Mark should resign if the foundation can't remove him themselves he should see that he is not wanted by the Bitcoin community.

I'm getting a bed made of gold
Not a solid investment not going to be a very confortable bed.

Are you kidding ? Of course it is solid.

Ok maybe solid  Grin Grin Grin Grin but not something which would be a good investment?
1043  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should I join the Bitcoin Foundation on: February 20, 2014, 02:44:34 PM
Oh no, you are but the same. You can just be the "Chief Spokes Person Science Guy" then.

The foundation should be a decenteralised and should not have a owner and everyone should be elected to be part of the Bitcoin foundation by the Bitcoin community.
1044  Other / Off-topic / Re: Can we de-throne the foundation? on: February 20, 2014, 02:43:22 PM
They're not a democratically elected body, nor do they speak for the whole of Bitcoin any way.

they are the leaders of the industry,
they are the one's that set the example,
they are the one who set the tone,
they are bitcoin in corporate flesh

if you want to start a new board it can start today, but unless you are willing to give time and money to take heat from the world your best bet is to work with what you got.

Remember, the foundation isn't paying you, you are playing for the opportunity to serve the foundation and get disrespected on an international lever from everyone with a bitcoin as soon as the value drops, or a board member reveals that he's human.

The overview of the foundation you have given is bad they are not the leaders of the industry actually what industry are you even talking about?

They set the example? Like setting the example that mt gox is the best exchange out there?

They set the tone to what exactly I fail to understand your reason that you haven't provided.

It's a large thread with a lot of replies some are contributing to the petition some are defending: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=465096.0
1046  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are under 18's using Bitcoin? on: February 20, 2014, 02:40:05 PM
Thought as much I don't think they would make a big profit with selling alt coins and converting them into Bitcoin.

When you're under 18 "big profit" has a different meaning than when you have adult revenues (and expenses) Wink

That's a good point that I never actually considered also under a certain age you do not need to pay taxes or as much taxes which in a way they could benefit from I guess.

Is it possible to change the source code, fork the chain, create a new board of members for a new foundation and kick the old foundation to the curb?

From my understanding of bitcoin, this is possible. We would need help from all the major mining pools, but this is possible right?

Does it matter? There's nothing to stop anyone from creating their own Foundation. Just let them do their thing as there's nothing we can do to stop them really.

We could stop supporting them as a community and they will soon realise they can't keep stating they are representing the Bitcoin community.

This we can do, if all the big players started to denounce the foundation then they would lose all credibility.

I think we have reached this stage already most of the Bitcoin community are now showing signs of disliking the Bitcoin foundation and have stopped supoprting them just look at the petition to remove Mark as a Bitcoin foundation member there were a lot of angry people in that thread and how the Bitcoin foundation simply dismissed the petition.

How do we stop supporting them? Who says we support them in the first place?

Take a look at the donations they have recieved for doing nothing every single big company involved with Bitcoin has donated to get their name on their fancy website if that isn't supporting them I don't know what is.

Some members have "Bitcoin foundation member" in their signature because they seem to think that makes them special and higher up than anyone else.

1051  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins to the South Pole! on: February 20, 2014, 02:33:02 PM
No offense but this whole expedition was a complete fail for the bitcoin community and a waste of money.

The flag was flown on his sledge for like a few minutes then taken 2 photos? Who gives a shit, no permanent flag or installation on the south pole to put our mark on forever?

The community sponsored some random dude who didn't care for bitcoin? how about we send someone who gives a shit about monetary freedom. Someone from our community.

V poor media coverage too, not being negative just think its a fail for the community it achieved nothing other than pay off some French dude's debts which he shouldn't have taken in the first place

Good point this wasn't such a success for the Bitcoin community not something remarkable there was no footage of him actually travelling from a certain point so he could of just been there for 5 minutes and planted the flag which is not very good.

They're not a democratically elected body, nor do they speak for the whole of Bitcoin any way.

They claim to be the spokesman for the Bitcoin community which could tarnish our reputation in the future which is not something which I want to happen we need to stop donating to this fundation.

This is crazy, I cant believe these guys are asking us for money. Are they nutttttsoo?

I'd rather give my coins to a scammer looking for a loan with no collateral, a new account with one post and 100% return on my money.

god dam.. someone please stab me in the eye with a pencil.

There should be a petition to remove the foundation all together actually they wouldn't listen to us would they........

They probably wouldn't but the beauty of bitcoin is that we could fork the chain, modify the code and start a new foundation leaving the old one in the dark. We would need help from the major pools but it would be simple to de-throne the foundation.

If I only knew how to code!

Then who would run the new foundation? it would probably turn into a power hungry fundation again.

I'd be down to be the spokes person for bitcoin, I can explain it easily in a few minutes and everyone I explain it to grasps it right away.

think it was suggested in another thread that people should be elected for the Bitcoin foundation instead of someone controlling it like they are now.

I asked a question in the other thread to but here it is:

What would prevent the new foundation from doing the same as the current foundation?

I'm pretty sure that it is also against the law to be using Bitcoin under the age of 18 in some countries?

I keep seeing people claiming to be well under 18 and claiming they have made a decent amount of Bitcoin yet how can they? They can't purchase from any excahnge because you need to be 18 in order to sign a legal contract and buy from any exchange.

So they are lying unless they sell services but they have no experince in most things sorry for the rant but its annoying when people claim to be young and have enough experince to make well over 50 Bitcoin in such a short period of time without buying from a exchange.
