301  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm mining for 4 days. on: February 28, 2018, 08:08:18 PM
One of the things you can do without buying more components, is finding promising coin and mine it. If you do that and hold that coin, after some time you can sell it and earn money from price difference.
Also, you could find some coin with low difficulty and acceptable price, that after mining you could sell and start cryptocurrency trading. You can make some really nice money from it, and invest it in your mining rig.
302  Other / Meta / Re: Deserved receipt of Merit on: February 28, 2018, 07:47:58 PM
I agree with what AdolfinWolf said, so i will not repeat it. Also, most of good quality posts that you speak of are probably in "shit threads", swarmed by shitposts. That is why they are not seen and sMerited.
What is good quality post... that is relative thing, because opinion of that varies from person to person. Awarding some post with sMerit is personal thing, you can not make people sMerit posts they don't see worthy.
303  Other / Meta / Re: many threads are the same on: February 28, 2018, 07:16:56 PM
Super-hard work for Mod, totally agree. We can see many "Shit Topic" in Local boards.
I will use Bahasa Board because my native languange is Bahasa.
In Bahasa, you can see many Newbie and Jr. Member just spamming and do shitposting.

Eliminating shit topics and shitposts is hard job, and I guess its even harder in local thread. That is one more reason why we need to help mods in cleaning this forum. People should learn how to report things and people who broke forum regulations.

And, Mod really work hard to eliminate "Shit Topic", but it will come more and more.

I believe that in time shitposts and shit topics will be brought down to a minimum. New ranking system with our help will make that happen. That is why I believe that there will be less and less problems like this. When those shitposters realize there is nothing more for them here, they will leave... or improve their posts and topics.

305  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ESCROW-COIN PROJECT IS SCAMMED AVOID THEM. on: February 24, 2018, 10:31:42 PM
@EcuaMobi, @aTriz, thanks for support! Because EcuaMobi put negative trust on them, there is no need for me to do the same... or is there?
306  Other / Meta / Question about Negative trust on: February 24, 2018, 07:46:34 PM
Can I give negative trust to member for poor management of a signature campaign?

Many members including me, were in this ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2949276.0 ) signature campaign for one week.

When the time for payment came, campaign manager told us that he has contacted people from Escrow coin group, and that he will receive funds within 7 hours. So we waited till tomorrow like he said.
Post link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2949276.msg30932056#msg30932056

Next day he said that "we" got scammed by people that runs Escrow coin project. Post link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2949276.msg30980089#msg30980089
Also, in that post he said we can see full description of scam on this link - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3013252.msg30979958#msg30979958

In topic (in which he reported scam), he said that he asked for funds 4 days ago.  Also you can see there, some chat of his where he tries to get our payment.

Conclusion: He accepted to menage campaign and offered payment to other members, which he didn't have. Also he didn't warn us about funds, and when one member asked about escrow he said this ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2949276.msg30303885#msg30303885 ). He stayed silent even when he didn't receive funds after 4 days. He lied to us and said he will get funds within 7 hours, only to announce afterward that "we" have been scammed...

Its not about payment i didn't get. I just want him to get negative trust, so that he could not run another campaign. It would be bad if more people go through things like this.
307  Economy / Services / Re: ESCROW COIN - SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN - FULL MEMBER+ (CLOSED) on: February 24, 2018, 04:25:10 PM
Ahahahha! This is what we get for trusting menager who is not trustworthy...
What is even sadder, menager act like its not his fault, and provide poor evidence for it.
Thanks for this lesson, you will also get what you deserve.
308  Other / Meta / Re: Mods. I believe threads like these need to be locked. Need your opinion on: February 23, 2018, 03:21:38 PM

maybe there should be some kind of penalty for creating threads that already exist, or that are exactly the same like some old ones. People should brows a bit before they make new thread, and some kind of punishment would make them do just that.

What kind of punishment could you have for such a thing? The search feature is really not all too great and so, even if using search you'll often not be able to realise that the thread you started has already been opened.

As far as search option is concerned, I am not sure what could be done on that end. But i know there are advanced options for search, which personally i never used before. Because I found everything i wanted without it.

And about penalties... there could be a prohibition on creating new topics for limited time, for those members for whom has been proven that have created needless topic or shit thread. And there could be a similar penalty (like prohibition on posting for limited time) for those who created pure shit post and for those that are constantly making them.
309  Other / Meta / Re: Mods. I believe threads like these need to be locked. Need your opinion on: February 22, 2018, 03:32:43 PM
Every thread can be locked by OP, so i guess that its their duty to lock it down when they get enough answers or when it begins to become spam thread. They do not need to wait for mods to do that for them. I know that sometime discussion can be really long and educational, but threads like this is just ridiculous.

The problem is if the thread gets locked then they'll just start another one to replace it. The merit system is slowing down the influx of new spamming accounts, now we just need a way to weed out the ones already here.

Sadly, what you said is truth. But maybe there should be some kind of penalty for creating threads that already exist, or that are exactly the same like some old ones. People should brows a bit before they make new thread, and some kind of punishment would make them do just that.
310  Other / Meta / Re: Is merit need to improve forum position? on: February 22, 2018, 02:14:07 PM
Rank doesn't really matter that much. Unless you are aiming only to join signature campaigns or to be a manager of some, because you can do other things even if you are lower rank. I know that there are some permission that higher ranks have which lower don't, but they don't matter that much. So if you need those permission that much, only thing you can do without gathering enough Merits is what finaleshot2016 said.

