322  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Louisiana Makes It Illegal To Use Cash For Secondhand Sales on: October 21, 2011, 09:49:42 PM
well known interweb hoax the Louisiana legislature is denying ever existed
it began from a law that prohibits scrap dealers from paying out cash to copper/metal thieves

323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass panic buy when reaches $1? on: October 21, 2011, 09:40:22 PM
I just bought 1200 coins that I needed for some various projects. Price was already climbing up to $3.20 by the time I was done

324  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: the drug dealer make lots of trouble to move their fund to off shore banks, on: October 21, 2011, 09:37:04 PM
you still have to get the money out of bitcoin and into cash somehow unless you can entirely live off bitcoins where you live.

then you need IDs, create a paper trail ect. you still need the offshore bank in other words
325  Economy / Services / Re: Buy Bitcoin with credit card on: October 18, 2011, 06:41:58 PM
They sell gold online w/cards but ship registered and phone the number on the card. Still not 100% scam free you will lose some orders. Also have to call it something else like game coupons.. max 200 per trans

This guy in Homs has a channel full of vids where they have to run a sniper gauntlet every Friday to get out of the mosque and across the street. balls of steel

http://youtu.be/K7o3zpFk9ks
http://youtu.be/I4doRXEzhNc

City in lockdown as a tank drives by randomly shooting at anybody in the street. I like the victorious yell at 01:07 when it passes by supposedly avoiding all the kids hiding in garbage beside it

Get your scuba certs and become a Scuba gear instructor/assistant or something in Mexico/Caribbean or wherever. Easy to do, pay is alright considering you get to live in the Caribbean. Always looking for people who can speak english to do this. Beware of working on any cruiseship.. there's a reason they are all registered in places like Panama so they don't have to actually pay you if something goes wrong, or even provide you with a crew toilet (my friend was handed a bucket on Carnival and instructed not to use passenger washrooms)

Forget China they are laying people off in droves. The shittier the American economy the less Chinese exports. Plus who wants to live in a country where executed dissidents are dumped in the street so body snatchers can nab them to resell to universities and questionable art exhibits run by Gunther von Hagens

328  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: somebody please just set the minimum price - it's so easy on: October 16, 2011, 12:03:32 AM
Start a new block chain and say it's backed by gold. C-Gold and Pecunix started out with tiny investments and grew from there. Somewhat more stable pricing, at least no pump and dumps straight to $1
329  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is the Occupy movement not immediately embracing bitcoin? on: October 15, 2011, 11:55:20 PM
most people don't even know about it
i approached a marijuana seeds company who had never heard of bitcoin who basically pioneered alternative internet payments in my area, now they're using it

if you have a bitcoin service print out some flyers and pass them out, then dispatch a friend to sell bitcoins on the other corner
330  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin trademarked in france. on: October 01, 2011, 11:10:44 PM
Patent/trademark trolling is nothing new. Ballmer still holds patents for the first interweb browser, he's continually tried to sue Android devs/Google/Samsung and everybody he can with little success. Nobody's copyrighted cryptocurrency yet...? Get satoshi on that

Ballmer even tried to sue everybody using the term linux as he claims Novell Linux is the only legal distro.

There's uncensored mesh based networks being set up all over Europe
http://www.funkfeuer.at/index.php?id=42&L=1

too bad wifi is shit technology and too slow yet for a mass darknet. this is also why we have Tor, and bulletproof hosting providers in Moldova and other CIS countries that don't care about lawsuits, trademarks, DMCA takedown notices or excited states of America MLAT treaties

332  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are criminals stealing electricity to mine bitcoins yet? on: October 01, 2011, 10:57:31 PM
People steal electricity to grow pot? Seems to me like that's a really easy way to get caught.

They hire blackmarket techs that used to work for the power company to set it up.
http://www.cannabisculture.com/articles/3268.html

Because US housing is so cheap right now, there are plenty of Canadian weed growers buying up houses to convert solely into farms and it's easier to pirate electricity in states not known for growing with outdated power infrastructure. Guess you could make a mining house too but I imagine the payoff isn't near as great

Anybody trademark cryptocoin yet?
334  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mooncoin taken over by the feds? on: October 01, 2011, 10:49:32 PM
Ok, so why doesnt Big brother shut down websites he doesnt like in Iran, N Korea, etc?   What is the antidote or preventative measure to avoid the US gov. shutting down any btc accepting site?

