341  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: zte-asic miners, 2TH shipping in January? on: December 29, 2013, 01:41:15 PM
this company has done 2 simple mistakes which raises HUGE red flags..

1. they called themselves ZTE.  The real ZTE Chinese company wouldn't get involved with ASIC miners, way to small for them.

2. they say they've delivered first batch.  Not one single person or the company itself has demonstrated, posted info or taken photo/video of these so called miners.  Not one single person has tried to post message here on bitcointalk or any other forum.

If anyone who even remotely believes this company is real, then you're in fairy land.

It ate a lot of the rest of my post earlier. I was going to ask other newbies if they had traded crypto currency on ebay before?

I sold 5 lots of 1,000,001 MILLIDoge for an average price of $115.00 on ebay last few days. The buyers are trying to claim that I promised 1 million doge for the price. In the description/body of the ad I say five times that they are getting 1,000 Doge only for thier $127.00, one guy bought three lots. Now everything is being held by Paypal, and I was wondering what paypal would do with the profits - since they say they have no refund/buyer protection for intangible digital items.... anyone had experience with this?

Paypal will refund and chances are eBay will ban you.

I have to agree on this one.

my ad selling USB Erupters on Gumtree Australia (owned by eBay) was cancelled and when I appealed I got this reply below.

best not to ask unrealistic prices for crypto-currencies and/or miners otherwise eBay could follow suit.
we don't want to give bitcoin or any crypto's a bad name.

EDIT.  there was nothing in their 'Terms of Use' saying bitcoin related sales were not allowed when I checked.

Are we sure there isn't a placebo affect going on here with this unofficial firmware? I read one dude had to go back to the older version cause it was worse. Then others say hash rate is up. Maybe just because of the reboot? I'm using .99 firmware and rock steady on 561Gh/sec. It hasn't moved from there since I changed my power supply to the Corsair RM1000. I use to use the RM850, but that didn't have 4 PCI-E connections. The RM1000 has I think 6 of them. And of course it is silent. I'd love to keep mining but this damn bitcoin crash is driving me nuts. I do call it a crash since it was over $1000 not too long ago. Getting tired of seeing $650, either go up or down damn it!

is your hash rate you state in cgminer or at pool (over 12 hours running) or both?

Crash  Huh

When I bought my miners the price was $150 and I made plans to ROI in 6 months.
$1000 was too good to be true. $600 is fu**ing awesome. $300 would be great.

+1

I had similar estimates when I bought my Jupiter back in June

This is for October boxes ONLY: http://bit.ly/1dyucXS

This is for November boxes ONLY: http://bit.ly/1d40PP0

Any changelog?
What's new?

Mainly the reduced hardware errors on Eligius and the inclusion of the latest release of CGMiner. TBH it's not a complete update, we wanted to give you somerthing by xmas. V isn't happy with labeling it as a complete release, but it's almost 8pm (not 7pm, damned machine clock, argh!!), as he is still to tackle something before he's entirely happy with calling it an update. It doesn't have the additional tuning kit mentioned prior. Mainly Nov boxes will see the greatest benefit.

In any case as always constructive feedback appreciated, enjoy! Happy Hols...ho ho ho!!

Thanks Orama very thoughtful and nice xmas present to do a little tinkering with.  I'll update it now and report back after 12 hours of running it.

Merry Christmas to you, KNC team and all here on bitcointalk.
Cheers to all  Smiley

Quick update......
with new firmware kncminer-0.99.1-tune_October.bin in my October machine significant improvement, and looks with more time will be even better.

just a few minutes running and hash rate up 10GH/s and HW errors down only 1%..  will look better with more time
I report back in few hours, but looking great to begin with.

Thanks again
Cheers

results in after 22 hours running new October firmware.

hash rate has increased about approx 5GH/s from 548GH/s to 553GH/s
HW errors have also increased from 2.5% to 3.8%  (not big deal, see below)

but the biggest difference is the 12 hour hash rate at eligius has gone up from 540GH/s to 552.5GH/s and seems to reflect (more accurately) the average hash rate reported in cgminer

another noticeable difference is with the flush work, after detecting a new block doesn't seem to affect the hash rate as apposed to 0.95 firmware that I was running previously when flush work ran after new block was detected the rate dropped to nearly half.

another difference compared to 0.95 firmware is the power consumption increased from 570 watts to just over 650 watts (for me 0.95 firmware was most efficient than later firmwares)

Merry Christmas to all  Smiley

353  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: will the bitcoin reach $1000 one day...? on: December 23, 2013, 08:26:37 PM
*facepalm* Ok, one by one...

It's "rarity" will not be reached until 2140? aka we will all be dead before all the bitcoins are mined.
Yep, 21million bitcoins that will not be mined till 2140.
I will be dead long before Bitcoins are actually rare.

