....grow up and lead by example, everyday at least 2-3 posts on other threads from Bitpoop and co doesnt help etc in anyway at all. In fact it just makes etc look like the scammy coin it is.

we'll I can't speak for bitpoop as I'm not him but TBH it's not me causing the issues.  It's you and bitpoop.

So you acting the same way bitpoop then calling him a fudster is fucking insane to me.

The pot calling the kettle black.

maybe if you don't like the way bitpoop is acting, you should just call him out instead of just acting in the same way as him.

That's like saying because someone stole something of yours, it's now ok for you to steal everyone else's stuff that had nothing to do with it.

bitpoop has been called out many times by many others. He just loves to fud ETH thread a few times everyday, so why shouldnt i and others fud his thread?
bitpoop wants etc to be dumped and loves the fud here  Wink

Id like to add, if you guys are so serious about etc, why hasnt even ONE of you asked bitpoop to calm down on the trolling?
because its hurting your investment here.
sweety its not all about investment.

its a social contract that was broken and with ETC its kept alive.

its about banksters vs satoshi

ethereum upto 5TH/s  that difficulty as got to be hurting now.  Any more and they will not be able to mine at a profit. They need a big jump in market price more than we do.  It's only time before the Maths wins over.

We need the diff bomb defused pretty soon and a road map for ETC going forward.  I hope we see some traction really soon on getting that done.  Hopefully before the end of the year.  I am concerned however that our POW method will be turned into ASIC mining only and fairly quickly unless something is figured out.

The bomb will not effect us for a few months yet.  We can code that out without a HF, i believe.  The dev team will not release anything until it has been fully tested.  We don't want to rush and make mistakes.  That's what the foundation do.  Let them rush into unthought out changes and knee jerk reactions.  We have some of the best coders working around the clock in order to get things right, and we will get it right.  The tech matters more than the market.  Without the tech, there is no market.

Right now the biggest hurdle isn't the technical steps to do this, but getting the consensus of a bunch of anarchists! ROFL  I saw the guys in the development slack talking about it, and it sounds like the steps to defuse the bomb is easy.  Deciding what to do in one step instead of 2 sounds like what they are focused on.  So kill two birds with one stone.  I guess I am anxious is all, I want to see that jump as we chart our own course.   Grin

Grin  even the bigest journey started with a first small step  Grin

dear pumpy, sweety.
what do you mean by posts in othere threads ? do you mean "your" most loved playground the "welcome to the beginning"?
where you want all who are not dacore with your view are pushed to leave ?
grow up sweety.
the ones you complain about are ETH holders who  are concerned about the direction the coin takes.

its not ETC against  ETH
it never was
its about clean out the jerks in the ETH leading and bring the coin back to a honorable way.

What about our ETC DAO, is there any news?

There is no news. We are still waiting for the words from the DAO hackers. The fate of the ETC is determined by them.

i dont think its that important

its a satback  but nothing that could kill ETC. i do not understand why so many think the 3.6 mill are such a big problem

the white hat hack was 7.6 mill and did so far not hurt ETC .

and just look at ETC just a month old and there is a strong comuntiy, a dev team, a roadmap, wallets, gosh out of nowhere all this happened.

i am really impressed.

and we need someone for streaming lol

i would have loved to hear the meeting in london

I'll never understand why people always CHOP UP CLICHES from history and then proceed to hammer and smash them into crypto-currencies!

Trivialising the merits of original events e.g. "The Revolutionary War" circa 1776 that founded the great nation of the USA.

That, itself, would never have been amazing in any way, but 6 months into the War - a little known philosopher broke his pledge of neutrality and wrote "Common Sense" and followed it up with "The American Crisis".

This is the only time, as far as I am aware - a philosophy book has been read or been read out to (many people could not read and write back then) almost 100% of a nation's population.

This, in turn, meant the Founding Fathers, were expected too and had to deliver an amazing document: "The Constitution".

Otherwise, there would be nothing noteworthy about the "The Revolutionary War".

Nobody can claim: this applies to ETC!

ETC can, though, can be likened to "The French Revolution" circa 1789 Grin

This was where, a document was drafted called: "Declaration Of The Rights Of Man and Citizens" by the National Assembly of France.

Into this document the National Assembly attempted too write caveats for every self-interest group they wished too promote via compromises and contradictions and paradoxes. In actuality, the "Declaration Of The Rights Of Man and Citizens" was unusable for governance and allowed the citizenry to commit whatever crimes that appealed to them.

People may have noted: the people behind ETC are for some Forks, but are not for all Forks, especially when there are profits to be made from stealing - a very contradictory position Cheesy

Like the "The French Revolution", everyone can expect ETC to descend into internal bouts of feuding and bloodletting, as they try to implement an agenda full of compromises and contradictions and paradoxes that make it, more or less, unusable for a crypto-currency.

315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Only ETC is the real Ethereum on: August 19, 2016, 11:32:32 AM
@charleshoskinson, will that mean ETC will fork first before ETH does to get rid of the difficulty bomb? That would also be a good opportunity to fix the "replay attack" issue between the two chains. Your thoughts?

I am a miner. So it is good for the ETC or ETH to remove the difficulty time bomb. Any one does it first will get miners support.

The miners will just mine the most profitable coin. So if the price of ETH is high and even though ETC changes first, miners will mine ETH.

If the ETC keeps on being an PoW coin, I think the price can be higher as it has the support of the miners' community.
i thought not the price makes a coin profitablefor miners, its the difficulty ? low difficulty high reward ? or i am wrong?

and i thought etc is better there then eth but i am no miner

316  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: August 19, 2016, 11:16:09 AM
It is better for ETC followers to avoid the coin right now and wait for it to go down further. When it has stabilized, then that will be the right time to buy and be confident that the bottom has been reached.
i see that different
i buy now
i bought always when coins  went down
i am sure it will find a bottom soon
and i made profit

never invest what you are not ok to lose

Price is going to hell... I am scared
Don't be scared.  But don't trade on emotion either.  It will come back.  Maybe not today.  Maybe it is a good time to buy?
If it goes to 0.0001 i will still mine it and so will many others.  Chines and Russians love it,  as do the Koreans, as do the British.
It will not go away.  It has too much research potential.

i am not scared

what i did in crypto
i use only money i dont need and dont miss.
a holiday i didnt have time to do and so on
i use then this money to invest
i always buy if prices go down
some say its better if you buy after it found its boton
but i buy even if its still going down
did so with bitcoin and made profit
if i lose it ok. but so far all went well even with ethereum i made my profit

but just what i do

320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH Foundation was basically caught trading stolen coins in exchanges on: August 17, 2016, 01:15:14 PM
I don't understand how Poloniex can decide to freeze funds that were 'stolen'?
They chose to allow ETC, which is a similar situation, surely if they are being laissez-faire, they shouldn't freeze anything!

Do they now sit on these coins, or return then?

I agree with that PoV.
how is it a simular situation ?

The point of view, which I support, is that if you agree with letting block chains and so on run as they are intended to run (ETC, immutability,...), then you shouldn't interfere either with people wanting to exchange coins, and remain neutral.  So indeed, why did Poloniex support ETC, but then turns around and starts judging whether certain coins are "theft" ?  That doesn't make sense.  If you go for immutability and running block chains as intended, you should also not "colour coins" and be picky about what people did to obtain them, right ?

no sorry i think you mess up something.
the blockchain is imutable
exchanges are biz and have to optain the rules of the real world like SEC or LAW.
