Still no answer on this one

BITMAIN, how often do you update the bitcoin/usd price on your site? current price is 334-335, and your ticker is stuck at 328. for a large order, that makes a hefty difference. i placed an order, and i didn't realize your bitcoin price ticker was not being updated...  Huh Huh Undecided

Checking.

Shipping, still a rip off, is half of what the S3's STILL are.  Bitmain, bust out the plasma cutter and lop the tops off those S3's to knock down the weight!
S3 shipping weight  6.2kg
S5 shipping weight 3.5kg

In other news, EMS is back!
3243  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: The New Standard, 0.51J/G, Shipping on 12/27 [Sales Open] on: December 23, 2014, 06:36:26 PM

now, first batch of S5 sold out in 12 hours. good luck to you guys.

Nope, not sold out.
Let me put it to you: BMT are unsure about the stability of the S5 and they have only sold a few to test RMA requests.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they can beat SP-Tech 1 (one) voluntary RMA in Thousands...

 Cheesy

dude, you are really working hard here, I hope you get your free sample of sp20.

I don't accept free units, all of my miners are paid for. thanks for your concern.

then you are really stupid if you are doing it for free.

Have you not seen his GIANT affiliate link banner for ST? He's one of their biggest affiliates - he doesn't need the free units, only to continually post and disparage in competitor's threads.
3244  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: December 23, 2014, 06:22:56 PM
only see the wrong design from the very first SP20 .  There should be a 8x PCI-E.
true. maxing out power rating for the socket is very wrong decision
Please continue SP20 related technical discussions in our thread.
The manufacture takes 20% margines over the 288 Watt rating.
1. Where 288W per one molex came from?
2. Why video card manufacturers use two molex sockets? High end GPUs consume ~275w max

Because the official standard by molex rates 6 pin PCI-E at 75W and 8 pin PCI-E at 150W [and most PCI-E slots at 75W]. The standard is crazy conservative though.

This is the fourth string miner that I know of - the others being the OneString and Yazio (or whatever) boards with Bitfury chips, and the Prisma. I know plenty about how reliable the Prismas are, but not enough about the Bitfury-based boards. (A previous post mentions a fifth design I had not previously seen, so chalk that one up).

XBTec have been using it on their custom BE200 designs for a long time now without problems.
3246  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER C1 Discussion and Support Thread on: December 23, 2014, 06:12:25 PM
This morning C1 stopped hashing, check the pictures. Please advice
Miner continued working without any maintenance... strange for me. If anyone had this problem please advice what should i do next time with this kind of problem.

If you see it again, reflash the SD card with the image in #2 of this thread. Looks SD card based.

interested want buy c1, i want ask.. if im buy c1 ready for use..im mean no need buy watecooling kit ?

Batch 2 C1 includes a watercooling kit so you don't have to buy it separately, but you must install it to run C1.

I guess the real question is, do they really need a watercooling kit or is it not truly necessary? To me this just adds more expense to a unit adding more time before it pays itself off.

Absolutely yes, do not attempt to run without it.

Watch me send them an Asian porn video starring me... come on, for a $20 pump?  Are people really this fucking cheap?

PS: Anyone tried taking apart those pumps?

I think that's syscooling's requirement, I'll have a look. I took one apart and its as expected. Big dry coil and separate wet impeller.
3249  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S3 Setup [HD] on: December 23, 2014, 06:05:08 PM
Hello everyone

Hopefully someone can help me.

I rigged up my first 3 s3's last night and they were running at about 450gh/s, so all OK.

Overnight they all went down to about 200gh/s, so I turned them all off and started them again - they then went up to 450gh/s again.

They have been working for about 4 hours and now one of them has reduced again, but at the moment the other 2 seem to be OK.

Any advise would be great!  They are new from Bitmain yesterday,.

Thanks
Adam

Which firmware are they on? If its later than 20141024, then put 20141024 on.

My S4 was running good for about 3 days then it started again with LCD screen going blank and stop hashing. After I hard booted, it last for another hour some times less than an hour and some times little more than an hour but it stop hashing regardless. Temperature never went up more than 53. Can anyone give me some idea? Huh

I think it had something to do with ventilation. When miner was hashing continuously, weather was cold so it didn't make a difference. But weather has been unseasonably warmer and exhaust fan against the wall was blow back to PSU of the miner which cause to stop hashing. I'm not sure but once I let exhaust fan to open area, it went back to normal. I'm a genius.  Grin

I was just about to say, if the unit is hard powering off then there is only one culprit.
3251  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [17th Dec] on: December 23, 2014, 07:07:14 AM
Added score colorings to the first half of the list. Let me know if you like it or if it gives you eye aids. I'll revert or add to the rest of the list depending on feedback in a bit.

The colors are nice I say add it to all of them. Also I agree about SP...it is refreshing to see such a legit ASIC company these days!

yes, more colour!
this forum ain't half pretty enough, i'm so glad we have dogie  Wink

Thanks for the feedback.

