301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do escrows offer no fees? on: July 23, 2014, 03:49:39 PM
Do escrows scam people?

They can do but if you use a trusted escrow the odds are reduced as most are very trusted in the community and have been in the community for at least 2 years and have handled over 1000 Bitcoin.

Exactly.

If someone have held hundreds and thousands of bitcoin as escrow before without scamming, would he/she scam my small amount of bitcoin? Probably not. Cheesy

Probably not. But there is of course still a possibility.
302  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats going on with dogecoin value? on: July 23, 2014, 03:47:20 PM
doge is going down ...

Going down? literally nearly gone.
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFO] Ethereum = Scam on: July 23, 2014, 03:41:58 PM
Hate the censorship on coindesk. I agree with ethereum being a scam and have already had many discussions about it on this forum.
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero VS BitcoinDark VS bitsharesTITAN VS Dark VS...... on: July 23, 2014, 03:39:33 PM
Monero wins out of all the current alt coins listed in this thread by far.
305  Other / Off-topic / Re: Let's see if Bitcointalk members are smart on: July 23, 2014, 02:34:51 PM
As soon as I read it I saw it I don't this is a legit measure of intelligence though...more like how much attention you give.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many of you have 24/7 Bitcoin Nodes? on: July 23, 2014, 02:33:10 PM
I want to have one, but I don't know how to have it.

Any help please ?

Search it up on the internet generally people will have to purchase a vps in which they run the bitcoin core with a certain port which allows others to connect.
307  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this exchange legit? on: July 23, 2014, 02:32:09 PM
Honestly I would stay away from them until there are some reviews about them I have never heard of them and I would just use the more established ones.
308  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Selling Bitcoin Faucet Site ALL Included! (hosting, subdomain, and funds) on: July 23, 2014, 02:30:08 PM
How long has it been running and what are the hosting costs? how much funds are already loaded on the site?
309  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Electronic Cigarettes on: July 23, 2014, 02:29:06 PM
What countries do you send too? Is there any restrictions because they could get seized etc like normal cigs.
310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% Attack - Why isn't anything being done about it? on: July 23, 2014, 02:26:13 PM
Ghash is the closest and they have said that they will be reducing the amount of miners if they get closer which they have been doing which I think is good as they own most of the hashing power right now but even if they didn't do that and had 51% it doesn't mean they could do the actual attack there is still some luck that they would need to perform the attack I honestly believe this attack has no threat to Bitcoin at the moment.

Ghash won't do a 51% attack even if they could just because they earn money through bitcoins.
By double spending they would decrease the trust people has in bitcoins and their business won't work anymore.

It's true but they have already made their bucks and if for some reason they lose a lot of their money and or get screwed by someone whats stopping them from going AWOL and attacking Bitcoin?
311  Other / Off-topic / Re: best browser to use? on: July 23, 2014, 02:24:43 PM
Chrome for speed Firefox for security and Lynx or links for simplicity.
312  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: July 23, 2014, 02:23:00 PM
Can I just say that Ethereum isn't really our enemy.

Ethereum cannot offer anonymity, and if they implement something like ring signatures, they will be far less efficient than a native currency such as Monero.

Ethereum is going against a bit of Bitcoin but mostly it's generating it's own market.

Correct me if you think I am wrong, I'm really interested in hearing other peoples thoughts on the matter.

I don't think there's any threat on monero from any alt coin this is a great coin which has been proven to work and has already been established.

314  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin ever reach $1000 dollars again? on: July 23, 2014, 02:19:38 PM
I bet we will reach the 1k soon, it's just a matter of time, no way back unless new alt. coin takes btc place and I doubt this.

It's a shame that we went past 1k and then dropped back down to 600 I think by the end of this year we'll be back up to 1k+
315  Other / Beginners & Help / How many of you have 24/7 Bitcoin Nodes? on: July 23, 2014, 02:18:06 PM
I was just wondering how many have setup nodes yourself and how long you have been running them. Nodes make the Bitcoin environment more secure for anyone who doesn't know.
316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do escrows offer no fees? on: July 23, 2014, 02:11:49 PM
I believe they contribute to the community and want to have a bigger audience for the bitcoin currency.

It's already be discussed most escrows which require no fees at all are doing it for the community such as a community service but that is rare and most do require fees.
317  Other / Off-topic / Re: TOR Network Risk on: July 23, 2014, 02:09:27 PM
Why use TOR, when the right VPN is enough?

What right VPN is that? normally VPM are easier to trace.

Just scroll down and you will see this

Code:
Sponsored by Private Internet Access, a Bitcoin-accepting VPN.

that kind of VPN

And that's more secure that tor? What type of speed am I to expect?

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats going on with dogecoin value? on: July 23, 2014, 02:06:18 PM
will it worth 1 satoshi in the end?

no

it will be worth 0

Well everything will be worth 0 in the end Wink I doubt doge's going away, you gotta expect some lacklustre episodes here and there it's only rational.

It was simply a pump and dump coin which is coming to the end so much hype and now its slowly disappearing.

Actually, most of the alt are pump and dump.

Some I think are trying to not be a pump and dump but then it becomes a pump and dump but I think doge was just so the devs could earn a little money.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] ASAP: super fast, super anonymous ASAPcoin on: July 23, 2014, 02:05:14 PM
ASAPcoin will be launched in an hour!

Surely having a fast confirmation means less security? why should I use your alt coin instead of the thousands of the others.
