Uhm, I've read only negative posts on F1 social media about Sprint Race but honestly, I loved it but they should make it 10 laps and I it should be enough.

Tomorrow race will be enjoyable to watch as we saw Mercedes has the necessary pace to overtake RedBull ,but on the long run we saw that RedBull is getting in comfortable zone and from there is very hard to catch them and also make the overtake.
yeah it was enjoyable but 10 laps is not enough, and in every track it will depend on how long the track is as in Brazil GP 10 laps would equal 7 laps of Silverstone because the Brazilian GP is Shorter that is why they chose third of a standard race because a standard race is 300km and in a 100Km if you use Super soft tires and you don't preserve them well you will struggle in the last couple laps and if they chose Medium other cars with soft will have better advantage.
So it was a well planned Sprint any more laps they would all just put Medium or hard to avoid pitting. Any less wouldn't be such fun either.

Max Verstappen won Hamilton spot from turn 1. didn't expect to see that from the start as recently Verstappen starts were not the fastest.
For the first ever Formula One sprint race my impressions is that i like ut it bring some excitement as in my opinion the start of a race is  one of the most exciting parts of the race and seeing it twice in Grand Prix is great , Now with Verstappen taking pole position at the British Grand Prix and extending his world championship lead by 33 points over Lewis Hamilton, it will be exciting to see what Hamilton is going to to do at the start of the Main race.
Sprint race over, interesting format.
Perez did a horrible mistake and now will start as the last one tomorrow.
Sainz recovered from an accident.

Hamilton did a mistake at the start and lost the poleposition.
Good paste from LeClerc can he aim to for the podim?
Yeah Sainz made a good comeback after he had that touch with Russel.
i think he can catch back at points range tomorrow as for Russel i don't think he can manage to do that and keep his place in top 10 Sainz and Checo will be looking to get back in points.

This is big plus to Man Utd defence looking stronger next season with the signing of Verane partnership between Maguire and Verane will obviously be very solid and formidable with Luke Shaw and Bissaka Manning left and right backs, Fred, Pogba and Fernandez holding their midfield while Rashford and Sancho playing at the flanks while Cavani spearheading their attacks as the main striker a formidable 4:3:3 formation which look potent and sharp a big opportunity for Man Utd for to go for title challenge,  next season will be very competitive and interesting watching how the top team match out each other.
Manchester United are making big moves,News from England says that Man United are making two offers for Varane and Kieran Trippier.
News from Spain says that Real Madrid will not sign a defender even if Varane leaves.
More news form Manchester as Brazilian Alex Telles have been targeted by Inter Milan, to compensate for the departure of Moroccan Achraf Hakimi to PSG.
Alex Telles had previously worn the Inter Milan shirt in the 2015-2016 season on loan.
Inter made the first contact with Manchester United about Telles in the past hours, and the Red Devils will announce their position on the deal in the coming days.

^  ^  Go Vettel!

Points finish for George Russell at 2.25 at Stake.  There could be better lines out there if you shop around tho.  Anyway, Russell could push it a tad more since it’s his home race.  I really thought he’d get them at Austria.  But no...  10th time’s the charm.  Grin

I think fans are  gonna like the sprints more and start to really have some interest in watching the practice sessions.  I kinda tend to avoid watching tbh.

In a track like Silverstone that 2.25 is really low seeing how bad Williams is at full speed and this track is a fast one,a legendary one.The race will be beautiful and I would bet on George Russell outside the points area even though low odds in this track I think Williams don't stand a chance. The only chance is if a lot of incidents happens and a lot of Safety Car are in.I would bet on Lando Norris on the podium again which should have really high odds in this track.

Good call on Norris to be on the podium lean.  He was looking good at FP1 and obv finished ahead of Hamilton.  I think the line for that was 3.8 or something close at Stake.

Anyway Q1 rn.  Anybody watching?
not sure about Norris for Podium the Ferraries seems to be quick in Silverstone, he is now in 6th position after finishing Q3 qualification and he almost didn't get to Q3 finishing 10th in Q2,
I'm surprised to see Russell getting just next to him finishing the Q3 in 8th solid performance after an unimpressive first Free Practice session.
It's interesting to see how Verstappen will do this time as he starting 2nd sandwiched by both Mercedes cars.
Since there is points are in Stake I think we will see Hamilton keeping his Pole position this time Verstappen starts in previous couple races are a bit slow unless he catches up with him since he still have about 30 minutes of pure racing.

