321  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you not get mad if I say Bitcoin is the multi-billion dollar pump and dump? on: February 18, 2018, 12:37:57 PM
Unfortunately people still look on bitcoin as an investment, and that will not change anytime soon. People that invested high amount of money into bitcoin want to make profit from that, and those huge investment will have small impact on bitcoins price. Only if large number of people decide to sell, that could affect price on larger scale.
If people with serious money started investing into bitcoin, that means they have seen potential in it and want to participate. Even if its only because of profit, they indirectly support bitcoin.
322  Economy / Economics / Re: crypto market demand is increasing on: February 18, 2018, 12:26:45 PM
That was huge drop in bitcoins price, and now its back on track. Bitcoin have large number of supporters and its no wonder that it has started to recover. This news show us that bitcoin can survive almost anything, and that those who believe and take risk can make some sweet profit. For now I believe that price will stagnate a bit, before it continue to rise again.
323  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Whale invested 500 Million $ into Crypto on: February 17, 2018, 09:52:20 PM
I am willing to believe that, seeing bitcoin bottom around $6,000, Wall Street smelled blood and jumped back in.

That could be truth. But still that is not something that could affect price of bitcoin on larger scale... unless its public announcement.

As far as big whales are concerned... one more doesn't change much. There are others that invested some serious money into bitcoin. So if we don't know who they are, that doesn't mean they do not exist.

There could be many reasons why price of bitcoin went up. More important is that its going up again.
324  Other / Meta / Re: Delete unmerited massages on: February 17, 2018, 08:13:36 PM
My point is there are more spammers now than before.

In time Merit system will do its job, just you wait. There is no need for Unmerit function, not yet.

Large number of those shitposters are here either because of account farming or because of signature campaigns. Account farming mostly drops out with new ranking system. Also I believe that in time sig. campaigns will start looking for members with higher Merit number. So those two things will bring down number of shitposters.

There is no need for any of the things you mentioned. In time Merit system will do just that. Also when people understand that they get nothing or get punished for repeating topics, they will stop doing it. As i said in time Merit system will do its job, so be patience.

The higher rank members should also be aware of the new system in order to distribute their sMerits instead of keeping them unaware of the situation if we want the system to be fully functioning.

A lot of high ranked members are already giving their sMerits to posts they see fit to be merited. Finding good quality post and rewarding it with sMerit takes time, and we all have our opinion on what high quality post is.

My advice to all:  Don't worry about Merits, what you should worry about is quality of your posts.
327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You've been scammed. What you can do ? on: February 07, 2018, 01:05:29 PM
So everything is in the title.
What can you do when you have been scammed ? what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.
If you got scammed it was your own mistake and you should pay for it. Or at least that is what I think.

If we speak about scam where you have lost your money, as far as i know there is low chances for your founds to be returned. To avoid losing you money, when you do trading go through a trusted source (third party) to do trading for you. Check out Lauda. She is a trusted member of this forum and have done this kind of jobs before. There are others too, and it should not be hard for you to find them.

If we speak about scam where you have lost your account here on forum. In that case best thing you can do is contact support and report scam. Same thing apply to other sites i guess.

My advice to all people out there is to stay away from shady people and sites. Visit only legitimate sites and do business only with people that you trust, if not apply what i said about trading.
This forum have good system, where people get Trust (positive or negative) for things they have done, which minimize possibility of scamming.

EDIT: Here you can find list of members that provides escrow services https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0
328  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system working? Really! on: February 07, 2018, 12:26:36 PM
# I do post a lot coz I believe contributing to any community build up the community strong. But look at my account I don't have much appreciation from the  higher ranked people who has a lot of merits to help me. I am not blaming them not to give me. May be they are not seeing my post. Do you think most of them have all the day to look for good post to merit other?
This thing is what I really concern of. I'm not bragging or uplifting my self esteem but I can say that I am a good quality poster here in the forum. I always do my very best in conveying my ideas and never ever tried to do shitposts at all. But in return, I only got 1 merit and take note it took so long to have it. It seems that my effort is not appreciated by others but I'm not blaming them because I understand that maybe they don't have a merit to give, they conserve their merits or they are choosy etc., I just feel sad about it.

