the new wallet has same problem. it got stuck.

If it seems stuck at near then end for some time, you can try to stop client and restart and see if it works. If not,

Muzzargh resolved similar 'stuck' issue going to http://dns.phstones.com  (gets a fresh list of 50 good nodes) , paste them into .conf and run wallet.

As soon withdraw/deposit is fixed on cryptsy a higher volume (up or down?) can be expect.

A few more exchanges would be nice, i am voting for PHS on https://www.mintpal.com/voting

Btw. i had my thinking on the the optimum rate of stake by guessing ca. half of it will be fresh liquidity for the markets.
Only time will tell how lower or higher interest as with Blackcoin (1%) or Mintcoin (20/15/10/5%) will perform,
but PHS makes me a perfect answer to Mr. Ackermann (Banker), who insolently claimed 25% for his biz.

I watch most of the PoS based coins to see real world examples, as its very interesting to me long term. 50% sounds high traditionally when comparing to 'real world assets' ie. savings accounts, bonds, stocks, etc... in cryptos, however,  you factor in lost days from tx's, exchanges and pools not staking, and the big tx fee destruction (right now its .01 per tx or 1 stone per 100tx standard tx, lost or forgotten paswords/wallets, And you get closer to 15% or less?  Just monitor current money supply and come to your own conclusion, will we hit 2 million at 1 year?  Compare this to bitcoin inflation 2nd year was 100%!

1% with fee destruction and you'll have deflationary crypto. If we went PoS only, stone creation would be very very low, too low really (for now), it may already be a liquidity problem and why high money supply coins have been doing quite well. (blackcoin 75 million is even small to some of these newer ones)

Ultimately, It's really up to the userbase, PHS is open source and open for other developers too. I think even a reduction to 25% and removal of PoW would keep the stone supply constant. Factors such as increase TX usage would make it deflationary even now quite easily (with larger adoption or even a simple site like dice).

as far as my estimates based on some querries run on the chain, about 80-90% of pow created stones are sold very quickly, with 10-20% of PoS being sold. IE stakers tend to reinvest, miners tend to sell.

Coinex has been locking withdrawals on various coins without warning. This after the theft and shutdown which they seemed to recover from(I got every bitcent out at this point). When they re-opened trading 11 days after their most recent theft they failed to clear their order books which was umm...really really dumb to put it bluntly. I pretty much stopped following them after that.

Thanks for the headsup on cryptsy!

wow, ya thanks for the headsup as well, I remember them shutting down for a few days some time ago and thought they were gone for good, I'll have to read up on current event.

also added mintpal to main post on this thread for voting.

I messaged them ~2 days ago to pause PHS to limit any possible issues with the recent fork, and have been waiting for explorers / users to update. I will notify them regardless very soon since I understand the frustration, but fwiw my experience with cryptsy has been fine in the past. Coinex is also an option, and currently active I sent a message about the update.

Do you know if a PHS deposit to cryptsy is working?

Thanks pointing out an alternative, but reading the scam warning chat and thin order size on Coinex made me better avoid it.
Cryptsy still my first choice, they working good since a year, just the support may slow and many peoples coinage worst now...

So until my PHS is stuck, i beg for a little donation to see how the wallet is minting, thanks: 9p4G916CnzKeq3RCGRn6tdwkDFeu7xzPP6

Even though there are some forked clients (20-25) out there still (and 1 explorer is on it and 1 is stuck) I have contacted Cryptsy with the updated source information, so should be up and running soon. What is this about scam warning chat? you mean on the site? I haven't actually used coinex for many months but was unaware.

Anyway to confirm this is indeed Reggie?

Perhaps a link/post from ZH, etc?

I keep asking cryptsy for an eta, but they still don't have one...It's been 5 days. A hamster could've fixed the problem by now. Not the least bit impressed with cryptsy's response. At least they've finally stopped claiming the problem is on my end. It feels like progress.

(there is about 20 nodes on the fork as of this post, and I see 170+ correct) this is slowly improving.

Thank you for explaining. I misinterpreted your last post on this subject. I trust your judgment on this.

Thanks, I understand with the history of all the hacks/scams and other shenanigans in cryptos why everyone wants to hold their coins.

Does the latest version of PHS address the "heartbleed" OpenSSL issue? If not, it would be wise to update and get on this list.

Coins with active devs, per Heartbleed bug example

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563790.0

Thanks TG,(well aware of the issue)

the important thing to know is many websites also may have been compromised(using ssl), banks, etc. , not just cryptos

For official BTC post with more details
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=562400.0

As far as PHS unix users can just use newest SSL, everyone else should just to be aware of the issue to protect other coins. I'll also put out a windows binary for anyone concerned.

