2241  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Horse Racing and Gambling on it should be banned on: May 02, 2022, 02:48:36 PM
According the this site: https://www.horsedeathwatch.com/background.php they have seen more than 2000 deaths in around 5500 days. Most of the horses die during the match as well, they also have instances where they are exploited using drugs (doping).

Are you aware that most of the horses go through slaughter as well? Some of them have very bad injuries making them not even the least bit useful for the business therefore they are killed without second thought. I do hope people would get more aware and try and steer away from *horse racing*.

Oh wow that's insane, I had no idea that things were so bad in horse racing. To me it sounds like animal cruelty. That's really sad, how is the sport not banned yet? I never watched a horse race on TV or went to a live event. Near my home town there was such a place, but it closed down years ago. The sport doesn't seem very common anymore in my country. In England it still seems popular, but even among my English friends I never meet anybody who would go there or even bet money on it. It always seems ridiculous in movies to see all these rich people betting millions on horses. And then seeing horses die on the race track is really disturbing, how can people go back after seeing something like that. To me horses are beautiful animals, like dogs or cats, I could never eat horse meat. And if they make their owners rich in horse racing, they should atleast own the right to live their last years in peace.
2242  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1 Million Bitcoin On Track To Break This Price Level. on: May 02, 2022, 07:39:13 AM
Arthur Hayes, the founder of BitMEX, spoke about Bitcoin and predicted that it will reach a value of $1 million by 2030. This information could be quite useful for those who love Holdear.

That is a very bold prediction. Since he is heavily invested in bitcoins himself and part of the crypto community it is nice to read that he has such big projections for the upcoming years. I am a little big more cautious when it comes to the future bitcoin price. Don't get me wrong, I also believe in a long term upwards trend of bitcoins. We will see a new ATH for sure in the next few years. A bitcoin price of 100,000 or 200,000 USD seems possible during the next rally. But going to 1m USD in 7.5 years is a long way to go. I would already be happy if we are around 300k USD at 2030. For the HODL investors that would be an amazing profit, I am just wondering at what price levels we will see large amounts of bitcoins being sold from them. The higher the price will rise, the more of the HODL investors will start to selling their coins.
2243  Economy / Economics / Re: What crypro / tokens has the most utility ? looks like all are useless on: May 02, 2022, 07:23:21 AM

Gold for example is a metal that you can shape / work in to objects and has physical / chemical properties that you can use + it's a limited resources.
Fiat / Crypto is some sort of storage of value with no real utility ... at least fiat i can use it as toilet paper or make fire if to cold outside.Crypto has zero use in real world, took me a few years to realize this.

So because Gold can be shaped into rings and other nice objects the price should be at 1,886 USD? Doesn't sound very realistic to me. If investors wouldn't look at Gold as a form to store value safely, the value would be much lower. The value here doesn't come from it's possibility to be used as jewelry or in some industrial production, but rather from the demand from investors. Your argument there the utility is what makes these commodities so valuable and high in price is not valid. Also you would use a 100 USD bill as toilet paper, which cost like 2 cents? Or maybe make a fire with it? Not very realistic. The utility from crypto currencies comes obviously from it's independence and the easy to use feature. All around the world we can exchange crypto currencies for goods and other money without the government interfering too much with our transactions.
2244  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: May 01, 2022, 08:33:03 AM
In fact, this is the only topic we are talking about these days, even if you look at what is written on this topic, you can see that everyone is talking about this match  Wink
It will be too risky to bet on this match, we saw how perfectly both teams were already playing in the first match. I think both teams have a chance. Real Madrid's motivation may be a little higher, the 3 goals they scored were very valuable. But we also know what an excellent team City is.
It will be very difficult to decide Cheesy

The only real game that is undecided is Real Madrid vs Man City. Nobody is expecting any surprise in the Liverpool - Villarreal match, Liverpool should make it easily to the finals. I agree that it will be a hard and close match for Real Madrid, but they are playing in their home stadium. The fan support will definitely be with Real that game. With 7 goals in the first match and the pressure being so high I imagine we are going to see another awesome match with many goals. It's also hard for me to pick a winner for that match. On paper I would probably pick Man City, they are in the lead and Real Madrid has to put on pressure and score goals. Usually in such a setup it becomes easier for the defenders to counter and score some goals. Maybe the best bet is to just bet on seeing more than 3 goals in the match. For the finals it will be an easier pick for me. I am going for Liverpool in that one, they should be winning both against Real Madrid or against Man City. In their last few matches against Man City they either won or played tied.
2245  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is it always about price? on: May 01, 2022, 08:12:14 AM

Shouldn’t we rather talk a bit more about fundamentals or/and all the positive news happening in the space? When the nights are dark and full of terrors, shouldn’t we bring some light?