Just an advice for those good posters who have this same situation, continue your good deeds and stop complaining because it will help nothing. Blessings will come to us at the right time, be patient. Smiley
I have one advice for you. Stay away from shit threads and topics. Because even if you make good quality posts, they will be swarmed by shitposts. Instead find some good thread and try to help someone that needs help. That way your posts will be noticed and you will start getting Merits. Cheers!
329  Other / Meta / Re: How to post to encourage me to award sMerits on: February 06, 2018, 08:19:14 PM
@Jet Cash, @EthanB, must say that I enjoyed reading your posts very much. They are fine guidelines for people that want to improve, things that are usable on the forum as well as in real life situations.

After reading your posts I have been thinking a lot, and I realized fundamental mistake that people makes when it comes to posting (including me).

People don't look on topics like they look on live conversation, and they should. They should look on them like conversation that should be helpful to their best friend. Because normal person should never lie or give misinformation to their best friend. Would probably stay quiet when they have nothing useful to say, and if they say something it would be to help their friend. Would listen carefully what other people add to conversation. So if people approach topics/posting like this, bad posts would be lowered to a minimum.

I like to simplify things, and this is something that came on my mind. Probably this is nothing new for you guys, but I guess there are other people like me out there that could benefit from this kind of thinking.
330  Other / Meta / Re: Demerits of merit points on: February 05, 2018, 07:45:04 PM
Merit system has made farming alts almost impossible. Person would need to be crazy, if s/he would jeopardize their high rank profile for low ranked one. Beacause they would be cough, and that is for sure.

Your accusations are led by an emotion, and you need to cool down and think for a moment before posting something. And if you have evidence of someone abusing Merit system, there is way for reporting that too.
331  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system working? Really! on: February 05, 2018, 01:25:27 PM
Yeah, just post something that has sense and is worthy of the stakes whichever campaign you're in. The forum has rules and so we have to obey.
Posting something that makes sense is not good enough. People should be on this forum because they want to learn and share that knowledge, not because of signature campaigns. You can look on sig. campaign as a reward for your posts. And yes, we should all follow forum rules.

I have realized all of this after harsh truth in owlcatz and joniboini posts (which are few posts above). Low quality posts are the problem that needs to be dealt with, and when we do that High quality posts will stand out even more. Also when our posts reach satisfying quality, Merits will start coming.
332  Other / Meta / Re: Flawed Merit System on: February 04, 2018, 08:05:41 PM
The merit system is terribly flawed.  People are already selling merit and giving it out to friends.
Life is not perfect, people are flawed too, so why do you think this forum would be without small problems. Moderators of this forum are doing best they can to make it better, so have some patience.
Those who break the rules of Merit system are being dealt with, already seen some punished accounts. Also if you see someone breaking the rules, simply report them to moderators.

A lot of the higher ranked members  ranked up by posting very short/spam type messages in the past.  Older users get such a massive advantage and most people are not even going to get credited merit if they post something that is worthy.
Because of those people that made low quality posts, moderators invented Merit system. To prevent people from reaching rank they do not deserve, and to encourage and reward those who wish to become better.
I am not sure of which advantage you speak of, which advantage higher ranks have that lower ranks don't? If you want to improve and rank up, work on your posts. Make them as high quality as you can, in time you will get Merits you need. Also know that you will get zero Merits from moaning.

Fucking shut up!
Just shut up! Go away from this forum if you can't read anything or don't know what is going on.
And FYI ,a member,I repeat a member:- nullius has received way more merits than 99% of the users here. His posts are worth a read, and helpful too. So again,GTFO.

What's even more interesting thing is some of the so called senior members thought this post was constructive and gave merits to this one..WTF.

They just don't know how to properly use sMerit system. I guess they see it as Facebook Like, they give Merit to what they agree with or what they like... That is just wasting of sMerit.
333  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading btc up or down? on: February 04, 2018, 09:02:08 AM
btc starts up again. does btc have stopped coming down? and will up will not stop or vice versa going down, what do you think?

