321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whatever happens, hold on to your Bitcoin. on: November 11, 2023, 04:12:54 AM
Indeed. Why is it a big deal now? For numerous times, the SEC has rejected spot Bitcoin ETF applications. As a matter of fact, they denied all of them. Have we panic sold our Bitcoin? Did Bitcoin stop reaching new ATHs? Of course, not.

Today's rejection means a new application tomorrow and so on until such point comes when one is finally approved. When that happens, the others will also be approved. In other words, it's always a matter of when.

There's no reason to lose hope. There's already a futures Bitcoin ETF in the US. There's already spot Bitcoin ETF in other countries. There's no reason why a spot Bitcoin ETF won't get into the US market.
It is big news if a first Bitcoin Spot ETF is approved in USA after many times of rejection. After having a Bitcoin Futures ETF in USA. people must be realistic to think that there will be a Bitcoin Spot ETF in USA. When, is only a matter of time!

There are more things are building to help Bitcoin becomes better in technology that is a root cause to bring it to more people. Investors through Bitcoin Spot ETFs are not regular users on Bitcoin on-chain network. They only bring money, capital in Bitcoin market but capital can be in and out, it does not stay in this market forever.

But if Bitcoin has a solid adoption growth, it will have a bigger market and value, price will increase organically, not with short term FOMO like with Bitcoin Spot ETF news.
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Holding for long might not be the best option. on: November 09, 2023, 01:16:58 PM
Correct. We don't know what everyone thinks, if someone deliberately buys Bitcoin every month and at any price with long-term investment goals, it doesn't matter, he also buys using DCA every month. However, compared to cutting loss and then buying at the lower price, it is also good. This decision only they are capable of making. I myself have also bought Bitcoin at a price of $20k and then Bitcoin plunged, I didn't sell and just kept it. Then I bought again when Bitcoin was at $7k until now I am still get the profit
If the market is going to move around all time high in a bull run, it's not good idea to DCA. I know we can not find an all time high or a bottom of each market cycle and we only know about those prices after they appear a long time. We know about all time high when bull market gone and we are in a bear market for a while. We know about a bottom when a bear market gone for a while and we are in a new bull run.

Stop DCA when you think price is too high, greed is too high and you can wait for bear market to DCA in order to maximize profit from DCA strategy. From all time high, Bitcoin usually hits its bottom after 80% correction.
323  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: OpenCEX, a Free Open-Source Crypto Exchange Engine on: November 09, 2023, 11:03:25 AM
OpenCEX can move this thread to a more relevant board. I agree with you that a Project development board is good for it now.

When the exchange officially goes live and operates, the OpenCEX team can create a new thread and choose a Service Announcements for that new thread.

"No-KYC exchanges built easier".
When they release the exchange, the team can submit a request to https://kycnot.me/ team to list OpenCEX on that website. It will be like a free marketing on kycnot.me website that is a destination of non KYC enthusiasts.
324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Holding for long might not be the best option. on: November 09, 2023, 10:18:21 AM
There has been several occasions of people saying buy and hold without consedring the negative effect it has impacted on many people live. Lets take for instance, when bitcoin was at ATH of about $69k somany people bought at same price expecting it to hit $100k and above while some baugh at the price when it was 40, 50, $60k conservatively. When it was going down to even $20k people keep on holding.
If they bought at $69,000, they must do it with reasons like they believe Bitcoin will make a new all time high, higher than $69,000. If they hold, they must have reasons to hold it.

The challenge for them is now, in 2023 and only 6 months till halving, do they still have same belief and reasons to continue holding their bitcoin?

If their belief is the same like 2 years ago, they don't have painful feeling now. If you can not hold, you can not get rich but it is not enough. To hold and get rich successfully, an investor must pick a correct asset. It is not correct choice if they pick altcoins but it's very smart and correct choice to pick Bitcoin.