The transfer market in Spain is truly on fire, with all the lights on Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. As we anticipated yesterday here, it seems done for Messi's contract renewal. This was confirmed by Joan Laporta, the blaugrana president, saying that the negotiations are going well. There is a principle of agreement between the club and Lionel, who will reduce his salary and renew for the next 5 years. With the number one priority removed, there has also been an acceleration in the negotiation related to the Saul-Griezmann exchange with Atlético. Barça, by letting him go, would get rid of a very expensive salary, which would favor the renewal of Messi. There has also been talk of other players to be included in the negotiation, such as Lodi or Hermoso of Atlético, to compensate for the value of Griezmann, but for the moment there is still a gap to cover.

Last season Suarez was Barca's gift to Atletico he was critical for lifting Laliga and this season it seems that Griezmann (apparently Barcelona financial situation have pushed them to sacrifice couple players so they can keep Messi ) will be the gift  for Atletico Madrid side they are  quietly and intelligently increases their strength, decisiveness, depth, choices and suffering increase in the poles of the league and offensive options.
At the moment, I do not think that Atletico will wait this long again to win another league title.

308  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 15, 2021, 09:54:09 PM

According to Transfermarkt, there is a 68% probability for Varane to be signed by Manchester Utd. Real Madrid should reach an agreement with them if they are not able to extend his contract. Otherwise, he's going to be free agent in one year and Real Madrid will be in a big loss. But it looks like Varane really wants to go to Manchester Utd now so I believe this deal will be done soon.
ManU got Real Madrid permission lately to negotiate with Varane. The player himself is desperate to leave los blancos which risks to see him leaving next season for free. 60m or 0m after 1 year? I think it is a matter of time only. I read also that Chelsea is interested on him but I don't think he is willing to go there, at least I didn't read anything about Chelsea previously.
68% is not as high as people may imagine. I have seen Ramos going to qatar with 61% chance at the start of the off-season, dude ended up in PSG which is a team trying to get UCL this year, think of the difference, from having 61% chance to go to Qatar and ending your career there to playing for a team who wants to win UCL, that is how much transfermarkt can get wrong.

I believe that there is a good chance Varane will leave Real madrid either this year or next year that is for sure there is zero doubt in my mind, there is no turning after this point, however I also think that there is a chance we could end up seeing Real Madrid keeping him for one year and just sending him for free, why do that? Because they may believe that they could change his decision and take the risk, maybe they will convince him to sign another contract? I doubt that, but they may try it out.
Varane is eager to leave Real Madrid and Manchester United is currently the only team in contact with him and they are negotiating with Madrid over him that's why it says 68% of him joining because there is no other major parties want to join and try to sign him.
And it's belleived that personal terms have been reached so .
It is will only be a matter of the transfer fee that Real Madrid will be accepting to let him go, they already lost Ramos and now they are not going to let him off easily so if they do not like the offer they are not going to accept it.

Leicester City have announced the signing of left back Ryan Bertrand on a free two-year deal following his departure from Southampton.
Bertrand spent 7 seasons with Southampton, during which he participated in 240 matches.

A new development regarding the future of Kieran Trippier.
He is still receiving great interest from Manchester United during the current summer. According to The Sun, Trippier wants to return to the Premier League, and will inform Atletico Madrid officials of his desire to leave this summer.
Atletico Madrid had previously rejected an offer from Manchester United this summer regarding Trippier, but the situation has now changed following the request of the English player. And the British newspaper pointed out that Atletico Madrid is ready to give up Kieran Trippier, if he receives an offer of 30 million pounds.

If they decide to sell Haaland, I'm positive they can get a much better player as part of the deal than Abraham. It would be really dangerous for Dortmund to count on Abraham as their 1st attacking option so in that case they'd either have to bring in an additional striker or try to work out a swap deal with another club.

These player swap deals rarely become reality, they are often simply media speculations. If Haaland leaves, it will probably be a straight cash deal.
There was strong news about Chelsea's desire to sign Haaland, in the current summer Mercano, which worried Dortmund fans, who wanted the first-team star to continue for at least another season. But Dortmund already sold Sancho this summer I don't think that they are obliged to sell Haaland.
It's true that Haaland has a release clause in his contract, worth 75 million euros, but it will not be activated until next summer. So he could be available next summer for less money but I don't think that it's going to be a big matter for them.

Exactly, Silverstone is actually a high speed track and also think that exactly here the deficits of bad aerodynamics or cars with a weak engine come to light. I also think that Russell can not compensate for the first deficit (aerodynamics).

Would me there also not dare to bet that Russell comes in the points, the odds are 2.25 that he comes in the points?
yeah unless some major players do not finish the race the chances for Russel finishing in points are very slim.we have like 6 drivers that almost always guarantees points every race that's the two Mercedes and two RedBulls and Lando and one of the Ferraries.
That leaves 4 spots to fight on between a lot of good drivers Aston Martin and Alphatauri cars are still far better cars then Williams even Alpine are doing much better so unless there is a miracle Russel will be finishing near top 10 it's better to wait and see how is going to do in qualification first.
312  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: July 14, 2021, 12:47:39 PM
Barcelona will have to sell or rent a couple of players to lower their salary costs, otherwise Messi and the other players will not be able to sign. Most likely, either Griezmann or Dembele will have to look for another team, and Coutinho will also be put up for sale.

