3221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-QT/bitcoind sendtoaddress on: April 10, 2015, 03:34:21 PM
Yes I understand, something like that:

Code:
createrawtransaction '[{"txid":"d3be60aaf98ef888a9137928fa405806cd2e0c762f5205b3d9ba3e6ad26a5262","vout":1}]' '{"mxgxQ52kYRVPfLeYpXugkCAGhjLfUaZk3g":0.05000000,"mvDLEEymmEijZXyrrNRL3aPMhH8q2m8vE1":1.19994817}'

Where first output is the receiving address and second one is my actual address receving back the rest minus fee. Am I right?

By looking at the UTXO tx hash[1], yes, the second one is your address receiving the change.

It isn't always like that. For example, if you want to send Bitcoins to two people, you may use all UTXOs causing you not to receive any change.

3222  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Account-feature stable? on: April 10, 2015, 03:26:09 PM
I know how it works and found a way to make it work with my application, but my question is what would be better in terms of performance and stability. How do others do it when developing wallet functionality? I found a few code examples but seem to be using the account feature instead.

Are there any better alternatives to the bitcoin core wallet to do this?

AFAIK almost all people use Bitcoin core for these things including exchanges. I don't know of any other wallets which have or is good for RPC.
3223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need to know more about cold storage on: April 10, 2015, 03:19:43 PM
The best cold storage is to print your private keys on a paper (don't mention on it that it is Bitcoin-related), copy it several times and store these papers on several locations. To be safe, make a USB copy additionally. Finally, delete the private keys from your laptop, if you use it to get into the internet Smiley

Paper wallets aren't good as cold storage is because you will have to expose the private key to a hot wallet when sending Bitcoins. You can also use a PC which is not and never will be connected to internet. But if there is already 2 PC/mobiles, I don't see the reason for using a paper wallet.

However, if you are HODLing Bitcoins for a long time, paper wallet is good if you take enough precautions for preventing it from getting damaged.

If you are using a paper wallet, Mycelium is recommended for spending Bitcoins from it.

Edit:

=snip=
Finally, delete the private keys from your laptop, if you use it to get into the internet Smiley

It seems a lot of you don't understand that a cold wallet/storage private key should never be used or exposed online. If it is exposed online than it loss the cold property and it "is not more secure". For generate a real cold address you should choose a "secure" machine with windows (maybe better linux) and "use" bitAddress or client/wallet (downloaded from another machine, and transferred through USB or other storage supports) to generate your offline address. The final thing to do is send your bitcoin to that address and protect your laptop with several "copy" of your private key (into a sheet of paper, cd, floppy, sd,etc...); a real private key of a "cold" wallet address should never be exposed online.

He probably meant that if you are using that computer for using internet, delete private keys. But deleting isn't enough as you can recover deleted files too.

To your post: A live usb never connected to internet will be enough if you know how to keep it from physical/internal damages.

Thank you!

Hi,

Please see - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1019646.0

Contrary to others beliefs, I'm in need of help and will pay back on time and in full guaranteed.

Please consider my proposal, it would mean a lot and stop me pissing some of my customers off.

Thanks

Sorry! This isn't the way to run a ponzi.

People has scammed for even a few dollars, <=$5. Also, the ponzi you run obviously will be funded with this loan. So "scammer".
3226  Other / Politics & Society / Re: NO Miracles in Koran on: April 10, 2015, 03:05:52 PM
What miracles does one have to believe?

Just the end of world stuff?

Everything. AFAIK If they can't see it logical, they don't want to believe it but they shouldn't spread misunderstanding/misinterpretation to backup their claims.

"End of the world" is one of the many predictions.

Help me out a bit with this because as an Athiest I view these concepts as total bullshit, and that makes it difficult to separate the various flavors.

It is not only you, all humans are like that. Once we carve something on heart/mind, it is hard to change it. I too see somethings in that way.

In Islam, are alleged "prophecies" considered "miracles?"

It's debatable because for some it is miracles and for some it is just prophecies. I will have to look a little more on this. I will try to reply ASAP.

