WTF is wrong with you people. There is no sign that the campaign will be managed better (or at all) this time and I don't think anybody can feign ignorance after the well-publicized fiasco. Why are you putting those signatures on?

For me it was a test for a few days.

The UUID field on their page is still disabled; and no responses from support as I imagined it would happen;   I just wanted to see if I could get free BTC from them again;  but it appears not.

No big loss to me.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: June 22, 2019, 11:40:57 PM
It's too bad you didn't stake another address before you changed your password, but eh, water under the bridge now.

How about this scenario:  Stake an address with some funds in it, send the funds to your coinbase address, then send back to your new staked address.  Even if coinbase shuffles your output address if it's all done within a few minutes and it's the same amount minus fees, that's fairly solid evidence it's still you.

ETA: beaten to the punch by iasenko.

Yeah, I will have to try both of those.

I felt the urge to change my password because it was pretty low on entropy;  its solid now.... all the issues on the web with database breaks, microcode bugs, etc...   Just gotta stay safe.

Ill use one of my old vanity addresses; send .005 or something to it; and start it from there.

But this means ill have to get a wallet online;  and that will take a separate machine at my internet hub.  No way can I do it from home;  I use a cellular link with a personal VPN to my hub.  The machines at that hub aren't worth of trying to get a blockchain on it;  (space and other reasons).... so ill have to figure out a gameplan.

This seems doable;  and If I TX myself .001 to 1PHS; Ill see if it stays there just as a test.  If it does;  I can TX a requested amount to secure my newly staked address.

-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

So I did this back when coinbase allowed us peons to sign messages.... but we can no longer do this now.... so I have no way to sign the message ever again.... and no way to do anything in the future to recover my account.  So Ill put this out here now since a few weeks ago i swapped my password to something with a lot more entropy... and at this point i can't think of a way to be able to securely recover my account;  unless I can send funds to that address, and coinbase doesn't push them around between wallets on me before I can spend them on a verification TX to someone like phillipma1957 whom I trust and have done plenty of business with... I need to TX some funds to that address and see what happens.  *note* on blockchain.info, that BTC address is labelled with my username.

Any input on the matter would help.  I'm sure others are in the same boat as I am.
304  Other / Meta / Re: Yobit spam on the forum on: June 22, 2019, 09:31:30 PM
The price of bitcoin has roughly doubled in that time, so it more than evens out.

If you will make enough posts, it is the highest paying campaign, except for chipmixer.

This is the only reason I have stuck with their campaign.    I dont even know if theres a thread to re-sign up or if I am still on the list..... it's all guesswork from this point on....

But then again, that's how its always been with yobit no?
305  Other / Meta / Re: Yobit spam on the forum on: June 22, 2019, 09:23:48 PM
Yup, looks like the yobit signature ban is over. Interestingly though, jerald25 and Quickseller are the only two people i've seen posting with a yobit signature yet. Are they actually getting paid?

No clue, I saw who I presume to be jerald25 with a yobit signature, and decided to investigate if their campaign is still open, and it turns out it is.

Hopefully this time around, they will do a better job of policing their campaign.

So who wants to test to see what happens?  Grin

Seriously, w/o any guidance from above it's going to be interesting to see what happens.

-Dave

Interesting... im gonna try adding my sig back.... but... might end up leaving the campaign if i can find another that better suits me.....   I did notice on their webpage they lowered pay from .0003 to .0002.   Not surprising.

*edit* ill be a guinea pig.    The yobit.net/en/signature page still shows inactive, but I haven't posted anywhere yet since the sig was added, i'm gonna keep an eye on it.   The other real test will be, will the payment wallet ever be topped up?
306  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: June 22, 2019, 06:13:33 AM
Reminds me of the good ol' internet boom (and burst of the bubble).
A broker I worked with told me about his own indicator: when the same story made the front page of the top three US magazines, it was time to sell it! Grin

I don't think we're anywhere near that yet.

