301  Economy / Economics / Re: strange indicators to know economy is bad on: February 02, 2024, 06:11:47 AM
So basically when I read through your indicators, then I see one thing that explain all those things. People scale down on spending on things that are seen as "luxuries".. the non-essential things that we could afford, before the global economy went sideways.

People are going into survival mode now, because high inflation and lower wages are killing the consumer. The middle class are suffering the most, because they are carrying the majority of the tax burden and they get no support from the government. (Rich people feel the pinch, but they have more leg room to still live a luxurious lifestyle.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Revision of High transaction fee in bitcoin. on: February 02, 2024, 05:42:53 AM
Miner fees are crucial to Bitcoin's future, because it will have to replace the block reward for miners to mine in the future.

The "Halving" will eventually reduce the block reward so much, that it will not be enough to motivate miners to process the transactions.

Yes, the fees are high at this moment, but we know things like  Ordinals are causing congestion on the Blockchain and that congestion, require people to pay higher fees to get their transactions confirmed.

The fast and cheap alternative are the Lightning network for smaller transactions.  Wink (If more people use that, congestion will be reduced)
303  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2024-01-31] Time to end Craig Wright's harrasment campaign against Bitcoin devs on: February 02, 2024, 05:30:40 AM
Finally.  The whole bitcoin.org nonsense was a default judgement was meaningless.  CW needs to put up or shut up.  Given he could easily prove it if he were SN, I think it is pretty obvious that he is not.
Would this really shut him up though, I see CW as the kind of guy that wouldn't budge or even shut up until he gets what he wants, you know like a crybaby spoiled brat. Hopefully if this doesn't stop him totally at the least it will keep him out of the hair of the bitcoin developers because they shouldn't even be involved in all this claim anyway, I mean what do they have to do to prove him that he's Satoshi? If he can't even provide the needed things to prove that he is the one and only Satoshi Nakamoto then there's no point going all this way, it's funny that he's still able to go to this length just to do nothing.

No, there are a method to his madness. People has to understand that Bitcoin developers are the key people in the evolution of the technology. They have a wealth of knowledge and the power to "change" things.

A bully will always targest the biggest guy in the class, because he knows if he can take down the biggest guy, then other people will not go up against him.

CW, has a lot of money and he is using that to intimidate people, but now things has changed... a bigger guy has now entered the fight, with big pockets.  Grin (Can you see that picture, with a new huge guy standing there, and all the other people standing shoulder to shoulder next to him?)
304  Bitcoin / Press / [2024-01-31] Time to end Craig Wright's harrasment campaign against Bitcoin devs on: February 01, 2024, 03:46:07 PM
https://www.coindesk.com/consensus-magazine/2024/01/31/time-to-end-craig-wrights-harassment-campaign-against-bitcoin-devs/

As you might know, CW has been targeting Bitcoin developers for some time now.

It seems that this is going to come to an end now, because the Crypto Open Patent Alliance, or COPA,  has funded a court case to once and for all, prove that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto.

"Next week, starting Feb. 5, this case will finally go to court"

" Despite this brash campaign, Wright has failed repeatedly to produce any authentic documents supporting his claim, even when pressed in litigation. "

Let's see how this goes, because this one are backed by the big guns in the Crypto industry. 😁
305  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Sparrow vs Electrum for desktop on: February 01, 2024, 06:46:38 AM
Has anyone installed the Sparrow wallet with the Tails operating system yet? I know Sparrow are working in other Linux distros like Redhat/Ubuntu/Debian and CentOS, so it should also work with Tails (Persistent volume enabled)

Tails does work on Electrum and even came with it as a default crypto wallet in some versions of it.

I get "permission" problems when I try to use Sparrow with Tails.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who is top bitcoin competitor? on: February 01, 2024, 06:17:08 AM
Yes, the government are Bitcoin's top competition, but not a competitor in the Crypto scene, but more a competitor by protecting their own Fiat currency.

They know that they are in full control of the fiat supply, so they want to protect that power that they have over the money printers. (It is used as a manipulation tool in the global economy)

Bitcoin or anyone else for that matter,  are not stopping anyone from creating any Alt coin... the main thing will be to get  people to buy that new token and to get them to accept the regulation that you applied to it.