Meanwhile, here are some of the fulfilled prophecies:

Quote from: wiki
One of the more general prophecies is that the Qur'an predicts its own preservation and endurance. The Qur'an states that the book itself will survive as a valid source and that the religion of Islam will last, even dominate, because of this. Muslim scholars argue that today's Qur'an is the same Qur'an originally compiled by Muhammad. The following passages from the Qur'an state these prophecies:

“We have, without doubt, Sent down the Message; And We will assuredly Guard it (from corruption)” (15:9).

“It is He Who has sent His Apostle with Guidance And the Religion of Truth, That he may proclaim it Over all religion, Even though the Pagans May detest (it)” (61:9).

Another interpretation of the Qur'an is that it predicted the defeat of the Persians by the Romans. Before the prophecy, at the Battle of Antioch, in 613 C.E., the Persians defeated the Romans. Muslims were upset by this defeat because they felt more connected to Rome, a Christian empire, than to Persia, a Zoroastrian one. A few years afterwards, the following verse was revealed in the Qur'an: "The Roman Empire Has been defeated – In a land close by; But they, (even) after (This) defeat of theirs, Will soon be victorious – Within a few years. With God is the Decision, In the Past And in the Future: On that Day shall The Believers rejoice” (30:2-4). By 627 C.E., the Romans had successfully defeated the Persians, resulting in much celebration by Muslims and fulfilling the prophecy of the Qur'an.

## Another prophecy of the Qur'an that Muslims might argue has been fulfilled is the ease with which the book can be memorized. Because this is not a factual prophecy but based, rather, on opinion, it cannot truly be proven. However, Muslims do consider reciting or reading the Qur'an to be holy and a way to receive blessings, so it is extremely common for Muslims to memorize a large number of Qur'anic verses. The fact that this is possible and has been done by scholars and children alike, does suggest a certain quality of the Qur'an that makes it easily memorable. The Qur'an’s “rhythmic style and eloquent expression” have been cited as aids in verbatim memorization. The following verse from the Qur'an is one example of the prophecy that the Qur'an will be easily memorized by future readers: “And We have indeed Made the Qur-an easy to understand and remember: Then is there any that Will receive admonition?” (54:17) ##

Another prophecy, according to the Qur'an, may have predicted the preservation of the Pharaoh of the Exodus's body. In the Qur'an, God says to the Pharaoh: "This day shall We save thee In thy body, that thou Mayest be a Sign to those Who come after thee! But verily, many among mankind Are heedless of Our Signs!" The body of the Pharaoh, who was argued to be either Ramesses II or his son Merneptah, was thought to be lost at sea until the mummies of both were discovered in the 19th century. They are on display today in Cairo's Egyptian Museum; thus, it is argued that the prophecy was fulfilled.

What I put in "##" is debatable too. Unlike most other religious books, Qur'an is easy to remember. So it can also be considered as a prophecy.
3227  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Palestine & israel? What do you think about that situation? on: April 10, 2015, 02:39:03 PM
the clear standard is the right to self determination. all saudi citizens have rights in their country. most palestinians living under israeli rule don't.

I am not a big fan of Saudi Arabia. But you can't compare Israel with Saudi Arabia. The Saudis never kicked out anyone and invaded their land.

The worshippers of hundreds of preIslamic Arabian gods who were forced to convert to Islam when Mecca was invaded. Their idols were ejected from the Kaaba and destroyed in one of those famously peaceful acts of multicultural tolerance Muslims are famous for. The occupation continues to this day.

I don't want to intrude this topic, however, just clarifying this part. If you want, it can be discussed further in Wilikon's thread about Islam.

Quote
Historically when Ibrahim was ordered by Allah to build the Shrine for worship over a small he uncovered the original foundations of the Kaaba built by Adam. Ibrahim with the help of his son Ismael erected the new shrine on the same foundations.

Ever since, Ismael the son of Ibrahim who helped his father to build this place and his descendants remained the custodians of the Holy Shrine. History tells us that centuries passed and the guardianship of the Kaaba remained in the family of Ismael until the name of Abde Manaf came into the limelight. He inherited this service and made it much more prominent.

His son Hashim took this leadership and extended it to many other towns of Hejaz so much so that many pilgrims flocked annually to this place and enjoyed Hashims’s hospitality. A feast was given in honor of the pilgrims, food and water was served to all guests by the family of Hashim. This prominence created jealousy and his brother Abdu sham’s adopted son Ummayya tried to create trouble.

