Guys, stupid question alert here...
I want to claim my BCH and i am downloading electron cash. I click it to open it and it says "this file is encrypted, Enter your password or choose another file"
Why does it say this if I haven't downloaded it before?
I'm sure it's something simple but I'm a bit dumb.

Do you guys expect some fireworks to watch when segwit gets activated in about 5,5 hours?  Im off 2 bed soon and wondering if i should set an alarm I personally do not think so. It's been no secret that it will be activated. I think it's all priced in. I am off to bed soon too and when I wake up I wouldn't be surprised seeing it slightly lower than it is now! This is Bitcoin! |

Have Xapo and Coinbase and such released their BCH's to users yet? I'm sure there will be a pump before that happens. And a monumental dump when they do.
I thought Coinbase was January. |

Using blockchain.info with paper wallets, what a strange idea !
Really? I find if I want to set up a new paper wallet or move my coins then blockchain.info is best. You need a middle man. Maybe he wants to empty his paper wallet and set a new one up to claim BCH using his empty wallet priv key That's all I can think of |

I'm beginning to wonder if the masses will every start buying, or if Bitcoin will only remain a niche investment. What would it take to see something like a line of people out the door in front machines like that one? Perhaps one day hyperinflation will kick in, or a total fiat collapse. Maybe then that will wake them up.
The vast majority of people either have never heard of Bitcoin or are barely aware of its existence. Most of those who know about it don't really understand it. Ignorance breeds fear and apprehension. It certainly doesn't lead to people putting in their hard-earned money. This is why public adoption is so low and why we're still basically in the early adopter phase. As public awareness and education grows. so will adoption. The s-curve of adoption is still a long way from going vertical. When that happens, we'll see the 6-digit prices many speculate about. Is this a good wallet to use to be middle man when creating a new paper wallet?
I.e. Moving coins from one paper wallet to a new one.

I have no idea what to think. Maybe I have got too used to seeing ATHs every 6 and a half minutes and holding between 3800-4200 is a good thing for a while.

Ok then let me post this and I expect some of you to call me an idiot here but here goes.
I have paper wallets and my plan to get BCH is this...
1. Create new paper wallets and using bitcoin core wallet as a middle man I'll transfer stash to new paper wallets.
2. Use a BCH software wallet and insert my old private keys (that are now empty)
(Which BCH wallet do I use? Is there more than one?)
3. When I want to trade them, send them to Kraken.
What am I missing?

Well then, you are just in it to make more fiat. Like the stock market, you don't really care about the underlying asset. Not saying that is good or bad. But then I would say you are definitely not one of the minds that are reinforcing Bitcoin's belief system as a (better?) form of money. Also what, pray tell, will you do, when someone decides to fork BCH? Oh the decisions, decisions. Tsk tsk... I don't think you read my whole post Torque. I said I'd rather not have fiat. To be honest my goal is bricks and mortar. This I'd like to buy property with bitcoin. Also yes I do believe in what bitcoin is it's just maybe I don't fully understand the difference between all the different cryptos. |

I'm not a BCH supporter but I don't think this is going away guys. Yes it may drop Back to 200-300-400 or whatever but this coin will be pumped at various times in the months to come IMO.
I am risking hodling this coin. How many other Alts pumped at the beginning and then lay dormant for ages before blasting up? Answer- the majority of them.
With Jihan and Ver in charge I can't see it failing like you all think. Didn't a lot of people say after the exchanges opened be quick to sell as it's going to plummet down to "cents"?
As I've said, I'll hodl as I think this alt will go up and shock/upset a few later on, manipulated or not.
Belief <> price. Or maybe for guys like you it does? I'm not certain of the anxiety you seem to be feeling. I make no secrets of why I got involved with bitcoin. I know some people here are die hard core supporters but I am totally neutral. I understand what's happening with all the politics and how to use btc etc but when it comes down to the very inner workings I get a bit lost. I can see the dislike for BCH and ver and wu. The whole situation pisses me off too but I am here firstly to make money, or should I say increase my investments. I'd rather not turn my profits to fiat at all. All I am saying is I am hedging my bets and hodling both to see the outcome. If BCH gets pumped to the moon then great. It's not as low as all the core fans said it would go so I think I'll make my own decisions with BCH from now on. I am not a core supporter or WuVer coin fanboy. I am neutral. |