Of course we should be worrying more about the fundamentals than about the price. Only shortterm traders are worrying about the price and not the underlying fundamentals. When it comes to price fluctuations in intraday trading these are normally not caused by any shift in fundamentals. A lot of the price changes just come naturally due to supply and demand on the exchange. That is why traders are looking to make a profit based on price. As an investor who has a longer investment period, will always worry more about the fundamentals than about the price. In case of strong fundamentals the price can be high or low for sometime, but eventually the price has to match the economics. It can't be that strong project with excellent fundamentals will be undervalued forever. Eventually other investors will notice it and start driving the price up. The same goes for bitcoins, I wouldn't worry too much about a 5 or 10% drop in price during a month. As long as the longterm trend is upwards there is no real issue, we just need to stay invested for the longrun.
2246  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the future of crypto 10 years from now. on: May 01, 2022, 07:04:23 AM
Bitcoin is the best coin in crypto and as the years passed by there are a lot of coins (altcoins) that is more profitable in terms of investment on both short and long term process, in you're future sights and speculation of btc based on some good promising projects that is now scattering and has a posibility to move to next level in the near future, Can there will be a coin that can manage to surpass btc 10 years from now?

I don't think we will see another coin in 10 years that is going to surpass bitcoins as the number 1 crypto currency. Everybody knows bitcoins these days, the market became so huge with so many different investors all around that it will be hard to over come that by any other project. For me it seems impossible that investors one day will not like bitcoins anymore. All the current investors would need to lose confidence and sell their coins to bring the price down to 1,000 USD or below - that seems very unrealistic. This of course doesn't mean that there won't be any new project what will be more profitable that bitcoins in the next 10 years. With a bitcoins price of around 40,000 USD it is hard to imagine we will see another few hundred percent increase any time soon. A price increase of just 100% would already mean a new ATH. A new project starting at 0.1 USD has it much easier to make big returns in the future than bitcoins. In my opinion BTC will be a very good investment to store value and have some longer term profits, but new alt coin projects will be the best place to go for the high risk / high reward trades.
2247  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 01, 2022, 06:53:23 AM
It was almost two months hard earned money. Got busted in few minutes. I don't know why I wasn't able to have me within the limits. Just started with a $3 bet, but it went upto $98 and ended with empty wallet. This is completely unlucky, because every bets were placed to roll above 20 which means the winning probability is quite high. Anyhow I wasn't in control and I didn't follow the rule gamble what you can afford to loss. It was a money saved to repay a debt. Now once again the interest needs to be paid so to manage the debt for some more time. Unlucky me  Sad Sad Sad

That sounds really unlucky, sorry read that your start in gambling was so devastating. It's a bit hard to fully understand what happened to you. From your post I get that your starting bet was $3 and your highest bet was $98, how much was your bankroll? $1000 or $2000? The first thing what is alarming to me is that you got busted in a few minutes. That should never happen. Your starting bets where probably way to big for your overall bankroll. Whenever you gamble you need to anticipate to lose a few games in a row. If you start betting too large and  it will be impossible to recover any losses later on. Maybe it would have been better if you start with a 0.25 or 0.5$ bet? Like that you are less at risk to go broke and can run more bets.  It's good that you realised that you weren't in control, unfortunately that happens a lot in gambling when you try it out for the first time. Games in online casinos go much fast than in a physical casino, so we need to be more in control of ourselves. Managing emotions and not only focusing on possible wins is very important in gambling. I hope you can save more money in the future and be a bit more cautious next time you try gambling. Good luck in your next gambling adventures.
2248  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Paradox of Gambling behavior on: April 30, 2022, 06:10:47 PM
Gambling in casinos and playing lottery is very different for me from betting on sports games. I have different motivations and expectations at each type of gamble. Sport betting for me is all about winning and making money. I make a bet on a team where I believe there is a good chance of winning. If I lose I hate being wrong and it's also the money that is gone. Usually I only bet on games that I like to watch anyways, so betting makes it a bit more interesting, but also let's a loss hurt more. And if I lose money a few times in a row I will take a break from it.
Gambling is mostly for fun for me, I love games like poker, black jack, dice and roulette. For years I have been playing them in online casinos and on offline casinos. I enjoy making some profits but I don't feel bad if I lose one night. It's part of the game, I know that in many games the casino has an edge over me. My goal in gambling is to have fun while keeping the losses small. And any bigger winnings I try to save.
Lotteries for me are not about fun and not about making money. I studied to much mathematics to know that winning big in a lottery is nearly impossible. For me lotteries is only a hedge among friend to not left behind. Once there is a new big jackpot we all pool together our money and buy the lottery as a group. So far we haven't won anything more than the money we put in. But I am only part of it because if they ever would win I don't want to be only guy in the group that's not a millionaire.
2249  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Traders Stop Being Greedy. on: April 30, 2022, 08:58:20 AM
Do not trade with everything you have, your egg can not be save in one basket, I have lost but I have gained more in trading with the help of research and mentorship programs.