325  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Low Liquidity Altcoins on: November 09, 2023, 10:10:23 AM
You should definitely distinguish between "trade" and "invest" here. One of my golden rules is never to trade low market cap coins (I never trade anything under 1 billion market cap). With such coins, the swings can be triggered by very small orders and shoot you out of the market, so they are much more difficult to assess than Bitcoin, ETH and co.
With small cap coins, people think they can find hidden gems but they have to gamble with hidden gems that mostly won't make them a fortune but big loss. Small cap coins can be from small developers team with limited resources to build up their projects and don't have good marketing too.

Big cap coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum are safest choices in cryptocurrency market and if an investor can hold Bitcoin or Ethereum, profit will come. Less risk, more safety and profit is like guarantee. They will not find it with hidden gems and risk to lose money through hidden gems is very big.

With small cap coins, small trading volume and big buying or selling order can cause price change a lot. Big investors don't pick hidden gems as their most favorite because of price slip from their big orders.
326  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Low Liquidity Altcoins on: November 09, 2023, 05:01:05 AM
Hi, does anyone know where I can trade coins such as PLSX? I can not find it in Mexc (and it is one of the exchanges with more coins listed).
If it does not appear on centralized exchange, only is available for trading at decentralized exchange, it is risky if you have the token. Because liquidity pools on decentralized exchanges provided by developers, the project team can be rug-pulled anytime. If they do a rug pull, token you have will become zero value.

327  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: blockchain.com EARN commission 7 % on: November 08, 2023, 01:36:58 AM
what do you guys think of blockchain.com they are offering on EARN 7 % commision ,  this company has been in the game since 2011 is guess that proves it thrustworthy  company ?
It is for USDT, not for Bitcoin.

USDT is more risky than Bitcoin. Even the 7% is not like a too good to be true commission rate, holding your cryptocurrency on a centralized platform like Blockchain.com is still risky.

You can not trust any people, any platform to store your money. Don't forget what happened in 2022 with Terra, FTX exchange, Three Arrows Capital, Celsius, Voyager and bankruptcies from banks in 2023.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts.
328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin? on: November 08, 2023, 01:31:37 AM
There is no such thing as a good moment to invest in bitcoin. Every day is the correct time, as is the day you decided to invest in bitcoin. Don't allow someone trick you into thinking you can purchase bitcoin at a cheaper price than it is today; if you do, you will almost certainly miss out at that price and won't be able to buy at that price again, but only at a higher price.
Many conditions for one individual investment and let me assume with a same condition, that capital investment is from money you don't need to use for life expense, emergency because you already have other money source reserves for it.

With this assumption, a good time for your investment in Bitcoin will be around two times.

First, a several months before a Bitcoin halving because you will have both, cheap price and don't have to wait too long for a big bull run.
Second, after a Bitcoin halving because bull run usually starts and reaches its peak like 6 or 9 months before a halving.

If you decide to be in with a second time, after a halving, you must be very carefully with profit taking. If you hold your bitcoin too long, you will miss a bull run and will stuck in a bear market that lasts two or three years.
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does a rotation of a DCA HODLing account wallet, guarantee safety from hackers? on: November 08, 2023, 12:55:58 AM
Why do you believe so, i don't believe that you have to be a whale to secure your wallet, i am not a whale but i protect my BTC's well. The tools that you can use as extra layers of security is available to everyone. You can easily set up a multisig wallet in Electrum or extend your seed phrase with a passphrase. If you have an old laptop, you can easily convert it into an airgapped device, you must not have thousands of BTC's to do this.
Whales or not whales, if a wallet is not secured properly enough, it can be exploited and when exploitation, compromise happens, you will lose all bitcoins in that wallet.

No hacker will have sympathy to steal only part of your bitcoins in one wallet. If they successfully access to a victim's wallet, they will move all bitcoins in that wallet to their own wallet. To avoid risk to be detected by the victim, they will move all bitcoins with only one Bitcoin transaction and even will use very high transaction fee rate to get a quick first confirmation.

