321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin | CPU Coin | Paid Dev Team | Limited Supply [MMC] on: April 23, 2014, 03:00:14 PM
Hey guys - I have a question for you all and for the dev team. Our MMC wallet did something REALLY weird yesterday.

I run AllCrypt.com, an exchange where MMC is traded. Users make addresses and each address in the wallet is attached to a user ID (via the account system in the wallet).

We received a deposit of 880 MMC yesterday to an address that we never made, that was not attached to a user. I assumed someone out there typo'ed an address and mis-sent us the MMC by mistake. I'd look into it later.

This morning I start getting errors that a user is trying to withdraw 100 MMC but it's failing because he does not have enough in his wallet. This sometimes happens with some odd orders where a rounding issue makes a wallet insolvent by 1 satoshi. I fix it, find the code error, and patch it up.

But this user's balance was at -780 MMC. Something that should not be possible.

So I looked at his transactions - and at the very same time he did a 120 MMC withdrawal yesterday, he ALSO did a 880.018 withdrawal to that weird address we saw the deposit enter yesterday.

NOTHING in our logs show that happening. NOTHING in our logs show that address. It's not a change address - those are not seen as deposits. A .07 MMC fee was paid for the transfer. Fees are not paid for change. There was no withdrawal initiated on our side for that amount.

Why did the MMC wallet randomly send 880 MMC from an account that did not even have 880 MMC, to an address in the same wallet?

Seriously concerning me. That should NOT happen.

But actually... after I wrote all that it looks like that MIGHT have been change...? But why was the change recorded as a send? With a paid fee?

The user withdrew 120 MMC, and the source seems to be from an address that had a 1000 MMC deposit - so the 880 change makes sense, but why was the change "sent" with a fee that entered the blockchain? For bitcoin, you can see the change transactions when looking at blockchain.info but NORMAL 'listtransactions' in the bitcoind RPC do not show change.

This is showing as an ACTUAL send - like an intentional send from an address.

Unfortunately, both block explorers are down so I cant even show the transactions.

We're having tons of issues with user deposits and withdrawals. We're on the latest version from github (60300) but SEEM to be on a different blockchain?

Havent gotten any answers anywhere. As I write this our highest block is 301323 but have two users with deposits that never arrived, and a user with a withdrawal that never made it out. Our block ARE updating. But the difficulty is .00279389 leading me to believe we're on a fork with just a very few small users mining.

But we've deleted and redownloaded the blockchain. Twice.

And still NOT right. The current block explorer says we should be somewhere in the 322k range for blocks.

So how the hell do we get off the damn fork and get our wallets working right again? There is no other wallet version to use. The git hasnt been updated in 2 months, and we added the coin just 2-3 weeks ago.

So whats going on?

Looks like CoinAccel and richela, legendarycoin and I are all on the same chain. My user with the issue, and cryptodave are obviously not (as he was hundreds of blocks ahead of me over an hour before I checked mine).

dev, I transferred 1million coins to allcrypt..
now there gone into thin air because of YOUR fuck up ...
It's the blockchain and the APPARENT fork that happened when you released two incompatable versions.
and who updated the github repository without ever updating the user wallets??
do you realize the mess you have made?

not only are my 1 million coins lost ...
but this can happen to thousands of people who have wallets and try to transfer coins without being on this supposed 8.7 ...
which there is not even a link on your website or OP page AS OF THIS MOMENT.
because I downloaded both links the OP link also the website link so I know!
please tell me your going to make good here?
this is soooo god damn frustrating!

this is why more and more miners are ignoring new coins and demanding you earn your stripes first ...
before we donate hash and equipment to your cause!
so we don't become victums to crap like this!

To be completely clear - he has the 8.6.something wallet - the only windows (I asume?) wallet he can find.

The source on github compiles to 8.7.1

He is a few hundred blocks ahead of me and his coins never made it to my blockchain.

Neither of us is sure WHO is on the 'right' version or has any idea how to fx it.

Is there a block explorer? What block SHOULD we be on? If we're working fine now I'm happy to reopen the coin - but we have NO way of knowing.

It would be more honest to charge a fee to deposit coins into an exchange than withdraw them. Nobody wants hidden charges but exchange operators.

Because there's no blockchain fee for a deposit.

We dont charge "hidden" withdrawal fees to screw users (or hidden fees at all). We charge them because the blockchain charges them and the fees need to come from somewhere. Our DOGE wallet was insolvent by about 320 DOGE because we were UNDERcharging withdrawal fees. I had to move 320 of my personal DOGE into the system to bring it back into balance.

Its not a screw the user fee.

3.
Code:
./legendarycoind gettransaction fda55db42763d78e60acc40b1c690c872d67bb241b2934847ac6439899aedf10
error: {"code":-5,"message":"No information available about transaction"}
is correct, the user has the issue not you.
4. Our codebase is fine and there is no real issue except for believing everyone who comes to you with a TXID
5. Welcome to the fun world of running an exchange

So then what is the issue? This user in particular is someone I know in person. We attend bitcoin meetups together - he's not someone trying to screw with us.
334  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LGD Legendary Coin - PoW/PoS, 4 exchanges, CRYPTSY VOTING ADDED! on: April 21, 2014, 03:41:10 PM
Just remember you signed up for this nightmare as soon as you opened. I also think the first exchange that doesn't charge to withdraw coins after trading is going to the moon.
BTW I didn't read the older posts until just now so don't take it personal. Remember when your going to blow a gasket. This too shall pass.

I really need to know - why do everyone's panties get in a bunch over withdrawal fees? BTC withdrawal fees are the highest fees in the Crypto Universe, and right now they amount to about 30 cents.

