Gox seems to have come to their senses and halted trading for a while. The 2nd level order book however still shows offers from there... Either the api from gox still returns an order book or bitfinex needs to be made aware that actually one of its exchanges is dead right now. Especially if there are more exchanges integrated in the future this will be a thing that can happen from time to time.

Wir bräuchten halt einen dezentralen P2P Exchange. Die Software würde 1 Layer über dem Bitcoin-QT Client liegen und die Transaktionen direkt kommunizieren. Fiat lädst du über die üblichen Methoden in den Client und broadcastest dann deine gewünschten Orders ins Netz oder kaufst / verkaufst instant, wie üblich. Das hab ich mir grade in 2 Minuten ausgedacht, und ich kann ja wohl nicht der Erste sein dem sowas einfällt.
Was sind die üblichen methoden um Euro an beliebige Marktteilnehmer sicher, schnell und irreversibel zu senden? Ripple ist da noch der vielversprechendste Kandidat aber selbst da dauerts erst mal ein bisschen bis die Infrastruktur steht. Ist dann auch gar nicht so einfach falls man zB ein e-geld Institut dafür gründen muss. Das ist schon knapp unter einer Bank. |

Well, of course I hope in the future the insurance fee will be lowered again, maybe once mtgox manages to finally update their laggy engine. On the other hand I'm glad that you managed to survive this week's crazy day. Earning 22% less interest with insurance sucks of course - but if it helps you to stay alive I'm all for it! Can we choose to be insured after a loan has been taken by the way or does this have to be decided right when putting up the loan offer? Right now nearly all my USD are taken and I have no idea when I get them back to later put them into insured loans... Also it seems to that lots of other exchanges are as well not coping too well with a lot of orders in a short time... Please also stress test your own a engine, I already linked an open source engine to benchmark against. Also you might wanna look into becoming a ripple gateway. Still I'm glad everything seems to be not fine but at least OK and running and I'm looking forward to the next rally with great interest rates and profits for traders!  |

Mit BitCoins macht das ding 830 Mh/s
mit meinen ufasoft miner erden bei den Litecoinpools nur 360 kh/s angezeigt und findet keine litecoins.
was für einen miner muss ich nehmen? geht das überhaupt mit den butterflylabs FPGAs?

Well, the greed score whatever it might mean or however it is scaled is now over 100k. Not much more to add, but it sounds like a lot. There is quite some trading going on on bitfinex internal by the way. It seems like someone sold down to 150 or so, now there are again offers up to 180 USD. Looks like some cheap profits to me... Good luck to the traders and good night to me - let's see what tomorrow brings.
Other exchanges were down or lagging tonight too, getting goxxed seems to be not too exclusive after all. Hopefully the internal engine is good enough to handle the stress in the future too, so far this week alone I guess there was more than half a million USD deposited.

Hm, my USD are still all lent out... Anyways, I saw an interesting project on Reddit mentioned, might be useful for Raphael to evaluate as well: http://lmax-exchange.github.io/disruptor/ --> open source trading engine that is said to handle 100k trades per second with 1 ms lag. I'm not too worried, after all in a few hours the dust will settle, whoever cashed out buys back in at a profit and some people will enjoy a strong alcoholic beverage after all that stress. At least this time the forum here didn't break down! |

Still 700k USD and only 560 BTC lent out and actually it would be possible to still do quite some trading on Bitfinex internal (page seems responsive). MtGox currently has over 30 minutes lag - interesting day it seems! Let's just hope my lent out dollars are still somehow worth something when the dust settles.  |

Yes, that's of course also possible.  I also appreciate this fact that I'm allowed with compared to traditional trading amounts play money to gain lending interests that will at least allow me to have a nice holiday this summer. Still bitfinex is a trading platform, the lending feature is there to help traders who like more risk and more return - not to borrow money for investing it elsewhere. |

You can only borrow funds that stay on the platform and are used for trading. That way you can go long by borrowing dollars or short by borrowing bitcoins. You cannot however withdraw borrowed funds, only the profits you make with these funds after closing your positions. On the other hand that means you'll get much better rates than on btcjam for example as the people lending to you can be sure you can't just run away and never pay them back. Also you can get your hands on USD, something that's not too easy otherwise.
Bitfinex is a trading platform mainly, lending is just there because the operators don't have that deep pockets themselves.

