3161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: April 29, 2015, 08:36:17 PM
Bitcoin's not done, but the price will continue to decrease, mainly because heisted BTC almost always get sold for below-market price, but also because there is no real reason for 99% of the population to use it.
The fastest, cheapest, and most secure way to send money is not a good enough reason?
I'm celebrating my 1 year anniversary on this forum and I would say adoption has leveled off.
Hard to say, maybe.
Bitcoin isn't going to be used by the poor masses to wirelessly transfer money to their home countries without having to pay customary surcharges and fees.
Why is that? Are you aware that in Africa this is the way it's done now? I'm not even sure what fees you mean. Who can charge me a fee?
Bitcoin isn't going to be the "go-to safe-haven" investment when all hell breaks loose and the dollar collapses.
Why is that? I would definitely use it more if the dollar collapsed
Bitcoin won't fuel any sort of revolution because you still need electricity and the internet in order for it to be worth anything.
Is electricity going away? I don't think it's a fad.
Nobody wants to download the entire blockchain to have their own QT wallet or much less gives a shit about being a node. The size of it is too unwieldy.
Few will want to run a full node. But fortunately only a few need to.
The only good thing I see coming out of bitcoin is more decentralization of mining as the price falls below profitability for the major miners who are used to paying outrageous prices for ASIC equipment that will soon again be worthless.
bitcoin scales and it is always profitable. But not for every miner. Like say... Mining.

...I have not seen anyone say that you could lose your job before. lol, its awesome.

On Reddit just a few days ago, I think Undecided
...
Oh I did see that.
The post was titled: I almost got fired for talking about Bitcoin last night
Which the op titled: Got fired for talking about Bitcoin last night
Which in reality is: I embarrassed my boss and it looked like I was going to be fired

too funny  Cheesy
3163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy? on: April 29, 2015, 08:13:16 PM
To be fair and balanced (Like fox news) this is in no way limited to Hillary. Our own idiot for president from Wisconsin has been robbing the treasury to fund his trips abroad. He is a college dropout who isn't qualified to be assistant dog catcher, yet he has been traveling so he can say things like "when I met with business leaders in London.."

There is no candidate so in the pockets of big money as Scott Walker. For Earth day last week he disbanded the scientific research department of the DNR, fired half the scientists, and announced a plan to let corporations re-name the parks. So forget John Muir park, how bout Massey energy park.

3164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has the NSA already broken bitcoin? on: April 29, 2015, 08:04:23 PM
This is all BS.
3165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for the next Bitcoin. on: April 29, 2015, 07:48:32 PM

I don't think any pure coin has a chance against Bitcoin. The projects to look out for are not Bitcoin rivals but projects that will grow due to the success of Bitcoin and the blockchain tech.

I think that is spot on. Look for businesses serving the bitcoin economy and other uses for the blockchain.
3166  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stay away from bitcoin ! on: April 29, 2015, 07:45:43 PM
>OP makes one post
>gets 4 pages of rage & butthurt

Flawless victory Cool

Open discussion and rebuttal to false claims is a victory... For Bitcoin.  Wink
Besides this one is super funny. I have not seen anyone say that you could lose your job before. lol, its awesome.

As a side note, when I told my bosses they all bought some.  Cheesy

3167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: mabie lost bitcoins help on: April 29, 2015, 07:41:30 PM
...
yeah, thatīs the plan i guess, not worth it with just 0.2
lucky i only had my spare change on my pc, and the main coin on my hardware wallet.

Ok, well that is a bright spot. If I were you I would make a backup of that wallet.dat file right away.  In fact, I make three copies on different media. One of them goes in the safe deposit box at the bank. A second one is geo-cashed in an impossible to guess place. The third you could mail to a relative in another state.

Now even if an atom bomb takes out most of the city I could still recover my coins. And if you know how to use VERY, VERY, strong encryption you could hide one on the internet that could be accessed from anywhere. This does require some thought and understanding of the risks, but could work, especially when combined with other measures such as steganography.

3168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: April 29, 2015, 07:30:42 PM
I wonder how long it will take before you realize you're being trolled by OP and stop responding here. Every few days there's a topic like that, nothing new. I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those guys from "speculation".
I assume everyone knows this is not for real. Some claim they are paid to post these disparaging ideas, it could be a need for drama in their life, or perhaps a naive attempt to move the market. I respond because I consider it an opportunity to discuss the merits of their claims and help new users to understand bitcoin better. Ironically, I think it actually helps bitcoin.