Added colors to the rest of them.
3252  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3+ is junk and no support from BITMAIN on: December 23, 2014, 06:04:58 AM
Now, it worries me a little, if the hired support behaves like in the post above, instructing a customer who paid a decent sum for a miner, to ship the miner or the boards / miners for replacement to another (official or not) forum user without proper customer identification, RMA #, incident analysis and documentation. BITAMAIN does not learn anything about the issue this way and considering everyone "legit" .. incurs costs without any possibility of fixing the same problems for other customers.

You seem to be attacking me without many of the facts here and its rather weird. The BitmainWarranty IS Bitmain, and is in charge of the US returns centre. The only way to use that centre and not the CN centre is to contact them directly as advised. The customer has already stated he has an email string with Bitmain and so there is something that can very easily be transferred over.

You have also ignored that I diagnosed the problems with the miners prior to making the referral, as they are previously known issues. Both boards were physically fine but had a bugged firmware on, before one of them was bricked due to a failed flash. The bricked board needs RMA'ing to BitmainWarranty as advised and the other just needs 1024 firmware putting on as advised.

Anything else? Or can we get back to actually helping this person now....
3253  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3+ is junk and no support from BITMAIN on: December 23, 2014, 04:05:04 AM
Are you running the November S3 firmware version? I experienced a similar issue running the November firmware, but after switching to the 10-24 firmware my S3s have been rock solid.

The November firmware release contains a bug that causes S3s to slow down significantly after hashing for a few hours. It looks like Bitmain has removed the November S3 firmware from their website due to this issue.

Agreed, anything but the beta firmware I posted past 1024 should be avoided. 1024 also breaks the reset button, my beta one fixes it.
3254  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3+ is junk and no support from BITMAIN on: December 23, 2014, 04:04:17 AM
It may have felt a lot like your emails to Bitmain since Dogie is a paid employee of bitmain to help english speaking customers. Supposedly. Most of his responses are simple scripted 1 liners.

If I am a scripted account, then my writer deserves a Turing Award.
3255  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 23, 2014, 03:59:03 AM
Issue has been resolved, CK has set an appropriate precedent:

There are quite a number of these reviews now cluttering up the hardware area and while it was nice publicity for spondoolies, I will be locking each thread after they have been up for a couple of days and I suggest further discussion regarding the reviews should go here. @spondoolies-tech, you may wish to create links to all the original review threads in your top post.

I understand but these should really have all been collated here as it ends up being advertising for spondoolies on the forum that costs spondoolies but did not actually pay the forum. Unfortunately there is no merge function in this forum software which would be the ideal solution. Out of respect for the legendaries I've forgone the locking for now, but can I urge the reviewers themselves to lock their threads and refer back to this one once they have completed whatever they have to say instead then?

tldr no one is allowed to flood spam
3256  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 23, 2014, 03:58:15 AM
i count 11 threads with bitmain in the title! did any1 complained?

There is no where near 11, and if people are asking questions outside of the appropriate areas then report those posts. I would be more than happy to merge anything bitmain into one of the two bitmain threads per product but I'm not an admin so you have to have patience.
3257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain S4 Power lead for Australian use? on: December 23, 2014, 03:52:35 AM
Any normal PC cable with a decent fuse and rating like this one.

In the future you can get S4 support here or here.
3258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S4 Setup [HD] on: December 23, 2014, 03:09:01 AM
well... that is unexpected.  The root password for ssh is different than for the root login via the web?

ps.  Thanks!

Yeah it is, you'll find the Bitmain ones in my FAQs.
3259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S3+ is junk and no support from BITMAIN on: December 23, 2014, 01:48:31 AM
May I ask why you asked for two controllers when only one was bricked? What PSU are you running?

I was hoping that, at least, you read the posts before you ask your scripted support questions.
The guy just said that "one card is totally dead and the other is unstable". Be happy he did not ask for spares.

I read every word, and unlike your post I am contributing to sorting the problem....

ANYWAY, if you're in the US send them to BitmainWarranty and he will swap them out. The bricked controller does sound bricked, but your hashing issue is more than likely firmware based. What version are they running?

Dogie will speak on behalf of BITMAIN and will not criticize BITMAIN in these threads. Dogie still reserves the right to criticize BITMAIN in his other threads. Both parties acknowledge that this relationship has no impact whatsoever on BITMAIN’s rating or standing in “Dogie’s ‘Manufacturer Trustworthiness” thread.

This means I won't sit here and reply to every post saying Bitmain is a scam, don't buy from Bitmain etc etc, in this thread. It does NOT prohibit me from saying that in my own threads, if that is what I believe. It also has absolutely no impact on their rating in the Manufacturer trustworthiness thread [in which Bitmain just went down 10 points].

No offence but your contract literally states "these threads" as the definition of those you will not criticize them in, I sure hope the phrase "these threads" is defined elsewhere in your contract.  If not you put yourself in a piss poor legal position, regardless it's conflict of interest 101 even if you make this claim.. Giving you investment of time I get it, however recognize it's human nature to be bias toward someone paying you, even if you consciously try not to be.

Of course.
