321  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you like or hate Royal symbols on bitcoin slots? on: June 04, 2021, 10:57:49 PM
When playing slots I care for graphics and overall experience, gambling is about fun and spending a good time, after all, isn't it? So yeah, graphics, colors, themes contribute to the overall experience. There is an extremely wide range of slots these days, so for any kind of payout you are likely to find many slots with different themes, so why bother with the boring ones?  Cheesy
IMO slots with royals aren't really interesting, a lot depends on the provider also. I personally really like Relax, Yggdrasil, and Thunderkick.
322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Satoshi ever come forward? on: June 04, 2021, 10:22:37 PM
There are no pros and cons here, IMO. What he created is what matters most, from his posts we can have some kind of imagination of what kind of person he was. But why does it matter who is he or she exactly? That knowledge will change nothing. On the other hand, he's a billionaire, declaring identity will have consequences, Satoshi would no longer live calmly, he'd worry whether some idiots will break this night into his house and try to steal all the money, he'd have to become a public personality, hire security...who needs all that?
Without exposure Satoshi can maintain a calm life, with no media involved, making gossips around every move. Right now Satoshi is rich, famous, and anonymous, what else can you wish for?
323  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Augur adds sportsbetting on: June 04, 2021, 09:53:30 PM
Smart move, I'm sure that some bettors will definitely be attracted to this platform, due to their ability to reduce fees, given that recently that became sort of a problem. Also, the name means a lot, they have a decent reputation, people will follow.
It is. Why stay as it is rather than adding sportsbetting to attract more people also they already for run longer time compared to new ones. If I we're in the same situation with the owner  I would do it too but for some other matters is that analysis must be done first. When it comes in sportsbetting, many people bet on sports especially in my country where there are people here who bet on NBA physically and whoever lose pay the winner.
What's there to analyze? Basically, they already have the target audience, that's why the idea is so great, because initially the platform was built for predictions, so all the people that use it or heard of it are interested in predicting one or another event. Logically, these people would be interested in sports betting as well, especially because you can earn money from it.
324  Economy / Economics / Re: A bubble is when price is not justified on: June 04, 2021, 09:31:18 PM
On one hand, I agree with you, a bubble is when someone buys something just because, out of hype, people create this valuable "air" and want to make money, expecting that others will act the same, but in reality, they wouldn't have bought that item for even 1/10th of the current price, for instance.

On the other hand, that gave a thought about art and public sales. Say There's a certain painting, not even by a world-renown artist, and the price is pumped by several orders of magnitude just within hours, people surely aren't thinking about the real value at that time, they just want the thing. Isn't that a little like a bubble?
If you're in an auction place the scenario is really different and everything is a hype, because you have the pride and willing to do everything just to get the art that you want even if its not real value at all, aside from a well know artist. Bubble always happen on a hype project, we've seen many of this already in cryptomarket and if you are looking at some meme tokens now, you'll see that some of them already burst.
Yeah, but how does that differ from tulip mania? It was also just a hype and pride, but turned into an enormous bubble. The biggest problem here is that there's no such thing as value, objectively speaking. It is always people that define the value of things. Sometimes the value rises very fast and people can't even realise themselves if they truly value the thing or do they just want it at the moment.

But I'm not sure about this
Prediction markets rely on the idea of the “wisdom of the crowd” or the idea that a collective group of people will have a more accurate assessment of a market than any lone expert.

In my experience, no matter what audience and question you take - more usually the majority is wrong because most of these people are no experts, it's natural that they don't have enough expertise to make valid assumptions. Now, if we take a group of experts - that's another matter. But as far as I understand it, with this action the Augur will attract more of an ordinary crowd.