BTC at 20000 in 2017   mining with an s-9  made 45 a day -  1400 watts of power

BTC at 9700 in 2019   mining with an s-9 makes 4.40 - power better yet   mining with an m20s it makes 22.34 a day - 3365 watts of power

we are simply not close to 2017

But we are back to s-9s that turn a profit at 14 cent power

yup.. i think we are not near yet...but take a little profit (just a little..) to celebrate the return of bull market and treat yourselves for enduring that bear market Grin

BTC @ 20k$, ETH @500$ and ill be taking a well deserved holiday Cheesy (Canuck bucks)
sadly i fear we will have dumps all the way up as the "normies" cut their losses from high buy ins last bubble there : /

I watched the market as the volumes went by today.....   a LOT of BTC was transacted...

The next few weeks will be curious for sure.. not to mention the last few days.

LTC still going up;  and Im curious at how the rest of the altcoins are going to fare.

let the negative flag be remove now

Added my support.... seems like there's enough evidence to me; and no actual defense by the accused.

Seems that put the flag to active.

You are welcome Qservices.
308  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: June 20, 2019, 09:35:02 PM
sold a small amount of BTC to start buying lows;  sold at 9275 on the rise to the first peak of ~9340....  let's see if I was right.  I have a "panic-sell" buy order placed in the 7K range.   Kind-of a hedge.

I didn't want to transfer cash into coinbase.... every bit of crypto I have held in coinbase was gained at no expense of mine, maybe a little effort.... but for the most part, it's all something i can afford to loose....  So selling that initial amount of BTC out of the bankroll hurts;  knowing the eventual price I believe it will end up as.

In the past;  I have always had urges to sell; and ignored them (good self-control) but each urge would have netted me a LOT of profit.

Chose to obey that urge for once on 0.005;  so not an unsubstantial risk, but not substantial either. (using 10% of what I have on coinbase as liquid....)   I have paper wallets that contain unknown amounts as of this point.   I want that to be a future surprise.

contemplating selling my LTC right now....   not sure though TBH.... price could go wither way;  but I have a feeling whales are gonna try and pounce soon.
309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XMR-stak-JK 2.10.5 Compiled with no devfee (Updated: 2019-6-15) on: June 20, 2019, 06:54:42 AM
Hi JK !
Thanks a ton for this update. As you say, a special vote of thanks to Fireice-UK
A quick question,: What if we put another wallet address instead of 127.0.0.1 ? why does the dev fee go to an ip address and not to a specific wallet? Will any other changes be needed just in case there is any code trickery ?
Thanks
Badhwar

*snip*

its not a wallet address;  its a pool address (donate.xmr-stak.com:xxxx)

Here's a copy/paste from the source I compiled to give you an idea....  they used to have a URL in place of 127.0.0.1.

Since devfee is set to 0%, it should technically never run this code;  but just in case, i changed it so it times out quickly.    I haven't really followed all of the functions in executor.cpp to the point of fully understanding them and their workflow;   maybe I will one day.....

im pretty sure his donate pool doesn't require a username or password and just accepts blind connections.  Makes modifying the source to redirect the donation a bit trickier;  which im not trying to do myself anyways.  researching executor.cpp will teach me more;  but i have no reason to do it as of right now.

I could set them to NULL or blank;  but;  who knows what kind of error that could cause.

Code:
switch(jconf::inst()->GetCurrentCoinSelection().GetDescription(0).GetMiningAlgo())
{
case cryptonight_heavy:
if(dev_tls)
pools.emplace_front(0, "127.0.0.1:8888", "", "", "", 0.0, true, true, "", true);

310  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to power my 500w mining rig with my EV? on: June 18, 2019, 04:03:37 PM
I'm over the whole mining with my EV power question. Seem's to have raised morality concerns.

But now I am curious,

I have a co worker who also has a EV at work and receives free charge everyday and does door dash part time with his car. would he be in the wrong for using the power supplied to his EV car to do another activity which he benefits financially on EV battery that has been charge by the company?  not paying for his own ev battery charge, etc.

There isn't alot of oversight when it comes to the charging stations, if you have a EV, you come up to the parking lot, charge during the shift and leave. The question is does it matter what you do with your EV battery after you leave?