There was a dispute in which Ummayya failed and left Makka to settle down in the Northern provinces of Syria(Sham) currently known as Syria. After Hashim his brother Muttalib and after him Hashim’s son Shyba who became known as Abdul Muttalib assumed the leadership of the family. He organized feasts and supplies of water to the pilgrims during the annual festival of Pilgrimage to the Holy Shrine.

Prophet Ibrahim built this House for devout worship to one God. But within his lifetime people disobeyed his orders and began to put idols inside the Kaaba. Ibrahim had to clean the House of these idols and of Idle worshippers.

He told the people that this was a symbolic house of God. God does not live there for He is everywhere. People did not understand this logic and no sooner had Ibrahim died the people, out of reverence, filled the place with idols again.

They thronged to this place annually and worshipped their personal gods, It was over Four Thousand years later that the last of the line of prophet (S), Muhammad Ibne Abdullah entered Makka triumphantly, went inside the Ka’aba and, with the help of his cousin and son in law ‘Ali Ibne Abi Talib, (as) destroyed all the idols of Ka’aba with their own hands.

This was done in the 8th year of Hijra, (probably on January) 630 AD after the bloodless victory at Makka by the Prophet of Islam.

Just one thing, are you deliberately trying to deviate from the main topic or do you think talking about other religion's weakness and messages would save Islam from the bad limelight? You cannot prove something is right by identifying a same fault in the other religion

Nope. This topic came here, so I posted. That's all. No deliberate deviation.

Islam doesn't tell to be a terrorist, it is people who do it. I know once you keep these beliefs are careved on heart, you can't change it easily. This is how the world is: “Whatever bad things muslims do is because of Islam and no matter how small it is, it will be marked and known/popular in history. But whatever good things muslims do is because of his goodness not Islam's and no matter how big it is, it will be unmarked and unknown/unpopular in history!Sad

Same fault? I was trying to prove that Jesus isn't God but a prophet.

Quote
Let us look at John 10:30 "I (Jesus) and the Father are One."  This verse is  severely misunderstood and is taken out of context, because beginning at verse John 10:23 we read (in the context of 10:30) about Jesus talking to the Jews. In verse John 10:28-30, talking about his followers as his sheep, he states: "...Neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father who gave them me, is greater than all, and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and the Father are One."

These verses prove only that Jesus and the Father are one in that no man can pluck the sheep out of either's hand. It does not at all state that Jesus is God's equal in everything. In fact the words of Jesus, " My Father, who gave them me is Greater than ALL...,"  in John 10:29 completely negates this claim, otherwise we are left with a contradiction just a sentence apart. All includes everyone even Jesus.

First off, I think jealousy is a poor personal trait to have. If anyone really has that, better remove it as it has no positive effects in your life.
 =snip=

Hard part. Positive things can be removed or destroyed easily but removing or destorying bad things are hard. It is like the ring in "Lord of the rings". Once you posses it, you will need great will power to remove which most lack.

The similarites of Islam and Christianity

<a taken>
b) Both believes in doing good works.
c) Both believes in praying, and repentance to sins commited
d) Both teaches to not judge others

True.

The key difference between Islam and Christianity as i see it:

a) Islam believes that Jesus was apostle of God, and not the son of God that he was made to be in the scriptures of the Bible.
b) Christianity believes that Jesus was the son of God, sent to die for our sins, so that we might be redeemed through good works and repentance of sins.

True.

could you perhaps add to these list Muhammad Zakir, about any difference i may have missed, or any errors that i made? I am really enjoying this discussion Smiley

Here are some problems:

a) Both believes there is one true God.

Only Islam believes in one true God.

Why isn't Christianity?

#1: “Jesus was the son of God” itself tells there is another God than Jesus and they believe it. If not, they can't beleive Jesus was "son of God".

#2: They take this is as evidence for Jesus as God.

“I and my Father, We are One.” (John 10:30).

In fact, it is out of context.

John 10:22 -  “But it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem and it was winter.”
John 10:23 - “And Yeshua was walking in The Temple on the porch of Solomon.”
John 10:24 - “And the Judeans surrounded him and were saying, "How long will you keep our souls in suspense? If you are The Messiah, tell us plainly."”
John 10:25 - “Yeshua answered and said to them, "I have told you, and you do not believe, and the works that I do in the Name of my Father, they testify of Me."”
John 10:26 - "But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep, just as I said to you."
John 10:27 - "My sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow Me."
John 10:28 - "And I am giving them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them from my hand."
John 10:29 - "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."
John 10:30 - "I and my Father, We are One."