Thanks FUDsters! Your building the BTC economy every day.  Kiss
3169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: mabie lost bitcoins help on: April 29, 2015, 05:58:12 PM
Please tell us you made a copy of your old wallet.  Lips sealed

It is the wallet.dat file that holds the keys you need. without those keys there is no way to recover your coins. I hope this is not your situation.
3170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: April 29, 2015, 05:54:44 PM
Oh Ok guys, let's just delete our coins. A random guy on the internet says it's all over. I for one am convinced.
3171  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is Hillary Clinton Trustworthy? on: April 29, 2015, 05:31:39 PM
What bothers me is that each election cycle we end up with the same bosses to vote for. Is this really as good as we can do? Another Clinton and another Bush? What is this a European monarchy?

And the other candidates are even worse. Unqualified, ignorant, and there to enrich themselves. They should be tared and feathered not awarded the special status of making their own laws for us to obey.

I think I'm going back to voting with the Green party.  Undecided

Unfortunately, unlike most of the other nations, the United States is having a strict two-party politics. There are fringe political movements such as the Libertarian Party and the Green Party, but none of these fringe elements are likely to get more than 2% of the national vote. So the aim should be to get someone who agrees a lot with our views elected as the nominee in any of the two main parties.
Agreed.
And then there is the money issue. I can't see a party that represents normal people competing with the now billions of dollars spent to elect millionaires. What a mess. Is it really going to take a violent revolution to do away with all this? I hope not, but history shows that if you let the pressure keep building things fall apart.

... Anything with "party" in it is corruptible... Brown party, Black party, Red party, Blue party...

I'm pro death penalty, and support conceal carry. Not very green, I know.  Grin
That is the problem with a third party. By the time they have a platform that attracts an audience big enough to win they look just like the two parties we have.
3173  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Navdiy - Standalone open GPS device running Android | Bounties & rewards! on: April 29, 2015, 04:52:29 PM
I'm gona watch this. I think there is a market. Where I live traffic is not an issue. But on recent visits to San Francisco and L.A. my friends there were all using waze. I had the same experience as you (OP). I had the GPS and waze and at one point needed google maps also.
3174  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Am I too Late?! on: April 29, 2015, 04:46:12 PM
well... You may need a computer like this one:

This is the scale of mining today. Since it's like a lottery system it is theoretically possible to still mine with a home computer. The odds however are dismal. It will likely take hundreds or thousands of years to find a block.

really since the Chinese mega-mines it's go big or go home.

I dont mean to pick,

But i had to laugh at the idea of the microwave ordering nutritous meals for you only to zap the nutrition right out of it.

Disclaimer, microwaves fuck your food.

It is funny. But I didn't think the brick/charcoal pizza oven would have wifi.  Cheesy
3177  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much money do you carry with you? on: April 29, 2015, 04:03:44 PM
Sometimes I have a $10 or $20 bill in my wallet. But I always have about $100 in BTC on my phone.
3178  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stay away from bitcoin ! on: April 29, 2015, 03:47:08 PM
This thread is bullish for sure!   Cool

Thanks OP for the push I needed.

Just becasue there are a lot of bulls on here, doesn't make any of them right.  BTC seems to have very weak support, even at this level.  I for sure am holding off until $150 or even double digits hit.
Weak? It must be what one has seen so far. When I got here it was WEAK. A pizza was 10,00 BTC. There were so few users that you knew about all of them. There were no exchanges, stores, hardware. When I look around now it's shocking how much adoption has taken place, truly shocking.

Bitcoin is now a global phenomenon and grows every day. I now can buy ANYTHING I want with bitcoin and even have the luxury of comparing prices at different stores. There is no stopping the train now.
3179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Internet of things? on: April 29, 2015, 03:26:22 PM
For me the "internet of things" is still a cool sounding buzzwork, but I don't see the benefits from having, say, microwave oven and a fridge that's connected to the internet. Isn that a bit over the top? this being connected to everything constantly is getting pathological imo.
I hear you. Although the model of the future may have the machines interacting more than us. For example that fridge could do your shopping as you run out of milk and eggs. The microwave could download and suggest a meal plan as it works with the fridge on ingredients. Low on gas? no worries after dropping you off at work your car heads to the gas station to spend some bitcoins. It has also bought a water pump today to replace the one it senses is going bad. All these sorts of things could run in the background of your life.
3180  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Killing Jews is Worship that Draws Us Close to Allah" Ads on NYC Buses on: April 28, 2015, 09:06:05 PM
Thanks for the response. It's clarifying and I don't find anything to disagree with in it.

I bet we would all get along in real life also.  Smiley

The funny thing is several people I recently met there have their own misinformation. They would say things they thought western Christians believed. When you tried to get to the source it was always a quote by some crazy preacher.

But he said "All Christians must kill Muslims to go to heaven"! "That is what they believe in America! Oh boy Kahled, where to start.  Roll Eyes