I'm not trying to argue back, I just find the entire thing in a gray area.

morals and legality are two distinctly different concepts.

If you work gives you a free charge everyday as a benefit to employment; its been given to you; as long as that cable charging you is only charging your car to full as per the agreement seems the most rational stance.

If you charge your car on their dime without consent, or have machines hooked up to purposefully siphon more than a full charge;  that is considered the theft part.
311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Socialism is so bad that it allows poor people to live. Horrible true story on: June 18, 2019, 01:37:05 PM
If you will notice I never claimed it was wrong. Also it is considered standard in any research or debate that the one making an argument has the burden of proof of anything they present, which includes the requirement of a reference. There is not even a name of the organization that produced it FFS. Sorry, but I don't just blindly believe pretty graphs. This is a continual pattern with him being unable to source his material. I have no trouble doing research, but as I stated I am not spending my time to prove his argument for him, and him refusing to source, especially as a teacher, is intellectually lazy and would not be acceptable practice in any grade school. Regarding the bold part, sorry that is literally the exact opposite of acceptable practice in any academic setting. This is how people determine fact, not by assuming information is substantiated just because it is presented.

You have been clear that you wont accept it citing: "I am not spending my time to prove his argument for him" as a basis for your stance on the "non-research and bash em for giving input" approach; not everyone in the world is college educated, and most people who come out of college don't have a real "education".  They have a certificate.
So again I will repeat:

You are not out to prove his argument for him, he made his argument.   You are dismissing it out of lazyness.  Plain and simple.  Its clearly in your replies, so own up to it.

I bet if it was a claim that was similarly unsubstantiated that supported your stance; you would be diligent to verify it; had someone said it was false or brushed off what you consider to be truth.  But this paragraph is purely speculation.

See where this is going yet?  Or am I gonna have to hear the same thing repeated again ignoring what I have pointed out more than once?

312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Socialism is so bad that it allows poor people to live. Horrible true story on: June 18, 2019, 08:45:12 AM
As anyone who knows anything about statistics knows, it is very easy to jack with charts and graphs to make them look more impressive than they really are. This chart appears to be one of those cases, but the problem is there is no source, and it is not my job to waste my time researching his point for him. Coins4commies clams to be a teacher, and the fact that he still doesn't know how to source and reference but is "educating" others is quite disturbing.

You wouldn't be researching his point for him;  he made his point.  You would be researching for your own benefit;  not his benefit.   Don't pass the buck off on others... and don't cloud that situation when it's a clear cut as this short paragraph.

This is why I specifically chose the troll I used as my example.   With minimal effort, most of those people can be identified with a basic background in general american history... but most people who read that specific one;  do nothing to verify any of it and speak against it because of their beliefs; and instantly dismiss it's message with no regard to logic and discourse. (in my own experience)

I understand its not easy to research;  but don't put someone down without verifying anything first; you have no basis to prove him wrong (by your own words).  Take the effort to be able talk to someone that way; with substantiating facts that are relevant.

Don't be so quick to dismiss things that are contrary to your beliefs.  They may be fact.  Refusing to accept statement and treating it as if it isn't fact without first having substantiated that stance..  is not a good thing.  It creates chaos.
313  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Qservices scammer kid on: June 18, 2019, 05:14:05 AM
This is rubbish, why cant you guys think a bit, did you ask him what he is trying to do too me as well? i get scammed trusting people to pay me half of my service and after deliver the service they close me up. i ask him to complete my pay if i did not deliver then go a head to do whatever he likes, if i may ask did you guys know his intention to me ? no but you supported him been lousy over 22$ he is such a big fool. my trusted clients still believe me and has trust in my services. you have done your worse next time you guys has to borrow some sense , ask the accuser first before causing or wasting time posting rubbish on peoples post

You have a total of 10 posts, 9 activity as I post this...

Ill point out: your only rebuttal is a vague statement about "trusted clients"?

I see evidence from him and nothing from you.....
An agreement is an agreement;  no amount of talking can change that at this point.