327  Economy / Economics / Re: Way's to improve growth economics on: June 03, 2021, 09:43:29 PM

My favourite part out of the list is probably 3. End the war on drugs - I would fully support if my country would look into this issue. If milder drugs like cannabis would be legalised than a whole new area for the economy would be created. Just look at Netherlands for example, the have a huge tourist area just for smoking, so many coffee shops and people just go there for a weekend to relax. The good thing would also be that the quality increases if it can be planted legally and under government supervision. And of course the government can earn more money through taxes.
I agree with you on this. Also, drugs can have a huge positive impact on the healthcare system. It is well known and have been proved numerous times and presented in research papers, that drugs, when used in the proper dosage, can improve mental health. For instance, a substance called CBD in cannabis helps to cope with anxiety disorders, and psilocybin, present in hallucinogenic mushrooms has been shown to be effective in treating depression and alcohol and tobacco addiction.
Allowing to use these substances at least in medical purposes would benefit the overall population health.
328  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Would you bet on climbing challenges on: June 03, 2021, 09:26:23 PM
I love to watch extreme sports, including climbing, this gives you a lot of chills. I think the betting option would be a nice supplement to watching this sport - double the excitement and thrill.
I've searched for some info regarding extreme sports betting, but haven't found the websites that can offer this  Cry
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk Tweeting Power gone on: June 03, 2021, 08:35:14 PM
He still has the ability to make something pump from his tweets. This was his tweet yesterday and doge suddenly pump when this was posted followed by coinbase pro listing dogecoin after few hours of Elon's tweet. I think most of his followers that still believe him of dogecoin's potential are newbie in crypto and who don't have any knowledge at all what it really is. We don't know what's the real motive of Elon behind these tweets. For me, I see it as a distraction for people to not buy bitcoin while he is accumulating.
Might have been just a coincidence, though. What's in this tweet about the doge or crypto? Also, lately among crypto hodlers there's a lot of hate directed against Musk, there are even jokes and news about it. I think he might be losing his word power due to recent manipulations now, so things can get better soon.
330  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Where to seek help if you need; concerned with gambling addiction. on: June 02, 2021, 11:44:44 PM
~
If you are going to check on it further there are a lot of shrinks that can be consulted for gambling addiction, addiction in general. I would be careful as to what these doctors will give you as treatment. For me, the advise and the plans of action would be sufficient. If they will give me a medicine or a supplement, then that is a whole different story. Some of these medicines that they prescribe might not be good for me. So I need to be sure that I will not drink any medicine nor buy the medicine that they recommend.
it is not about medicine mate , but about Mental help .. doctors expertise is mind control and not physical health.
But some doctors do prescribe medications for fighting gambling addiction, and in many cases the drugs work. For example, there are antidepressants and mood stabilizers which can mitigate the negative effects of compulsive gambling. And there are others that can help in fighting the addiction itself. Check this out:

Medications that have been found to be helpful in decreasing either the urge to gamble or the thrill involved in doing so include antiseizure medications like carbamazepine (Tegretol) and topiramate (Topamax), mood stabilizers like lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid), medications used to address addictions like naltrexone (ReVia), and antidepressants like clomipramine (Anafranil) and fluvoxamine (Luvox).

Actually curing gambling addiction is in principle the same as curing drug addiction. And my friend who is addicted to gambling has indeed come
to the doctor, because he has had difficulty dealing with his gambling addiction. It turned out that the doctor gave the drug Naltrexone which
functions to suppress the behavior of gambling addicts for an irresistible desire. The drug Naltrexone has been approved by the National Health
and Medical Research Council. Usually, if gambling addiction is in a severe category, it must be helped by coming to a psychiatrist for
psychological treatment.
Exactly! The problem is with the psychological addiction, and it doesn't matter what's the subject of addiction: drugs, gambling, games, etc. The only exception is with the drugs, because unlike other things, it can cause physical addiction, which requires a much more serious treatment.
Also, IMO psychiatric help comes as the first-line defense, and only in most severe cases, the medications should be prescribed.
331  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dealing with environmental impact on: June 02, 2021, 11:26:53 PM
Are you serious? So CO2 is now all of a sudden good for the environment? Then let's go all burn some more fossil fuels, save the environment!
Suppose the greenhouse effect is just a myth then... Do you even know of such things as proportion and balance? The plants can't handle that much CO2 in the atmosphere, it's exceeding the amount the plants can process by a large extent, that's the problem.