Amen to that. Diversification is one of the key elements to building a long term investment portfolio. This holds true when it comes to stock, bonds, commodity or crypto investing. Spreading out money across multiple assets reduces the risk profile considerably and helps to not lose too much during bad times. Greed is a normal human emotion, that most of us have experienced in the past. We need to train ourselves to not give into these gut feelings and remain strong. Both greed and fear will cloud our judgement and lead to the wrong decision making. Diversification helps here also, because if we own multiple crypto coins the risk of falling for greed to only pick the riskiest coin with the highest possible reward is limited. Mentor programs are also a good way to learn from more experience traders and maybe to copy their trading style.
2250  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it bad to leave crypto on exchanges? on: April 30, 2022, 08:34:10 AM
I have most of mine on an exchange because I'm getting paid interest. Has there ever been a time when an exchange like Binance for example, steals your funds or gets hacked and people lost money?

Leaving bitcoins and other crypto coins at an exchange is a large security risk in my opinion. There have been big exchanges being hacked in the past, leaving investors with a losses because recovering the coins is very hard. It might be easier to not always withdraw coins to your wallet, and you can also save the transaction fee every time, but you could lose everything like that. Better be safe even if there never was an issue. Receiving interest on your coins is nice, but is that profitable? I wouldn't expect an exchange to pay high interest, because it will eat away their profits. Also the exchange doesn't really need your coins if it only matches buyers and seller. In case the exchange is also lending out coins it might be different, then there is more risk involved. What if all the borrowers default at the same time and leave the company hanging? In case of bankruptcy I wouldn't expect you to get all your coins back either. If you only trade a few times per month, do the extra work and save your coins in a seperate wallet.
2251  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Semifinals! on: April 30, 2022, 07:33:27 AM
What a game again from Eintracht Frankfurt. I couldn't believe myself when I saw the first goal in less than 1 minute. Very strong performance, and that wasn't even in their own stadium. On Thursday they will play again but this time with all the fans present. Hopefully they won't be choking and will reach the finals. That RB Leipzig will reach the finals seems not as a big surprise, everybody is expecting it. They are the clear favourites to win the cup this year. Betting now for 1.8 on Leipzig to be the Europa Winner seems a bit low in my opinion. If West Ham would reach the finals, than I would bet large on Leipzig. But with an all german final things are getting more tricky. Counting out Eintrach Frankfurt now seems like a mistake to be me, the team must be really hyped for the title. Also in the last two german league matchs the Leipzig and Frankfurt played there was no clear winner, the played 0-0 and 1-1. With 3.5 the payouts for Frankfurt winnings seem much more profitable.

2252  Economy / Economics / Re: Does anyone care about the environment? on: April 30, 2022, 07:01:58 AM
I don't think that nature or the environment is on anybodys mind in the government right now. The top politicians in most countries have a lot more pressing issues they try and focus on. The times where climate change and global warming was on the front page of newspapers is over. For the past two years the world only focuses on covid, now they focus on Russia-Ukraine war and the ecomic aftermath. Topics like national security and rising inflation are much more important for the reelection campaigns that saving the environment. It feels like that politicians still still don't take the topic serious, even if we can already notice the negative effects all around the world. In my opinion we should give more power to the scientist to save the environment, we can't keep living like this.
2253  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australia to ban Pokies on: April 30, 2022, 06:51:30 AM
I was really surprised to see that Australians are so big into gambling. In another thread here about the top 10 countries that have the highest gambling losses per person Australia was among the top. I never been to Australia, but I always thought that they enjoy life at the beach, drinking beer and having a barbecue. Why would you stay in doors and gamble so much? Also, it would be surprising if all this gambling is only done on slot machines.
To me it seems excessive to get rid of all the spot machines in the next 5-10 years. What will they do with all the old machines? Sell to other countries? Why not start with a limitation of slot machines per venues? There is really no need to use the ban hammer, it seems excessive. Would be good to know if the majority of Australians are behind such a ban. If politicians feel like the slot machines make too much money, and gamblers are losing too much, why not regulate the market? They could increase the RTP to a certain minimum level, below that they wouldn't be able to be sold in Australia. I know that slot machines are much more common in USA than they are in Europe and that the payout ratio is also much higher in the States.
2254  Economy / Gambling / Re: new bitcoin casino system on: April 28, 2022, 08:46:23 AM
Hello my boss want open bitcoin casino.

