As far as I understand, most of the time transfer speed isn't the limiting factor, but calculating the correctness of the database (e.g. no fake transactions in a block you received). As bitcoin-qt is the reference implementation, I fear some potentially even slightly less secure methods wouldn't make it.
Maybe however it might be possible to just get any block it can get without processing at all and then reassemble it to a proper, unforked blockchain. This might again have some DoS potential though... a compromise would be to first get all headers until the current block and then get the content for these asap.
On the topic: As already said, there's a kinda current snapshot + torrent for it already linked, also the torrent is quite well seeded. Integrating this in the client might on one hand be nice, but on the other hand undermines bootstrapping security minimally. I still think something like a "rolling release" magnet link that contains a torrent from the blockchain 120 blocks ago which gets loaded by a client is surely nice to have, won't make it in the reference client though.

Oh and by the way there's a BIG thread on the German subforum (in German) about him, as he seemed to operate the now broke exchange "mybitcontrade" as well as offering several financial products there. He seems to pay back small amounts recently though to some of his debtors after a lot of them threatened to got to (or went to) the police and/or file charges. I'd recommend you to read more about it in this thread (in the end - the beginnning is still about the oh-so-great GLBSE ripoff page...): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=37320

If there is a payout, how will you know whom to pay how much?!
Also, which game on Satoshi's Dice should actually be played?

Amazon EU (I don't have an US account...): https://partnernet.amazon.de/gp/associates/promo/participationoct201214. You will not offer any person or entity any consideration or incentive (including any money, rebate, discount, points, donation to charity or other organization, or other benefit) for using Special Links (e.g., by implementing any “rewards” or loyalty programme that incentivizes persons or entities to visit the Amazon Site via your Special Links). Just sayin', you (=OP) might loose your rewards by doing that... it's a nice idea though!

How many more coins have been recovered in the mean time?
Not being able to immediately pay the debt back to bondholders doesn't mean you should stop collecting it and holding it in the mean time... I'd suggest you name an address, sign a statement with it's private key and instruct INAU to pay back money there in the mean time until GLBSE (maybe?) releases the needed info.

Anyways: How are the keys for the files generated?
It's a random string not hash Of which length and how generated (/dev/random, /dev/urandom, some library...)?! How and where are these keys stored? All in all the only thing that this encryption is good for is that if someone gets onto one of your storage nodes, the attacker still needs to break the database with your key(s). All the data can be decrypted without the uploader's knowledge by you and it gets transmitted in plaintext over the net... this leads me to https support: planned? Also in the end all you do is provide a front-end to AWS... make sure you don't get a high bill because someone writes a script to upload billions of 1 byte files *cough*... By the way: I upload a file, don't enter a bitcoin address and close the web page - what happens?! File gets deleted, file gets deleted after 1 week, ...?!

You have right. It was a serious typo. All files are AES-256 encrypted.
Seems like your first language is german... Anyways: How are the keys for the files generated? I think the biggest problem for bitcoin in Iran is, that the people cant get rid of their Rials. where bitcoins are used for remittance transfers to family members back home, then the recipient would be looking for rials. Are you sure? I guess a 100 USD bill would be more in demand in Iran than the same amount in Rial... However, the same could hold true for BTC.

Either someone donates a whole bunch of BTC into Iran and finds a way to randomly distribute them similar to mining (which at current difficulties + USD prices is not really an option there) so they can bootstrap or there's another way how to exchange goods/gold/iranian money for BTC that we need to establish and haven't thought about yet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RemittancesGood luck in getting USD into Iran - I guess you haven't tried it or don't know any Iranis, right?

Getting enough* Bitcoins into Iran to have a meaningful economy in BTC there might be a harder task than getting the blocks/transactions to/from miners or the software into Iran. Unless someone is helping people there (meaning: Bitcoin websites/documentation/information/services in farsi!) I just don't see it happening. What about great concepts that would benefit people in the US a lot, but they are only documented + in use in Suaheli for example? Technology and ideas are not just generated and implemented in the english speaking world or the US and then dribble down to the "more stupid and underdeveloped" parts of the world (yes, I'm exaggerating)...

* Yes, I know in theory "you can run a whole economy off of 1 single BTC!!!11121!". Currently however NOT without introducing questionable concepts like colored coins making 1 coin not equal to another coin. Otherwise there would be always the lurking threat of someone coming into Iran with 10 BTC he bought for ~100 USD and having a buying power many times that.

Yeah, it doesn't look like an official reddit.com project to me... however the topic here suggests it is. Maybe change that.

damnit. i must have just missed the processing period. i got the login screen but after putting in my email and payout address i got a 404. now the front page says: Update:we are currently unable to process account closures, and will inform our users when this service resumes. OK, you've got my attention. I'll gladly take any brainstorming from people on what can be done with my electric bill, my ID and a picture of me with the date, my login & e-mail... #1) Seriously, what could happen? #2) And what can I do about it now? I'm pretty sure the answer to #1 is not too much (fingers crossed). but I'm even more sure the answer to #2 is nothing... gah, I guess this had to happen sooner or later. Perhaps I should cancel or put a hold on my credit lines? Any other ideas? I'm not sure if existing "real" online financial insitutions require more or even less than these documents for AML... want to have a nice stock portfolio in a country that you didn't even know the name of? You might already have one! Afaik most of the time the picture of yourself + date is not required anyways, so utility bill + ID should be enough in most cases. Also without a GOOD reason ("AML requirements because required by my lawyer XY/financial institution Z" for example would be a good reason) I'd rather dare to sue a fellow EU citizen than comply with these questionable stuff. On a more constructive side (if Nefario still reads this thread): Please post updates with a timestamp and keep old updates on the page! Thanks.

Buying ID-less GLBSE acounts with all necessary information for 15% of any BTC redeemed! Edit: Since I started getting actual offers on this (Ô_ô): THE ABOVE IS A SLIGHTLY SARCASTIC REMARK; NOT A SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT! If you have a serious amount of BTC and shares on your GLBSE account (serious amount = in the area of a few 100 EUR at MtGox rates) maybe we can still work out a deal, but even in that case I would recommend anyone to just put the offer publicly in the marketplace as there might be other trusted (am I trusted?!) members of the community offering the same cheaper...

I don't even HAVE a utility bill to my name + home to begin with, also I'm now really worried that someone could just claim to have owned my account instead. Why the hell can't we at least use our EXISTING login data on a demo site in the mean time just to see our balance etc.?!
I still have 7 BTC on GLBSE (luckily I pulled out at least most of the accumulated cash before) and quite some GIPPT shares that are still being wound up, so there's not much of an option for me than to comply to whatever crazy regulations GLBSE's lawyer thinks are necessary... I'm definitely not going to be happy about them though.
