I have learned that at these forums the most provocative, intriguing, and conspiratorial possibility is always the correct assumption. No homework or facts required. It's always aliens or a secret cabal of mysterious players.
This type of thinking should give Satoshi years of cover.  Wink

Good advice fellas, thanks!
I would add that my belief is that talk of whales is far more common than whales.  Wink

Just to make it unanimous, DO NOT break that seal. It would be like smashing an antique piggy bank to get the pennies out.

could you link to a public address showing the balance?
2165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should people use Bitcoin? on: December 08, 2015, 06:35:07 PM
I could care less about what others do and why they do it. For me it is about financial benefit. Bitcoin is the fastest, cheapest, and most secure money. It is far better than dollars. In order to use dollars I must have permission from the issuer and must use them according to their rules. Dollars only work in the U.S. and a few other places and if I want to send them somewhere I must pay ridiculous fees and wait for up to a month for everything to be cleared. Even worse, dollars require trust. I would have to give all the information required to steal from me to a website, a payment processor, a credit card company, others?
Cards look so stupid to me now. I'll never go back. A better title for this thread is "Why the F@#% would anyone use fiat"?
2166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Downloading Bitcoin Blockchain on: December 07, 2015, 09:12:22 PM
The blockchain i externally downloaded was supposed to speed it up though but its made it slower?

It should work. But after downloading the reference copy of the blockchain the software still needs to go through it all and read it. Then it will start downloading any newer blocks that were not in the reference copy. If your download was 21gig then you still have about another 30gig to be caught up. That will also take a long while. You could just turn on your computer and forget it for a day or two. Or you could turn on bitcoin when it's convenient. It will pick up where it left off each time.
2167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Downloading Bitcoin Blockchain on: December 07, 2015, 08:58:44 PM
The current chain size is 50Gig! It may still be loading the most recent blocks. it may also be reading through that data in the download, which also takes a long time. From what you have said there is no reason to be concerned yet about it not working. As long as it keep loading your on the right track.
It is a hassle to install with that huge file. But once you are up to date then you only need to load new blocks and it is much easier to use.
2168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin Will Not Survive", says Jamie Dimon on: December 07, 2015, 08:49:07 PM
So let's see how Jamie did last month.

When this thread first appeard JP Morgan Chase was selling for $66.44
Right now it is selling at .........................................................$66.74

So Jamie made ......................................................................$0.30

My bitcoins were ..................................................................$387.51
and now are ........................................................................$395.32

So I made ............................................................................$7.81

Yeah, he can get bent.  Wink
2169  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoins safe? on: December 07, 2015, 08:35:59 PM
Is it safe to keep all of my assets in Bitcoins?
No. IMO, bitcoin is too volatile to hold ALL your money.

And how Department for Combating Economic Crimes, can affect my account?  What permissions they need , to freeze all my money ?[/size]
No one else in the universe should have access to your BTC. Unless you give someone your private key there is no way to "freeze" your money and no higher authority than you. Permission is not required in the bitcoin system because there is no one with the authority to give permission.

Of course if a tax authority catches you evading taxes then there is nothing about bitcoin that is a defense of your actions. You may face jail and penalties in addition to owing the original taxes.

Looking at the picture, you obviously haven't thought them how to safely handle a gun...  You never keep your finger on the trigger unless you are about to shoot...
+1 You sir are correct!
I noticed that also. I have no idea who these people are, it was just the funniest pic I found.  Cheesy
2171  Economy / Goods / Re: New and used Weapsons, delivery world wide! on: December 07, 2015, 07:55:20 PM
I'm pretty sure you can't just ship an automatic weapon by United States Postal Service.

Its threads like this that give Bitcoin a bad name because it associates Bitcoin with violence and drugs.
You are right. You will need to use UPS or Fedex and no automatic weapons can be sold without a HUGE amount of paperwork, fees, BG checks. And none shipped into the U.S.

But what does that have to do with violence? I own lots of guns and they are never used for violence. Or drugs? What does this have to do with drugs?

P.S. Lots of people sell guns for BTC in the U.S. now. Here is my favorite site. Good prices and helpfull service.

2175  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.info on: December 07, 2015, 06:37:57 PM
With blockchain.info you have the private keys, mtgox was the one with the private keys.

Blockchain.info you own the coins, with mtgox it was mtgox who owned the coins, cryptographically speaking...
Yes, its a better system for users because of this. Of course you are still needing to trust the functionality of the website and that it has close to 100% uptime.

Correct, assuming Blockchain.info claims are true.

If you have your keys you don't need 100% uptime, has you'll be able to move your coins if blockchain.info isn't available.
That's a good point. If you had the private keys then you could go to a different wallet. For those new to the system, it's all about that private key. With it everything is fixable, without it there is no hope.
2176  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Brand new to forum, get BTC regularly and would like to sell for paypal, on: December 07, 2015, 06:29:34 PM
OP I'm sure you have heard this before. Do not mix PayPal and bitcoin. You might want to look into an exchange website or consider spending the bitcoin directly. Why go through PayPal when you already have money? You may be surprised at how many places take them now. Or you could use Gyft to turn your coins into gift codes for places you shop anyway.
2177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mysterious Addresses on: December 07, 2015, 06:20:05 PM
Those are change addresses and are present on your wallet:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Change

I second this assertion. Change is a weird and difficult to get part of Bitcoin.
2178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Is there any way I can access my bitcoin? on: December 07, 2015, 06:16:43 PM
Sorry to butt in, your getting great advice. Just wanted to mention DO NOT DELETE OR UNINSTALL THE APP!!! Right now you have the private key that corresponds to the receiving address you sent money to. You do not want to loose that private key. As long as you have the private key this will all work out.

You may also want to go to blockchain.info and do a search of the public key (receiving address) that the BTC was sent to. You should be able to see it sitting there.

2180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: They have stolen bitcoins from my official Bitcoin wallet on: December 07, 2015, 05:47:02 PM
With Bitcoin you are the boss! That not only means you are in charge, but that you must work. Bitcoin security is no better than your security. If used correctly it is miles above the bank's security system. However if you do not protect your private key then no other methods matter.

I don't know how this happened to you, but someone must have gotten that key. Consider who else has access to your computer. Think about where you store your private key. This breach may not involve malware at all. Also, Think about a more secure OS like Linux.

Sorry to hear about your loss.
Look at the picture from my 2nd wallet:
http://tinypic.com/r/ddsw0/9
There is no address in transaction. The label "недоступно" means "no acsess"
It seems it's pretty strange
No information about the transaction? That is strange. You did a lot of things right, using the long password with no words. That rules out guessing your password. You are using good anti-malware. That makes malware a little less likely.
If you wrote the password in a document or on a slip of paper you may want to check the security on that document. It may also be worth asking yourself "who else knows I have bitcoins and has access to this computer"?
What a bummer. Can blockchain.info give you a Tx ID? That may give some more information.
