3201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can we live without btc? on: May 26, 2021, 12:46:28 PM

Bitcoin is not needed You Can breathe without btc and you Can live uour daily life without btc.

There is no reason that government Will let the btc to stay alive.

We only need food and air to live life as a human being. And still we won't a lot of other things too. Bitcoin is one of those things in my life that I want. It was the first big crypto currency and no one can take that away from Bitcoins. For many people when we talk about cryptos they actually mean Bitcoins. Even if other coins are better it doesn't mean that Bitcoins are going to disappear. I will fight for Bitcoins to survive. And governments might not like them and try to ban them, but it is not their decision. Long term there is no way around bitcoins.
3202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: your worst mistake on: May 26, 2021, 12:42:33 PM
My biggest trading mistake was with stocks back in 2008, right before the financial crisis I invested into a local bank which seemed a bit undervalued in my opinion. At first it looked like a really nice trade, but within 6 month the financial happened and all bank stocks collapsed. I think I lost like 50% of my money in 2008, which was already terrible. But then the news got out that my bank invested heavily in American mortgages and was close to collapse. In the end the government had to save the bank in 2009 and the stocks got consolidated, for every 10 old stocks I got 1 new stocks. So in the first year I lost 50% and in the second year 90%. Even today after more than 10 years I am still 80% in the red.
3203  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Vaccinated persons quarantine? on: May 26, 2021, 12:32:22 PM
I’m trying to make sense of this real life experience of mine..

Grandmother just had a surgery, she is staying in the hospital for about a week..

My mother and uncle both try to visit her..

Mother, not vaccinated, they let her visit my grandmother..

Uncle, vaccinated, but vaccinated less than 2 weeks ago, they will not let him into the hospital at all, not even the waiting rooms, where my unvaccinated mother is allowed to be in the hospital all over the place..

Now why is it that they are more strictly refusing entry to recently vaccinated people than to completely unvaccinated people?
I can hardly believe this is true, but it is..

Wtf?

I don't know exactly why this is the case in your country, but I read that straight after vaccination that you don't have any immunity yet, it takes 1-2 weeks to build up after the vaccination. On top of that is the immune system much weaker directly after the vaccination. In the end they just want to protect your grandmother. I also find it a bit strange that they make a difference between your mother and your uncle, it should be equal for both of them. Did you mother had to take a covid test before entering the hospital?
3204  Economy / Economics / Re: How to protect from inflation? on: May 26, 2021, 12:12:11 PM
Banks are a good protection to inflation but the problem is there is close to zero profits with banks so it's not a good thing to go that route for inflation protection, bitcoin can be a likely candidate but it's inherent volatility is going to be a problem for people that have weak hands. Real estate and gold could do the work just fine but the problem is that both are really expensive.
I think that gold and real estate is the best hedge for inflation followed by stocks and bitcoin and I don't like that you mention banks because they aren't client friendly and they have a lot of paperwork to do but give a meager interest. I do agree that bitcoin isn't a good hedge since the volatility is pretty high.

I agree with you, savings accounts at a bank are not very attractive  at the moment. For the last 5 years at least was the interest rate on the savings account below the inflation rate. On top of that are the bank fees rising. In my opinion going for banks is not a very attractive investment at the moment. The only real alternative are TIPS but these are treasury bonds and not really from the banks itself. So going for Gold and Crypto Currencies is the best way to protect ourself from inflation in my opinion.

3206  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do not trust everything you see in the internet on: May 26, 2021, 10:41:04 AM
as intelligent humans we should look for facts first before believing something on the internet, disputes often occur because of misunderstanding
therefore, many countries make laws so that those who make public lying can be punished