If you look at this, you will understand on purpose they are one but it doesn't mean they are one person. Nobody can't snatch from Jesus' hands, nobody can't snatch from God's hand and hence, they are one.

Anyway, if they are still telling "no". Then they will have to believe in 14 Gods. Jesus, God and 12 disciples. Same thing used in different lines:

Romans 12:5 - “So also, we who are many, are one body in The Messiah, and each one of us is a member of the other.”

1 Corinthians 10:17 - “Just as that is one bread, and thus we are all one body, for we all receive from that which is one bread.”

John 17:11 - “From now on, I do not dwell in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to join you. Holy Father, keep them in your Name- that Name which you have given me, so that they shall be one, just as we are.”

Maybe more are there but last one I post which is said by Jesus' to disciples:

John 17:20-22 -  "That the all may be made one. Like thou Father art in me, I in thee, that they may be one in us. I in them, they in me, that they may be perfect in one"

See? Same "ONE" is used here. So that means 14(+) Gods? Huh

Qur'an make predictions about the end of the world. The war and many more. Smiley

I think what I am saying is an important point, so correct me if I am wrong.

To be a devout Muslim one does NOT have to believe in miracles.

To be a devout Christian one DOES have to believe in miracles.

True or false?  Badecker?

My mistake, false. Devout muslim needs to believe in Miracles.

I have edited my previous post regarding Bitcoin configuration file. Please try it out.

im also doin this via a vps

You are connecting from vps to pc or pc to vps or connection bitcoind to locally(in vps)?
3235  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: making mining pool problems on: April 09, 2015, 11:07:03 PM
Can you give more details? If you want to run Bitcoin-qt, you can download it from https://bitcoin.org/en/download and install it.

FYI: You can't run Bitcoin-qt via terminal, but you can run Bitcoind or Bitcoin-cli.

Better answers can be expected(from others and me) if you can post more details like what problem you are occuring, when it occur etc...

Edit: Recommended configuration(Bitcoin.conf):

Code:
server=1
rpcuser=a_username_which_isn't_easily_guessed.
rpcpassword=a_long_random_password
rpctimeout=60
rpcport=8332
paytxfee=0.0001

• Windows: Go to %AppData%\Bitcoin and create a new notepad file and name it "bitcoin.conf". After you do, open it and add the above code with preferred username and password and save it.
• Linux: Type "nano ~/.Bitcoin/bitcoin.conf" in terminal and add above code with preferred username and password and save it.
• Mac: Type “nano "~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/"” in terminal aand add above code with preferred username and password and save it.

Now run "bitcoind -daemon". Hopefully, blockchain will be downloaded now.
3236  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Securest method of Bitcoin storage on: April 09, 2015, 11:01:24 PM
Use Armory Multisig* or Electrum Multisig or Bither Multisig.

Bither Multisig helps you to use your mobile as one of the device and signing and transmitting datas can be done via Qr code. So it is pretty much secure than using a USB stick or other CDs for transmitting datas from on computer to another for signing and broadcasting.

* Correct name "lockbox".

But you know what also the Quoran said in a general matter? "And they won't accept you, Neither the Jews nor the Christians until you follow what they believe". Sadly most people are like that.

Wink

5:68 - “Say: "O People of the Book! ye have no ground to stand upon unless ye stand fast by the Law, the Gospel, and all the revelation that has come to you from your Lord." It is the revelation that cometh to thee from thy Lord, that increaseth in most of them their obstinate rebellion and blasphemy. But sorrow thou not over (these) people without Faith.”

5:69 - “Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

5:72 - “They do blaspheme who say: "(Allah) is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.”

5:75 - “Christ the son of Mary was no more than an apostle; many were the apostles that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how Allah doth make His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!”

5:76 - “Say: "Will ye worship, besides Allah, something which hath no power either to harm or benefit you? But Allah,- He it is that heareth and knoweth all things."”

5:77 - “Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper), trespassing beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by,- who misled many, and strayed (themselves) from the even way.”

5:78 - “Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.”

