Anyone with a full node setup their own db of addresses yet? I'm curious to know what percentage of byteball airdropees have yet to move a single byte...

You can see everything on the explorer.
For example, this is one of the distribution units https://explorer.byteball.org/#umdNrD37FsQw76OaLmvr60KFBrDmpX1ymDeSAukVpic=, scroll to its outputs in the right panel.  You can see that the vast majority of recipients didn't move their coins.

Nobody here who could answer my questions?

I am currently busy with Byteball and have the following unanswered questions. I would be grateful if someone could answer this.

1) What exactly is the use case behind the profiles and attestations? Notarization?

2) The witnesses define the main chain. Does this mean that the main chain is rebuilt when witnesses change?

3) Are newly distributed bytes directly referenced to the genesis block?

4) How many Blackbytes will there be in total? Like Bytes 10^5?

1) Attestations are designed for regulated institutions.  They will likely want to restrict the assets they issue to those users who are attested.  What attestation means can vary by issuer, the most common requirement will likely be KYC.

2) It is not accurate to say that witnesses define the main chain.  The main chain is defined by every full node based on the protocol and the positions of witness-authored units in the recent history.  Only recent history matters, hence the MC is not rebuilt when witnesses change.  See the white paper for details.

3) All bytes descend from the genesis unit.

*Why I Stopped Using Cryptox.pl and You Should Too*

1. It's unreliable. Their website, bitcoin wallet, and Byteball wallet are all flaky.

I needed to sell some bytes for bitcoin one day and my deposit never showed up the entire day. So, essentially my coins were lost when I needed them the most. Of course the price also went down during that time, screwing me more. I contacted @grzem and he was just a total jerk, acting like what happened didn't matter, "and just wait longer" he said.

2. They're greedy. Less than .01 BTC (~$20) is considered dust and will be taken from you if it happens to hit your Cryptox account.

Bitcoin fees are getting crazy and everyone knows it (almost $2 now). So, I was using my Cryptox BTC address as the payout address from the Byteball chatbot exchange. So, when I sold bytes, the BTC would be sent directly to my Cryptox account, and I could buy more bytes. But on the chatbot, you don't control how much someone buys from your order, so small BTC transactions come out occasionally.

This morning I received some hostile emails from Cryptox staff, prolly grzem himself.

I asked for a URL link to their Terms of Service because I could not find it. They sent me a 1 word reply, "Information." Basically, their crappy site doesn't even have URL's so he cannot link me to one. Now I see that if you click Information in the sidebar (never even looked here because I was only interested in Byteball) and then Fees, then look at the chart Other Fees you will finally see something about BTC Deposit Minimum Transfer Amount .01.

Wait, what? Why would this be under Fees???

3. Now there are better, more trustworthy exchanges to trade bytes.

I'm going to switch to Bittrex and Cryptopia.

4. Did I mention Cryptox staff are jerks?

Ain't nobody got time for that.

My experience with cryptox was much better so far.
More than once, I helped them troubleshoot glitches in the wallet - not their fault.  Overall, their performance looks quite good for a combination of new coin and new exchange.  And I'm most grateful to cryptox for being first to believe and list us almost immediately after the launch.

Now you can P2P bet on the results of football matches using smart contracts:

TKT4UESIKTTRALRRLWS4SENSTJX6ODCW is the address of the sports oracle who will post the result of the game.  This oracle is also a witness.

After the result is known, chat with the sports oracle, its pairing code is Ar1O7dGgkkcABYNAbShlY2Pbx6LmUzoyRh6F14vM0vTZ@byteball.org/bb#0000.

Then the backer can unlock the contract if his prediction was correct.  Otherwise, the layer can unlock the contract after the contract expires.

A small guide about composing the contract:
1. Oracle address is TKT4UESIKTTRALRRLWS4SENSTJX6ODCW
2. Data feed name is in the format HOMETEAM_AWAYTEAM_YYYY-MM-DD
3. Remove common abbreviations from the team names such as FC, AS, etc
4. Write team names in upper case
5. Remove spaces from multi-word team names.  Manchester United becomes MANCHESTERUNITED
6. Date of the match is in YYYY-MM-DD format
7. Value of the feed is the name of the winner team formatted according to the same rules, or DRAW

You don't need to tell the bot the date of the match, it will find the most recent game between the two teams within the last 7 days.  When talking with the bot, type the names of the teams as they are commonly known (without FC, AS, etc).

New release 1.8.5 https://github.com/byteball/byteball/releases

* Fixed issues that caused full wallets to crash at certain points while syncing
* Fixed an issue that sometimes caused light wallets to miss transactions
* Fixed file selection in Android 4.4 when restoring from full backup
* When receiving private assets (such as blackbytes), the wallet now automatically detects when the transaction is confirmed

Thanks a lot to community members who helped in finding and investigating the bugs.