Some governments already started to work on their own digital currencies (Govcoins) ....and they might force you to use it, depending on what country you stay in. (China)  Roll Eyes
307  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech Layoffs on: February 01, 2024, 05:59:21 AM
Yea, I think from what I have researched, most layoffs in the 1069 companies that has done this, has to do with a global slowdown in the growth in the IT industry. (They made less profit in the last couple of years)

Companies are spending less on tech and more on the basic operating functions of their business. The rising inflation and the decline in income during the Covid pandemic, has forced them to cut cost on expensive tech upgrades or improvements.
308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: VPN - Differences between countries where gambling is legal and not on: February 01, 2024, 05:45:25 AM
I think some casinos look the other way when you use VPNs, while they make profit from your account, but as soon as you win something big and you want to withdraw it, they suddenly have issues about it. (Account get red flagged)

Most people use VPNs, because they play from restricted countries or they arbitrage in Sport betting and they do not want their accounts to be red flagged.

In most cases, privacy is just an excuse and people gets burnt when they are caught using it.
309  Economy / Gambling / Re: My betting strategies on: February 01, 2024, 05:36:59 AM
OP, you have some very interresting betting strategies there, but do you think clubs will throw matches, when they are top of their league? A lot of these clubs will go for a unbeaten record and might decide not to throw any matches. (It might also be perceived as match fixing)

Yes, they might play some of their weaker players against weaker teams to rest their stronger players, but they will not throw those games. (Tournaments points are valueble, for those instances, where you lose a game or two against the stronger teams)
310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF Future on: February 01, 2024, 05:23:11 AM
As long as investors are making money from ETFs and also the platform where it is hosted on, then it will continue.

You get certain companies that will delist their company from the stock market, because they want to trade privately, so investment options change over time.

So, if ETFs gets less support from the investors, trading platforms might remove it and then replace it with something that gets more income for them.
311  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Know why the exchange wallet are not safe on: January 31, 2024, 06:20:06 AM
Your exchange wallet is actually just a temporary repository for coins to enable you to buy & sell (trade) on exchanges. It is in no way a long-term wallet for Crypto currencies.

Those tokens/coins are actually just a digital entry into a centralized database and not actual coins on the Blockchain. Only coins that are deposited and withdrawn from the exchange are transaction that are reflected on the Blockchain... all other trades that are done are reflected on the internal database of the exchange.

Your coins are stored in a hot and cold wallet, that are 100% controlled by the exchange. (They control the private keys to those coins)

312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What You will do in this situation? on: January 31, 2024, 05:59:47 AM
A lot of Sport enthusiasts are not neccesarily good Sport gamblers. Let's say you are a big Liverpool fan and they are playing other teams, will you bet against your own team?

These guys are very emotionally involved in the teams, so they mostly base their betting decisions on these emotions and that will increase their losses.

You should be free of emotions, when you do Sport betting... you should just consider the facts and the results of your research, when you make the decision to bet on individuals or teams.
313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: January 31, 2024, 05:49:44 AM
It is unfortunately in our nature to find excuses for our actions, when something goes wrong. The thing with gambling is that too many people do not understand the basic concept that a higher percentage of people have to lose for a small percentage of people to win.

They do not understand things like RTP / Variance / house edge and how things like the RNG and client/server seed are working.

So people make up things, based on their own lack of understanding to shift the blame for their lack of knowledge.
314  Economy / Economics / Re: Another war in the Middle East could be dire for the economy on: January 31, 2024, 05:39:31 AM
Over the past few decades, the rise of terrorism around the world and the power and economic competition between developed countries have intensified overall inflation. The way of superpower countries are exercising their power with it, the less developed and developing countries are suffering extremely financially. Those countries suffer from severe inflation. In the past decades, the world has seen several wars and its terrible consequences are known to all.
Oil prices are up due to recent unrest in the Middle East. And oil is one of the tools for the economy of the world.

If this warrior situation is not calm then what is the worst course for the people of the world.
Looking forward to thoughtful feedback. How Bitcoin can help in this case. I think Bitcoin is the strongest currency in the world

Bitcoin cannot help to prevent wars, but it can be used as a payment option to fund projects that will help the innocent victims of these wars.

Unfortunate, it can also be used to bypass "restrictions" and sanctions that are placed on the aggressors to force them to stop these wars. (Russia and SWIFT payments)

Donations towards victims can also not be stopped or stolen by the aggressors.
315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying with Bitcoin. on: January 31, 2024, 05:30:34 AM

So, after reading a thread and realizing that paying with Bitcoin would mean that you'd be paying with future returns, I went on to research the topic of paying for goods and services with Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is decentralized meaning that it can be transferred to anyone without the interference of intermediate/ central authorities. This also implies that buying goods and services would be faster and easier if more people owned and accepted Bitcoin. If Bitcoin was adopted and accepted as a means of exchange in many countries then there would be a huge improvement in various and global economies.
It'll enable more people to access financial services and knowledge, reduce the rate at which bank charges are being paid, values gotten by sellers will increase rapidly, anonymity and many others. Apart from the loss on the buyers's part, Bitcoin has lots of disadvantages which would be challenges and pose lots of unhealthy risks if adopted.