Now the price of bitcoin is started to raise more than 9000$,as we know the price reduced upto 7800$ .So the price of bitcoin will reach the more than 10,000$.So just hold your bitcoin. If you want bitcoin at cheap price, just inverse now.
Well hopefully this month's end BTC price will reach $ 15K again.
I hold some BTC at this time, I start to fret when BTC price down.  Cheesy Cheesy
You made right decision when you decided to hold your bitcoins. Price will rise, that is almost certain. But i doubt it will rise up to $15000 this month. I expect maximum price for this month to be up to $11000 . Maybe we will see $15000 in three months or so.
334  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading btc up or down? on: February 04, 2018, 06:57:08 AM
"There is a rumor Ebay will start accepting Bitcoin as one of the payment options. Ebay dropped paypal as its main payment option. The new payment processor is Ayden which has a partnership with Bitpay."

i saw this on one of the pump groups on telegram. Does anyone about this?. if this is true it'll be huge for btc.

There is chance for Ebay to start accepting bitcoin as way of paying, but i doubt they will abandon PayPal. What seams more likely is that they will just implement possibility to pay with crypto.
If that happen it will be good for bitcoin and its users.
335  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: trading btc up or down? on: February 03, 2018, 08:16:43 PM
btc starts up again. does btc have stopped coming down? and will up will not stop or vice versa going down, what do you think?
After not so small drop, price of bitcoin is rising once again. India's ban of cryptocurrency and panic selling is what made price drop down so drastically, but when things settle down and people see that there is nothing to worry, everything will go back to normal and price will continue its way of rising.

Now is right time for buying, price of bitcoin is low and nice. So if you want to invest into bitcoin now is the right time. Key thing now is to stay calm, and avoid making any kind of emotional decisions. It will not be long before we can see steady price of $10.000.
336  Economy / Economics / Re: Why the blood bath - my opinion. on: February 03, 2018, 02:57:53 PM
Hello everyone!

So as most of you probably have already seen, we have another big blood bath, BTC hitting 8000$, not even talking about the altcoins. So what is happening? Well in my opinion, it is combination of two factors.

In the last few days, there was a giant FUD about India banning cryptocurrencies. It was a misinterpretation of the statement from India finance minister Arun Jaitley. He has said the following:
Quote
“The government does not recognize cryptocurrency as legal tender or coin and will take all measures to eliminate the use of these cryptoassets in financing illegitimate activities or as part of the payments system.”

Mainstream media then started the with-hunt and spreading the FUD of India banning cryptocurrencies. This had great affect on the price and got the BTC under 10K, hitting support line at 9000. But today, we are hitting the 8000 support line, why is that? Well, there comes the second factor.

We are closing to the Chinese Lunar New Year! Why is that a factor? Well, because most of Asia celebrate it and it is one of the biggest, if not the biggest event there. Quite a lot of people from Asia working overboard will come home to celebrate with their families. And what do they need? Money. And a lot of it, as Chinese New Year is the biggest spending spree in Asia. So when they see the FUD about India and the BTC going down, they will panic sell as they can't afford to lose any more or they would not have money for big spendings. And also it is not so long ago we have had the Korea FUD about BAN of crypto...

There is also the third factor. People see that governments are actively trying to regulate crypto markets. Some of them panic sell, some of them decide they have already pocket filled and some of them simply lose the trust...

In my opinion, combination of those factors led to this blood bath. I might be right, I might be completely wrong. What is your opinion?

Link to the article explaining India FUD here:
https://cointelegraph.com/news/india-bitcoin-prices-drop-as-media-misinterprets-govts-regulation-speech
What you have said is highly logical, and i agree with it. I was wondering my self why so high drop in bitcoins price, and why so sudden. But i think you have made really good post about those questions.