Patched

1.4.1.1 patch if you feel the need: (PHS is not on the version of BTC with the issue, however)

1.4.0 is stuck at block 195551   Huh

Sent a pm!

although 1.4.0 is fine some users had been stuck on the fork , which is alive until everyone upgrades. (anyone on wrong chain should use this post)

I got a PM that txs withdrawal with coinex are working fine and have been, did you have any issue? I was waiting to hear form them if they did the update.

If anyone can confirm with pm or post , would be helpfull, thanks

Of course PM was from me, PalmD knows, but here you can see it guys:

yep, also I spoke with DK in chat earlier and he will be doing some promotion work with PHS, also has some ideas about wallet appearance, we may do either skins or something else down the road so users can customize.

Also will continue looking for more devs so I can improve GUI to make the client provide better (easier) to locate information on minting and more. Have a few ideas for donations so we can actually set some bounties, reward dev contributions, expand, etc.

Hi Palmdetroit,

I've updated to 1.4.1 and re-synched, but I'm now missing about 455 PHS that were sitting in stake before I updated. I thought they would have either stayed in stake or else relocated to my regular wallet balance, but they just...disappeared.

Is that an example of orphaned stakes that will reappear later? I can post a screenshot if that helps.

Hello, glad you survived the resync.

You are right, Expected behavior under normal circumstances is the amount in stake will stay there for confirmations then return to balance.  If you were on a fork or had an orphan than this will not be calculated into balance (i.e. disappear) when back on the main chain, since according to main chain it never happened.

You can let the wallet run to see if it re-stakes for a bit.

If your worried can also try checkwallet in the debug console (in dusty wallets client may appear to lock up for a bit, just leave it run).

Thanks for the advice. I'm impatient, so I tried checkwallet and found: "mismatched spent coins" : 1, and "amount affected by repair" : 455.12487300.

So, I did a repairwallet, and... it worked. My balance is back to normal, and I think my stakeweight is still preserved.

Yay.

Great, as long as you don't move them they should re-stake for higher amount.

After about 4 hours it was down to 220 blocks to go now it hovers around 500 -1300 to go. It is up to 99.74% and the last block was 3 seconds ago, blocks were 195590.  Also 42% of my stones are missing  Huh

Hey,

Stop PHS client, wait a minute or two for it to fully close, then restart.

Please make sure you update coinex.pw with the upgrade? I am sure they are busy, but coming from you, they might move it up a bit.

I haven't been able to withdraw my PHS from cryptsy, anyone else still having trouble?

"An Internal Error Has Occurred.

Error: An Internal Error Has Occurred."

Cryptsy did this before( 1 week ago), but then i tried it a few more times and it finally worked. But now it isn't letting me withdraw no matter how many times i try.

hi,

waiting on the explorers to update and will contact them then, speaking of which, anyone know how to contact

do I still need stoned.exe in my folder after upgrading to 1.4.1?

Unless you want to use it no, It's not being released anymore since the client can unlock in QT now (see beginning of thread), you can build a new one if you so choose.
(running an older one after upgrading is bad since they use different dbs)

358  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PHS][PoS] PhilosopherStone | Fast | PoW -50% PoS | Coin Control | 1.4.0 on: April 09, 2014, 12:19:54 AM
After halving client update 1.4.1

To see if you are on forked chain please check bottom right for what block you are on (constant syncing icon is also possible)
and compare current block with these sites, should be same or close.

http://phstones.com/mobile.php
http://phs.minar.cc/index.php?page=statistics

If you are on 1.4.0, Grab the new 1.4.1 client and run it, you may get an error, if so then you will need a new sync (see below)
If you are on lower version than 1.4.0 then you will need to follow below regardless.

Warning This new sync can take quite some time!, go grab dinner or lunch, maybe both

Code:
1. Stop current Qt Client or stoned.exe and wait 1 minute to fully close.
2. Back up wallet.dat
     Windows c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/philosopherstone/
     Unix : /home/user/.Philosopherstone
3. Delete all files in your directory above EXCEPT wallet.dat and philosopherstone.conf (if you have one)
4. Unzip 1.4.1 to where you would like and run QT file, and run it
5. You must re-sync which will take 1-12 hours depending on your computer and the network
6. Don't unlock wallet until you seen green check-mark bottom right.
7. When done you are re-synced and on new client!
8. (Check help>about Philosopherstone to verify version 1.4.1)

FYI: Oprhan stakes will restake later and at a higher amount.

Balance mismatch after sync? help>debug>console then type this command:
checkwallet
if error or problem then run
repairwallet

(this can take a long time on dusty wallets and client my appear to lock, just let it run, can check debug log for updates as it progresses)

let me knopw when its fixed. maybe my stake was too big and crushed it Wink

More likely halving, but as I am checking nodes I see sites like coinchoose are on some chain from before halving and 32 block reward being used (was 16 at that time, 8 now).  Cheesy

Also noticed some PHS clones/forks may not have updated/changed seednodes , IRC , and ports too  Roll Eyes