After doing my research, I came to realize that this may probably be influenced by personal choices. Because looking at it thoroughly, some people would pay for items using things like Gold, Land, and other assets. But in the eyes of a money literate, that may be totally wrong.
So, I would love to ask and get this confusion over with. Is it ok for you to purchase items with Bitcoin? If yes or no, please state your reasons so we can all learn from it.

Thank you

I do not think it is 100% up to every individual, if he wants to use Bitcoin as a payment option. It boils down to basic things that needs to be approved by governments to allow individuals to use Bitcoin as legal tender.

Merchants cannot accept  Bitcoin as a payment option, if the government did not approve it as a currency. They can do it, but they will be breaking the law and could face huge fines or even some prison time
316  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project: Sewing machine BITCOIN on: January 30, 2024, 06:19:49 AM
What a cool embroidery artwork you got there! I think many user will be interested to purchased your art if you will post this on the collectible section to help you gather funds for your sewing machine aside from your fund raising. People is not easy to convince for donation since there’s a lot of previous scam that use same method before as @pmalek already mention.

I suggest to do an auction for a cause using your artwork to get funds here instead of asking for donations.  Goodluck!

Thanks!

 Cry Cry Cry Cry

A talented seamstress makes $15-$20 an hour in the US, and my prices reflect that. A similar employee at a factory in China would make pennies.
I can’t compete with sweatshop prices, and I don’t want to.

People expecting big-box prices for handmade goods. And the sad truth is, most of the time those handmade goods are underpriced just to compete with this mindset. These customers don’t see the hours of design, standing in the fabric store deciding between fabrics, emails back and forth if someone wants a custom piece, and the hours of learning and refining the craft. It’s said that it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert on something. Since that first sewing class through today, I have accrued much more than 10,000 hours of sewing. When you buy handmade, you’re not just buying a dress or a purse. You’re buying the entire handmade experience. The next time you’re considering buying a handmade item, remember there’s a woman sitting behind a sewing machine in her basement, surrounded by mountains of fabric and years of experience, putting a piece of her soul into that item, hoping that you will get as much joy from the finished product as she gets from making it, and maybe she can pay some bills too.

The sad thing is, most people could care less about the effort that went into hand crafted items.

You see, with the global economy struggling, people are hunting for cheaper goods, even if it was made in sweatshops.

People do not even care about the quality of the workmanship that goes into a product... as long as it has the popular brand sewn onto it.

Fake brands .... fake people.
317  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 30, 2024, 06:05:58 AM
There's no how we can be a gambler and not have experience winning, though it may comes in category and sometimes it may be seasonal for us as well for having winnings each time we are gambling, also, we have to get this understanding about winning not to be by how being professional we are in gamble or been a novice, we should be gambling under the influence of having fun and nothing attached, I also win occasionally.

The thing is, most gamblers watch paid streamers and they think anyone can win like they do. They only see a clip of the max win and the massive amount that were won, but they do not see the 1000's of dollars that were bet before that to win that huge amount.

Also, most people do not have the same kind of money to bet, like these paid streamers, so they bet until they hit the RTP and average gamblers run out of money before the RTP are hit.
318  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🏈Learn How To Arbitrage and make thousands a month🏈 on: January 30, 2024, 05:52:22 AM
You just have to be very careful, when you are doing this. Some casinos are sharing the same odds providers and I have seen cases where the IP addreses and/or Mac addresses of the devices were matched and the accounts closed  for arbitrage betting.

Casinos also quickly pick up when you are beating the system and they will counter with restrictions on your account (limiting) or they will just lock or block the account, based on the severity of your actions.

This is bad, when they have a VIP ranking system and you reach a high VIP level and then your account gets locked.
319  Economy / Economics / Re: One of the biggest problem in our society is that average person don't have on: January 30, 2024, 05:38:13 AM
Banks can exist, because they make profits from their clients loans and also loaning money that are deposited by their clients. (Take money from X and loan it to Y and add interest)

To protect their loans, they require some kind of security and that is where most exclusion happens. (Most people do not have assets to put up for loans)

The system are not rigged, it just favors the people who are rich. (Example : Higher deposits gets the highest interest on their deposits)

Any business that are profit driven, will have the same business model.... if not, they will go bankrupt.
320  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would the bitcoin price behave during a monetary collapse? on: January 30, 2024, 05:28:56 AM
You have to get your hands on cash to buy bitcoins, but I think people might also barter physical things to get some bitcoins too.

The Bitcoin price might skyrocket, if people are looking for an alternative payment option, but then something has to change for the Blockchain to be less congested. (Mass adoption of the Lightning Network might be one solution)