All of those things are really important for bitcoin community and bitcoin it self, but i think that main reason why bitcoins price went down is panic selling. As we know from past events, panic selling can do quite a damage to bitcoins price. Because of so high number of newbies in cryoticurrency world panic is common thing. It will not be long before people understand that there is no need for panic, and in that moment price will start rising again.
337  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I keep my BTC now? on: February 03, 2018, 02:18:10 PM
Hi guys! I have been hold my BTC for a long time but now it's completely down and I started to think about selling it. My friend is very good trader and he advised me to keep all my BTC now and try to get some free coins from different forks because when BTC will be completely down forks will be more actual and valuable. That's why I am here to ask you how to get that fork coins for free? I have found very good fork calling Bitcoin Interest but I just can't understand how to do that.  Tell me please the best way to do that. Thanks in advance !
First i would like to say that you have made good decision when you decided to keep holding your coins. Price at the moment is in down but soon it will rise again and you will be able to earn more money, just keep calm and hold your coins.
As far as forks are concerned, i got my Bitcoin Cash coins from Blockchain Wallet (that was my wallet at moment of fork) in amount equal to Bitcoins that i had in time of the fork. So i guess that wallets are in charge for getting coins from forks, unless you have offline wallet. Also i think i saw some videos on YouTube about that, you can check there too maybe you will find something useful. Just be careful when it comes to transferring your coins, scammers are everywhere. Good luck.
338  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Good news about bitcoin on: February 02, 2018, 03:39:44 PM
This is not a very good news about bitcoin at this moment, bitcoin is decentralized in nature, if crypto banks are there to rise means this statement about bitcoin fails. I think there is no necessity for banks as all have there wallets where your coins will be safe. If we think of banks to reduce thefts and scams then it will be considered centralized which is not fair.
I think it is a good news for us in our country but only if central banks support bitcoin then our government bank will also support bitcoin in our country if this happen this might pump the bitcoin price because there will be alot of investor but still not guarnteed at 100%.

It will not only be the decision of the banks to support bitcoin or any other digital currencies, that is not them to decide, it will surely go to the government to talk about. And I think even if there are "Bitcoin banks", I will still use my bitcoin wallet since one of the feature of bitcoin is the decentralization and it don't need any third parties to save your bitcoin.
Most of people will stick to their wallets when we talk about way of keeping your coins, but banks will find a way to enter peoples life and force them to using their services. For example we can take bitcoin loans, its a loan like any other and for that you would need to be part of banking system. That way you will have their wallet and will depend on the bank. People that lead banks are cunning people, they will always find a way for us to depend on the banks somehow. But I also agree that governments will be mostly responsible for what happens with bitcoin in some country.
339  Economy / Economics / Re: Another Good news about bitcoin on: February 01, 2018, 07:39:24 PM
Recently, the world's first ever Bitcoin bank

http://kryptomoney.com/worlds-first-bitcoin-bank/

Bitcoin has been improving since it started its first trade and now this great news, bitcoin will soon be here to stay, what can you say about this great news?

Will it support the growth of bitcoin as far as stability is concern?

I guess that this was good news in that moment, also if info is correct and this is first Bitcoin "Bank" out there, its still nothing special or important for me. Why is it not important? Well i have been dealing with bitcoin for a few years now, and there is company in my country that gives exactly the same services as that "bank". They have everything that is mentioned in that article, the only thing they don't have is "Bank" in their name. Which brings us to the point why i said that its nothing special and important. I guess there are more companies around the world like the one in my country, that were older than this "World's First Bitcoin Bank" .
340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can actually Bitcoin be good for the environment? on: February 01, 2018, 07:22:12 PM
A lot has been said about mining and about the electricity consumption of the activities related to bitcoin mining. However, I have thought of the alternatives and how other systems produce not just energy waste, but also plenty of useless work and "human waste".

To have a network that can ensure the completeness of transactions, the global accessibility and all the features that bitcoins, and many alts, have at the moment, would probable produce a huge carbon footprint. Just think of the VISA system or the banking system... the amount of people working on it, the waste of commuting to works, the infrastructure.

Thinking of all that, would you still say Bitcoin is bad for the environment?

If you add up the total power required for the visa banking system, all the ATMs, all the card machines, all the servers, I am pretty sure it exceeds bitcoin. In any case, power requirements should never be used to put something down. Energy production via renewable sources is increasing, and an increase in power consumption might actually promote investments into better renewable tech. In the end, energy will be less of a concern when our production easily exceeds our usage (fusion anyone?).

That is correct, we must look at bigger picture here. We can not speak about bitcoins power usage for mining, and not speak about banking system that we have now.

For people to be able to use bitcoin, we do not need banks and many other things that comes with banking system (but i believe that banks will find their way into dealing with bitcoin). All we need are those miners, which use less electric power than all banks.
Also there are people in Sibir who made heat system for their houses from crypto miners, which mean that power that miners use are not just for mining.

From this even a person which knows nothing about bitcoin can see that this is nothing bad a farce. In which bitcoin will be presented as an bad for our environment.
There is no denying that we need to do something about energy production via renewable sources, because we have only this planet.