LGD's withdrawal fees are like .02. If we charge that exactly, that equates to roughly 9% of one US penny.

Our exchange will go to the moon if we save users less than 1/10th of one single US penny on a withdrawal?

I just don't understand that logic. I'm not criticizing, but transfer fees of altcoins are absurdly low. But over and over I hear how sites, mine included, "rips people off" on withdrawal fees.

I've never seen anyone get in a fight over a penny before. Over less than a 10th of a penny.

Anyway - it's a slow day here. And I just had an idea. And we're going to update the withdrawal fee system and make it dynamic - something I apparently never thought to do before. We already log all fees paid anyway.
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LGD Legendary Coin - PoW/PoS, 4 exchanges, CRYPTSY VOTING ADDED! on: April 21, 2014, 04:09:36 AM
That sounds like a fishy exchange. Did they say why they are stuck? I suspect wallet issues as we are all having them with the upgrades.

Yeah I said exactly why the hell they are stuck like 5 posts up. The goddamned wallet wont sync correctly. And yes I'm testy and in a bad mood because for the last 3 days like 5 different coins have had wallet issues, and WE get yelled at and WE look fishy and WE are called theives because wallets we have no control over go batshit. And users submit tickets with titles like "Where the F are my coins?!" and "Give me my coins back you goddamned theives!!" and that crap gets REALLY old when it's due to someone else's wallet.

I have a user who made a deposit - a non-jackass user who actually provided info and didnt accuse us of theft.

Transaction ID: fda55db42763d78e60acc40b1c690c872d67bb241b2934847ac6439899aedf10

The exchange's wallet is on block 13167. Since there's no block explorer I have no idea what it should be. My personal wallet on another machine is also on 13167.

But looking for txid fda55db42763d78e60acc40b1c690c872d67bb241b2934847ac6439899aedf10 gives:
error: {"code":-5,"message":"No information available about transaction"}

Both the exchange and my personal wallet are on 1.0.4.0

So I have no answers. And when asking for answers I was basivally told to manually export thousands of private keys and rebuild the wallet by hand. That is HOURS of work that we don't have.

So, we took the coin offline. At least if it's offline we're not being threatened because we're "stealing" coins.

As to the guy above for whom we are holding coins - as soon as LEGENDARYCOIN fixes the issue, we'll fix the issue. It's not us holding them hostage. If a user sends coins in and they don't arrive - you REALLY don't want us sending coins to you. God knows where they'd end up.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ♦ [ ANN ][ MIM ] ♦ Magic Internet Money ♦ MERGE MINE WITH FRK NOW! ♦ on: April 21, 2014, 03:42:22 AM
Testy

So I reinstalled the wallet using another download and this time Iam getting no syncing and showing total blocks of 0 of 173773 blocks estimate, so what was working isnt

I will have to play with this more..

There are alot of links out there to MIM and they all need to be updated for the most part to include the new wallet download ... after this issue is corrected of course.

How about it defaced, do you have a recommendation?

I was about to say I'm not being testy, but honestly - yes I am. We have 150 coins on AllCrypt and I spent the last 3 days NOT working on new code, but fixing dumb wallet problems that shouldn't be happening. Yes, I understand forks and crap happens - but *I* get yelled at and insinuated a thief, when a blockchain I have no control over freaks out.

Then I post my symptoms trying to get help, and I'm basically told I'm wrong, because that couldnt possibly be true.

The 13th time that happens, yeah, I'm testy. Our damn LGD wallet today did something very similar and the "fix" I wasa told was to manually export all 2000 or so private keys, start over, and re-import the keys back in. What? Thats not an acceptable answer.

So, yes, I'm testy, because for days now, it's been this kinda stuff with wallets. And being yelled at by users for stealing their coins. Rarely do I get a "made a deposit, didnt show up, help?" email. 90% of the time its "Hey, where the F are my coins?!"

It gets real old real fast.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ♦ [ ANN ][ MIM ] ♦ Magic Internet Money ♦ MERGE MINE WITH FRK NOW! ♦ on: April 20, 2014, 05:54:39 PM
We are on the most current version, yet are stuck on block 187583, while the block explorer says it should be 187,963?

Had a user send us coins that arent arriving... yet everything LOOKS ok... is there a fork?

No Fork
I just checked and Iam syncing fine: Up to date Processed 188026 blocks

You might give debug and "repair wallet" a try

What would repairing the wallet have to do with the blockchain being stuck a few hundred blocks behind?

Just because YOU are syncing fine doesnt mean that everyone else is.

Can you post your node list? I've seen this happen before where others didnt update, and I've been stuck on a bad chain.
338  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] LGD Legendary Coin - PoW/PoS, 4 exchanges, CRYPTSY VOTING ADDED! on: April 20, 2014, 05:11:36 PM
Wow. Thats about 4 hours of work I dont have the time for anytime this week.

I already downloaded the entire blockchain all over again.

Our wallet is also encrypted - so the PoS blocks cant be minted? Thats my understanding?

Are you seriously telling me the only way to fix this is to backup every one of the thousand+ private keys and manually repair the wallet? If thats the case, we're taking the coin offline, and in a week or two when we have that kind of time I'll see if we can get it fixed.

Wow, thats... I'm beyond words.

Hey legend folks - we stopped syncing sometime yesterday - and a user made a deposit that never arrived. I noticed we were a few hundred blocks behind, and I saw there was a new version.

I upgraded it, restarted it, and deleted the blockchain to be safe... but now we're stuck at block 11927 and won't go past there. 5 connectoins. Version 1.0.4.0

Any clue?