I agree, we should be careful and not get fooled so easily. Trusting everything on the Internet feels like trusting everything we see in advertisings on TV. People on the Internet are interested to give us a well researched opinion, they will just write what they think. We need to be very critical online and should double check anything important we read.
3207  Economy / Economics / Re: Organised crime on: May 26, 2021, 10:31:16 AM
A thread from 2010, wow that's really old. I don't think much has changed in the last 12 years. Criminals have been using crypto currencies to scam people and save their money. But there is no real difference to fiat money. If there were no cryptos these people would still be criminals and just use normal fiat money. The only thing that really changed is that more people use cryptos, so the majority today are definitely not criminals.
3208  Other / Off-topic / Re: Should i invest in bitcoin on: May 26, 2021, 10:13:17 AM
Bitcoin seems to be rebounding right now from its two digit losses. So if you still plan on investing into bitcoins  the prices at the moment are very reasonable. There are still risks that the price will drop further, but in my opinion the people who want to buy will grow rapidly below 35,000 USD.
3209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you recommend staking? on: May 26, 2021, 10:07:14 AM
I am a fan of staking, its a great way to earn with crypto trading if we don't have the time to do our own research and need to rely on others. The first experience I got with staking was in university when a friend of mine started with future trading. You needed to have a certain amount of money as security before you could start trading, so 4 friends of mine pooled money and we staked him. I'm general I think staking is good, but at the moment we have very volatile days in the crypto market. The risk of losing money is higher at the moment.
3210  Other / Off-topic / Re: Offline games on: May 25, 2021, 03:37:49 PM
My favourite offline game on a PC is City Skyline. It is a perfect building simulator for relaxing a few hours after work. The game is a few years old but has tons of DLC and community workshop mods. Everybody who wants can design his own favourite house and just upload it to the community so everybody else can use it for free. I like games which have a big community behind it. So even though it is a single player game there is interaction with other players. And you can also get community maps for free.
3211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Withdrawal/Deposit Issues on: May 25, 2021, 03:26:56 PM
I also have an problem with withdrawal / deposit at a casino. So when I first started out I used bitcoins to deposit money to mainly play poker, after I won with the deposit bonus I managed to just withdrawal my initial money again so I could only keep playing with the deposit bonus. After a few months now I am trying to withdraw again but it doesn't seem to be possible again. The withdrawal option to go with bitcoins requires a minimum amount of 1000 USD, and I just have 300 USD. All other withdrawal options are not possible, because it needs to be same option I used to deposit with. Already contacted the support team but they didn't get back to me yet. Looks like I have to try and gamble my way up to 1000 USD.
3212  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto vs Stocks on: May 25, 2021, 03:15:35 PM
Pretty much agreed with this. Stocks are for boomers. Crypto has the real gains. The world is not what it used to be anymore. The time has changed. Stocks gain how much at best? %7? These are rookie numbers. Dogecoin went up by like what? 10000%? Now that's what I am talking about. That's how you make money. Now defi is also a thing, the whole stocks market will probably operate on ETH anyway. Why resist the tech? Those stubborn boomers have to die because they are going nuts on crypto lately. We won't have a crypto based economy any time soon unless the retarded boomers disappear.

Couldn't agree more with you, mate. I'd would say crypto is better than stocks because you get higher returns in the long run. Of course, we cannot deny the fact that the risk of loss is higher with crypto than with stocks. That's because of the wild fluctuations in each crypto asset's price on the market. You could either become rich or poor in an instant, depending on what you do with your crypto investment.

Despite crypto's widespread success, stocks are still the #1 choice for serious investors and traders alike. That's probably because stocks are widely regulated, whereas crypto is not. It's no wonder why stocks are much more stable than crypto. For each person's preferences or needs, will be the type of asset to choose either as a short-term or long-term investment. It seems to me that both crypto and stocks will be here to stay for a very long time. Just my thoughts Grin

I understand that younger people prefer Cryptos to Stocks, but why not invest in both? Buying both stocks and cryptos only makes our portfolio stronger in bad times. Just look at bitcoins right now, the price dropped 40% over the last few weeks, while stocks aren't affected at all. In my opinion there are only benefits when mixing multiple asset classes together into one portfolio. And also with stocks we can buy only the blue chips with a high dividend yield, so we get money back each year which we could then take to put into crypto currencies.
3213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you trust the co-vid19 vaccine ? on: May 25, 2021, 03:04:41 PM

My story... this has scared the hell out of me for a while... so this is what happened yesterday I went to get my first dose of Pfizer vaccine. Everything went smooth until I get the shot and later in the post assessment area they had us sit for 15-20 minutes under observation. There I saw a one young guy sitting with his head down on knees. I remember I saw him earlier in the queue before getting his shot he was fine. After 5 minute sitting in the area this guy starts vomiting... everyone in the hall got scared and looked at each other what’s going on. Nurses gathered around him he was sweating a lot. He vomits again. They bring a wheelchair and took him somewhere may hospital or ER room.

Later I asked the nurses there that what happened to him is it related to vaccine. She told me that after Pfizer vaccine shot it’s normal to have some “metallic” taste in your mouth and some people can’t stand this and this can cause nausea and maybe they will vomit. Sweating was because of vomiting too and nausea itself is one of least common side effects.

Anyway for me I did not feel anything, just a little pain in the arm is still there and at night I could not sleep on that left-side where I got injection because of the pain.

Oh wow that is a horrible story, you must have been scared. How do you feel? Any big side effects?

I got my first dose of AstraZeneca two weeks ago and I also didn't feel very well after the injection. My problem is that I have a huge fear of needles, so whenever I get blood taken from me, my body shuts down and I need to rest for 20 minutes and eat sugar to get my blood pressure back up. So when I got my vaccine was sitting in the waiting area everybody around me was talking, happy and just checking their phone, while I was sitting with my head in my hands and people kept asking me if I was okay. The problem was also the mask which made me a little sick, I had to go to the nurse and ask if you go to another room with an open window to rest a bit more.
3214  Other / Off-topic / Re: All things movies, short film, television and YouTube on: May 25, 2021, 02:59:16 PM
Have you seen a movie or something on TV or even YouTube that you really enjoyed or perhaps inspired you and changed how your perspective in your life recently? Did you see something that was instead terrible and you hated it? Share what you thought about it and if you would recommend others to go watch it, have good discussions and maybe meet other people who have the same interests as you do.