My advice, if you want to do jobs around the forum, build up your trust and reputation. That way you will get Merits along the way. Its double win for you. Good luck mate.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How I would approach cryptocurrency if I was a bank on: February 21, 2018, 09:35:02 PM
It will not be long before banks start dealing with Bitcoin and maybe other cryptocurrencies as well. I guess they are waiting for crypto regulations from country where they do business. Because of curent (none) regulations, some of things you spoke of are not possible. Also do not forget that banks make a lot of profit, so why would they change something that is good for them.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 15,000usd at the end of Feb for Bitcoin?? on: February 21, 2018, 10:51:57 AM
It is not impossible, but less likely. February is almost over, only seven days left. With everything that is going on, and with so much fluctuation, I doubt Bitcoin could reach $15000.
Some people are still scared from last drop, because of that many will sell when they think its appropriate time. Because of that price will stagnate. So no, it will not reach $15k this month.

News that South Korea relax the grip around cryptocurrencies is good news indeed. But time of regulations is coming, and that will be cloudy days for crytpo.
313  Other / Meta / Re: "Replies to your posts" list change request on: February 20, 2018, 08:12:55 PM
Maybe you should start using Watchlist instead of "Replies to your post". It would provide you with notification whenever there is a new post on thread that you follow (watch). Also, you can delete thread from Watchlist. That way you can keep up with new threads, and remove old ones from the list. Check settings for more information.
314  Other / Meta / Re: The big advantage of the merit points system on: February 20, 2018, 07:48:51 PM
You have a very impressive amount of merit points! How do you get them? Thank you, please teach us humble members with no merit points.

If you are not being cynical, and really want to improve your post quality you should go and read this thread. There are some really fine advices there. I would suggest you check this two first:

- check what Jet Cash said here
- check what EthanB said here

I guess you can find more threads with useful advices, if you just try. And if you are being cynical, well i hope this post help other people who are willing to improve.
315  Other / Meta / Re: Charge for merit !!!!!!! on: February 20, 2018, 06:46:31 PM
As you can see that member already got what they deserve, and that is negative trust.
So instead of whining how Merit system is bad, maybe you should pay more attention on making good posts so you could get Merits.
And next time when you see someone breaking the rules, just report them to moderators.
316  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are vanity addresses less secure than "normal", randomly generated addresses? on: February 19, 2018, 07:46:45 PM
As far as I know, neither of those are responsible for your wallet security. There are several option from which you can chose to secure your wallet, and most common is Private key.
So even if you randomly generate your address, what you get is symbols that represent where your coins would go.
Even if someone know your address, that doesn't necessary mean your in danger. Only if you are not careful enough with your important wallet information (like Private key), in that case you will be in danger.
317  Other / Meta / Re: Stopping Sale of Hacked Accounts on: February 19, 2018, 04:38:43 PM

It doesn't need to happen quickly. Maybe no merit would be lost the first month of inactivity but 1 merit would be lost the second month. A 2 merit loss could be lost the third month, then 4 and so on.

So this wouldn't hurt occasional inactivity but it would quickly remove credibility from the inactive hacked accounts which are later sold.
If Merit losing rate is balanced right, it could work. After few months, speed of losing Merits could increase rapidly. Also people that want to keep their accounts active could login from time to time. I guess it would not be so hard.

Not a bad idea. It's not just the merit itself, but also sMerit (which is often used to farm up their alts). I'd like the sMerit of inactive accounts to decay significantly faster than those who are active (e.g. 5-10x faster).

Combining OP's and Lauda's idea, and we get really good one. Also those confiscated sMerits could be redistributed for further use.

Forum admins could also add setting which would put account into stand by mode, which people could activate when they know they will be inactive for month or so. And if account is not activated in the mean time or after that limited time, it would be treated like it was inactive the whole time and would receive penalties.

318  Other / Meta / Re: Stopping Sale of Hacked Accounts on: February 19, 2018, 12:24:00 PM
That is interesting idea, but i think that it would bring only more problems.
For example, how long would it take before some member start losing its rank? Would loss happen slowly or it would happen immediately? If what you suggested was implemented that would create problem for those who was not active for longer time, and have decided to come back, only to see their rank lowered. And there could be really good people in that group, that didn't deserve that kind of punishment.

Its and interesting idea as i said, but also a bit radical. I think that it would only bring more problems than solutions.
319  Other / Meta / Re: Buying merit on: February 18, 2018, 04:39:34 PM
Merit system was imported to force some members to improve their post quality. If we could buy Merits, that would mean shitposters would be able to buy it too. If that happens what would be the purpose of Merit system, it would mean nothing. So no, it would be really bad if buying Merits were allowed.
320  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Beware Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash Pump and Dumps; There is a War Going on on: February 18, 2018, 01:54:40 PM
From the start Bitcoin Cash wanted to replace Bitcoin, and because of that i guess Bitcoin Cash is in war with Bitcoin not other way around. But Bitcoin has nothing to fear, because it outnumber Bitcoin Cash by a lot. when I think about it, I guess that war for number one crypto has always been there. That is race which will go on for as long as crypto exist. Every altcoin would like to become number one crypto, but that is hard.

Kill Bitcoin and you kill crypto. They just need to see how alts performed in January.

If Bitcoin dies for some reason that doesn't mean that everything would end because of it. If that happens some Altcoin will succeed Bitcoin and everything would continue on. It would be a blow for crypto would yes, but it would survive.