Dembele will not sell by Barcelona now. Barcelona could sell Griezmann and Coutinho. If Dembele is on the team, he will be able to serve Barcelona for many years. But Griezmann is now 30 years old. I don't think he will be able to hold the form for very long. Coutinho, on the other hand, has not been able to perform very well in the Barcelona team. He could not adapt to the rest of the other players.
I'm agree with you. Although, Grizman is a good player. But now he is old. At this moment, Barcelona needs some young talent. Because of, Messi will leave Barcelona in the next 1 or 2 years, Barcelona will have to make a replacement for Messi. So now Barcelona will keep Dembele in the team.
Sport newspaper confirms: Lionel Messi agreed with Barcelona on an initial 5-year contract, contrary to all expectations, and reduced his salary by 50%.
If this is news is legit means that Messi still want to be a Barcelona player as if he still wanted to earn more money he could have joined Man City they are in good shape financially and they could given him the full salary that he was earning with Barcelona but I don't think that they would given him 5year contract I think that they would given 3 years as he is now 34 years old and and after 5 years he would be nearing 40 years mark a most of players after 36 they retire we know Messi is an exceptional player so he will manage to stay in shape to 38-39 yo.
313  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: July 14, 2021, 10:08:59 AM
Manchester United need to find a better central defender who has better pace than Linderlof. Then their squad will look more competitive and more balanced between attacking and defensive capability.

That's why Man United is very keen to chase Varane right now and also interested in signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla. Of course, to be able to bring in one of these players, Man United had to prepare a lot of funds because both players will definitely be released at a high price.

Reportedly, both Varane and Jules Kounde are interested in playing at Man United, so Man United will soon get a new defender if the deal has been reached.

yeah It looks like Varane is close to join Man United there have been talks that only €4M is the difference between what United offering for Real Madrid and what they are demanding for him.
It's belleived that Real Madrid still wants €50million for him it's still a big number as they could risk losing him for free next season if a deal didn't fall through, that's why they will be making some compromises as they allowed Man United to contact him personally for his personal terms.
314  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: BitcoinTalk's UEFA Euro 2021 Pool Sign Up Thread 0.001 in Bitcoin to join on: July 14, 2021, 10:00:04 AM
It  seems a bit unfair I only missed the opening gameweek for the Euro between Italy and Turkey but no point didn't register in the prediction for the other groups I had 16 correct predictions in groups stages if you scrap the 2 correct one from the first group stage for missing the first game I would have been left with 14correct predictions.
And I had 21 points from the elimination stages.
So 14*3+ 21 = 63 points.
Also joining late I was in a rush when I made the first prediction on Superbru Italy-Turkey I thought I had 2-1 for italy but I had a intentional mistake and put 2-1 for Turkey. Lost precious 1 point if I didn't make that mistake I would had 52.5points like the other guys.

For the next EPL pool I will make sure to get in early.
Plz Hilariousandco post about the next pool here so we don't have trouble looking for it.
315  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA EURO 2020 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Finals in June 2021! on: July 13, 2021, 02:11:00 PM
The European Football Association (UEFA) chose today, Tuesday, 5 players from Italy, the winner of the title, and 3 players from England, the runner-up, in the ideal squad for the European Championship "Euro 2020".

The ideal Euro formation was as follows:
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Donnarumma (Italy).
Defenders: Maguire(England), Kyle Walker (England),Bonucci (Italy),Spinazzola (Italy).
Midfield: Pedri (Spain), Georgino (Italy), Höbberg(Denmark).
Forwards: Chiesa (Italy), Raheem Sterling (England), Lukaku (Belgium).

Of course, for those who ask about the reason of Lukaku’s presence instead of Ronaldo in the squad, the answer is clear.. Ronaldo was crowned top scorer with five goals he scored, but three of them came from penalty kicks.
316  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 13, 2021, 10:17:30 AM
There isnt that many top clubs out there that could offer him a huge paycheck . Even if he is now a free agent, it doesnt mean that clubs will be able to offer him like lower than 50% of any amount that he received in Barcelona. Besides that, PSG seems to be interested with Messi but  Messi seems reluctant to move to another league.
The probable factor for the huge wages could be due to the taxation laws in Spain. I don't know much about taxation in other countries of Europe, but I read somewhere that In Spain, the salary taxes can go as high as 50% which can have an impact on the final wage of the player, so I guess that's where the problem to renew the contract at a lower salary comes in.