With Bitcoin blockchain, with one confirmation, your bitcoins will belong to the hacker.
330  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: The scope for growth in stablecoins is much greater than that of Tether on: November 08, 2023, 12:52:52 AM
This is by no means substantially limited, how can the $ exchange rate slowly depreciate year after year? You also can't compare all existing cryptocurrencies with just dollars, in fact all countries have their own fiat with (again) unlimited printable amounts.
When the dollar's depreciation rate is too slow, perhaps the issuing company will create another Xfiat-pegged stablecoin. On the other hand, if fiat can really be set limited then the law of supply and demand applies in the crypto market. Banks don't have to print more.
Governments don't care about inflation in long run and they only want to reduce problems from short term inflation on their political career and their chances to be promoted in their career. With this mindset, it's hard to have well-thought economic policies from governments and their staffs.

They have every tool requires to make inflation and their citizens can not stop them. The coming tsunami of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDCs) will make inflation of fiat currencies worse.

Stable coins are different stories as they operate on blockchains, with smart contracts. You will not have stable coins on Proof of Work network because stable coin companies have need to mint new supply for their stable coins when they want. Proof of Work blockchain can not help them to Mint new stable coins instantly like this.

Because they can mint new token supply when they want, their stable coin values can be not stable. We don't know when a stable coin peg will be de-pegged.
331  Other / Meta / Re: Signature campaign as a creation of bitcointalk on: November 07, 2023, 10:34:41 AM
I believe that the popularity that signature campaigns gained on the forum was due to the fact that at the time they appeared, almost no money was really spent on advertising.

Paying 0.001 per post was almost the same as what you would earn in half a dozen clicks on a faucet. In turn, obtaining Bitcoin was not extremely difficult. With a few hours/days of mining on your PC at home, you could earn enough BTC to pay for several weeks of advertising.

Anyway, as the focus was on circulating BTC, people did not do this for the sake of money/value gained, but rather to obtain more BTC. This makes this model grow together with the community, and ends up becoming an incredible advertising model in this forum and almost unique.
I was not here years ago but thinking deeply and logically, I believe people who did this probably for two main purposes.

To help Bitcoin increases its exposure to more people, then help Bitcoin adoption.
To help their business gets access to a new potential customer population.

Who did it years ago actually did not think too much about how far Bitcoin can go and how big effects from their signature campaigns for their business.
332  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to invest 8k for passive income. on: November 07, 2023, 10:27:04 AM
You’re not going to get passive income with an $8000 investment. You are here on a bitcoin forum so you are clearly at least slightly interested in cryptocurrency. Just buy bitcoin & be patient for many years. It’s boring & not what you want to hear but you will beat pretty much every other investment class over long term.
Investment if is planned with good approach, would be long term. Good investment can help an investor to make a fortune and part of it can be their passive income when they cash out. However, to gain considerable profit, an investor usually must hold their invested assets long enough so taking profit regularly to have passive income is not a good idea. By taking profit, small part of your investment like this, you will never make a fortune with an investment.

I only take profit when I get like x2 or x3 of my initial capital, and I feel a necessary reason to take profit partially to get my initial capital.
333  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Things to avoid as a beginner on: November 07, 2023, 01:11:20 AM
Trading merit is against the forum rules, so doing such will have severe consequences. Although I have never received such messages but I will distrust any member that sends such personal messages to me.
Trading merit is discouraged by forum community because it helps shit posters, farm accounts to rank up. After they rank up from merit farming, they will spam in forum and makes the forum worse in quality.

Trading merit is not prohibited by forum rules but are forum rules important or is community voice more important?
- Giving negative trust for merit trading and deceptive alt-account use may be appropriate, but you should use a light touch so that people don't feel paranoid.