Can you help us with this? what is needed

From your post with not a lot of information I assume that your at the beginning of the process to open a crypto casinos. Are you really sure you want to get into that right now? The online casino market is very competitive, there are plenty of new casinos that entered the market in the last 12 months. Do you have any new idea, maybe offering games that haven't been run by casinos yet? In case you plan to run the large number of existing games just in a new format it will be hard to make a profit.
It also requires a lot of capital to open and maintain a casino. But since you ask for your boss I assume that there is a lot of capital involved and shouldn't be an issue. An alternative could be for you to maybe not create an all new casino, just buy a stake in an existing casino that is already profitable. Like this you wouldn't need to get the expertise to run a casino and can still profit of the hype.
2255  Economy / Economics / Re: The first rule of investing is saving on: April 28, 2022, 08:27:18 AM
Of course you need to save first before you can start investing. Having no money makes if almost impossible to generate any wealth out of it. There are two options starting with no funds, first is going for high risk investment and hoping to make a decent profit. Unfortunately many high risk projects will just make you lose your money. The second option is to borrow money to invest it. That's not a great strategy either, because when you lose some of it you still have to repay the loan. Best is to save first and invest later. What I find very hilarious is that many of these self help gurus with their financial independence books only become rich by selling the books. And for the people it would probably better to save the 20$ instead of buying another book. In today's world we need capital to make a profit.
2256  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: April 28, 2022, 07:18:49 AM
I just heard this morning from a colleague that he bet some decent money on Villarreal yesterday and on the match next Tuesday. No idea how he came up with the idea that they have any chance against Liverpool. Liverpool was already a clear favourite before the match, but the game yesterday was really one sided. I mean seeing 74% ball possession in a professional tournament already shows you how limited the impact from Villarreal was. There is no way for them to come back from this. Real Madrid vs Manchester City looked like a much closer game. My money is with Man City for Wednesday, looks like it's going to be a full English final. The teams look really equal in strength, I would probably stick with Liverpool for the finals, they won their last game vs Man City. Also Jürgen Klopp is an awesome coach, he deserve it
2257  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do You Think New Casino Should Partnered With Bounty Managers To Gain Trust? on: April 27, 2022, 10:08:44 AM
Yes of course, it's a good idea to team up with well known bounty managers from the forum. Bitcointalk has been around for so many years, there are some well respected users here who would be a good addition to any new project. Running successful campaigns here on the forum for years gives a huge trust bonus. I think for any new crypto casino it's a good idea to run a signature campaign here on the forum. It's a good way to spread your name and attract gamblers. Also it's the first step to work with a campaign manager here. The only problem is how to get the managers involved, with so much experience they will definitely ask for monetary compensation or maybe a small stake in the casino. Nobody would like to give their name to something that doesn't look like a success.
2258  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin continues to decline, what causes it? on: April 27, 2022, 09:55:05 AM
I wouldn't say it's a big decline yet, bitcoins are still trading around the 40,000 USD level. In my opinion it's a sideways trend we see for a while now. As long as the world is facing all these big issues there won't be any big price jumps up or down. There are always some minor news which influence the price short term, but I don't see anything major happening that could tricker a sell off. The last big news of Elon Musk could have some investors worried that he will try to promote his own Doge coin at the expense of Bitcoins. I wouldn't really worry too much about that, bitcoins tend to always bounce back stronger.
2259  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk makes offer to buy Twitter on: April 27, 2022, 09:29:11 AM
Was a nice move by Elon Musk to buy Twitter. Paying 44bn USD for it isn't even 20% of his networth and since he likes to hold a lot of his money in liquid assets it shouldn't hurt him much. I am wondering why so many people are against this acquisition. Elon Musk is an active twitter user himself, if he has a new vision for twitter why not give him a chance? It seems all the left wing activities are afraid to lose power on twitter. But Elon already stated he wants to promote freedom of speech on twitter. So we might see a wider spread of different opinion and users can argue against each other. In the end it comes down to the readers to remain critical and not believe everything they read online.
2260  Economy / Gambling / Re: Do you prefer lots of promotions over better RTP? on: April 27, 2022, 08:04:51 AM
Its all about the personal preferences, some people would like to make a bonus spins because there's a chance getting the jackpot at the highest price of the game, well its ll about the luck with that mostly of course slot games is the ideal for this kind of game. For the RTP its ideal for the large amount of wager such as in the event of the leaderboard highest wage of all time for a day, week or monthly  base they gained profit by doing this kind of activity of course to the people who does not play large wages. I prefer with the Bonus spins.

Bonus spins sounds always nice, but I never heard from anybody who wins a lot of money from these bonus spins. For years I am eagerly jumping on any new promotion that gives away bonus spins. They are fun to use, but my profits are usually just 0.1-0.3$. It makes sense for casino to only give away small amounts during such big promotions. Just wondering if there is someone who manages to score big with them. On paper playing at a casino with many promotions looks very nice, there is always free stuff to collect and keeps us gamblers engaged. That is probably also why I prefer to see new promotion campaigns rather than just plain games with good RTP. But for our profits it is probably better to play on casinos with high RTP games. Getting higher wins on average will likely offset the money we could have gotten from free promotions.