But that aside, I think Pep would also love to work with Messi again and Manchester City just let Aguero go, so I think they can afford him. PSG and Manchester City. Those are the two clubs I can also think of right now that can make the move.
I can't see PSG sign with him, I think that they already maxed out their wage cap they already have players like Neymar and Mbappe that earn large amounts weekly and for previous season the total wages for PSG were €236M and with year additions like Ramos Donnarumma Wijnaldum and Hakimi that number would have risen higher compared to Man City last year bill players wages that's close to €175M so It's considered very high wages when you look at Man City who definitely have better resources of income.
So it will be either Barcelona somehow will be able to offer him a contract and he is willing to continue his journey with them to the end no matter how lesser then he used to take or just look at Man City if he still wants to get the best paycheck.

We are only 1 week away from the 1st qualify sprint in the history of Formula 1.
It will be next Saturday and as you may know, it is not with the purpose of attracting young people to the sport since as we know the young generation is a lost cause for the level of attention.

It will be a race of 17 laps in England, Silverstone.

I am also curious about the new qualifying and sprint race format, I can not quite classify it yet but I will look at it once without prejudice.

Silverstone has always been a good track for Mercedes in recent years, what do you think, can Mercedes fight back against RedBull at Silverstone?

yeah this new format is going to get more attention other then the usual as most viewers will only watch the qualifying session and raceday and only F1 die hard fans watch the free practice sessions, this new format going to get us hooked to watch the qualifying on Friday and see how teams act in a short period of time as they only have 1hour from FP1 to set the car for the Qualifiers, then on Saturday we will have the Sprint race and it can be seen as a an extension of the normal race because if someone doesn't do well in the qualifying he still have 100Km to make some gains in the Sprint race before the actual 300Km raceday on Sunday.

Official De Paul to Madrid.
Great player amazing prize, only 35.

...

indeed a great player who can now prove his skills with the spanish champion and in the upcoming champions league - he signed a 5-year contract with atletico

Quote
The deal has been in the works for some time and with the conclusion of the Copa América is now concluded. South America champion Rodrigo de Paul leaves Udinese Calcio after five years and joins Atlético Madrid. The 27-year-old signed a contract that will keep him at the Spanish champions until 2026. The transfer fee is €35 million, just below the Argentine's market value of €38 million.
https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo-de-paul-from-udinese-to-atletico-madrid-as-expensive-as-morata/view/news/389134
Atletico Madrid's management is one of the best in the world in how to build and maintain teams, after renewing Simeone's contract and giving him a lot of psychological support and full satisfaction with what he offers to the team.
De Paul going to Atletico for only 35 euros! It is a coup and a terrifying gift for Simeone, who loves this type of fighting player.
It can be said that this signing is better than any deal made by Real Madrid and Barcelona until the moment. About a week ago, the team signed the young Brazilian Marcos Paulo to replace Vitolo and will most likely have to sell Saul if the offer meets the club's request to make way for De Paul,
An impressive depth they got in their squad next season, knowing that it did not stop here and the deals Not finished yet.

Looking forward to more of these pools, there will be a month until we get leagues starting again so plenty of time to organise new pools.

Yep, it was a mistake to give so much space to the Italians. I read somewhere that Kane didn't have a single touch on the ball in the Italy's box and that he failed to have a shot on goal only the 2nd time in his international career.

It was not just Kane though, all England's attacking players had a really bad game yesterday. Sometimes it's hard to get back into the offensive groove if you defend too long, and England did that after an early goal. When they conceded, they simply could not jump into an offensive rhythm again.
I blame Southgate for that. You have guys like Rashford and Sancho on the bench. You can give them at least 2nd extra time to stretch the legs for sure. I was waiting for them to come on and rain hell on tired Italy defense but never happened. If nothing else I am sure they would have had more belief when taking penalties. There is nothing worse in football then taking penalty after not playing, at least for me, and my games did not have much of a stress factor.

Yup..  We exactly have the same thoughts.  But to Southgate’s credit, he did say in one interview that it was on him.  But still, the damage is done.  Poor Saka.  I feel for him the most.  He’s too young to be placed in a tough spot like that.

Anyway been hearing some news swirling around of racial abuse cos those poor guys missed their pens.  That’s just sad.
England scored the goal in the second minute, and was completely absent until the penalty shootoutcame in, to the extent that Kane did not touch the ball inside the Italian penalty area for 120 minutes!
Southgate made some mistakes that made his team's mission difficult, and made the Italians take control of the game, far from resolving the final by penalty shootout.
And making the subs a minute before the Penaly Shootout didn't go for his favore he should tried to score in extra time  as his opponent had better experience when it comes to penalties.