Blackbytes showed up only on one device in 1-3 multisig wallet. Why is that?

Edit: After 4 hours showed up on another one, third one is still missing BB.

Make sure they are all updated to the latest version and can chat with each other.
If any of the devices runs a full wallet, it must be synced in order to see the funds.

They are all light, two android, one desktop, same version 1.8.4. Just tried to send all funds from multisig wallet to regular wallet on desktop. Bytes went ok, same balance on all 3 devices. For black bytes, only desktop shows correct balance, android signers show complete crap.

P.S. I am going to delete multisig wallet, create a new one and try to send some black bytes there.

Do they chat with each other?

Distribution of blackbytes is finished too.

Total 54,897.936423608 GBB distributed to linked addresses.
6,339.123816114 GBB added to the community fund.

The 6th round is scheduled for the full moon of June: June 9, 13:10 UTC.

As previously announced, the rules for this round better reward current byte holders:

BTC to bytes: (no change) 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 62.5 MB (0.0625 GB)
BTC to blackbytes: (no change) 1 BTC of proven balance gives you 2.1111 * 62.5 million blackbytes (money supply of blackbytes is 2.1111 times more than that of bytes)
Bytes to bytes: (2x increase) 1 byte on any Byteball address gives you 0.2 new bytes
Bytes to blackbytes: (2x increase) 1 byte on linked Byteball address gives you 0.42222 blackbytes

Cheers from Moscow.

* Full backup is working again in full clients
* Fixed out-of-memory crashes in full clients
* Fixed an issue that significantly slowed down the sync in full clients

Block 465811 is going to be the snapshot block.  We are are waiting a few hours to make sure there are no reorgs, then I'll start distributing bytes tomorrow morning.

It was promised that the distribution formula will change in the future rounds to give more new Bytes to current Byte holders relative to BTC holders.

On June 9 we'll have the 6th round of distribution, and after more than 4 months in the wild and having survived multiple post-distribution dumps, I think now it feels safer than before to participate in the distribution with Bytes, that's why the formula will change in favor of Byte-holders.  Also, I want to accelerate the distribution to minimize the perceived uncertainty connected with undistributed coins.

So, these are the rules for the distribution on June 9 (nothing changes for the today's round):

Is the bot down?  I'm getting the connection closed error

The number of incoming connections was maxed out, I increased it now.  Currently seeing more than 450 simultaneous connections to the default hub alone.  You can also use alternative hubs listed in the OP.

Sorry tonych or anyone else I moved 500M blackbytes from my laptop to the android wallet (both light clients). Now I am trying to send them to a new light wallet on laptop but the android wallet shows me this error:

http://prnt.sc/f5mb1u

Any help on how to solve this?

Are you running the latest version 1.8.2?

Yes 1.8.2 on both win and android.I first moved from pc and it took 10 hours or so to show in the android wallet.I think I had an internet outage or something else while sending from android and in the tx history I can see the bytes spent for the tx fee but bb are still there and if I try to re send them the wallet show the error I posted.

This error happens if you try to use the same keys (same seed) on more than one device.

Hi,

Byteball 1.8.2 crashes on a recently installed Windows 10 64 Pro PC. How can I diagnose what goes wrong?

Thanks,

same problem here^^

Before it crashes, please right click, select "Inspect background page", and PM me the Console logs.

How do you chat with the transition bot if you're on Android? I've converted byteball:A2WMb6JEIrMhxVk+I0gIIW1vmM3ToKoLkNF8TqUV5UvX@byteball.org/bb#0000 to qr code with WolframAlpha and it locked up the app, and then tried just A2WMb6JEIrMhxVk+I0gIIW1vmM3ToKoLkNF8TqUV5UvX qr coded & it's invalid.

It's simple, just open byteball.org in Chrome and click the link to chat with the transition bot, it'll open in Byteball app (which should be already installed).
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 07, 2017, 09:52:56 AM
I have a serious problem using Byteball today.
There are two multidevice wallets. Their balances were the same initially, but now they are not. And the total amount of bytes at all addresses is not equal to the wallet balance. That's true for both wallets. Wallets have just the same list of addresses, but the balance at the same address differs from each other: one wallet shows, say, zero, the other - another sum. Anybody faced this problem? How to solve?

If one of the devices is a full wallet and the other is light, it is a known display issue.  The light wallets don't see the fees you've earned by making previous transactions, while full wallets do see them and show slightly larger balance.  However, the difference is so small, you won't notice it if your balance is displayed in GB (rather than bytes).