NB: Here children means descendants of a family or people.

5:79 - “Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did.”

5:82 - “Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilt thou find the Jews and Pagans; and nearest among them in love to the believers wilt thou find those who say, "We are Christians": because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.   ”

5:83   - “And when they listen to the revelation received by the Messenger, thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears, for they recognise the truth: they pray: "Our Lord! we believe; write us down among the witnesses.”

5:84 - "What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the truth which has come to us, seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?"

5:85   - “And for this their prayer hath Allah rewarded them with gardens, with rivers flowing underneath,- their eternal home. Such is the recompense of those who do good.”

5:86 - “But those who reject Faith and belie our Signs,- they shall be companions of Hell-fire.”

49:06 - “ ye who believe! If a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.”

49:09 - “If two parties among you fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and just).”

49:11 - “O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.”

2:256 - “Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.”

6:151 - “Say: "Come, I will rehearse what Allah hath (really) prohibited you from": Join not anything as equal with Him; be good to your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want;- We provide sustenance for you and for them;- come not nigh to shameful deeds. Whether open or secret; take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by way of justice and law: thus doth He command you, that ye may learn wisdom.”

8:61 - “But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah. for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things). ”

5:8 - “O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do”

Do not be people without minds of your own, saying that if others treat you well you will treat them well, and that if they do wrong you will do wrong to them. Instead, accustom yourselves to do good if people do good and not to do wrong (even) if they do evil.” (Al-Tirmidhi)

Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 624:
Narrated Anas:

“Allah's Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others."”

Bulhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 629:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

“Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever has oppressed another person concerning his reputation or anything else, he should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Resurrection when there will be no money (to compensate for wrong deeds), but if he has good deeds, those good deeds will be taken from him according to his oppression which he has done, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him."”

Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 637:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet said, "The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person."

Bulhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 639:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr:

The Prophet said, "Whoever has (the following) four characters will be a hypocrite, and whoever has one of the following four characteristics will have one characteristic of hypocrisy until he gives it up. These are: (1 ) Whenever he talks, he tells a lie; (2) whenever he makes a promise, he breaks it; (3) whenever he makes a covenant he proves treacherous; (4) and whenever he quarrels, he behaves impudently in an evil insulting manner."

Bulhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 646:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "A man felt very thirsty while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, "This dog is suffering from thirst as I did." So, he went down the well again and filled his shoe with water and watered it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him. The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He replied: "Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (living being)."

Bulhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 654:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin Yazid Al-Ansari:

The Prophet forbade robbery (taking away what belongs to others without their permission), and also forbade mutilation (or maiming) of bodies.

Bulhari, Volume 3, Book 43, Number 661:
Narrated Anas:

While the Prophet was with one of his wives, one of the mothers of the believers (i.e. one of his wives) sent a wooden bowl containing food with a servant. The wife (in whose house he was sitting) stroke the bowl with her hand and broke it. The Prophet collected the shattered pieces and put the food back in it and said, "Eat." He kept the servant and the bowl till he had eaten the food. Then the Prophet gave another unbroken. bowl to the servant and kept the broken one.

6) When i refer to Terrorists, i am speaking of Islamic Extremists, that is Terrorists who identify themselves as muslims.

Now my question:

If Islam does not teach violence against the so-called "Infidel" (Non Muslim) why do the group of people mentioned in #6 of my list Identify it has a righteous crusade for their religion. Stop feigning ignorance and answer this question, or you will be sure to have been proven a liar or one who does not disclosing the full truth!

First what is Islamic extremists? One who follows Islam in extreme way, right? If Islamf doesn't teach people to kill non-muslims? Are they really extremisits? Or people who don't even know what Islam tells? The problem here is most terrorists are brainwashed when they were kids. They twist it very hard that kids can't be came back to normal easily. When they mature, they gives them duties like attacking certain places. It is like training dogs. Well, I ain't saying they are dogs, just comparing the action done here. Consider it as a metaphor or something. We can't catch the "person" who brainwash kids because he/she will tell them to suicide if they are caught and also mostly, they interact with each other using a third party/person. So that even if they are caught, they don't know who injected terrorism into their mind.

Islamic extremists don't bother about most things except spending almost all of their time for praying. So I don't know how terrorists can Islamic extremists as they contradicts Islamic teachings/rules.