Nochmal: Wenn du um einen niedrigeren Betrag als das aktuelle Höchstegebot verkaufst, werden so lange Höchstgebote erfüllt, bis entweder dein Preis erreicht ist oder deine Coins zu Ende.
Stell dir folgende Gebote vor:
A: 10 BTC um je 100 USD
B: 50 BTC um je 70 USD
C: 40 BTC um je 10 USD
Nun verkaufst du 30 BTC um bis zu 1 USD je BTC.
Du bekommst dann von A 10 * 100 USD und von B noch 20 * 70 USD
Danach schauen die Gebote so aus:
B: 30 BTC um je 70 USD
C: 40 BTC um je 10 USD
Alternativ verkaufst du 1000 BTC um bis zu 1 USD je BTC:
Du bekommst von A die 10 * 100 USD, von B die 50 * 70 USD und von C die 40 * 10 USD. Der Rest kann gerade nicht verkauft werden, deswegen hast du dann noch ein offenes Verkaufsangebot um 900 BTC für je 1 USD.
Real auf MtGox wirst du es wohl nicht schaffen ohne 5-6stellige BTC Beträge allzu tief zu rutschen.
Manche Exchanges würden dir übrigens statt den 10*100USD etc. nur genau die 100 USD geben, die du dir erwartet hast und den rest einstreifen, üblicherweise wird aber davon ausgegangen, dass du lieber mehr Geld als einen exakten Betrag haben willst.
Du kannst auf MtGox nicht mit einem bestimmten Trader handeln, da du eben immer die besten Preise bekommen solltest und direkter Handel ja auch einfach ohne Börse möglich wäre.
Zu deinem eingefrorenem Account: Entweder du traust denen, oder du nutzt ihr Service nicht - dass man sich eventuell verifizieren muss, ist ja nicht gerade unerwartet.

Ripple already exists in beta - and even there it is still hard to interface with fiat currencies (not only from the software but also from the legal side).

I guess the issue is not too few people wanting to buy BTC on BFX, it's too few people selling BTC there. If you want to sell BTC, you either want to go short or just need something that can only be bought in USD/EUR/INR/...
If you need fiat money, the sooner you get it, the better. If you can give more confidence that you for example regularly send out bank transfers within 24 hours and they arrive after 48 hours on average in the US or EU, this might get more people to actually sell BTC on your platform. Also you could look into Ripple integration and for example trust Bitstamp in that regard, so one can move fiat money into and out of Bitfinex via Ripple. These could then be redeemed at Bitstamp and withdrawn to the SEPA area much cheaper than your current 20 USD fee.
Again that would take some time and development effort, but to make your internal exchange more attactive usually the hardest part is to move fiat legally and quickly in and out as fast and safe as possible.
As MtGox will cancel their USD codes, this might get even more urgent. On the other hand, 1-2 more exchanges as partners would also greatly spread and reduce the risks as well as allowing for better depth, less lag and more options to redeem money at exchanges (e.g. Bitstamp codes).
Anyways, in the meantime I still can only recommend to people to get more short positions and sell more coins internally, it will help everyone involved and might get you nice profits if you believe that a crash is imminent too!

Bitfinex kann leveraged trading inklusive shorting schon lange und solange diese coinsetters keinen exklusivlink zum Goxberg haben, sind die 500k usd auch schnell wieder verbrannt...
Außerdem keine infos oder Screenshots, nur ein anmeldeformular. Naja, mal sehen was da daraus wird.
Das Geld wird wohl eher für Löhne und so drauf gehen, coins zum shorten sollten sie ja hoffentlich schon haben. Alleine bitfinex könnte z.b. von jetzt auf gleich eine weitere halbe Million für long Positionen locker verkraften... Wenn die da das mit eigenem Kapital stemmen wollen, brauchen die auch mal ein paar Millionen für die Bullen im Markt.

Methanol ist da sicher drinnen. Ob in irgendwelchen relevanten Mengen ist allerdings ne andere Sache... Ich würde auch verbindlich 2 Flaschen nach Österreich nehmen, gerne auch mit etwas mehr versandkosten, auf die paar bitcent kommt's mir jetzt auch nicht an. Um einen "guten" preis zu finden könnte Chefin ja die Flaschen versteigern und das mindestgebot bei einem preis ansetzen der akzeptablen Verlust bedeutet, egal ob nun 0 oder x Euro. Andererseits bedeutet das natürlich erhöhten Aufwand für Käufer... Naja, wird schon irgendwie klappen. |