No real format is required, but some things to include in your post are:

Are you starting a new discussion about a movie or video? What was the title? What was your reaction? Did you like a particular person or character in it?
Are you responding to another post? What was your reaction after you watched it? Did you have a similar reaction to the other user?
Do you remember watching a movie but can't recall the name of it? Give details about what year you think it was from and details about the movie and maybe another user saw the same movie and knows it!

I started to watch more videos and movies on Youtube since the pandemic. With so much time spent at home, it becomes harder to not watch TV or youtube. The biggest series I enjoyed recently was Poirot. BritTV uploaded the whole series to youtube in an awesome quality. It is remarkable how we can watch such high quality series for free on youtube. The Agatha Christie series is playing in the 1930s and we can see London back in day, with a lot of old cars and clothes. This really changed my mind on how society changed from back in the day.
3215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Could someone expect any other coin price can be up as compare to Bitcoin? on: May 25, 2021, 02:55:34 PM
Can Ethereum take over the top level market value more than Bitcoin ? or any other coin ?
if yes then how many years it can be take ? if all people shift from Bitcoin to Ethereum then what changes can be occur ?

I think that if we would get a new number 1 crypto currency after Bitcoin, it would likely be Ethereum. Right no we are still below 40,000 USD with Bitcoins, both China and Elon Musk are doing everything in their power to lower the price further. It is hard to predict what is going to happen in the next few month. In my opinion, we will likely see a similar price as we see right now. And if the price of bitcoin is not going to rise for a while I would expect that investors start looking for alternatives. The upside potential with ETH seems much higher than it is with BTC right now.
3216  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help staying anonymous on: May 25, 2021, 02:39:04 PM
I want to participate on a webpage which publishes people's articles of opinions sent by e-mail.
The problem is that webpage is under siege by our repressive and authoritarian government and it is common some writters receive threats and stuff like that.

Any ideas to participate there without fear for retaliations?

The best idea to stay anonymous online is to use a VPN. The government won't be able to track you if you have a good VPN. On top of that I would get a new email adress. If the articles are send to you directly via email than you need something that doesn't have your name or any other connection to you. Like that you should not be able to be traced by the government.
3217  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Republicans should be put to death. on: May 25, 2021, 02:35:20 PM
Republicans are useless, they have a diseased mind.
There is no winning for Republicans.  When a Republican is voted into office we all lose including them.  This is because they are only capable of destroying things and making things worse.  We can all see the future we were heading towards when the Republicans had control, a Mad-Max like scenario.

They have also become a National security threat as they are traitors.
You cannot even make this stuff up as it is simply the truth.

Edit:
The Republican mind has no ability to plan for, much less understand the existence of the future.
We can tell this not by their words(as their words are all lies), but very clearly by their actions.

Everybody has the right to believe whatever he wants and vote party that he likes. Free speech is important as having a discussion about the future of a country. If there was just one political party than we would have only people who vote for and people who don't vote at all, since there is not party for their ideas. Once we have a one political party system no one is going to double check the current party. They can do whatever they want, and since there is no alternative, they are not afraid to get the votes. I am glad we have more than one party.
3218  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: reasons for bad trading on: May 25, 2021, 02:29:07 PM

thats why many books advice to trade in smaller steps.  dont go with a gut feeling, set a goal and stick to it.

the biggest impacts to our psychology? maybe the media, the news, the rumors.
we read something and anticipate that it will move 'others' and so we act on our own.
we do it, but we have no idea what it should mean. what should a musk tweet mean to a price? 3%? 10%? what should india banning crypto mean?

I agree with you, purely trading based on our gut feeling is wrong. Emotions are going to take over our decision making and we won't trade optimal anymore. While it is important to follow the media and see what other traders are doing, we need to make our decisions with our own goals. It is better sometimes to swim against the flow, instead of just following everybody. If we just follow others, we will never sell at the highest point, or buy at the lowest point, we will always leave profits to other people to be picked up. If we have our own trading goals than it is much easier to trade on those rules instead of just a feeling.
3219  Economy / Economics / Re: Which Asian countries have the greatest influence on bitcoin? on: May 25, 2021, 02:23:00 PM
Asian countries have the greatest influence on bitcoin in china because china is the best in terms of crypto use and almost the majority of chinese people use cryptocurrencies. The forex market is the largest and most liquid market in the world with millions of parties trading trillions of dollars any day for those who are just starting out in the forex market one of the first steps is to learn some common trade currencies and their popular uses not only in the foreign exchange market but also in general. Crypto has more influence in china than in the forex market.

The thread is from 2018 but seems very accurate right now. If you had asked me 2 months ago I would have said that Asia has no bigger influence on bitcoin than any other country. But after the recent price drop it doesn't seem true anymore. China has such a huge power in the crypto world, it is sad to realise it. Together with Elon Musk, China managed to send Bitcoins down 40%, that is massive. At the moment no one can argue China is not controlling the bitcoin market.