If the "gaming" takes the form of strategically sending a lot of merit, creating sockuppets, and stuff like that, then no. That sort of gaming might get me to blacklist people, in fact. But if it looks more like politics, then that's OK, and that's what H8bussesNbicycles's thread looks like to me.

The current status quo seems OK. If you have to pay $20 per merit plus a risk of getting red trust, then that's a situation that doesn't concern me at all. I'm not going to lose sleep over people going to ridiculous lengths to buy merit, since only a small number of people will be willing and able to do that.

As long as merit sales are a black market, I'm happy, since that makes it far more difficult and expensive to buy merit. If that's the case, then the small volume of black-market merit trades don't themselves bother me much, and I think that it does more harm than good to get too witch-hunty about it.
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Investment, Beyond "Invest What You Can Afford to Lose" on: November 07, 2023, 01:01:12 AM
The phrase "invest what you can afford to lose" has long been the go to advice when it comes to Bitcoin investments.
The principle of investment is applied for all types of investment, not only applied for Bitcoin investment or cryptocurrency investment.

If you can not afford to lose your money because your investment goes to a wrong way, you should simply keep your cash at home. Keep it at home, don't keep it at bank accounts because when banks have bankruptcies, you can lose your money in bank accounts.

With Bitcoin investment, after you buy it, you must do another vital step, move your bitcoin (withdraw) it from your exchange account to your own wallet, non custodial, open source to keep it safe by yourself. You have private key and you can control, secure your bitcoin.

How to back up a seed phrase
335  Economy / Gambling / Re: Duelbits.com | Casino & Sportsbook | VIP | Instant withdrawals!|ARGENTINA & AVFC on: November 06, 2023, 06:31:08 AM
Yeah, special events indeed increase the traffic in the casinos and that is one of the reasons that most of the notable casino always organize such events to keep the attention of the community on their platform and this is one marketing way that have helped to increase the overall wagering I amount of and in the casinos at most times.
Big tournaments, big matches, big events are very good chances for casinos to host events with big awards for winners. It can help them to build up stronger loyalty of their current users and also can help them to expand to new users.

It potentially can help they gain more income after those big events when new users will bring more money to the casinos, bet and contribute for the casino growth.

Quote
But then dull bits is one casino that has built their platforms and good reputations for itself,  which have kept the volume of wager on the casino very high and sustainable,  not many casinos that match up with its standards in the market today.
Experienced and careful people will choose platforms will good reputation to use because they know companies can scam any time. Safety for their capital first so choosing a trusted platform will help them to stick with the principle.
336  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 06, 2023, 01:36:45 AM
Arsenal needs to work on their performance because their loosing of points is get very serious if which they continue they may not even end to be among the first top four of the league. After the match Arsenal managed to defeat Manchester city they have been finding is difficult to win other big teams in premier league. Arsenal players are playing very well as a team but they are having problems when it comes to making of goals for sometime now. Arsenal next game is against Burnley a team at the bottom of the league,  I hope this shouldn't be too difficult for them, this must be a game they need to gain a full point from.
Arsenal were unlucky to have that conceded goal against Newcastle United even VAR engaged in analysis before the referee made his decision to accept the goal for Newcastle United. It is a controversial situation and I believe it is not a goal but the match ended, VAR and referee made a wrong decision which can not be changed.

Even with VAR, mistakes can be made and I really dislike VAR. I love the traditional style without VAR because it makes matches more emotional without long breaking time for VAR checking.

Luiz diaz has become a savior for liverpool. I don't even expect liverpool would be struggling against luton town. It's an unpredictable result for sure. I thought that liverpool would be winning with huge scores against luton town. Although Luton town's ball possession statistics were not impressive, this club has the ability to further complicate the situation by launching counter-attacks against Liverpool. It seems like that there will be more clubs to follow the counter attack strategy that specialized use low blocks.
Liverpool was almost losing in this game.
Liverpool are playing better than the past season and one of biggest contributors for their performances so far is less injury cases in their club. In the last season, players like Luiz Diaz, Jota and other players missed many months because of serious injuries, many different injuries and spent more time in hospital than on field.