Try to do better to defend yourself.  I am leaning towards siding with the complainant; even before I hear what you have to say further at this point.  But ill give you the benefit of the doubt.

Have this build running on my B250-D8P rig and tested.   LMK if anyone has any issues.

FYI:  delete all .txt files and let it rebuild them again;  there were minor changes and I needed to do this on my personal rig.
316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Socialism is so bad that it allows poor people to live. Horrible true story on: June 18, 2019, 12:58:12 AM
There are kids in 5th grade who know how to source. Apparently neither of you do. That isn't a source, its a picture with ZERO substantiation. Go back to grade school.

It's a graphic with direct informations. Can't you read a graphic?

Sources are needed to check informations, not to understand them.

And it's funny how you talk a lot about my education while not considering the fact that I might, just might, have a good one. In science.

Some times you guys make it so easy its not even worth responding. Its like getting into a boxing match with a baby. If you win so what, you beat up a baby, if you lose you got beat up by a baby. Just because you got a piece of paper from some institution doesn't make you educated. Considering you can't even define a source, I am not going to hold my breath on your "good one, In science." Besides you have already played the Ethos card, I know you are an engineer, and that is somewhat terrifying. Hopefully you are engineering things that won't kill people when they inevitably collapse.

FYI its not hard to take the little bit of effort and research information given to you;   this is what you are supposed to learn in school so you can get that degree you speak of the honest way.

no offense meant, but people playing the ignorant card when it comes to rebuttals;  aren't discussing and are exacerbating the nonsense....

Likened to reading the following list in this photo;  and not accepting the information because there aren't fancy blue links to articles or names listed.

(FYI: I picked this photo specifically as a troll example)
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to power my 500w mining rig with my EV? on: June 18, 2019, 12:51:55 AM
OP;  do the math as per my example above;  you will realize that it will greatly impact your battery life, and you wont get much out of it in the end for what you will be spending in the long run... not to mention making sure that the pack won't also have overheating problems when the vehicle is turned off and having such a heavy power draw.  Some EV's have always ready to work cooling fans on the battery, most only when running/driving or charging, and some use liquid cooling.

Free electricity is free electricity;  no need to start throwing assumptions around the board and trailing off-topic....   Phil's comment pretty much summed it up.
318  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is it possible to power my 500w mining rig with my EV? on: June 17, 2019, 02:40:20 AM
So I'm sure this isn't the most original thought ever but I'm going to ask anyway.

I drive to work everyday with my Chevy spark EV which has a 19kw battery and my work charges my car for free everyday. I only commute within 10 miles so I always have about 85% charge left when I get home.

Is there anyway to power my mining rig with my car during the evening and simply go to work the next day and recharge my car so I can repeat the process and save some energy at my home.

Thanks.

Unless you have permission to do this  from your boss it amounts to a theft.

So in effect:

You are asking is it possible to rob my company?

Yeah you can rob your company.

But it is a crime to do so.

So I won't explain how to do it.

Phil is right;  also note:

a 500W miner;  will suck .5Kw/hr.     figure out how many KWH your battery pack is.... you will see how much time you will get....  (typically you can just subtract 15-25% time for conversion losses as a good estimate for using battery power like you want to)

The amount of battery, and constant current needed will probably be a huge strain on your vehicle battery.... and you will end up paying for it in repair/replacement costs in the future.

The amount of battery I would need to have a 1600W power draw myself;  is pretty substantial to be able to have power for even half a day... that's 19.2KWH for the half day.....

At first I read CNN and got almost shocked immediately.
iphones have a nasty habbit of correcting your URL for you to CNN when trying to go directly to the site when you havent on the device before....   rather annoying as hell.

So;  they may not be leaving?   I really dont know at this point.....   but Google has been taking the reigns from Facebook it seems the more time goes on....

Trying to figure out a better search engine alternative, etc....    In my life, google must go; and the sooner the better....   I dont need more of this shit in my life.   Tis why I use twitch instead of youtube now;  I used to be the opposite.
