301  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Oct 11 to Nov 11 Sidehack stick pool club. on: October 15, 2015, 02:37:20 AM
What am I missing here? the club has only x spots open, first come, first serve, for only a month? I can understand you can only take care of so many people.

I thought the original idea was everyone runs the sticks with the solo, if block, even split between the total people running sticks (no share counting), so if there is 50 people running 200 sticks the 50 people get 0.5BTC each which would pay back most people sticks (if all 50 people had 4 sticks each, they would profit with 0.1btc)

It has been discussed on previous page but I know it can be tedious to keep track, especially one guy.
It's true more people have a better chance but like notlist3d said the more people the less of a reward.
Kinda like winning the lottery and have 20 winners sharing the pot.  More hash can be donated to push
the chances but as far as a club currently I think it has been discussed by phil to keep it low for now.
As these projects of sidehacks take off the club I'm sure will grow and more will help in tending to the club
needs.

One thing, and it has been mentioned before, is to have multiple teams mining the same pool but differentiated by team names or numbers.  Not sharing the pot if your team wins.

I won a R290 on a Dogecoin pool raffle - it was a "twitch type" setup where everyone in the raffle watched their Streetfighter character battle match after match to win.  Was actually quite fun. Roll Eyes

I think it would be a cool touch for the pod to have a slow pulse led, one that started dim and got brighter (not like Night Rider but similar effect).

Bitmain is unlikely to offer any chips I presume until their U3 is dicontinued.  I feel it died at launch due to batch orders instead of single units but thats due to shipping costs.
Hopefully we hear about some chips by xmas, that would make my day.

It does resemble the S7 quite a bit.  "If they Rend-it don't Spend-it!"

Waiting....waiting for better pricing and Sfards pricing as well.
306  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: October 11, 2015, 02:05:27 PM

but yeah.... LTC difficulty is going up after halving....so there is 'new' stealth equip/chips out there someplace imho ......... we will be the last to know Smiley

You're not factoring in that LTC price jumped a TON shortly before the LTC halfing - I'm pretty sure THAT is what drove some folks to turn lots of older, once-unprofitable miners back on - they're now PROFITABLE again, if only a little.

My suspicion is that the original batch of SF100 units were so poorly designed at the board level that even SFARDS realised they needed to FIX it before they would be able to sell a significant quantity.

I personally own an SFARD and there is no issues with quality of the miner or performance I have had it running 2 months straight never had 1 issue with it. It runs like a champ. I even put my unit n loan to an editor and his review of the internals of the machine should be published soon.
That's at least refreshing to know they run well and do exist.  Now to get them at a reasonable price before too long.  Thank you for lending it for review there has been a veil of mystique about this miner for far too long.

If he could get a hold of next gen chips -- game over for the Big Boys.  That is why I think they don't respond to him about chip requests.
I don't mind though.  He is able to squeeze efficiency out of last gen chips and keep it affordable.  What we all hoped for may finally come true - trading in old hardware for a discount on a new shiny thing.

So on the Pi in linux you can run multiple instances of Cgminer from the terminal?

I think you would need to open up 2 terminal windows and keep them both open all the time?

I found the easiest way (for me so far) is to do both instances of cgminer's in the "/etc/rc.local" file and add just above "exit 0"  2 lines:

cd /home/pi/cgminer-gekko (if thats where you got it and your using cgminer-gekko) (and the next, all 1 line)
screen -dmS sudo ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX._XXXX_k --usb :1 --compac-freq 350 --suggest-diff 19 --widescreen --worktime; screen -dmS sudo ./cgminer -o stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333 -u 1JiWuyX94wrCr7JhkAn7x5qNMCEef1KhqX.Jake36stick --usb :4--compac-freq 350 --suggest-diff 70 --widescreen --worktime;

Using the ";" let's me putty into the Pi from the main computer and use "screen" to check both cgminer-gekko's stats or add backup pools, if you don't use "screen" you can omit ";". Added benefit is if the power goes off, the Pi boots and starts mining as soon as the power is back.
Thank you.  I will give that a shot.  Tired of typing in terminal on my Pi's 5" screen.

Again don't expect them to carry spare parts and if they can repair it they will use parts off of another.  Poor to say the least.  Yoshi finally helped me out of costly loop of repairs but don't count on Bitmain to repair non current miners.

They become corrupt from turning it on/off with the psu too many times.  It's hard on the sd card file system just like your computer which offers the shutdown via the OS.

Yay! More blinkedy blinks! Cheesy
I think I can speak for most that this time around a little preorder whether it be funds or equipment is completely understood.

I took one out for my new hobby.
Antminer/plant heater...... Grin Grin Grin

This is gotta be one of the sexiest mining pictures ever. For sure!  Good I idea though using the heat form the miner to help the plants out.
Mining for a Greener Tomorrow!

I can donate a complete S2 with all boards, I think 1 board has missing (yellow) resistor thingy broken during shipment.
I like the idea, why not?  Keep the creative juices flowing.
F the big companies for releasing 1 product per year and at a premium.
Long live the "Gekko Glee Club"  GGC!
Let me know how soon you want to proceed and I will send the boards.

"Now this is Pod racing!"   How about calling it "G-Pod" or instead of Pod call it "the Puck" why the puck not!

The ones from Bitmain are still available from sellers as well.

3 S1's were the first to heat my house during the winter and the noise wasn't too bad and then S3's.  It almost equaled the cost of my electric wall heaters running most of the day.  I plan to do this again by the end of Oct. or sooner.  Currently building a sound-proof enclosure out of mdf to house a 12u server rack.  Should look similar to Zelek Uthers he posted a ways back.  If it was just me I wouldn't mind the noise but it's hard to convince my boys on my hobby.
The Compac Cube they like though, I guess all is good in moderation.  Too bad we all have the fever and want to push the limits. Cheesy

Yes..  Philipma1957 expanded his operations from the garage to the bedroom. ( with his wifes permission of course!)  Grin

Sigh......  I only have S2  boards to send if wanted.

Yes the Pi setup is the only way to go with these lil guys! Grin  "Currently running @ 300mhz on all 4 in the COMPAC CUBE"