Bitcoin is rare at every point in time between now and 2140. Right now, no more than X bitcoins can exist. Period. Tomorrow, no more than X+3,600 bitcoins can exist. Period. Their supply is constrained, and thus they are rare, unlike, say, USD that can theoretically have an unlimited supply and created in any arbitrary amount at any point in time.
Using your claim, I can say that gold is not rare, and its "rarity" will not be reached until all the gold in our solar system is mined, which will likely be beyond 2140.

No, Gold is used because unlike iron it will not rust.
Unlike copper Gold will not turn your finger green.
Gold makes better jewelery that lasts longer.

Plenty of metals do not rust, do not turn fiingers green, and last for a very long time. Like Aluminum for example. Or brass. The only reason hold is worth more than those other metals is because it is rare, aka limited in supply.
Likewise, Bitcoin is used because it is decentralized
Unlike fiat, bitcoin has no counterparty risk
Bitcoin makes better money, because it is not based on debt, and can be programmed to do things money by itself can't.

Where can I spend a BTC?

At over 20,000 different merchants. Thanks to services like Gyft, that even includes Amazon and Target, where you can buy almost anything you need.

Can I buy a burger for BTC?

Yep. From Burger King, Red Robin, Applebees, TGI Fridays, and directly for a bunch of restaurants around the world.

Can I trade a BTC for a beer?

Yep. There are plenty of bars around the world that accept bitcoin directly. One just started taking them in Baltimore just two weeks ago.

On the other hand I could easily trade a gold necklace for a keg,
Or a few bags of burgers.

Walk into a Burger King, and give them this proposition. IF they do take your gold, chances are you will severely overpay for those things, compared to gold's actual exchange rate. If only because it's a pain in the butt to convert gold back to fiat.

Right, It has a bunch of nice qualities for a currency, and nothing you can spend that currency on.
At the moment you can basically buy drugs with bitcoins or gamble with bitcoins.

And this is why you fail so embarasingly bad. You are making the typical mistake of looking at bitcoin as a funny internet currency, and are not even bothering to look at where it can be spent, let alone what it can actually do.
First of all, at the moment, I can basically live off of bitcoin entirely, and aside froom having to use my credit card for gas, I actually do, as do many other people. And second, bitcoin is not a "currency," it's a globally distributed asset ledger. We can use bitcoin coins as currency, or we can use bitcoin coins as tokens to represent something else. Think of ANYTHING that requires proof of ownership representing an asset. Title to a house or a car, gold backed currency, commodity ETFs, stocks, bonds, you name it. All of that can be linked to a fraction of a bitcoin, and be traded on the blockchain directly, making the jobs of notaries, trust lawyers, title storage services, investment banks, brokerages, and many other financial system positions obsolete. Until you realize this, you don't understand what bitcoin even is, let alone what it is worth.

needs to be bumped...
teach these guys a lesson or two

Thanks and Merry Christmas

356  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [GROUP BUY OPEN] AntMiner U1 1.6 GH/S USB Sticks 4,000 TOTAL Ships TODAY on: December 23, 2013, 07:06:41 PM
How about instead of hating- if you don't like the price don't buy. As simple as that.

If we all stuck together maybe we could of made a difference and got a lower price,  nah but you have to the first to buy and fucked it for everyone.

even the group buy failed because and no one can buy a couple of these things now.  not just you, but also the others who bought at this price has spoiled it for everyone.

Now I suppose you want to resell these here?

how should that ever work Huh
you need much more buyers in the 1-10 range, than in all others together...
Or did I missed something  ?

that's what I thought Huh

Looks like this isn't going to work.
should of started selling smaller quantities first till enough was filled, and then larger quantities come later

even if you sold all remaining 169 U1's at 0.1 BTC you're still short 6.415 BTC

Hey it's all a learning process for all of us.
Great try cxboyminer

I am in Hong Kong. Delivery will be very quick from shenzhen.

Please confirm you guys want to buy using the current 0.1 price list?

Thanks

edit: price updated to help reach 45btc.

Amount     Bitcoin     Paypal
1 - 10         0.1           72.4
11 - 20       0.085        63.98
21 - 50       0.075        51.62
51 - 100     0.065          48.53

thanks cxboyminer, I give it to you for trying.. well done.
but how many do you have to sell of the smaller amounts to be able to sell the 51 - 100 lots at 0.065 ?

I'll buy any amount from 51 to 100 if you can get the numbers to fill the smaller lots.  BTW, I'll pay in BTC.

everyone should put in their interest and see it the numbers are achievable

I'll try fill in the left over if possible.  I like to take anywhere 51 to 100 or more.
try get as many as you need of lower quantity amounts and PM me left over quantity that you'd like me to fill.

I'll understand if you cannot get the numbers to fill smaller amounts to make up 45 BTC.

Good luck