The environmental impact from Bitcoin is only good. How? Needing more electricity means:
- more electrical plants
- more jobs producing electricity
- more CO2 from the power plants
- plant growth in nature increasing from more CO2
- more food from plants allow the populations to grow
- we get more humidity from extra heat

Wtf? Water vapor increases the greenhouse effect. In fact, it accounts for the most part of it.
Quote
a warmer atmosphere places more moisture in the air to block the sun's overheating

No, it doesn't. Also, no ice -> no reflection of the sunlight -> more energy is absorbed -> the temperature rises.
Quote
most of the water from the polar caps melting goes into the air rather than the ocean

A very scarce amount of H2O2 is produced in that way, it's not even closely enough to affect bacterial growth and viruses.
Quote
- all the extra upper air moisture mixes with cosmic rays to produce more natural H2O2
- more H2O2 kills off a whole bunch of disease bacteria and so-called viruses

This is not a logical derivative of the previous statement (as well as all other statements, it's just a set of random crap). Also, no fighting diseases = no natural immunity.
Quote
the bodies of people don't have to work so hard at fighting diseases

This is just too much nonsense, can't even respond to that...
Quote
- the now unnecessary medical gets shut down so medical people can find something practical to do
- people start to live long
- longer life helps the highly intelligent people to think longer and better
- more geniuses from higher populations
- better space flight and crop-growing methods are developed by the geniuses
- the earth gets comfortably populated at 100 billion people
- by this time real working space flight has been developed
- populations start moving to the stars

Honestly, did you even go to school?
332  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gaming Scams during Pandemic. How to Stay Safe. on: June 02, 2021, 09:59:05 PM
This one I doubt. All cards have equal security. I don't think debit cards are less secure than credit cards. That would be a big issue.
yes, I think so too, but debit cards have advantages and disadvantages, if you use them in transactions, the disadvantages of debit cards are very
Most of us don't know that debit cards can be used 'double swipe' unconsciously the debit card has been swiped twice on the computer where you made the transaction and the data has been copied, For that reason, don't use a debit card if you make transactions on gambling sites that we don't know.
How does that happen? I know about the "double swipe", which can happen when someone makes purchases with the ECR, which increases the risk of card data exposure. But how does that work with transactions made online? There's no physical action, everything is done through the website.
Or do you mean something like redirection to other websites when making a payment, where you fill in all the card info in a form and then that form is sent to the frauds?
333  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Money Need Competition To Flourish on: June 01, 2021, 10:31:22 PM
Charles Darwin is famous for his observation of "survival of the fittest" leading to a healthier eco system. Under his narrative organisms compete. Those best suited to thrive under existing conditions pass on their genes.

Could this type of darwinism be applied to finance and money. Is a competitive environment for currencies and assets under markets favorable to society.
Absolutely! I love the comparison. WIthout the competitiveness, there's no growth, so if all the companies held a monopoly over a certain market sector - they wouldn't develop as fast and efficient as they're doing now.

In addition, we can see how harsh environmental conditions accelerate the "natural selection" among the companies. A good example is Ponzi Schemes. These are the companies that carry "bad genes". And when there are stressful conditions in the economy, e.g. inflation, depression - these are the first ones that burst and die. While the truly good companies, that have everything backed up survive.
334  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: June 01, 2021, 10:11:41 PM
Good thing that it wasnt really fake at all and they had chosen up a winner but that wont be enough to convince everyone.
I think the system actually works and people hearing that there was an actual winner gives them evidence that this all isn't a fake, which creates even more hype around this action, that's a good thing. I think even those who don't see the point in vaccination (except for the crazies that think the vaccine will kill them) can actually go and get one, just for the sake of money. So, in the end, almost everyone will be vaccinated.
It's not really good, that people still don't understand the importance of all this and act recklessly, but in terms of national health there really is no difference as to WHY they chose to take a vaccine shot, the fact that they actually did it is what matters.
335  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Gaming Scams during Pandemic. How to Stay Safe. on: June 01, 2021, 09:07:24 PM
Yeah, these gambling ads can be annoying, and, sure thing, many scams in there. That's why not only I don't respond to these emails, click on the links, but I don't even open them. Why bother? If I want to find an online gambling platform I do my own research, no need for these always good-looking ads. Also, if I see something like that I always mark it as "spam". As a result, many similar emails in the future go to the "spam" automatically. This makes things a lot easier.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: No new millionaires come from stock market in 2020/2021 on: June 01, 2021, 08:15:31 PM
I've read the OP's replies and some of the OP's previous posts. It seems to me, that it's pointless to argue with this person because they're under some kind of impression that China will take over the world and that soon there will be an end to the US stock market Cheesy