All you need to do is register your domain offshore so ICE can't take it. No GoDaddy or other popular US domain registrars. Servers should also be far away from US MLAT treaty.. failing that any Euro country or host that respects privacy and resists simple takedown orders like prq.se

Liberty Reserve exchangers and other e-gold type IBCs that have been around for 20+yrs all know never to host anything financial related in the US unless you want everything eventually seized. Especially if you're promoting online gambling like mooncoin guy was doing.. recipe for disaster

Looks like this guy was scamming anyways and ICE wasn't remotely involved
335  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mooncoin taken over by the feds? on: October 01, 2011, 02:41:28 AM
Following up to my last post. Christian Verdun lurked in irc as 'upisdown' in #bitcoin-otc. His OTC rating is here.

awesome rating 'took BTC and ran'
whoever ran moonco.in did it out of their home thru http://www.netdorm.com/

don't know why anybody trusted that site.

337  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Help - 90 BTC stolen - Possible to track down theif? on: October 01, 2011, 12:21:49 AM
if you're going to sell on ebay, ship the buyers registered mail or at least a flat letter with tracking. put a pin# in there so they can claim the coins off a different site you build. now you're selling a coupon/voucher not direct currency exchanging.. and it will satisfy 95% of the chargebacks you will get, especially if you only ship to verified addresses. Because you are selling a Game Card or w/e you scheme up, this doesn't violate the paypal TOS for currency trading. Read the TOS and get creative. you will win chargebacks almost everytime

LR/WMZ exchangers that gamble with paypal typically make disposable paypal accounts that are linked to an anonymous ATM card they can use to withdraw immediately to avoid fraud problems and don't do anything over $200. They also hold for 5-7 days to allow the system to claw back money if there was blatant fraud. They will wait until cash is in hand at the ATM before doing anything. This ebook will tell you everything you need to know about making dozens of non linked paypal accounts http://www.auctionstealth.com/ they also have a forum where they sell new accounts, and ebay accounts already w/feedback

then you go on the talkgold forums and other sites to find people selling VBA + Atm (virtual bank account) these are cheap, can usually take out $500/day without even needing to submit ID to the bank or just xfer to your regular account once you get the funds. lot's of banks in Italy or Panama sell USD mastercards to anybody you can withdraw from any ATM in the world with for tolerable fees (add them into your price for paypal payment.. risk must = reward). this is the only safe way to sell via paypal or else they'll freeze your account and you're fucked

i haven't looked into SMS code selling apparently it covers the same tracking requirement so you may get away with that instead (buywmz.com does this)

338  Economy / Services / Re: Vps Service Needed on: September 30, 2011, 06:02:36 AM
just signed up to a bunch of VPSs a couple of days ago

-bitcoinvps.net
entire site broken. checkout fails.. logging into sys to pay invoice fails. avoided
???no idea where located

-frozenonline.com
cheapest, but have to contact sales. took a day for a reply, then another 2 days after payment to set it up
problem: no ssh. wtf? gave me a vnc address to log into. apparently have to set up SSH I'll check it out later
slightly huge problem: client login area doesn't have SSL... not even a self signed cert. derrp
us servers

-cinfu
fastest set up even faster than autovps
only bitch is that they automatically install apache2 and some other shit you have to remove because nobody in their right mind runs apache when you can custom make nginx but no big deal
uk servers

-autovps.net (same as kalyhost)
most expensive but probably the fastest/best. doesn't install any extra bullshit. O/S outdated, no squeeze and good luck manually updating your VPS to squeeze without breaking everything so went with CentOS instead of dreaded lenny. servers in germany

EDIT
Other providers that take bitcoin you should update the wiki @ bitcoin.it

EDIT #2
Decided my 512 frozenonline VPS is useless to me. If anybody wants it (free) it's all yours.. just paid and good for 1 month
339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WILL PAY!!! Need help setup mining rig. Can Someone help?? I can PAY! on: September 29, 2011, 08:20:08 PM
isn't mining basically dead unless

1) you have a gigantor botnet
2) you buy into a gigantor mining consortium
2) you're mining namecoin/something else

GLBSE has mining coops you can buy into