Diaz actually saved Liverpool and in his third season in Anfield, he gets more important role in the club. In Anfield, there is no longer attacking players like Firmino, Mane and Diaz was bought to replace those players. He is proving his ability and importance for Liverpool in this season.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do ledger wallet keys operate? on: November 06, 2023, 01:20:20 AM
Is it possible to use the send  toaddress and  get new address functions on my PC only if I have the wallet.dat file? I'm not interested in downloading the entire blockchain files. Can it be done?
You are using a non custodial wallet, that gives you private key of your wallet.
With private keys, you will be able to get public key, public address (receiving address).

It is your receiving address for other people to send bitcoin to you.

If you want to send your bitcoin to other people, you need their receiving addresses and you must ask them about those addresses.

Learn more about Keys, addresses in Mastering Bitcoin Book. Also read more in the Wallets chapter.
338  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Using TV( GOTV, DSTV) monthly subscription money to invest in bitcoin on: November 06, 2023, 01:12:25 AM
Given the increasing cost of TV subscriptions in my country like GOTV, DSTV, etc. I often find myself watching the same movies every month. Sometimes, I can't even watch them due to a lack of power supply, making me feel like I'm wasting my money.
With Internet nowadays, with Youtube, with free learning courses and more, I no longer need to use television many years. Honest with you, I never watched television many years and I even don't have the need for it. I agree with you that it is a waste of money if what you intend to use your television is only for watching movies.

It will be different if you subscribe it for your children to learn English, living skills and more, which are helpful for your children and you can continue to do it. If you don't use television at home this way, it's a waste of money.

Quote
So, I've had an idea: what if I were to invest the money I usually spend on my GOtv subscription, which often goes unused, into Bitcoin?
What do you all think about this idea?
You can do it if television is not actually helpful for you and your children. I don't spend too much time daily for entertainment and I don't need television as said.
339  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A milestone of introducing and initiating a friend to Bitcoin investments on: November 05, 2023, 09:35:36 AM
Please share with me if the introduction of the "Crypto online demo trading app" would have had the tendencies of risk impact on my friend.
From demo trading to actual trading, big difference.

With demo trading, you don't lose anything and you don't have to care about market movement, loss in demo trading is not actual loss and don't make you stressful. Profit in demo trading is not actual profit and you don't feel greed with it.

You don't have to be serious when choosing a platform to use demo trading but if it is your real capital, be more careful. If you choose a scam platform, you will lose your money to them.

Reminder: do not keep your money in online accounts.
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: November 05, 2023, 05:40:31 AM
It was a very entertaining match. Newcastle team had a great performance in the home match. Their performance was very composed from the start of the match. Newcastle players played well. Even then I thought the match would probably be a draw. But Arsenal's players failed to break Newcastle's strong defense. Although Newcastle did not play well at the beginning of the season, this team is in very good form. They have managed to maintain consistency like last season.
Arsenal and Newcastle United have different beginnings in this season but Newcastle United, after poor start now only have four points less than Arsenal. They are ready to enter top four in next few weeks if they continue to play well and Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa have bad results in coming weeks.

Table shows under Newcastle United, there are Brighton and Manchester United with 18 points. Brighton don't have stable performance but it is already too good for a small club like them. They are continuing to repeat their success in the last season and can have another successful season with a qualified ticket at the end to join Europa League or Conference League in Europe.

Quote
On the other hand, Arsenal lost 5 points in the last three matches and fell behind in the title race. It's been easy for Tottenham to retake the top spot in the table. Tottenham will go top of the table if they beat Chelsea in their next match.
Arsenal can argue that it is an unfair defeat for them but the match ended, result can not be reverted so they have to move on and play more carefully if they really want to compete for a first position. With good forms of Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool, any mistake and points lost can cause big problems for Arsenal in this tough race with other competitors.