Interesting, if so..why are there 248 Chinese companies registered with NASDAQ and two other US biggest exchanges, with a total market cap of $2.1 trillion?

337  Economy / Economics / Re: Are you making money online? on: June 01, 2021, 06:47:27 PM
I started working online since high school as it was the only way to make some extra money while still keep on studying. It was all sorts of work: translation, designing logos, book covers, tutoring in different subjects, and also, probably because I was studying in a tech-inclined school, where we were taught a lot of programming, robotics, computer science, eventually I got to know the crypto world. I started investing a little, learning about Bitcoin, and getting more into economics.

Though my major specialty is biotech research, I'm still glad for all the work experience and knowledge I received online. And, especially it came in handy during the pandemic when it basically became the only option for earning money.

I still consider myself dedicated to natural sciences, but sometimes I like to distract a little, learn something new, acquire new skills, the last thing I'd want to be is a person, who's a pro in one single field, but has no idea what's going on in the world and can't talk about anything else but his/her interests.

An online job provides that opportunity and, in addition, gives some extra encouragement because apart from just learning you're getting paid Cheesy
338  Economy / Speculation / Re: FUD-slingers saying 20K this weekend... on: May 29, 2021, 09:35:58 PM
I'd say FUD. Who are these "big sellers" anyway? And cnbc, you've said it yourself - nonsense, and they seem to be the only ones that post about Scott Minerd, who even cares about what he says? It's not like he's the world's leading expert. His words might have a weight among some bankers and investors, but what's it to Bitcoin HODLers and regular folks that use crypto?
339  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ohio offering lottery prize worth one million for those that get the COVID shot on: May 29, 2021, 09:00:51 PM
Well... I was initially not very excited about this, but now it looks as if the plan has worked. Vaccination rates in Ohio have picked up pace, after the lottery was announced. And now other states (New York, Maryland, Oregon and Colorado) have also announced similar lotteries, to encourage the inoculation program. Also, the prize money is not given in cash. It is handed out as college scholarship. And therefore I believe that this is a great initiative, which eradicates the possibility of misuse or squandering.
Wow, I thought it was money, which is why after reading about the first winner being a 22-year old I thought that it might turn out badly. Bit all grownups would know what to do about such big money, and the youngest... But scholarships are great! Quality education can be really expensive these days, and this is a very good encouragement both for vaccination and education.
But doesn't this mean that these lotteries only intend to increase the vaccination rate among the younger generations? I thought the most problem was with the elderly Cheesy
340  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BTC price VS gambling on: May 29, 2021, 08:29:43 PM
They still have a place if they will come back, they have already built their reputation so that is not a problem. It's hard to mix your personal life to your business, that is a big site, they should have proper planning on managing their people so whatever personal problem in life, they can still continue to run their business.

I mean, they are making like millions of dollars and they give up on that? There must be some other reason... just don't mind, I don't want to speculate.
Yeah, the personal problem doesn't seem like a real reason to close a business, and, as far as they're quite popular, I suspect the business was successful. I doubt it was run by one person or even a small group of people, they could've just found a proper substitute.

However, regarding this "They still have a place if they will come back", I would disagree. It is a very competitive niche, tens of gambling sites pop up every day and it's not only difficult to build a reputation, but to keep it also. Which is why, while they're gone the gamblers are likely to find something else instead and get used to that, it would be extremely difficult to pool the clients back.
